This is such a fantastic fish n chip shop! The seafood options here are great with lots of different fish and shellfish to choose from, which all looked fresh. The salad options are also really good too, they were vibrant and looked amazing. We had the Grilled Barramundi Pack and Grilled Seafood Plate, both dishes were very flavoursome and such a generous portion size. A really great place and would definitely recommend. Thank you for having us!

One of the best fish and chip places around. Everything was fresh and awesome variety. We ordered fried fish and chips which all came out crispy. The Cajun calamari was completely on point. They are very generous with their portions as well. The store was nice and clean and very spacious.

If u want fresh and good fish and chips, battered calamari, grilled Prawns or fish, you got to try scales Fish N Chippery Brunswick You can choose from a spread of seafood, have it cooked to your liking and pair it with the range of salads that are made fresh daily, hot chips or rice. My top pick: Definitely try the prawn skewers, they are zesty and delicious and the battered calamari, oh boy they were big and yummy!!!!

Scale up when you dine at Scales Fish N Chippery! This place seriously impressed me. The food was made with nothing but love and each dish was so flavoursome. Let’s just say we got a winning spread😃! Amazing seafood feast at Scales Fish N Chippery! 🐟🍟 We ordered the Couples Pack, Grilled Seafood Plate, and Crab Stick, and all I can say is wow! The food tasted absolutely delicious and was so well seasoned 🙌🏻 Loved the crunchy and fresh chips and perfectly flavoured calamari! The portion sizes were so filling as well, and the staff were super friendly! No doubt the best seafood restaurant in Melbourne !! 😊

For all the an avid fan of fish and chips this chippery in Brunswick has definitely been on my radar for awhile. @scales these specialists around the city who are frying up a storm for hungry tummies! There are few things that scream comfort like good old fish and chips and definitely some burgers! The fish along with fries here here simply speaks for itself. The flavours are right on point and every bite . The fries add another dimension of texture to the whole fare and together a beautiful harmony is achieved which is simply unbeatable. We love how the fresh fish is cooked to a delightfully crisp and golden brown batter and served with thick chips and a splash of vinegar and salt. You would love to order a big couples pack and enjoy some scallops and dimsums with a side of potato cake! Not to miss on their Burgers!! I was extremely delighted to try their lentil burger. There’s no reason why fast food can’t be nutritious and healthy, and this burger proved me, has done a great job with the vegetarian pattie. Nice crispy patty with greens and shredded beetroots, fresh lettuce, red onions, tomatoes and cheese! Surely, There’s nothing particularly fancy about Fish and Chips– just crunchy, grease-free batter, fresh fish and fluffy fries. Exactly the way it should be is why you need to try it out here!

Visited this beautiful fish and chip place yesterday! We ordered the Grilled Salmon Fish pack with a greek salad with brown rice, the Fried Flake Fish pack with quinoa salad and a side of the Chargrilled Calamari. All the dishes were beautiful, my favourite being the Grilled Salmon which was cooked to the perfect way I like it! The herbs and flavouring on all the fish was also divine and really just made the food taste that much better! The fried fish had the perfect amount of batter to make a beautiful crunch and melt in your mouth also and was a great batter to fish ratio. The chips that were served with the Fried Fish were also crunchy and not soggy, an added bonus for sure! Finally the Chargrilled calamari was cooked beautifully, not overcooked at all and the flavours used to marinate the calamari were also delicious. Olly who was working when we visited was delightful and very friendly! Would definitely visit again when I am in the area.

A great and spacious restaurant to go to for some fresh fish and chips. They also have delicious and well-seasoned seafood skewers. I personally really loved the prawn skewer. It was so fresh. The meat were so sweet and juicy. The burger was also really great as the fish was deep fried with panko crumbs. The fried fish fillet was also fresh and had a great crisp to it.

