Review Hi Chong Qing - Melbourne

Jiamin Guo
It was such a nice find. The chef was really nice and gave me a good recommendation and I got the signature noodles with beef and beef tendon original spice. It was so yummy and flavoursome. The spice packed a nice punch. Delicious. If you can't handle spice I recommend 0 spice rather than less spice since my friend couldn't take it that well.

I only come here after reading the review about their beef noodle but unfortunately it's sold out. The only option I have is Signature noodle. Since it's only vegies (no meat) in the signature noodle, I add some mince pork topping. The noodle come out very quick but nothing special about it's taste, I ordered little spicy but the soup was really salty and not spicy at all (I still need to put on lots of chilli). But I'll go back to try the beef noodle. Very friendly owner who provide good service.

I work nearby and come here once (sometimes twice) a week. Their food is delicious. The noodles are the perfect texture and the broth is delicious and full of flavour without being overpowering or heavy. The meat is perfectly cooked. I have the signature with beef or the pork with chickpea every time. Both are delicious

I didn’t personally like my noodles because I’m from Chongqing, born and raised and this tasted nothing remotely like Chongqing noodles from home. Very bland and oily, no fragrance of the chilli (没有香味和辣味), not spicy either even though I orders extra spicy. However it’s great for aussie taste, or someone beginner to Chongqing noodles. The noodles and beef were tasty in texture. The server was very friendly and smiley. Service was fast. Husband (who’s Aussie) loved his vegetarian noodles.

This place is amazing! Kevin is super friendly, and I could not fault the bowl of signature vegetarian noodles I got - the noodles were amazing, the broth was perfect and the peanuts added a lovely crunchy extra touch. The value for money is also amazing. I would highly recommend going out of your way to visit :)

Beef cooked so well… Broth so flavourful. The spice was just right. Perfect for a cool winters day. It was reminiscent of ramen, but not at the same time - the flavours in the broth were different. The owners gave us some really good dish recommendations too, which were yummy! Looking forward to coming back to this place.

A must try. Here you will find outstanding noodles in the best broth you will find in Melbourne. The richness and depth of flavour is mind blowing without being overbearing. Such good balance. When I ordered multiple bowls, including one for our little girl (number 4, no spice! which she loved) the guy suggested we stage the noodle bowls to ensure the noodles aren’t left sitting in the hot broth too long, compromising there texture - he had me sold on that show of such dedication to serving an amazing meal perfectly executed. Also love the spicy kick they pack at standard level. Go original level spice only if you are comfortable with a bit of heat. Note it is not yet a licensed venue, so save the beer for afterwards. Once you’ve taste the noodles you’ll soon forget about the beer ;)

This was slurpilious! The Beef was slow cooked til its so soft and tender Noodles had a good bouncy chewy texture. Happy Bellies

The BEST Ramen I have ever eaten. I eat from this place at least twice a week and it’s so affordable it doesn’t even hurt. An absolute gem of a place. Worth every penny you spend there.

Food: The was the least impressive out of the whole experience. But still worth the visit. No beer though. =(<br/><br/>Service: The gentleman who served us was extremely friendly. He was also the cook. Gave us a good introduction to the establishment and the food.<br/><br/>Ambience: The place was actually very warm and welcoming. Very homely.<br/><br/>Value: Was featured in Good Food guide for cheap eats.

