Review Centro Expresso Caffe - Melbourne

Some very tasty food here, freshly made and at a really great price compared to nearby eateries. The crispy chicken roti wrap was delectable, since it's open most hours in the day, I highly recommend visiting this Cafe.

Had a pesto chicken sandwich ($10). Edible is the only correct way to describe it. This place has Halal chicken but they do also sell ham. Staff was alright. One of them did cough into their hands before dealing with customers though...

I ordered a large sized coffee this morning And a small size came out, and then i said”I ordered a large size” However, the attitude of an older man employee was embarrassing. I understand people can make mistakes. But The man said “you paid for the small price” Shouldn't you apologize to me or ask me to change the size first? I think he needs to learn service mind If you don't want to start your day with a dirty feeling on a busy morning, I don't recommend this cafe.

I was gobsmacked when, after stopping the server placing my roll in a warming machine, I was informed that I hadn't requested that. My retort that I hadn't requested anything, apart from, by implication, a roll, was met with a curt reply to the effect "well you need to ask here or we'll assume you want your roll heated up"! Perhaps I needed to also say I didn't want orange juice, coffee, or fruit. Or anything. Or it might have been assumed I did!

My daily Go-to coffee & brekkie place. Opens early in the morning (6.30-7am) and open till past lunch. Great, tasty options for everyone. Vegetarian options available aplenty! Have seen new vegetarian options being introduced often. Combo deals like $10 panini and coffee! From Sandwiches to Croissants to slices to falafel rolls, genuinely tasty options ! Staff is really nice and sweet. Coffees are made to your liking. They also have a promo for regular visitors where you buy 9 coffees and the 10th is free! Definitely give it a go, if you are around Flinders Lane!

I loved my veggie wrap and my coffee with coconut milk was awesome (just 20ct more for the milk). The prices are really good as well. Just the staff is a bit too stressed out

Friendly staff! It’s more of a on-the-go breakfast. Always come here for the Brekkie deal - 6$ coffee and ham & cheese croissant before heading to work. They have more options. Good coffee!

Surprisingly ripped off here. I thought I would try a bacon and egg panini as they looked quite good and seemed reasonably priced. Unfortunately it was an extremely misleading display. What I thought was 2 eggs, bacon and cheese turned out to be the below. A third of the way filled, one side with offcuts of bacon and the other side with none, one egg and cut only partway through so it looks like it's full. Where is the rest of it??

Amazing sense of community ...

Had an almond chai latte here today. It had the perfect amount of spice and was not too sweet. The service was very friendly and quick.

umm how does 2 small coffees add up to $11.90??? the whole time the staff was trying to upsell me to purchase large coffees or double espresso shots. should have left since the whole experience was very strange and coffee was very average.

2.5
I was walking past looking for some lunch when I say some of the wraps in the window. With a nice selection I picked the Cajun Chicken wrap to take away.

Unfortunately the woman who served me had a phone stuck to her ear as she took my order which was awkward!

I asked for a take away only to be asked by another woman what I’d ordered and that she thought I was sitting in to eat. Ok I said I’ll sit in and I say down.

Then the same woman called out my order which was all wrapped up to take away! Ok lol

The chicken was really dry, almost unpalatable! The only spice was some Cajun pepper on the outside of the wrap which is still spicy some hours later on my lips hahaha!

With so many choices in this space I’m unlikely to go back.

Fantastic for value - my favourite go-to Panini stop!

📍Tucked away in the busy Degraves Lane (Just off Flinders Street & Flinders Lane) is Centro Espresso Caffe

💲The Paninis are very affordable, fresh and delicious. At just $6 for a panini, these are easily my favourite in the area.

👥 The staff are nice, but their priority is speed. Exactly what I need, when I duck out of the office for a quick lunch on the go.

⚡️My go to is the Chicken Avocado Panini, toasted. They’ll give you the choice of having it fresh or having it toasted for you. The Turkish bread is incredible toasted!

The Panini fills me up perfectly. For anyone with a big appetite, I would recommend buying 2. For me just the one is always perfect.