Not just your average fish and chip shop! Scales really is a treat! Everything we had was so delicious.<br/>There isn’t a lot of places that offer salmon on the menu (super tasty). A great range of fresh salads to go with your fish and chips too. <br/>The prawn skewer really is a must, the perfect starter with a few toppings to chose from- I had garlic. Yum.<br/>It’s very spacious too with a nice seated area inside and out or it makes for a fabulous take away! <br/>

You walk into a nice spacious fish and chip shop with a display window of fresh seafood at the front and another display of fresh salad ranges available.<br/><br/>There was a good range of options on the menu and we decided to try the fish and chips and the grilled seafood skewers. They come with different sides options and we went with the rice and salad<br/><br/>The fish and chips is nice and the batter was light and crunchy. It was very fresh and the salads were good. Scales is a quality fish and chip restaurant just off Lygon Street in Brunswick and served up top quality seafood, burgers & wraps along with a beer or wine in comfortable environs. <br/><br/>Tonight we came back for a second bite at the menu and was pleased to see the place was as popular as ever. Both on a bit of a health focus we steered away from the battered fish options opting instead for grilled Salmon with a quality Greek salad and chips (because we’re only human after all). I had a grilled fish burger which was just superb with generous tartar, slaw and tomatoes. <br/><br/>As with the chips and because it was Friday we ordered a side of some of the most tender salt and pepper calamari and we remembered how good the potato cakes were so snuck some those in too. <br/><br/>For a second time the menu really impressed and the communal tables inside seemed to be a real hit with families serving hungry kids. With quite a sizeable area there was plenty of seating to choose from. When we arrived there was a pile of Uber Eats orders being prepared and walk ins waiting to collect and take away. You kind of expected the crowds being Friday night fish and chips.<br/><br/>We chose the Grilled fish pack, (fish of the day) with a salad of your choice served with & either rice or chips. There was a lovely selection of salads to try from so I opted for the Greek salad to go with my grilled fish and chips (and sneaky potato cake) on the side. <br/><br/>The Potato cake was scorching hot, beautifully cooked through and delightfully crunchy. The grilled fish of the day was succulent, boneless and has a delightful after taste of delicate herbs. The salad was fresh with a lovely lemony vinagette dressing. The chips where crunchy, and cooked to a light golden colour, not at all oily and not over seasoned, (salt and pepper is provided on the tables for those who want more). <br/><br/>We also ordered the Anglers pack which contained battered flake, 2 battered calamari rings, a potato cake and chips. The flake was a good solid piece of fish and the calamari were super tender. <br/><br/>We also ordered a prawn skewer with were covered in a garlic and sweet chilli sauce. These were poppy and flavoursome morsels and a yummy addition.<br/><br/>We just drank soft drinks tonight but noted that beer and wine was available should you feel the need. <br/><br/>It was really nice to eat in on quality plates and with real cutlery in such nice surrounds which is often not an option at other fish and chip shops. Not your average suburban fish and chip shop, Scales takes this Aussie favourite to the next level. Located in a perfect spot, just off of Lygon St; this fish and chippery is a huge, modern space with a really cool decor, lots of natural light due to the floor length windows, and ample seating inside and out. Displays of fresh seafood tempt diners, and the smell is just delicious. Fully licensed, we were able to start off with a nice glass of wine and beer while we read over the menu. There is a good combination of deep fried classics such as dim sims and potato cakes, as well as a lovely choice of fresh seafood options such as prawn skewers, fresh fish and a few varieties of handmade salads. <br/><br/>We chose a good mix of dishes, and it was more than enough for four people. We had a dinner pack, which came a generous piece of battered flake, as well as calamari rings, potato cakes and plenty of chips. We also ordered extra potato cakes, as they are a family favourite. Everything was amazing. The batter was light and crispy, the fish was fresh and there was just the right amount of salt. The potato cakes lived up to our expectations and were soft, crispy and delicious. <br/><br/>A separate dish of crumbed calamari was divine, and the fish burger was huge with it's fresh fish and bun, and plenty of salad. To be a bit more health conscious, we also chose a plate of fresh fish, which came with a side of brown rice and Greek salad. This plate was my favourite, as the freshness of the salad really complemented the grilled fish. There was so much flavour in such a simple dish, which is great for people wanting healthier options. <br/><br/>Scales was extremely busy on the day we were there. We were surrounded by families, couples and groups of friends, and plentyof people were also ordering take away. The staff were under the pump, but service was still really efficient, and our food arrived promptly and was perfectly prepared. I found the staff to be really lovely and welcoming. This amazing fish and chippery is a great spot to visit for some classic Australian flavours, and the chilled vibe and delicious food is sure to keep you coming back.