Decided to try this place out after reading an article featuring this restaurant for best noodles in melbourne!<br/><br/>It was surprisingly really quiet when we visited on a monday night. The place was not big nor fancy but it was quite cute with a reasonable amount of seats. The staffs were friendly and food were quick.<br/><br/>Had the signature CQ noodles with pork (addition). I liked the noodles as it had a chewy texture and a nice bite to it, it does gets softer as I eat (as with most noodles). The broth was bit thick so I asked if I could have more soup and was informed that it was supposed to be dry. He kindly explained that it depends on personal preference (some liked it even drier) and added extra soup for me. I chose no spice at all, and the soup itself was nice and flavourful without being too strong though I would probably go with the beef the next time as the pork made it too oily and flavorful. Portion was satisfying and i like the crunch from the peanuts!<br/><br/>My sister got it in medium spice and it was not that spicy either, just the right amount for my taste. Thus I would recommend getting less spice or even medium spice as it elevates the dish than without any spice. Also since there was no topping, the soup was clearer and more enjoyable.<br/><br/>Overall a pretty great place for some noodle fix with a reasonable price!<br/><br/>( follow for more!✨)<br/><br/>xx,joelle.
Gee
Believe the hype - this is badass! I haven’t eaten these noodles in China to compare, but I had tried visiting here before and they were all sold out of the beef noodles - their speciality. This time however, I was in luck. Had the beef and tendon mix at a mild spice level which was still quite spicy. The broth was flavoursome and more-ish. Would definitely have this again!

Telling your friends you went to "Hi Chong Qing" sounds like you're racist but it's GENUINELY the place's name<br/><br/>Ordered:<br/>🍜 Signature ChongQing (CQ) Noodles: with less spice. This bowl of noodles of noodles is an explosion of flavor from the first bite as it uses more than 10 ingredients to make the sauce and soup ($10.80)<br/>+ 🐮 beef ($3.00)<br/><br/>Review:<br/>Unbelievable, unbeatable price for the decent quantity. Hi CQ's spicy levels are spot on. They recommended less spice for me who eats spice ~once a week and I found myself enjoying, but also dying, over this meal.<br/><br/>Adding beef is a fantastic choice (thanks zomato fam) as it adds a bit more texture and toughness to the dish.<br/><br/>The detail in their interior makes this place really fun. From the themed meme pillows, the calligraphy to the small knick knacks, hi CQ has a lot of character. I loved the use of wooden chopsticks and their interesting wooden spoon!<br/>I'm working on the hypothesis that wooden spoons give the illusion of more flavour 🤣.

Hi Chongqing - Melbourne⁣<br/>Spicy Pork Mince & Chickpea Noodle Soup⁣<br/>Well well well, another day another Sichuan soup, this time smack back in the middle of university territory. ⁣<br/>HiChongqing or Hi HC Cafe has really made quite the entrance into the Melbourne noodle soup scene. A cute restaurant with cute furniture and even cuter doggo cushions. They’ve really got it all. While I did come here to stare at the dog cushions I also came here to slurp slurp slurp. I ordered the spicy pork mince and my guest celebrity reviewer @bensonaus ordered the spicy beef noodles. What came out moments later were two delicious and contrasting bowls of the gods nectar. My pork mince and chickpeas was a piece of art. Pork to the left of me chickpeas to the right, here I am stock in the middle of the two. Yum. Yum. Yum. The crunch of the peas and peanuts, the bite of the noodles and the slurp of the broth all worked so well together. SYNERGY FOLKS. The Sichuan peppers were plentiful but not enough to overpower - nice and balanced. I had a quick dig at Benson’s spicy beef soup too. It was delicious beef - the stock had quite the powwow to it - quite spicy but also very oily. Which is what you should expect with Sichuan soups - this is ALOT. I’d say the pork mince was the better of the two but both are good options! ⁣Get here soon before the whole of Melbourne finds out about this place. (Bonus service star for dog cushions coz why tf not). ⁣<br/>🥢🥢🥢🥢🥢⁣<br/>Broth Flavour: 🍜🍜🍜🍜/5⁣<br/>Soup ingredients: 🍜🍜🍜🍜/5⁣<br/>Service: 🍜🍜🍜🍜/5⁣<br/>Overall: 🍜🍜🍜🍜/5⁣<br/>🥢🥢🥢🥢🥢

I’ve been here quite regularly during the semester and now miss them! I tried their 3 noodles (broths) and I strongly recommend the Herbal soup one! <br/>But if you are new, should try their signature CQ noodle first as I tried herbal soup noodle just recently and I found that’s the best.<br/>I love spicy hot but mild, and there are options. I always choose less spicy. <br/><br/>Also the staff are friendly and nice. They serve beautiful coffee as well and you don’t have to go to grab coffee somewhere else after noodle, which is also 👍<br/><br/>PS<br/>I love their calligraphy artworks on the wall.