💚 Speed
💚 Price
💚 Taste & Quality
💚 Location - very central
i honestly didnt enjoy my coffee not worth it for a $4.80 i just throw it after few sips. The staff is not even friendly, with a large number of cafes around they should step up their game

Lovely Bagel and Coffee to start the day... Bagel was fresh and toasted - could have used some cheese in the BLT, however that was my choice...

Coffee was nice and strong, not bitter like other places I have been...

Good coffee and good value considering a large was $3.50. Nothing special though- the beans tasted like they were of average takeaway coffee standard. The selection of wraps and sandwiches were extensive and looked tasty.

Staff were super happy and lovely! Coffee was great, food was cheap and yummy and I loved the music they were playing too, I’ll definitely be coming back again :)

To sum it up ... Rude and unfriendly staff. Clueless and uninterested. Thank God we are spoilt for choice in Melbourne.

A touristy Cafe where true Melburnians will not go. Change your staff if you want to survive in this town. Good luck.

Very reasonably priced, smooth coffee! I love that substituting dairy milk for almond milk is only 20 cents extra, which makes me frequent this place over closer alternatives. I enjoy the vegan falafel wrap tremendously, but would love to see a vegan option in the roti or turkish bread! This could possibly be very popular with other customers as I hear orders being rushed for the 'falafel wrap' very often :)

Needed a quick munch while on foot and saw the $6 tandoori wrap and was sold. Bad choice. It was like a wrap you buy at the airport - tasteless and bland. Oh well, what did I expect?! Lesson learnt.

Was wondering through the laneways in the city when I saw a queue at Centro Espresso. Had a look and saw people lining up for wraps and sandwiches. I ordered the sweet chilli chicken wrap $6. Fantastic value and great portion size. Chicken tasted good, good amount of sweet chilli sauce and some mixed greens thrown in as well. Very cheap for a quick lunch in the city.

Went here for a quick bite to eat. Got the £5 vegan falafel wrap. For the price it was decent. Not much filling but satisfied my hunger. Small, cute little place to stop if you want a quick lunch and a decent cup of coffee for a cheap price.

Really great little enterprise right on the corner. Lovely young ladies, very friendly. Great variety of sandwiches and wraps at an excellent price. Not trendy or funky just good food and fast service.
Kimmy_desu
They only have food available from the display cabinet as there is no kitchen. Tiny area but good to sit here for people watching and unwind. I got the hummus falafel roti which was quite delicious. Matcha latte was alright though nothing special. I will be back to try their coffee and other rotis.

Came here today for a quick lunch with my partner and my sister, as my sister was in a hurry to get to work. I ordered and long black and a chicken and avocado roll, Josh ordered a latte and the meatball roti wrap, and my sister, Min, didn't get a drink but got the falafel wrap. The service was efficient and the food and drinks all came out really quickly. The coffees were decent and the food was good. My chicken sandwich was still cold in the middle, which was disappointing but it was still tasty- I liked the addition of red onion. Josh's meatball roti and Amira's falafel wrap were both really tasty as well (I had a bite of each!) and both cooked through. All in all, not a bad place for a quick bite to eat in the city. Prices were also reasonable.

Just ordered a chicken & avo panini at $5 to take away fresh. Took it back to work to put inside the sandwich press and discovered the horror inside - "chicken" with some kind of clear jelly coating each rubbery piece. OH and one very sad small square of squashed avo. If it wasn't for the price, I'd be fuming that I had to go out again to buy another lunch.

Small little corner shop with quick cheap eats on the run. Choose your wraps and get them toasted for $5 each. Rotis are $7.90, still a bargain and I highly recommend the cajun chicken roti. Make sure you stand close when they call out your food to avoid mixed up orders. Eat in is great as there are usually music nearby to enjoy.

Very bad service, had my order mixed up twice and embaressed me in front of everyone. Had to wait so long for my order to arrive! Please prepare for it

The $5 lunch specials are amazing value for the Melbourne CBD, especially in such a great location in Centre Place.

