Great little Japanese restaurant that is always busy with hospital staff - a great sign of quick, delicious and healthy food. The teriyaki Don was delicious and served quickly. The prices are very reasonable - see pics. Definitely worth a visit.

Best lunch place for people who work and live nearby. Mainly rice based Japanese restaurant. Very busy especially during lunch time. You can add extra meat or tofu (I’ve added two here). Miso soup here is nice also.

Cheap curry don and delicious coffee, what more could you ask for?! Matcha white choc cookies?? We’ll they have that too

If you like Donburi and a great coffee then get down here now! The staff are friendly, polite and super efficient. Always ready with a great smile and yummy food! The only thing missing from the menu is a pork option but don’t worry they have all the rest covered. The beef ribs are particularly good. 😋 The decor is very simple but is surprisingly comfortable and a great place to sit. It can be surprisingly busy.

Just found this place and I think it'll become a regular. Was impressed by the amazing flat white in the morning, then blown away be the delicious and beautiful donburi for lunch. Love it when the food comes out looking even better than the pictures!

I love Jaspresso!! Drop by if you’re around. This is a coffee shop x Japanese food cafe with affordable prices and high quality food. Coffee is great and matcha latte is awesome. The people are always very friendly, the vibe of the cafe is calming and awesome.

Very warm, hearty and filling Japanese food! Nothing wow but in saying that, it delivered the high standard of Japanese food the Melbourne can deliver. Affordable as well, and fast service. Will definitely come again.

Great food, I really love the chicken curry don. Well balanced flavours and appropriately sized portions. I’ll definitely be going there many more times

Located on the ground floor of an apartment building on Flemington Road.
Spacious, airy, brightly lit.
Order and pay at the counter, grab a number and grab a seat.
There are a few options to choose from - curry, teriyaki, braised, tartar. Proteins include chicken, beef, lamb, tofu.
We had the chicken curry don, teriyaki chicken don, ice matcha latte and matcha milkshake.
Food was good and reasonably priced.
I liked the teriyaki chicken, the sauce:chicken:rice ratio was just nice, and the sauce had just the right balance of flavours in it too!
The matcha milkshake had a bit of a powdery taste, I would have liked more greentea ice cream in it :)

OMG what can I say, love this place . At first when they opened I was a little hesitant to try, not another Asian food place on Flemington road. I was more than pleasantly surprised. Using a modern Asian concept common in Malaysia and Singapore hawker & take away food is to only have a very small menu and do it well . This is exactly what these guys have done . 4 protein options , 3 options for each protein , linked cross The menu by the sauce/ cooking style , ie: curry, sesame, teriyaki, mayonnaise. The proteins are chicken , tofu, prawn and lamb , all served with rice & small salad . Presentation 100%, cleanliness 100%, taste 100%. Friendliness 100%.
I eat here at least 3 times a week for lunch

The Amazing food and the staff were very friendly!!

The price is value for money - large portion of food. I had the tartar chicken don and it was amazing!

I will be back for sure!

Delightful little cafe for filling Japanese bowls for around $10, making it the perfect lunch spot. There's plenty of seating space even during the busy lunch period. The meats and fried tofu have always been delicious. The only thing I would like is a bit more sauce to help mix with the rice.

Some of the best Japanese food I've had and I can't get over how cheap the prices are. I'd happily pay more considering the quality of the meals. And the staff are super friendly.
I'd recommend the Braised Lamb or the Chicken curry don.

The light spacious interior, the friendly staff, the prompt service, fine presentation and good simple Japanese rice bowls makes it a place to return to. In fact I went there for lunch and enjoyed it so much that I returned the next day with a work colleague.

Really tasty food, nice staff and very fast service too so it is perfect for a sit in lunch break. The baked goods are also super delicious!

Fast, affordable, simple, authentic, Japanese donburi. Also the cakes and coffee are a bonus. New favourite restaurant in the area. Will be a new regular here.

I’ve only tried this place once but it’s so close to where I work, I know I’m bound to try it again!. Small lunch options to choose from but I think that’s fine. Easier to make a decision I would say! When I went, I tried the chicken katsu curry. The servings are quite generous for the price that they are. Had more than enough to eat! Great location to work and great value!

2020 delivery
Great pickup or delivery option. Curry packed separate to the rice and crispy tofu so travels well.

---

Still very happy with this cheap lunch option. Because i would rate this as 4.5, I'll round up.

For this class of simple cafe it's hitting the mark. Sauce of choice is still the curry.

--- 2017 ---
Quick cheap Jap fusion. Simple menu with a few types of sauces to go with your protein of choice, on rice. Also has sweets available, matcha flavoured items, and coffee menu.
Tofu curry don $8. Tasty, satisfied with it for a cheap lunch meal. Flavour was good, met my expectations for this type of cafe.
A decent amount of seating could fit small groups (or large group of you put some tables together). I liken this place to Don Don but with nicer decor.

Had an amazing experience at Jaspresso. The staff and owners are very friendly, wide range of drink selection and the food is to die for. Delicious Japanese style Donburi bowls, ordered the Tartar Chicken Don and Sesame Chicken Don. Love the matcha latte and hot chocolate.

Overall a great visit, lovely food and drinks. Everything was reasonably priced. Will be back to try the rest of the menu in the near future. Highly recommended this restaurant/cafe, you won't be disappointed.

This little cafe/restaurant is definitely worth going to! As someone who loves trying out new places, I thought I'd try this place out. I had the chicken curry with cheese (which was what the waitress recommended) with a cup of latte. I thought it was a weird combination at first but after trying it, I have no regrets! There's nothing better having a bowl of curry that was full of flavour (the cheese definitely gave it something a little different) with crispy chicken, and finishing it off with a great cup of coffee. You'd definitely get your money's worth coming here as the price is cheap and their portions are quite big. Will definitely come back!

They microwaved our food; we heard the microwave as we were waiting for our $11 crispy chicken don and $11 chicken teriyaki don. I really did not appreciate paying $22 for microwaved food.

When the food arrived, what was suppose to be crispy chicken was very soggy. It seems as though the food was not microwaved properly as half of the rice was cold and the other half was warm. The teriyaki chicken was dry and tasted stale. Definitely left a strange and unpleasant taste in my mouth.

You are better off going else where.

Really nice cafe tucked away in north Melbourne. Underrated and reasonable for something in this area and special enough to make it memorable. Good food and interesting drinks. Nice decor and friendly staff.

Their rice bowls here are delicious and so is their muffins. Good for takeaways and the service is always relatively fast. The staff here are also friendly. Good for groups to chill and have coffee. Overall, a nice cafe.

There's not much more to say about this than that it's a limited selection of reasonably good, cheap (for the area) Japanese lunch options. The shop is newly fitted out and within an easy walk of the hospital and university precinct - it's far better than the food court-style options at either of those places.

It's not somewhere I'd recommend for a weekend brunch, but it's hitting all the marks for work lunches; I'll be going back.

Love the Crispy Chicken and the matcha latte. Not sure why the rating is so low. Definitely a great place to grab a simple meal and nice coffee

A really good place to have your lunch and dinner, a cosy place. Fast service and good food! Come and try if you are near this area. Highly recommended.

Small and nicely decorated place with coffee and donburi (Japanese rice bowl). Everything is tasty and cheap. A must try for anyone near here