Enjoyed the noodles, probably one of the best ones I've had in Melbourne. Was nice of the owner to ask how the meal was. Would definately be back next time I'm in the area.

My friend told me took me here to try the noodles and I do not regret going one bit. I just got the signature and it reminded me of being back in China! I’ll definitely be back.

Signature Chong Qing noodles ($10.80)<br/>⭐️ 4.5/ 5 ⭐️<br/>🍴Voted by #timeoutmelbourne as the “best noodles in Melbourne”, we may not necessarily agree as it’s hard to define “best” noodles but the ones served here are certainly delicious and worth a try! At a pretty affordable price (even when adding $3 for meat), you get a delicious pork broth packed with flavours; I can’t pick out all 10 ingredients that supposedly go in besides the peanuts, coriander, garlic & ginger but the highly flavorful soup leaves me wanting more. The noodles are fresh and springy and cooked really well. You can also choose your spicy level so for those wanting more kick, adding lots of Sichuan peppercorns is an option. Already imagining how good this warm satisfying soup will be when winter comes~<br/>📍@hi.cq, UniLodge D2, 26 Orr St Carlton, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia <br/>#cafehoppingkidsmelbourne

3.5/5<br/><br/>Came with a pretty high expectation due to the high ratings and good reviews.<br/><br/>Got the spicy beef noodles and I felt it is just a tad above average, didnt really amaze me. haha. Most reviewers mentioned the noodles are chewy, but I find it pretty average when compared to lanzhou/biang biang noodles. But to be fair, chongqing style noodles may be different than lanzhou's. 🙈🙈<br/><br/>The soup tasted a little bland at first but overtime the flavor grows which is good. Because I'm a soup drinker, I find the soup a tad too oily - but there should be chilli oil in it cos it's a spicy noodle soup. haha.<br/><br/>Overall an above average noodle place with amazing service. 🙌🙌

Cosy little spot for Chong Qing noodles, delicious handmade noodles and broth with tofu! :’) <br/>Great price and noodle consistency. <br/><br/>Will return for sure when next noodlecraving!

Must have got them in between their lunch and dinner crowd. Was very quiet at the time but the staff were very friendly. Cheaper than average as well. For $13 it’s very good value. We had the Chong Qing noodle (with tofu) and the spicy beef noodle. I actually preferred the CQ noodle - it’s a wonderful combination of flavours. The spicy beef noodle was good but I ordered it extra spicy... and that was rather too spicy to drink the broth. As the waiter says, original spicy is for those who eat chilli a few times a week. He was right!
Nicole MH Lee
Everything on the menu looked good and was indecisive but got recommended to try the signature chong qing noodles. I added beef and it was a good choice to because the beef was very tender. <br/>Some places the beef is so tough that I dont end up eating most of it but this place 👌🏻👌🏻.<br/>Another good thing is they have different spice levels and with someone who is a wuss with spice it was helpful. Noodles were silky thin ones which went well with the soup. Sodium level was just right which I loved.

We were curious to try this place for a while now after it’d been featured in Time Out Melbourne and Good Food. It’s a quaint little place tucked in an alleyway close to Lygon St, with not much seating space and only one staff working when we came.<br/><br/>The menu is quite small, with only 5 items which are all noodle dishes. Unfortunately, both the Beef Tendon Noodles and the Chinese Herbal Beef Noodles were sold out, which was disappointing. So we just ordered the 3 that were available.<br/><br/>The famous Signature Chongqing Noodles was delicious, the broth was very flavourful and with just a slight spice (at the less spicy level). The Spicy Beef Noodles has a numbing broth, very different from the signature one. Not my favourite, but if you prefer something heartier and spicier, this would be perfect. However, the Pork Mince & Chickpea Noodles were probably my favourite - the toppings added a nice texture with the noodles. <br/><br/>For each bowl, the noodles were cooked to perfection - very fresh and a nice chew. The only thing we found is that the noodle portions were rather small compared to other Chinese noodle joints, so I’d definitely recommend getting an extra serve of noodles if you’re hungry.<br/><br/>Overall, we had a nice meal at Hi Chong Qing and left quite happy. If you’re in the area, it’s worth checking out.