Bright, spacious and airy, with gorgeous shades of aquamarine tiles, the interior exudes a beachside feel to it.<br/><br/>Tucking into the Reef Pack ,which comprised of a fried fish of the day, fried prawns and a crab stick, I was impressed with the thin crispy batter, and also the soft, slightly flaky fish that managed to hold its texture well. The beautiful batter was also evident in both the prawns and the crab stick. Speaking of which, the prawns, in both the fried and grilled version, were plump juicy morsels of yum. <br/><br/>The Seafood Skewer Pack, in which I chose the seafood skewer and the scallops skewer, were flawless in execution, taste and freshness. The brown rice and the Greek salad helped balanced out the meal with healthy eating vibe, but I definitely could not say no to the hot crunchy chips. <br/><br/>Most definitely a place I would recommend to all! Fish and chips is an underrated family get together meal and these guys have taken this tradition to a whole new level! Everything is cooked to absolute perfection and seasoned so well! Some times fish and chips can be a little boring but this place is no where close the word boring! <br/>The service was absolutely amazing and the interior was beautiful and welcoming. Scales Fish & Chippery is a modern and sleek fish and chip shop located just off Lygon Street in Brunswick East. The restaurant is rather spacious offering both indoor and outdoor seating, as it was raining when we visited we opted to sit inside.Visiting for dinner we ordered the chargrilled calamari with avocado salad, fried reef pack (fish of the day with two prawns, crab sticks & chips), a grilled seafood & prawn skewer and a pineapple fritter. The highlights for me were the calamari, grilled skewers and the chips in the reef pack. The calamari was perfectly cooked and full of flavour and worked beautifully with the avocado salad. The avocado salad was just one of a number of fresh salads on display to choose from. We opted to have the skewers coated with garlic which just heightened the flavour. The chips were highly addictive, crispy and well seasoned, we couldn’t get enough. The pineapple fritter was a nice way to end our meal, golden and crunchy on the outside and warm and sweet on the inside.Overall I had a great experience at Scales and I recommend that you check them out when you’re looking for a fish and chips fix. With its stunning interior and perfect location in the heart of Brunswick. scales delivers a modern take on the classic dish and chips. We ordered the calamari, prawn and scallop skewers with Greek salad and sweet potato fries, grilled salmon and sweet potato cakes. All of the seafood was seasoned and cooked to perfection and we devoured every last bit! In particular, the prawn and scallops skewers, which were basted in sweet chilli sauce, were so tasty and flavourful! The sweet potato fries were also a stand out as they were so flavoursome and perfectly crispy! If you’re in the mood for some fresh, high quality and delicious fish and chips, we highly recommend that you give this place a visit!

My friend and I came here for lunch one weekend and we decided to try their fried pack, grilled pack, prawn skewer and a side of sweet potato chips.I was pleasantly surprised at the softness of calamari and it wasn't chewy or tough. Fish of the day was barramundi and it tasted fresh and delicious.Our sweet potato chips were also very delicious and the prawn skewers were great. The restaurant was clean and it was a nice place to hang out in the afternoon.

You know it's a good restaurant when you see customers waiting for take away, uber eats delivery couriers waiting, and customers filling up the tables!<br/><br/>We were super hungry and ordered the Family pack which was of a great value as it consisted of:<br/><br/>- 2 fish of the day (blue grenadier)<br/>- 6 calamari rings<br/>- 4 fish bites<br/>- 4 potato cakes<br/>- 4 dim sims and <br/>- large chips<br/><br/>The fish was really crispy on the outside and very fresh and sweet on the inside. Finished it in no time when dipped in the tartare sauce and drizzled with lemon! The fish bites were the same!<br/><br/>Potato cakes and dim sims reminded me of primary school lunches so it was my childhood favourites!<br/><br/>The calamari rings were really crunchy as well, and chips were really hot and nice but there were too much and we couldn't finish it so had to take it away.<br/><br/>Very satisfied meal finished off with a lemon iced tea.<br/><br/>Thank you Scales Fish and Chippery for some quality food!

