Review The F.t Tuckshop - Melbourne

Patrick Trisna
Emerald Hill is a quaint family run cafe at South Melbourne. At only $3.80 a cup, their coffee is probably the best priced in the area. I had their home made sausage rolls to accompany my coffee, and I enjoyed it very much. The roll was packed with filling and was full of flavour. The pastry was buttery and flaky. I thought it was much tastier than many of the specialty bakeries around the area. Left a happy customer :)

Popular local cafe in South Melbourne. A lot of people who seems to live near here enjoyed breakfast! Good friendly cafe.

What a gorgeous family owned Cafe! They do home cooked meals to take home and everything is homemade. Highly recommend ♥️

Love their poached eggs and toast, and the coffee is fantastic too! This set used to be $9.90 but is now priced separately, but remains as good as it was in quality. Take your time...inside it's as if time has stood still for a few decades.

Emerald Hill Cafe catered our son's 1st birthday party in the park. They did such a wonderful job! Everything was delicious, arrived hot and on time, and everyone left the party raving about the food. Katerina was great to work with. She helped me pick the menu and was flexible about what they could offer, taking into account specific dietary requirements. We will absolutely use Emerald Hill again for future parties or events.

Very happy with Emerald Hill Cafes tray bake delivery meals and pastries during covid lockdown! Perfect for a family who doesn't have the time in the evenings to make a hot nutritious meal!
Split The Bill
A favourite haunt for workers in South Melbourne, this hole in the wall establishment gets busy at the peak of lunch time. Lunch options are $10 or under. Their specials board changes everyday but there are staples. The jaffles are great for autumn & winter (I've had the philly cheese steak & mac + cheese jaffle) and the roast beef, crispy potato and cheese wrap made me very happy. There is outdoor seating, but this definitely designed to be a pick and up and take back to your desk sort of situation.

Really good value this place. Had the cheeseburger and the chicken pesto.<br/>Cheeseburger. Excellent. 10/10 would eat again.<br/>Chicken pesto not so much. Decent, but could have a bit more flavour. Got my protein in tho.<br/>Total cost $11, cannot go wrong.

I got a steak caprese roll from here with bocconcini, basil, tomato and mayo and it was delicious and really good value at $9! The steak was a little tough and chewy however. Got a bit of a weird vibe from the staff also but will definitely be back for really reasonably priced rolls, wraps and jaffles.

Their menu is very simple (they do have daily specials), but their jaffles are so so good! They're tucked away in a little laneway with a couple of tables and (beach!) chairs so it can be really cosy there especially when the sun's out :)

Cute little hole-in-the-wall place for South Melbourne drones like myself. It’s down a bit of an alley so was hidden away for a good part of my career in this suburb, glad to have it covered and considered now. Jaffles are a weird Australian term for toasted sandwiches, that’s one of their specialities at FT Tuckshop along with the other menu options of milkshakes, sandwiches and rolls. Coffee and breakfast things too. Staff are friendly and it does carry that feeling of a good ol’ tuck shop. Minus the dodgy cash handling.

Banofee + Meatball roll + Chicken Lemongrass jaffle = YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM ahhh-mann YUM <br/><br/>The little hole in the wall is so cool. Super friendly staff and cozy seating area. Little gem to come across while taking a short cut<br/><br/>2 others pics were eaten before i even could take a photo... psst the drink is empty too lol

The simplest of take away menus in South Melbourne and delivers every time... if you are willing to wait... and you should, they are worth the wait given the loose change you pay for the top quality grub.<br/>They are essentially a catering company who make yummy Jaffles and great subs in amongst their big jobs and it works.<br/>Try the chicken schnitzel roll. It's my favourite.

Amazing place for a quick lunch without even digging a hole in one's pocket. Being vegetarian, we ordered falafel wrap and mushroom, spinach and feta jaffle. Both the dishes were delicious and the service was quick enough instead of a huge orders.<br/>Value for Money - 5/5<br/>Service - 4/5<br/>

This place is my new go to lunch spot!I have had the chicken kiev roll, minestrone soup and blt and am excited to try a jaffle and milkshake! Friendly staff, reasonable prices and great atmosphere! Can't go wrong!<br/>Edit: Still loving this place! I wish you guys had some more vego options though. I love the pumpkin pide and elma's falafel but I want a vego jaffle with some inspiration!

The jaffle + soup combo is just like a 90s cult classic - cheap, cheery and so much yes. Keep up the great flavours, I loved the beef brisket special!