This place is great. I love getting the spicy beef noodles (half spice). The noodles are nice and chewy, the broth is not overpowering, and the MEAT. The meat breaks apart in your mouth.<br/>I would highly recommend getting extra beef tendons.
Chey_ct
Been meaning to try this place as it is often featured in lists. It sure did not disappoint! We ordered the Signature ChongQing noodles, spicy beef noodles and pork mince and chickpea noodles. Mine were the Signature ones and I'm not usually a big fan of vegetarian but this time, I didn't feel the need for meat. Flavourful broth. The noodles were gorgeous as to be expected. Tasted fresh, not too hard and not too soft and unique. Fascinating really that different regions in China have different kind of noodles. A note of caution regarding spicyness levels as Original Spice was in my opinion, pretty spicy! Cosy, casual setting with cute dog cushions that will make you smile. Slightly cheaper than average prices.

Firstly the random pillows scattered around the shop, we had a field day with them. Their menu is very small and straight to the point focusing primarily on Chongqing style noodle soups, I personally don't mind as they are playing to their strengths.<br/><br/>I steer away from their signature Chongqing noodles as I was enticed by their spicy beef and tendon noodle soup. Noodles had a bit of a bite to them initially, a great start. The broth was very complex, herbaceous and slightly spicy which was perfect for me (I asked for less spicy). The beef and tendon themselves could have been more tender and soft, still decent but not the most important component.<br/><br/>Friendly staff, a bit hidden but you'd see a few students and teachers wonder in here given it's locality.

Makes going to uni so much more appealing, when the best noodles and coffee are in a 2 minuet walk from your classroom: favourite restaurant in Melbourne, inexpensive, loaded with favour, such an authentic bowl of noodle

Ended up coming here on a lunch break with high hopes from the positive reviews, but I found the experience to be lackluster. There were no stand outs as far atmosphere or service goes, and the food was mediocre.<br/><br/>The Beef Tendon noodles were unavailable that day, unfortunately— maybe they would’ve tasted better (who knows)? And I ended getting the Signature Spicy Beef noodles. The noodles were packaged, definitely not hand made, and a little too chewy for my tastes. Then, the soup tasted more of the vegetables they’d put inside than it did of the beef. <br/><br/>Overall, really meh. Wouldn’t go back when there are far better noodle shops in Melbourne.

Incredible food. So flavoursome and a generous portion. Had the pork and chickpea dry noodles. The quality of the cooking and ingredients was excellent. Friendly staff too. Will return.

Friendly and helpful service and wonderful home style cooking; made in-house noodles are delicious; quality ingredients are fresh and cooked with passion.  We will definitely be back!

Hi Chong Qing! Run by a very friendly couple, we had the signature spicy beef and the chickpea and mince pork noodles..<br/>It was awesome! Full of flavour and noodles were tangy and felt authentic.. We probably should have tried the signature chongqing noodles but will definitely come back again to give it a go..<br/>Must come for noodle lovers comparable to some of the finer ramen shops..
Tristan Danino
Amazing, authentic noodle soup—one of the best I've had outside of China or Taiwan. They're also so lovely and friendly, and accomodating of people with intolerances or allergies. Would definitely recommend.

The vegetarian dish is DELICIOUS! Try it with the tofu. All of their menu is super affordable, filling, with generous portions and it’s so incredibly tasty.<br/><br/>The owners are so friendly and genuinely care about their food and customers — every time I’ve been in, they’ve remembered my order. Can’t recommend this little gem enough!