You know when that have that 'fish and chips' crave? Well, today that was for us.<br/><br/>Four of us rocked up here and we were in for a treat. We love come clean and spacious this venue is. Not your usual, small fish and chips shop. You can sit down and relax here and enjoy your freshly made fish and chips.<br/><br/>We decided to order the 'Family Pack'. There was sooo much going on in this one. Two large pieces of the fish of the day, 6 calaramari rings, 4 fish bites, 4 potato cakes, 4 dim sims and the largest portion of chips you've seen. Amazing.<br/><br/>And because all that was not enough, we ordered the salt and pepper calamari as well as the extra sweet potato chips. Incredible.<br/><br/>The batter of the fish was delicious. The caramari rings were nice and full, the dim sims exactly how you want them and the fish so fresh.<br/><br/>The highlight of the night was the salt and pepper calamari. Guys, so fresh, so moist, so flavoursome. You loved this.<br/><br/>Exactly what we needed tonight. A definite return here.

Modern fish and chips restaurant - fresh bright decor and absolutely spacious.. you can be rest assured that the fish on your plate is absolutely of fresh and top quality with sides of chips and salad to die for. Very spacious and modern fish and chips shop tucked away from all the hustle and bustle of Lygon St. Reasonably priced and tasty grilled/fried packs, generous servings to have dine-in or takeaway. Not many veggie options and desserts. The veggie pattie in the burger was nice and thick, although it only comes with lettuce and tomato... (with the option of adding extras). Staff are friendly and welcoming.

Everything about Scales shrieks loud....except for the food. <br/>In a great location with a big open and very spacious eating area, modern fit out and friendly staff it should and could be a lot more. <br/>The only reason for a comment and a score is that they serve a few good beers and some fair wines.  The fish and chips though are an absolute let down as are the salads. Nothing special at all. <br/>Better off going to your local fish and chippery.

For us the calamari was fresh and tender, but very bland seasoning. Good portion of chips, but they were dry and bland. I added vinegar and salt when I got home. The fish was dry.

Utterly vile fish and chips. Bland and tasteless mush, if blindfolded you’d be hard pressed to know what food you’re eating. Scales told me it was a Deliveroo problem - didn’t realise they worked in your kitchen too. Food actually arrived earlier than the scheduled time and was hot, so not a Deliveroo issue. Terrible experience dealing with a Scales employee on the phone - “it’s not my problem”. Good luck peddling your sorry excuse for fish and chips.

Had a burger and potato cake and both were absolutely delicious! Also, food was ready quick enough. So tasty. Looking forward to going again :) good work guys!

Ordered the salt and pepper calamari with Greek salad and rice and my partner had the grilled flake with Greek salad and rice. They were both delicious and well seasoned and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Look forward to trying other items on the meal soon!

It’s fish and chips, nothing special. After several visits, my latest will be the last one due to the service. I find the staff quite rude and unfriendly as if they are forced to be there. Like seriously? You’re a half rate hunky dory, smile you need the business.

Pricey for what you get. But I really enjoyed it. I had grilled salmon with chips and salad (a bit scabby on the chips). And it's nice to have a wine and dine in. A real nice atmosphere too.<br/>

Went there tonight..just expecting another pop up 'fly by nighter' East Brunswick failure.<br/><br/>WAS I WRONG. Food was actually delicious. Fish was fresh and tasty..and was on display to choose (memories of growing up on northern beaches of Sydney ) chips, potato cakes, calamari and my wife's grilled salmon and beetroot salad...we couldn't fault.<br/>Staff..although young...were lovely. <br/><br/>I don't mind saying...despite a little more expensive than your regular fish and chips...being able to sit and have a nice cold beer and glass of wine...I couldn't find fault.<br/><br/>One minor thing is there advertised hours are actually 9pm close...not 10 pm as on here.<br/>WELL DONE

Absolutely delicious food, the salmon was perfectly cooked. Been twice now and would definitely go again. Service was wonderful, nice kid friendly place.

Really fresh seafood and at very reasonable prices. The staff are great too. We go there almost once a week. It's just what Brunswick was lacking and fortunately they opened around the corner!

Service is pretty bad. Tables not cleared for 10-15 minutes. Like a number of places now that have Uber Eats and Deliveroo they cannot seem to cope with diners coming in off the street. The fish of the day as part of the Scales pack was good and not over cooked , however the same cannot be said for the fried calamari which was tough and inedible. A disappointing experience for Friday fish and chips <br/>

Delighted this place opened. I've eaten here a good few times and been great every time. Love the grilled flake and they always have delicious salads. The only thing I didn't like was was sweet potato cake which was on the hard side but everything else was great. The staff are all super friendly. Definitely one of my regulars now 👍🏻
