one of the best Chaoshan beef hotpots in Melbourne. excellent value for money with large plates of freshly cut beef and assorted vegetables in a set. also excellent Puning style tofu, and the beef horfun is right up there in terms of deliciousness. make sure you book ahead, and definitely request for the beef hotpot, will be one of the best hotpot dining experiences if you love food.

A small hidden Chinese restaurant with cozy ambience. Typical "poor service, but great food" restaurant. I loved their Black Bean Beef with Rice Noodle. Relatively cheap but a big portion

3.5. This is a classic place for the half mark option. It’s not a 4, it’s not a 3, it’s smack bang in the middle.
It was busy at lunchtime here as you’d expect. It’s delightfully noisy. There’s lots of not unpleasant background noise including the regular heavy chopping sound of a machete chopping the sorts of nests you see hanging in the window.
I received a good greeting and was shown straight to a table. There’s a good range of dishes on offer. Plenty for everyone. I ordered prawns and soy sauce. It’s a decent serve. 8 good sized prawns in all in a rich soy sauce with chili, onion and a few other things. The dish satisfied. The sauce was tasty with nice hints of chili. The prawns themselves were good and broadly well cooked.
This was a good experience overall. I’d happily return.

A nice comfortable spot to have a meal for 1 pax if you have cravings for roasted meat of sorts. Been here many times, and had been disappointed before when they gave me the part of the duck with mainly bones and hardly any meat.
I always go with the roast pork + duck on noodles, ask for chili oil which brings the dish to a whole new level. End of with free flow Chinese tea to wash the oil down.

Never patron this restaurant. Firstly, the menu shown was a dry roast pork. When it came, it was with sauce. When we asked why it wasn’t the same as the menu, they said it’s always like that. If u want them must tell them no sauce. We insist that it wasn’t as shown in the menu and how would we know. They kept insisting it was like that. The roast pork was obviously so soggy
and not roast pork.
Next, when we finished, they overcharged us. Asked for receipt and again they took so long to give it to us after we paid. Other customers all have their receipts. Finally they gave and returned us $6.20 and without even apologising. The staff from the start was already not friendly and seems can’t even speak proper English. How do you work in a restaurant without proper communication and service?

One of the oldest establishment in Russel St. Their roasts are great, meat are succulent and juicy. The XO pipi is great too, make sure to order with Chinese doughnut to make sure you get all those sauces off the plate! Prices are very affordable too.

Came today and had the best crispy roast pork in a while. Nice crispy crackle that wasn't too fatty but enough to enjoy the guilty pleasure. The duck was also exceptional. Quality meat and very tasty. We also had the salty egg prawn and chinese broccoli. All were very good. The pippies though I though were a bit too salty but others thought it was ok. Will definitely return especially for the Chinese roasts!!!
