I have been going to Old Salt Burger for roughly 7 years now and ordering the Old Salt Burger without onion or pineapple. I have eaten a lot of burgers from a lot of different places, but this burger is objectively my favourite. It is not on any of the delivery apps, surrounded by other "fancier" fish and chip and burger shops and doesn't even have it's own website.
Nevertheless, this humble fish and chip shop produces without fail, the same tried and true, deliciousness ever squeezed between 2 sesame seed buns.
An awesome alternative to the other popular F & C joints in the area. Equally tasty, properly battered, well fried and nicely staffed. Fairly priced and good sized too.
Been very satisfied with the food here. Potato cakes, battered flake, garden salad, chips, dim sims all good for a reasonable price. The burger with the lot was one of the best fish and chip shop burgers I've ever had. Service is fine although some of the cooks look very grumpy haha. I would recommend!
Good quality standard fish and chip shop. When i don't want your Hunky Dory or Belvga type of fish and chips i come here........ Recommended

A really good option if Hunky's is full across the road, The chips are crunchy and soft inside and the fish is just as fresh. The seared tuna with with wasabi mayo i ate which I think was a special for the day was simply divine !
Really nice place for a quick lunch.
I'm not a fish fan myself, but my wife loved the salmon.
Burger was pretty decent as well, especially for the price.

It's was a wet and miserable Tuesday lunchtime and this was the second busiest fish and chip shop in Melbourne. A must visit for their chips alone. Real chips!
A rather noisy place to have your food in. Not because of the customers but the chatty staffs and the way they cooked. I don't mind it, i think it adds character to the place. I had fish and chips pack and it was great, especially the fish. The batter was thick and looked plain but the taste was awesome. Didnt try the burger but would want to try it one day
The thing I appreciate most about this shop is I asked for crispy chips and they indeed deliver! The batter is also nicely done. All in all a very satisfying experience.
Old Salt burger was excellent. Meat is good quality and not greasy. Chips crisp and tasty. Definitely best fresh, so consider ordering and waiting.
