Review Oporto - Melbourne

Kevin Chen
Authentic food and very much a guilty pleasure. The food is pretty much exactly what you'd want from an Asian canteen / casual restaurant that serves Malaysian food. The curry is somewhat mild and thin compared to other cuisines such as Indian or Japanese curries, which means that you definitely want rice to go with them. The meats were delicious and fresh, and I find that in general they are great value. I also tried the fish curry which was very generous in the portion of fish and I would say probably the best curry I've had at Mamak. Dessert cone is very interesting if you don't mind getting your hands a bit sticky.

Delightful experience in Melbourne CBD. All the dishes were hot on arrival, the downside was the wait time for some dishes - Customers who ordered after us received the same dish first. Overall, the spiciness of the chicken was up to standard, and the roti was fresh and crispy. Would recommend this spot on a cold evening for dinner!

Such a great place ! Food is absolutely delicious, and always consistent. Been here a few times now, and never been disappointed. The curries are perfect, so much flavour and spice. The roti is amazing! Being able to order from a QR-code and pay at the same time is a great new way of service. Highly recommend this place

So tasty and authentic Malaysian cuisine! Mee Goreng is my favourite. Their roti are all freshly made to order. I have recommended this restaurant to a few friends and they all love it.

The smell, it was nice, and you know it's Asian. A frozen flower manager, great food and the Roti is heaven. If your looking for a Malaysian food, this is the place.

Great restaurant for your Malaysian fix. The roti is buttery soft and crispy that goes so well with the curry dips. Highly recommend the slightly spicy curry dip as its the perfect level of spice to cut through the roti. Also ordered the classic Nasi Lemak with an extra piece of chicken. The chicken was big for its size and delicious! Had to also get the green peas to balance out the meal which tasted great with a fresh crunch. Will come again!

My husband and I are their regular customers, I like the Rotti there, they are so soft and chewy, the fish curry is a must-try dish, they have different yummy dishes with good price

Got nasi goreng ($16) and sotong sambal ($22). The nasi goreng was FAR from authentic, they must have added tomato sauce in it - I could taste the tomato flavour in every spoon. Also, they used the frozen mixed carrot, peas, corn and beans veggie packet for the nasi goreng. You are better off making your own nasi goreng/fried rice at home instead of paying a visit here. The sambal sotong was slightly better, a little salty. Overall, it was utterly disappointing. The fact that they could ruin a basic Malaysian/Indonesian dish like nasi goreng says everything about the authenticity of the food here.
Split The Bill
Enjoyed the chicken and rice bowl for a Friday treat. It was full of flavour and the right portion too.

I got the new halloumi and chicken burger & it is probably my favourite burger!
It had a lot of halloumi and chicken and was super filling. Had lots of flavour & the sauce wasn’t too overpowering like some burgers are nowadays.

Me and my partner love oporto grilled chicken. We had whole chicken extremo picante flavour. The chicken was well marinated and grilled. For side, we had coleslaw.

Love it 😍
Good Food Good Mood
Grabbed a late lunch/early dinner at Oporto in between parts 1 and 2 of the Harry Potter play. I really recommend the burger as a double stack as even then the bun to patty ratio isn’t quite right. I like the oprego sauce though
Some Bunee Loves Food
Got the double fillet Bondi burger with chilli sauce. The chicken fillets seemed to be in a few pieces rather than one whole piece, therefore dropping outta the burger often. Despite that, the burger was still pretty nice and filling.

Friendly staffs! Also the whole chicken is sooooo good. Save me a lot of time in kitchen , weekly lunch sorted ! Menu maybe standard , but the service is really good, I like them.

Busy as always as in melbourne central food court.
Quick service. Overall OK however chips were a bit salty. Food was made fresh.

Food: 3/5
Service: 4/5
Ambiance: 3/5

As opposed to all the reviews our experience of having the rice bowl from Oporto was quite positive. Bowl was very Refreshing, a Power Booster, Satiated our Hunger and was DELISH until the last bite.... Couldn't.have asked for anything better after a tough 1 hour on Tennis Court.

Value for money for sure.

Great Food and Great Service . Try the Pulled Chicken Bowl. It is so yummy.
I always eat at Melbourne central as they never disappoint.
The chips are to die for.

