Very good spicy food! Authentic! Tasty! Yummy! Recommend their Hengyang Morning, fish rice noodle soup! Steamed pumpkin! Very healthy food! As a wine drinker, I impressed on their wine list too!
Favourite Hunan dish in town. Very traditional rice noodle in Hunan style, must try. Paradise for people who love spicy food. Just a little in salty side.
Located along the Elizabeth street , Chinese cuisine. Customer service nice , the dining atmosphere nice , the food tasty . And the price reasonable. Cheers
Great Chinese restaurant off Elizabeth. It’s a big and quiet place compared the other Chinese restaurants around. Flavours are very clean ingredients also seem fresh. Will come back for the main dishes ⭐️
Amazing hengyang morning noodles in this place! Make me feeling back to my childhood food !! And nice place , very highly recommend to come !!'
It's an authentic restaurant. The cuisine is really delicious and beautiful. The material is fresh. It's a very good restaurant for Hunan cuisine. Also, the price is cheap.
The best Chinese food I’ve ever eaten!
My brother and Mum where vegetarian and they were extremely helpful and patient with us considering the language barrier! Second time going and will continue to come back
The food was not your average Chinese it was like and clean but was so full of flavour! 5 stars (๑・̑◡・̑๑)
A very beautiful and tasty Chinese restaurant. It refreshed my general impression to Chinese restaurant in Melbourne. They doing a different cuisine called Hunan cuisine. Depends on their staff introduction, it's a province in southern China, a state where Chairman Mao come from. Food is different, however very good tasty, YUM. Love their special noodles and fish dishes, as well as the beef and lamb. Anyway, I think I will come back for other things I haven't try yet.
A nice semi casual Chinese restaurant focused on Hunan cuisine. We enjoyed the main dishes, especially the fish which was soft and lightly seasoned. The soup didn’t seem very fresh at all. The service could be quicker but staff were friendly. Overall worth a try if in the area.
Had an amazing feast at this spot last Friday! Very authentic Hunan dishes PLUS a wide selection of alcohol!! Lychee cider, beer and wine, you name it.
Love the Dong Ting Lamb Chop (that crisp skin’s chef kiss!), Pork Belly w/ preserved veggie and the JUMBO size siu mai. Generous serving and delish (dishes can go really spicy upon requests!).
Their taste is authentic! So good, would definitely come back here again next time. We all agree that the braised pork trotter with stinky tofu tofu alone deserves 5 stars for its flavour and price.Steamed Silver Carp in Chilli Sauce l favorite too.Highly recommended!
Been to this place heaps of times and they never let me down. Authentic food from Hunan province and attentive service make me feel like home. Some dishes are spicy and hot so watch out (!) but they do have non-spicy ones and those are great too. They provide delivery service during this lockdown period too - great set menu at fair price!
Good and delicious Chinese food, xiang style cuisine, in the heart of Melbourne. Kindly staff keep looking after everyone customer with respect. I liked the Spicy chicken and pork ribs, it was really good. Overall, the place is good to be visit and enjoy the environment.
I had only one dish here, the dried noodle with spicy beef which was very tasty with a great texture. Also the staff were very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be coming back with a crowd to try more dishes.
I caught my PB Snapper from Port Phillip Bay at 6.4kg. What better way to eat it than have it prepared by a professional chef, Hunan style at Dong Ting!?
We spoke to the owner who said they would happily cook it for us.
When we arrived I handed over the fish and we sat drinking cold beers while magic happened in the kitchen.
It was a big fish so the chef prepared it three ways:
1. Hong Shao fish
2. Steamed with chili sauce
3. Tofu fish hot pot
All were absolutely delicious!
Also, I highly recommend the chili beef jerky (not sure the proper name for that dish) and the lobster tail was beautifully prepared.
The staff and the venue vibe were great and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening!
If you’re looking for authentic contemporary Hunan style Chinese food, I definitely recommend.