The spinach and cheese borek is really tasty, although not up there with the Borek Bakehouse up north in the CBD. Still very nice though.

I ordered a wrap another time and it was dry and disappointing. Be selective about what you order and it's a great value lunch!

Centro as the name suggests is centrally located on Flinders lane in one of the busiest food by lanes. I regularly go to this place for wraps and Nutella donuts. The falafel wraps are pretty good as they do a traditional bread with a pretty tasty layer of Zaatar and if you go later during the day they might mark them down at $5 a wrap. Good value for Money I reckon. Recommend this place if ur looking for quick bite on the go during lunch.

Small local gem. Efficient staff and easily missed due to small size. The food and coffee is cheap and delicious. $10 combo will have me coming back for more.

Super cheap sandwiches, focaccias, wraps and whatnot. I took away a chicken focaccia and had it toasted. It was really tasty. Such good value! I will definitely be back to try more.

The coffee here is great and combined with the $5 standard food is super convenient. The only down fall of this cafe is the service on certain days, there are two girls in particular who spend their time chatting then when you come to order they have this attitude like you've inconvenienced them by interrupting their conversation.
Which is a shame because the chicks in the cafe next right beside are lovely, make a wicked soy latte and they have no eftpos min or surcharge.

Pricing n Item Name on Menu in Different Color prevent Information Clutter n Up Profits. I wish that the menu board of the cafe could segregate the colour of the pricing information with the colour of the product name information to offer some clarity and organisation to the menu board to prevent information clutter. This brings convenience to the customers and with a pleased potential customers brings sales, profits and happiness.

A perfect spot for people watching. That is, if you actually get a spot. The space here (and any other shops on Centre Place) is absolute premium and many people buy their toasted sandwiches to takeaway.

Brilliant tendorri chicken focaccia! The ladies working here are absolutely lovely. Service and personality. That's like the cafe Holy Spirit.

Great Service and Product!. We had a quick bite and coffee here yesterday on our last day in Melbourne. Engaging staff with good coffee and a lovely fresh Ciabatta! Next time we are wandering the streets of Melbourne for a coffee we will definitely drop in!

One of the better takeaway coffees I've had. The cheapo coffee-and-bekky-sanger place outside the low-rent accommodation where I'm staying temporarily was closed on an early Sunday morning, so I had to to ramble further afoot in search of my morning fix. Centro Espresso was pumping out the coffees at 8:30, though, as were many of the other places along the Centro and Desgraves laneways between Flinders and Collins. What a great nice that is for food and bevvies, eh?

The large flat white that Centro Espresso made me was darn good for a takeaway coffee. Well-rounded mellow flavour without being wimpy, perfectly microfoamed milk which was up to the usual high Australian standards, no papery taste from the disposable cup it was in. Nice price, too -- only $3.50 for a large (16 oz'er). Centro Espresso seems to focus more on sandwiches and pita wraps, but I like sweets with the mild bitterness of a coffee, so I had a chocolate croissant. It tasted like it was made with real butter. Even though the counter girl popped it in the microwave to warm, she did it gently enough that the dough did not toughen up or the chocolate get all melty. For a casual Sunday start-me-up, everything was perfectly done!

One of the best cafés along the tourist strip. Well-priced food and coffee with friendly service. Highly recommended.

Definitely one of the better cafes on the laneway. Great coffee and wraps all at a reasonable price

Favourite Foccacia on Centre Pl. Best range of sandwiches/wraps/foccacias and great coffee, all at a good price and the team behind the cafe are awesome to boot and very friendly.

Fresh as, and great location, as well as very healthy, perfect lunch spot

Great coffee & food. A regular hangout for myself and work colleagues. Staff are friendly and the coffee is great.. Their FAMOUS tandoori wrap with yogurt is a must. Such a wiDe variety of focaccia's and wraps, caters for everyone different tastes... : )

Great food, several vegetarian options (the falafel wrap is my favorite), and excellent coffee. the staff were very accommodating of making changes for my fussy daughter too.