This is a crazy choice to choose this noodle restaurant,I tried a lot of types of noodle in city, but I think Hi cq is my favorite one so far for me.I love the flavor for every type of noodles. For me,my optimal choice of these types is beef noodle, the flavor is incredible!!

Food was incredible ! I got the signature with added spicy beef<br/>Perfect balance of flavour and the texture of the peanuts with the hand made noodles were such a pleasure to eat <br/>Perfect for Melbourne winters <br/>Staff were super friendly and happy to explain menu

Group of 9 of us came here, we ordered the number 1 & 2 noodles. My golly, every bowl was devoured. Delicious, authentic and very unique noodles. Definitely a first in Melbourne. Do yourselves a favour and make a trip down here!

It was a cold and miserable day for me when I stumbled upon Hi Chong Qing, an unassuming shop, on Orr st. I really hoped for a pleasant surprise after a tough day at work in the harsh Melbourne winter. I sat down and was warmly greeted by the owner and his partner. A pleasant chat was followed by personalised service from this partner run restaurant. <br/><br/>You can instantly tell how passionate the owner is about his beef noodles after speaking to him about the background of the noodle shop. I peered through the small yet specialised menu, which I really appreciated as I can never make a decision on a large menu. I ordered the Chinese herbs beef noodle, which came highly recommended by the owner, for those who prefer a more herbal and less spicy experience. <br/><br/>A short moment later, a steaming hot bowl of noodles and beef sat in front of me. The first thing I noticed was the simple yet hunger inducing presentation. The beef sat perfectly on top of the soft noodles, and the soup was extremely fragrant, finished off with sprinkles of fresh spring onions. <br/><br/>I took my first few bites, closing my eyes while taking in all the flavours "mmmmmm mmmm", simply delicious. It wasn't long before I was staring at the bottom of the bowl. I can still remember that last spoonful of soul restoring hot soup.... <br/><br/>The soup was priced at 15.80, a little pricier than other options on the menu, but in my mind, ,was worth it for the rave party that this brought to my taste buds. I highly recommend this dish and i'll definitely be back soon to go through all the other dishes on the menu.
Thunder8621
A must try!! Not your ordinary bowl of Chinese noodles, the flavours are authentic, unique and unforgettable and the service is careful and attentive. The result of a 5 item menu is mastery of each dish!

Cold dreary weather pushed me to visit Hi Chong Qing last night and I was not disappointed.<br/>Fighting the first signs of a cold, I refused to allow jetlag to dampen my spirits as I made my way across the city to try a bowl of what I was advised was proper Chong Qing noodles *cough* don't try Mr Meng *cough*<br/>While there are only 5 menu items, I found myself having difficulty deciding which to order, so took the easy way out and asked to try the owner's favourite.<br/>And it was amazing.<br/>A generous serving of delicious bouncy noodles nestled in a full flavoured broth topped with tender beef. I especially liked what I think was finely chopped pickled greens in my soup.<br/>The photos speak for themselves.<br/>Well done guys!<br/>You're out there making and sharing food that you love and you should be very proud!<br/>I cant wait to come back and try the rest 😋😋

We always wanted to go here because of the review from online media. As we expected, our ramens are very delicious! We could tell that the owner/chef put his heart and soul in the cooking. The price is very reasonable, the portion is generous. Visit this place during this winter if you wanna enjoy home made feel ramen

