Cute cafe and friendly staff. Tried a range of coffee here (Mocha, chai latte,Flat white) and always loved 😊👍
Would like to explore their breakfast options as well on my next visit.
Saruman's :)
Started today in the city by visiting Sargon Cafe on La Trobe Street for breakfast. My Inner Tolkien Geek however feels that Saruman's is a much better name and so henceforth it shall be known as Saruman's by all and sundry. I ordered a vegie omelette for breakfast as I was looking to have something healthy and after I spoke to the nice, friendly waitress and paid for it I took a seat upstairs.
It's a nice relaxing place is Saruman's and if I may be so bold I must say they do a mean vegie omelette. I mean, this thing was light, fluffy, delicious and full of healthy, tasty and nutritious vegies. Can't go wrong. I had it with a peppermint tea as I feel like I've been drinking too much coffee and Hot Chocolate lately.
Saruman's: Best vegie Omelettes this side of the Shire :)
What a little gem. Great coffee, and most importantly consistantly great coffee. The staff are ace, love the girls who work out front, worth a little detour if you're in the CBD.
Sargon makes good coffee and this Latrobe gets the thumbs up for quality. Great staff and lots of cafe type foods makes this a worthy quick eats or coffee option when this end of town. Swine approved.
Sargon good so far. Yet another cafe in the La Trobe St strip, which is being transformed from industrial and commercial buildings to high rise residential. Sargon is at the back of the Argus building, Melbourne's long-defunct newspaper, which now hosts education services.
My first taste of the menu was an old school ham, cheese and tomato toasted sandwich, which the friendly staff made up on seeded bread without butter as requested. A simple lunch but high quality and good value as it was enormous. The food displays look fresh and there's always a morning crowd for coffees, in a competitive market. There are also lunch, coffee and muffin etc specials which seem to keep the customers happy. It's not a place to wow you with its innovative offerings but has solid options at reasonable prices.
Good looking café with a modern-classical fit out for coffee, toasts, cakes, takeaway lunches and more recently I’ve noticed a more varied and better selection of food to select from. There isn't much space downstairs to sit, however there is a small area upstairs to sit and enjoy coffee and meal, but, it is small and tends to fill up quickly. The hot chocolate and latte were very good and the toast has always been well done here with no complaints. The service is generally friendly and the staff appear happy and willing to partake in some conversation together with a smile! Worth dropping in for a quick coffee for light meal. Make a nice change from the usual dreary cafes in the area.
