Review Yarra Ranges Cafe - Melbourne

We had the Moroccan chicken salad, chicken schnitzel and a vegan mushroom and chickpea burger, and they were ALL good! Lovely coffee too 😋😋😋

Very unfriendly staff and service could be much better. I visited the place on my trip last Saturday and felt all the way as I was not welcomed - they asked rudely for my COVID full-vaxx certificate, which I showed. It felt as they hadn't believed I had one. They didn't invite me to come inside even after seeing the certificate so I had to ask for the permission to enter. Food was very standard: not particularly tasty burger and even worse chips. Coffee was colder than it is accepted. It is a place to avoid if you don't want to take a risk of spoiling your weekend.

Wonderful staff. Cute seating, including kids area + soft chairs and outdoor dining. Affordable and delicious!!

The food we had was very good - eggs benedict with smoked salmon. Generous serving of smoked salmon and is was very fresh. The coffee was average - a bit weak and milky. Staff were attentive and friendly. The reason I am giving a 2 star review is that the whole place was dirty. The bottle our water came in was dirty, the glasses were dirty, the chairs, table and especially the floor was dirty. For goodness sake, give the whole place a good clean. Include the doors and windows, and wipe the sticky door handle. YUCK!

My friend & I stopped past on the way home from our little adventure out to the redwood forest. Staff were lovely from the moment we stepped foot inside. They allowed us to have my dog out the front, prompt on coffee service also offering alternative milks (coconut cappuccino was delish). My friend and I had the share breakfast and it was amazing- we didn't even manage to get through it but my dog sure did love what we couldn't eat. My friend is allergic to nuts but they were happy to investigate on the granola (which sadly had nuts in it) but other wise delicious and highly recommend.

I've just recently returned to this cafe because the first time I went there 4yrs ago the coffee was awful. I thought I would see if things had improved when the new owners took over. I'm happy to say that the coffee is delicious! I haven't tried any of their food but from what I can see it looks really good. The staff are very friendly and smiley 😁

Lovely food and atmosphere, location is out of the way in Yarra Junction but worth the trip. 4 meals came out together and still hot; my burger had a delicious homemade patty with lovely crispy steak cut chips. Jess put the vegetarian lasagna on the special board specifically for our fathers day luncheon and it was superb. Sit out on the balcony on a nice sunny day and take advantage of the sunshine. Would recommend and will be coming back.

Food is spectacular. The owner is lovely. I would recommend the lemon pie. It is one of the greatest lemon pies I have ever eaten. Definately pop in for a bite to eat if you are in the area or passing through. Or even just drive here as your destination you will not be disappointed. If I could rate more than 5 stars I would.

New owners, new decor, new menu!

Come try something off the new menu or perhaps a cup of locally roasted coffee. Very different vibe amd so many changes to come yet

Visited this café a few weeks ago. I personally found the place had an overall dull feeling too it. The café looked simple and the staff couldn't manage a simple smile on my arrival with my children and where heard talking about topics that should not have been heard from the dining room-not professional. The poached eggs I ordered where over cooked, placed on dry toast and I noticed when leaving a lot of food was being microwaved. Price of food is fair and gluten free/vegetarian options didn't go astray. No toilet for patrons on premises which is not okay for a supposedly kid friendly café. Coffee was drinkable but fairly watery-I would not say "the best." This café has a long way to go in relation to cooking good quality meals, approaching paying customers and picking up the overall vibe of the café. Will not be returning in future.

Just dropped in here for a quick coffee. The cafe is decidedly downmarket, looks a bit grubby and cluttered. Some small attempt to provide some atmosphere in the dining area, but decor is generally not appealing. Did not have a meal (nor am likely to), but coffee was acceptable. Service was perfunctory without a smile.

I work locally to this Cafe and I always pop in, I love their baked potato's! They are amazing and very well priced. I would recommend it to anyone :-)

Stopped here while cycling the Warburton rail trail. Good coffee. Sit out the back if you can, away from the traffics. Service was slow but friendly.

Toxic little cafe.

Staff were loudly badmouthing someone when I walked in and the woman who served me was rude. When I sat down, I could still hear angry voices coming from the kitchen area.

The coffee was OK, but the interior was dirty and the dark energy of the place really put me off.

I have been a fairly regular customer for a few months now and find the service and food fantastic. The coffee is some of the best I have had, and I'm a bit of a coffee nut :). Well done to the crew at The Ranges Cafe

Extremely disappointed with the breakfast i received. Ordered an eggs benedict and I couldn't eat the eggs, the white was undercooked and the yolk was hard, the constant whirring of the microwave in the background leads me to believe the poached eggs were prepared in this manner. The eggs were served on a standard piece of toast with a very ordinary looking piece of ham. The worst eggs benedict i have ever experienced. The only redeeming quality was the coffee, which wasn't bad.

Disappointing Scones. Really disappointing scones.
Came once before and had really nice traditional scones, really big and crispy on the outside while soft and light on the inside. Came again to experience the same delicious scones and was left so disappointed. They were really cake like and very small for the price of $14.50!
Won't be back again. Don't know how you can get it so right one day and so wrong another. Especially when the on first visit was a busy weekend day and the next was a very quiet weekday.

Wish I had walked back out. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Close the doors now. I got sucked into this place by the sign spruiking " the best coffee in the valley". Talk about false advertising. If that's the best I would hate to see the worst. Take my advice... do not bother.

Unhappy. Food was far below average. No flavour what so ever with the vegie burger and they were out of half of the ingrediants. Chips were soggy. My friend got a salad that was something I could make at home. Only good thing was the fresh roll. One staff member was very polite the other was rude. Won't be back

Ranges Cafe advertise "Breakfast all day", because it takes all day to get your breakfast!! I don't like criticizing, so I hope that the Cafe takes this as an opportunity to smarten up their act. Last Sunday it took 45 minutes from the time that I ordered to get my meal of scrambled eggs and bacon, after querying several times how much longer until our meals arrived. Our meals all came out separately, at different intervals. A coffee, requested to get first up, took 25 mins after being queried a couple of times. A juice out of the fridge took 30 mins to arrive!! Staff were friendly, service was appalling, and the place wasn't even half full!

Best Cafe in Junction!. Dropped in on the weekend and was looked after by a very attentive young guy. Coffee was great and arrived very quickly to the table. Menu is quite extensive and has something for everyone. Will definitely be back next time I am in that area