My name is muttons and I am a fimble Street Fighter player in Melbourne. I write this long-ass review not because I believe in voting systems or Zomato metrics but because I believe in the power and majesty of Kevin's noodles.<br/><br/>I visited Kevin's joint yesterday, and sat outside waiting for my friends to show up while eavesdropping on him talking to another customer. He was talking about how he left his previous job in IT management to go learn the art of noodle making from a noodle sensei in China. Well, selfishly I'm glad he made this career choice because Hi Chong Qing is a hell of a hidden gem right next to the south end of Lygon Street. If you get tired of overpriced touristy italian food in that area, walk over to 26 Orr Street and have yourself a glorious bowl of tender soft meat, ten-spice broth and succulent juicy noodles.<br/><br/>There's only five items on the menu, but by focusing the energies of his small team onto a precise number of dishes there’s no a dilution of culinary intent/taste with each bowl packing a considerable punch. When we got there around 8PM two of the five dishes had already sold out!<br/><br/>I had #1 on the menu which was the Signature ChongQing Noodles, and Kevin even gave me a side dish of minced pork with preserved vegetables to go with it. (That minced meat was damn tasty, he could slap that on a bowl of rice and sell it at 6 bucks a bowl and make a killing. We told him about that and he said he preferred to focus on his noodles and not branch out to other rice dishes to appease the masses - a true artist.) The meat was soft and tender, the noodles writhing mouthfuls of elasticity and spice. Pretty good serving portions and price too!<br/><br/>My other three friends got #2 – the Spicy Beef Noodles. Apparently that’s the noodles that got Kevin to quit his day job in the first place. Judging by the reactions on my friend’s faces and the pristine unsullied bottoms of their noodle bowls five minutes after they hit the table – I think they saw the light too.<br/><br/>I intend to go back and try every item on the menu. With Lygon gelato after.

This place is HANDS DOWN the best standalone Chongqing noodle joint outside of China. I had the Signature spicy beef noodles. The soup base was perfectly balanced- a delicate mix of spice combined with warm sichuan flavours and a deep brothy undercurrent. The soup was complex in flavour but not heavy. Wheat noodles were of high quality; a gelatinous exterior yet simultaneously firm. Beef was very flavourful, cooked well but not overly tender to fall apart and flop everywhere. Owner Kevin is an extremely passionate and nice person. By our discussion is genuinely committed to providing authentic cuisine. This is a must try place. Update: after being to this place a few more times I feel I need to adjust my rating slightly downwards from an initial 4.5 to a 4.0. I have felt wanting a little more and believe the portion sizes could be increased for the price. The additional extras push the price up, a little over what I think is good value. Without them, I felt a little hungry afterwards. Also on all of my visits at least one of the dishes were unavailable which is disappointing. I will revisit this in future.

My friend brought me here earlier in the week, I had no idea what to expect.<br/><br/>But it was really superb.<br/><br/>The owner/chef really pours his heart and soul into these noodles his pushing out. The beef is really tender. The soup is really flavoursome, well balanced with theright amount of spice and savour. Noodles and the peanuts and chives marry everything together really well.<br/><br/>Will Def come back, try it out guys!<br/><br/>
Monica612
The beef tender noodles is quite good. They use the fresh noodle as the Chongqingnese does!  The flavour is quite authentic, compared to many others in the CBD area. The best thing here is NO MSG, at least I cannot taste any. You don't feel thirsty afterwards.  I will try the beef noodle next time.

Followed by the unsatisfying experience during my lunch hour, I searched a little online and came across this little noodle restaurant situated in Carlton right behind RMIT building group. I went in with my boyfriend and the first thing we noticed was their little menu on blackboard and I immediately had a great instinct towards this restaurant. My personal favourite restaurant type for a quick fix of dinner should not come with an extensive menu but rather a delicate and specialised one. Simple but to the point. And this restaurant is exactly what I just described.<br/><br/>The owner of the business Kevin was welcoming and attentive. He could sense my boyfriend and I might be sensitive to chilli therefore he went into great details to explain the fine but distinctive differences in each of the menu item particularly in terms of temperature, spicy level and complex flavour layers. Therefore we made informed decisions on what we want plus the additional ingredients. Upon serving our noodles, Kevin patiently explained to us how to mix ingredients properly and prompted us on eating while the noodles were at the right temperature. First thing was first, the noodles were cooked exactly to the al dente degree I loved in a timely fashion, not one second less or over! We first ordered noodles in sauce to mix rather than those in soup because Kevin reckoned the outdoor temperature today was way too high for a bowl of soup. You know the moment when every seasoning was proportionally right?? Kevin customised the chilli level for both of us therefore we had very minor numbing sensation without the overpowering unpleasant feeling on our palettes. The beef contained right amount of moist and fat. It was tender and juicy, almost melted in my mouth! The sauce itself was neither salty nor oily and the amount of it was even perfect. It was fragrant and packed with full of gentle and warm flavours! The taste was so right we couldn't resist on ordering the third bowl despite how comfortably full we were. Third bowl was soup based. Everything about it was just right as well! At this point we could tell, Kevin definitely put his heart and soul in making his noodles. We were so impressed and will definitely become a regular here!

