Review Pho Non La - Melbourne

BB B
I ordered these two as photo, pho was below average taste and small. I mean, really Small. I saw the one of comment here is actually saying that they are bit stingy with toppings i see what that means. Even In my pho, there were only four pieces of meat. One thing got my attention.... the grilled pork topping for vermicelli wasn't look real to me...it is like, ham?...kind of texture. Eeew. :(

The food here is beyond amazing. Everything I've tried had surprised me with the great texture and taste. The bubble tea is better than most stores. The customer service was great. Pho noodle soup was my favourite meal. Overall it's a restaurant you must try. Has become my favourite Vietnamese restaurant.

Since I came Pho Non La, I fell in love with the foods here definitely. Especially all kinds of foods is home made and always fresh. It is really hard to find a good Vietnamese restaurant in Melbourne but Pho Non La is the first recommend whenever I want to try Vietnamese cuisine. Additionally, I am always satisfied with the quick and nice service here, the staff is really friendly and smiling any time.

Wow, I've hit the jackpot with this one! I love Vietnamese food and have recently travelled to Vietnam and sampled as many of the food delights that I could. This restaurant is some of the best Vietnamese that I have had, ever. I have tried a lot of Vietnamese food in my time and this place is right up near the top of that list. Great Pho, fantastic Banh Mi and delicious rice paper rolls with a selection of dipping sauces. The service is excellent from the family run business and all this at such great value. I can honestly highly recommend this restaurant, I'm yet to have a bad experience. Please make a point to give it a go, I promise you'll come back!

Very hearty and finely cooked Vietnamese food. The beef was really smooth and was cooked to perfection. The quality of the ingredients is good, not some of those that you can simply find in Asian supermarkets in Australia. Well, the pictures of the food on the menu do not do them justice because they look way better in real life and of course, taste really delicious too.
Long Home
I have been traveling through Australia and many other countries. Sometimes I want to enjoy the food Vietnam without passing a shop for each. I do not know the correct item shop that sells Vietnam with his palate. I happen to know at Pho Non La, everything here is great. From dishes such as Pho, bread, salad, spring rolls, beef noodle, crab vermicelli, spring rolls ... along with beverages such as iced tea, filter coffee, milk tea has many different flavors .. . until the services have made me very happy. It flavored Vietnam come to me and give me a warm feeling when I'm at home. I will return to Pho Non La and introduce my friends to shop when your friends return to Australia.

This place is really good place with many good features. As a University of Melbourne student, I want to find a good restaurant for hangingout with friends as well as showing a Vietnamese tradition and culture, i searched with Google and luckily this place came out with a really high score! I came there and the result was really amazing! First of all, the customer service was really nice, i was served with friendly manner and warm welcome! I was welcomed with really good cup of tea before eating! Moreover, the restaurant is really clean. Secondly, the Vietnamese food here is outstanding, i can not imagine the food quality can be that good! The Pho and Bun bo is really nice with well prepared soup, and great quality and a right amount of meat! I would reall like to comeback with my friends and I would recommend this place if you are looking for a place with great Vietnamese food in Melbourne central!

we just had our 1st visit here. Top marks, great first impression. great food, excellent service and the atmosphere + music, really took us back to Vietnam, these people have gone above and beyond...this restaurant is raising the bar for Vietnamese cuisine in Melbourne, a fresh and welcome addition to the foodie culture of Melbourne....

Best banh mi in Carlton, if you're partial to the roasted pork belly for lunch get in early before it sells out. Only downside is looking at a fridge full of delicious imported Vietnamese beers and not being able to drink one on my lunch break. Recommended!
Sunny Days Melbourne
We thought it would be a novel experience to savour some pho in the heart of Melbourne's little Italy, Lygon Street. After all, who goes to Lygon Street for pho, right? Unfortunately it wasn't the best experience. Probably one of the most disappointing and expensive phos around. They were not generous with the bean sprouts or noodles. They served the seasoned chicken separately from the noodles and soup, which we thought was unusual. The service was warm but the food took awhile to appear even though we were the only patrons that evening. Next time we are sticking with pizza and pasta on Lygon Street.

Average pho place at best. Came here during lunchtime. Pho tasted OK, but portion was small for the price charged. Some of the sauces were missing, and had to ask for fresh cut chilli. Also had a taro milk tea with pearls which tasted good.

Amazing pho. Softest Banh mi I've ever had - lush and delicious. Service was great - manager is always very welcoming. Would highly recommend.

Most disappoint banh mi I've ever had. Incredibly small serving, the lady making it didn't even fill the roll. Even a relatively cheap price of $7 can't justify the ridiculously small size.

LOCATION:

It is on Lygon St. near Ying Thai and Saigon Pho. Very close to Argyle Square in Carlton.

FOOD:

This is the third time in my life I have had pho and it was the most delicious pho so far. I was feeling a bit under the weather and so chicken pho was the best. On my request, the chef made it spicy, which made it perfect! Honestly, the portion was so big that I slurped all the soup and couldn't finish all the noodles in the bowl. They also give you lots of fresh bean sprouts with the pho, which made the whole food taste even fresher and lighter.

PRICE:

My total bill was 22 dollars. We ordered two phos and the bill totally didn't hurt my poor, hungry student's budget. So, that means I will go again there whenever I feel pho.

AMBIANCE:

This place is new. So, everything was clean and gleaming. Their chopsticks are wooden which is such a relief cause all the plastic chopsticks are so hard to eat with.

SERVICE:

Service was great. The waiter and chef were attentive but left us alone to enjoy our meal.

Just writing this review is making me drool for pho, so maybe dinner tonight will be pho.

Non-authentic Vietnamese food. Such a shame! Especially the Pho and Bun Rieu. The soup tasted like water itself, no flavour. The meat was so hard to chew. Special Pho? Only 2 types of beef! Worse than Saigon Pho next door

My go-to place for a quick lunch in Carlton. Walk past all the average Italian places and go to this little place for fresh and tasty Vietnamese fare. The vermicelli salads, rolls and noodle soups are all really tasty. Probably also one of the cheapest places in the area to get a decent lunch!
The staff who work here are all really lovely.
Food For Life
As an friend's suggestion , we decide to come here and try their special Pho hotpot . It was nice and we especially love their tendon meat. Pho soup is ok to me , at least I think there is just not too much MSG like the other pho place in Footscray or Richmond.

Though the price of the rice paper rolls can be quite high compared to other places, the ingredients they use are very fresh in my opinion. The staff are friendly and attentive to your every need it was quite overwhelming but not to say in a bad way.

Overall an enjoyable experience!
Sylvia's POV
The novelty at Pho Non La is the hotpot-style Pho they offer (at $35). We added extra meat ($10) and also 1x spring rolls and 1x fried rice paper rolls.

We sat outside because there the inside of the restaurant was booked out. It was a little chilly, but the staff insisted they would turn the heater on (which we later found wasn't actually on).

The staff were friendly and hospitable, they recognized my mum because she had been here before.
Overall, lovely experience. Would come again.

The kindest people, lovely cosy place with good atmosphere, and the freshest, tastiest Vietnamese food around. It's a fun night out chatting to the owners while eating authentic meals.. Take away is available & the bubble tea is amazing! This is our new local.
