The hot bar menu was delicious and big serving size for one person. Customer service were excellent too. I was so happy and definitely would go back again to try out different dishes.
Thanks, Warung Sambal Ijo. I had good experience when eating at yours. Grilled fish was great, cooked properly and spicyness just right.
Very friendly staff, outstanding tender beef rendang, good value for money
Positives - chef was really really accommodating. My partner is a vegetarian. Thankfully they were very honest and told us that none of the curry was vegetarian friendly as they contained prawn paste. The chef happily offered to customise a dish with fried tempeh in sweet and spicy sauce, which was absolutely delicious. The nasi Padang there looked pretty delicious too, with lots of options available and decently priced.
Not so good - the Ayam Bakar (grilled chicken) I ordered was not cooked thoroughly. They were, however, very apologetic and offered to give me a new piece. Food also took a while to arrive.
Will come back to try other dishes and nasi padang
The place was empty when we got in, with quite lots of seats inside. The girl serving us was just really nice, explaining things to us patiently. The waiting time for some cooked food were however was bit long, I think they need more chefs :')
Beef rendang was great, for the price it's really worth it. The flavour was there, it's tender and flavorsome so I'd definitely recommend it.
Corn fritters and fried stuffed tofu were delishhh but they were unfortunately bit too oily.
Bakso tahu (tofu meatballs) were okay, the soup was bit too salty and noodles were bit soft but the meatballs were enjoyable.
Ikan Bakar (grilled fish) was worth it for its price and it tasted pretty good and similar to what I get back home. It just took too long to come out :')
Also got kale curry (gulai) which although not authentic, was a pretty good dupe for daun ubi lol.
Overall I was pretty satisfied with the dishes here, albeit some minor improvements could be made.

Decent Indonesian food. Recommended!
An almost authentic Indonesian restaurant with pretty extensive menus. They have a limited hot bar dishes perfect for quick take away or dining. The fried rice was excellent, too bad the fried chicken that comes with it was a little dry. Mee rebus was delicious too.

One of the really good Indonesian food in Melbourne. If you are in the area, drop by and ask the staff any questions regarding their menu, they will be more than happy to explain it. We love this place!
Love this place. Really authentic Indonesian food served well and with a smile. Great for a quick lunch or tasty dinner. Menu is full of Indonesian classics and all of them taste great. The rendang is great, as is the nasi goreng. Well worth a visit if you’re in South Melbourne. Friendly staff and great food. Highly recommended.
This place served good variety of Indonesian food. Grilled beef ribs (iga bakar) was tender but too sweet for my liking.
Frid chicken (ayam keremes) was alright, but the size of the chicken was quite big. I would prefer if the sambal is more spicy.
South Melbourne is full of local gems and this is no exception.
The ayam bakar was delicious, nice grilled flavour, cheap and well portioned. The sambal was spicy so be careful.
Sate chicken was smothered in sauce, just the way we like it.
We also tried this fried tofu thing with veggies and it was amazing. Crispy batter on the outside and soft tasty veggies inside.
Cannot wait to go back.
Homey Indonesian food. The fare here is like you'll find in many streetside eateries across South East Asia. There is a decent selection of food to choose from, srved alongside a very generous portion of rice. The star of the dishes is the ubiquitous sambal. Spicy, fragrant, flavorful. Three viands and rice will only set you back $13. At that price point, it's great for students, backpackers, and penny pinchers. But frankly, on a budget or not, the food here is worth the money. The staff is friendly and you can't go wrong no matter what dish you choose.
Pretty authentic Indonesian food. Ayam bakar is spot on but wished they sprinkled more sauce on top of the chicken. Ayam bakar was pretty standard. Sambal is pretty spicy and goes well with the dishes. Service is quick and friendly. Over all 7/10.