This place is like the Chinese version of the Japanese ramen bar, that specialised in just Chinese noodles. Small menu, but each bowl of noodles are cooked to perfection. From the delicious meat broth the noodles. Highly recommend for noodles lover!
Lily Zou
Very nice food and service, you can tell the owners really put their hearts in it. I particularly like their noodle broth, almost exactly the same like the ones I had in China. Definitely recommend it!
Andrew Tai
Authentic and meat was very tender. Service was good and the owners seem to genuinely care about the food. Would definitely come again and look forward to try other dishes

For a while, I thought I was over noodles until I discovered this place... MAN their noodles are delicious and the flavour is so rich. I made the mistake of going to Dainty SiChuan after visiting this restaurant, never again!! <br/>Word of advice: if you can't tolerate spiciness, let the chef know!

Nice hidden noodle shop. Noodle taste good and quite authentic :) Service is attentative, it was interesting to hear the owner shareing his story about giving up the corporate career to pursue his food passion. Wouldnt mind coming back again.

perfect experience, delicious noodle and comfortable environment.<br/>especially beef in the noodle soup,it's worth to try it.<br/>The most traditional and authentic Chongqing noodle.<br/>Hope have it every day!

Amazing noodles and even better broth! Hard to find such authentic soups these days. Hi Chong Qing definitely has it. Will be coming back with family and friends.

Like many hidden gems in Melbourne, this unassuming restaurant is tucked away in a small laneway just off Victoria Parade nestled amongst RMIT buildings.<br/>Highly recommend the pork mince and chickpea noodles. The spicy beef noodles are also great for those who like it hot. Cheap and delicious! Will be back for more!
Lowina Blackman
Kevin the owner and his girlfriend are very friendly, they put their heart & energy into making the broth and noodles, which you can taste their love in each bowl of noodle. We’re regulars now, as the location is perfect for if you are working / studying near RMIT.<br/>They makes good coffee too!
Anthony Leong
Very authentic ChongQing noodle. The beef is the top notch and must try! Humble beginning by a young couple with proper preparation and fresh ingredient bowl by bowl! Highly recommended!
Andrew Jia
Hidden gem. Very delicious noodles, silky smooth and the soup was gorgeous fragrant and traditional. I go here once a week at least to get my fix you should too. Friendly and hardworking Boss Kevin and DD always have a smile on their face. Ask for the extra egg and the mix tendon/beef.

Amazing noodles. Would definitely come again! I had the spicy beef noodles and it was the perfect spice and quantity. The service was fast and the owners are lovely.

Great new place, consider it a new hidden gem. <br/>You've had Chinese food before, and probably noodles, but not like this. This small establishment has a couple of really authentic, dishes that each have a great distinct flavour profiles. <br/>Check it out. <br/>Ive been twice in two weeks and will be back to try the other dishes!

Better than dainty noodles. Flavourful and I don't get thirsty after. Love places with a small specialised menu. One of my favourites, come here at least once a week now

Just had the signature spicy beef noodles, the soup was real flavoursome! Staff was able to adjust spice level to suit your taste! Recommend! Will be back!
