Stopped here for lunch with Mrs Canuck and it was OK. The service was prompt and polite. The buffet lunch ($15) was small but had a variety of cusines. Both the dumplings and black beef were overly salty. The rest of the food was good.
I ordered the $13 Beef Salad and it was the best salad I've had in ages! There was a lot of flavour and generous servings of both beef and noodles. I'm happy that the dish just didn't include lots of lettuce - there was lettuce but at least the dressing made it taste nice instead of flavourless.
Just to note, their lunch menu has changed so it no longer includes as many options including the $10 nachos. Next time I will try the calamari.
Went to visit a friend who was staying in the apartments and decided to have a quick simple Breakfast at the adjoining cafe.
Jess welcomed us and brought us Menus and offered us coffees -coffees came out straight away and were great.
We ordered poached eggs on toast which were perfect!
Jess was on her own in the cafe ( besides the chef) and I have to say she was Very welcoming, and gave us and the other customers wonderful service !
My wife and I were quite surprised to find this local gem on a short stroll this morning and were quite impressed by what we experienced. We both ordered and enjoyed a simple, yet delicious, ham cheese and tomato toasted sandwich with a soy latte - a great bargain at $16 in total.
The general ambience of the cafe is brilliant, decked out in a modernised style with a simple layout that works well. Ample room is available for those waiting to be served for take-away coffee, which doesn't interfere with patrons wishing to engage in a light conversation with gentle music playing in the background.
Customer service exhibited throughout our visit was superb, with all three staff members serving customers politely, efficiently and courteously. We will DEFINITELY be back!!
Enjoyed a lovely caesar and salmon salad and great coffee. Service was attentive. Venue somewhat dated and could do with a bit of freshening up.
Best coffee by FAR on this part of St Kilda Road! Every 6th coffee is free if you grab a rewards card too!
I came here around 3 years prior and the vibe was altogether different. Under staffed toward the beginning of the day. Poor young lady needs to care for both side. Went there with my family. Our children cherished the pasta and fish n chips.Porterhouse meat was the absolute best. Cesar plate of mixed greens was crisp, consummately dressed with rich dressing making it an ideal dinner.
Elena (barista) is an absolute sweetheart and is always super onto it! One of the few cafes I regularly visit when on St Kilda Rd.
Love our dinner at Purple! Went there with my family. Our kids loved the pasta and fish n chips.Porterhouse beef was the very best. Cesar salad was fresh, perfectly dressed with creamy dressing making it a perfect meal.
Great, lively service (and absolutely outstanding hot chocolate) makes Purple stand out from many of the other cafés on St. Kilda road.
A must-have for breakfast is their $6 deal for a coffee and sandwich. Doesn't disappoint!