Consistently good. Food hot and fresh and great value for money. Love the chicken schnitzel roll, fresh made schnitz and the toasties are great too

A shop do not accept negative comment about them. Don't even have the courtesy to put a notice outside the shop and let people know they're closed for the holiday period. They just switched their mobile off without any message. We thought something wrong with their mobile and only found out after walking few blocks away they're closed.<br/><br/>And the members of this shop do not accept negative comments and accusing me for rampaging their Facebook page because they encourage their clients to attacking me for giving them negative comments

Can't be faulted. This place is a freaking godsend. There is absolutely nothing to not love here. The service is exceptional, the food some of the best in town and the prices ridiculously reasonable. Those. Freaking. Jaffles. Their catering is also superb. One of Melbourne's finest. Good work guys. Love it.

Love this place, awesome jaffle selection (especially the cheeseburger one), really good value for money too only $7 for a coffee and jaffle. Keep up the great work!

No jaffle is worth a 25 minute wait!

Ok but nothing special.. Look, it is a great idea for a suburb like South Melbourne. Apart from a handful of places it really is a wasteland for 'foodies'. This is a nice unpretentious place but it didn't impress me enough for a return trip. <br/>My latte was watery and without the kick I needed. Sat outside in its little 'front yard' and was told coffee was only served in take away cups. For me, one of the joys of a latte at a cafe is watching the coffee cascade down the glass, revealing a creamy head. The spag-bol jaffle was cheesy and hot but nothing you couldn't make at home... and the reason you go out and pay money is that you want something you don't want to make at home.<br/>Concept would suit a mobile-food van but not worth the trip, especially with so many other options around.

A marvelous place~. Came and tried the chicken bahn mi and the banofee shake.<br/>It was very delicious, packed full of fresh looking quality ingredients, friendly service and a Cosy little eating area tucked away from the main street.<br/>I'll definitely be back to try the rest of the offerings on the menu.<br/>A grade experience!

Just what the doctor (or dentist) ordered!. Who doesn't love a jaffle? Much more user friendly than a toastie - a nice little sealed package of melted cheese goodness. In my case with delicious homemade baked beans. <br/><br/>Yummy, cheap, fresh, and the perfect lunch for when you can start to feel your mouth again after having to get a filling in the morning :-(<br/><br/>Oh so comforting on a rainy Melbourne day! Wish you were open at the weekends!

Simple food done very well. The jaffles are genius - the sort of simple food you don't find in South Melbourne (and kept at simple prices $4 each).<br/><br/>The soup is obviously made with great quality, fresh ingredients - right down to the stock. Also great value ($5 with a bread roll)<br/><br/>The meatball sub is to-die-for naughtiness that our office often indulges in for a Friday lunch.<br/><br/>Just tried the falafal lunchbox for the first time. Great value at $8 with beautiful fresh veggies, homemade dips, falafal that isn't dry (!!) pita bread and pickled veggies to finish - keep it up F.T Tuckshop!

F.T Tuckshop, a retail outlet of Food Traders Catering Company, offers South Melbourne something that not many other places do: quality lunch food at affordable prices for a working woman such as myself. While Coventry and Clarendon Streets are scattered with upmarket cafes geared towards a yuppy lunch crowd and low quality chains like Subway and KFC, F.T Tuckshop offers the middle ground, and a breath of fresh air.<br/>

My Dearest Readers :) Do you remember my little puppy Cupcake? Wanted to give you guys a little update on this silver fur ball. He’s now 8 months old, growing up much quicker than I’d like him to (even though he’s still tiny) and is generally a good boy until he starts chewing anything and everything he sees! My Little Cupcake Because Cupcake is a single dog and I’ve been organising lots of doggie dates with other friends with a dog. It’s so nice to see the dogs jump, chase and kiss each other :) Last weekend, I organised a doggie date with Serena (Piggy Eat A Lot)  and her adoptive dog Xiao Xing or simply XX (which translates to Little Star), her friends have gone on a holiday to Europe for 5 weeks so she’s dog sitting XX him ~ Cupcake and XX XX on the right is a Maltese cross Shih Tzu, I think Cupcake was a little too excited and help jumping on XX so I don’t think he was too pleased about that! But all good they eventually worked it out and had fun with each other :) Serena suggeste

Think old school jaffles, friendly faces, good coffee and meatball subs!! A little window in the wall provides your point to order and there is astro turf, wind breakers and cute tables to relax in whilst you get yourself acquainted with the menu! Now many people couldn’t go past the idea of a beans and cheese jaffle, for spag bol and cheese! They sound damn good … but so does the warm meatball sub and the banh mi! The coffee is good, warms you up with the heater on a cooler day! F.T or Food Traders are predominantly a catering business but with prime eat real estate just off Coventry Street why wouldn’t you open your front window, get a coffee machine and get some South Melbourne lunchtime $$$’! Oh Yes!! We brought our tuckshop sandwiches home… we were knew we were gonna get messy! And so you should! Oooooozing tomato sauced succulent balls!! Seriously damn good sub!! Drrooollllll!! Banh Mi – traditional Vietnamese chicken roll – so usually BBQ pork and a lot more chilli and pate goin