Sorry but really not good!
chicken was flavourless, too much sauce in the coleslaw for the pita.
The chips were not flavoured at all - bland and soggy.
Foodielicious
This the 1st time I tried oporto. I ordered 1/4 chicken box (1/4 chicken, pita bread + garlic dip, and spice rice). The chicken is yummy and so juicy, nice chilli basting. But the let down was the spicy rice - the rice was to soft and the taste was not my palate.
Flying Forward
Hate to be adding fuel to the fire, that is the slow downfall of the Oporto franchise.
I took advantage of a special offer of an Oprego burger meal.
It's supposed to be grilled chicken breast fillets, but they are crumbed and hard to discern what kind of meat or flavour it is.
The buns are soft and warm but still has that dry spongy texture, and it's way too big for the tiny chicken fillets.
The chopped iceberg just falls out everywhere, and the only flavour I get out of the whole burger is the tangy prego sauce.
The chips were very lightly seasoned and were not very crispy, some kind of flopping around sadly.

When you are in rush and want to take away dinner, try Oporto. We ordered the Portuguese Feed, which comes with 1 chicken, 3 sides and 4 breads. The portion is enough for 3 adults and 1 kid, taste wise.... it’s good and I like the sauces. Just that the chicken is a bit over cooked.
Khorry Sila
I ordered an otropo burger. The price was fine and the taste was okay, but it just not my taste. I just feel like i need more flavour in a burger since the one that i had just tasted too standard for me.

The food chain is located on ther top floor food court. Service is decent and ther staff are friendly. Ordered a small chips at Oporto. Chips come in a paper container and are cooked fresh with lightly dusted salt.

Needed a quick bite before catching a film. Ordered the double Bondi burger with added pineapple. The burger was decent but could have done with a bit more flavor. Quick and friendly service by the staff.

Haircut day today so headed around to Melbourne Central for a cut and quick bite. I used to frequent Oporto far more regularly but admit to having not visited in a number of years. Seems that over that time they have lifted their game and the Oprego meal I got was actually a pretty tasty quick dining option. The fillet burger was bigger than your typical KFC and without a double more flavoursome and the chips were chicken salted and came i a cup... how very fancy. They do some good non chips side and the sweet treats looked ok as well. I position Oporto under the likes of Nandos but clearly above the KFC, Maccas and Burger Kings (HJ) of the world... quite an honour.
Spaghetti Monster
The service was extremely friendly and the half chicken I ordered was delicious and very much on a par with Nandos. Considering the place was so busy they handled everyone’s orders smoothly and with friendly smiles. I would eat here again but outside the normal lunchtime simply to avoid the queue.

I ate here with my son, who summed up our experience with "Dad, this was better than I expected - we should come here more often". I tried the chicken rappa and really enjoyed the flavour and spices of the chicken. If the wrap was a touch thinner it would have been even better. The chips were pretty good too!
Oodreiilittlepotato
Single-fillet bondi burger. The burger is taste just alright similar to maccas burger *the size and how it looks*. like the chips tho... $10 for this kind of meal a little exxy seeing the burger.. however the chips is in decent portion.

It's obviously a matter of taste, but I find Oporto to be like a much worse version of Nando's. The sauces they use are super sweet to the point of being inedible for me. If you like sweet stuff, you may like this, but I sure don't. Their chicken quality isn't terrible but the sauce was so overwhelming and sticky sweet, with barely any spice flavour, that I barely ate anything. Do not recommend.

Chicken Out :)

I stopped at Oporto for lunch in Melb Central because I do enjoy a burger every now and again but I feel like sometimes the beef burgers are too heavy. I ordered a Double burger and found it was light and tasty, fresh crispy lettuce, nice sauce and tasty chicken. Good fries and washed it down with a Vanilla Coke. I think Oporto deserves more love than it is currently getting, people can be too harsh sometimes.
The Gastronaut
I like the pita pockets here. Haven't tried the other options, but I am thinking they will be good considering the sauce is same for all dishes. The sauce is sold seperately too.

Just the normal burger, it is exact like the supermarket chicken patty. No crispy or juicy. Bindi burger is just make the chicken patty, mayo and spicy sauce together. Nothing specially

A place I recently went on a road trip for a quick stop. It was dirty and staff weren't friendly and the only decent thing were plain fries everything else had something wrong

Service was great, food was not. We had the Oporto bondi burger. Chicken lettuce mayo. The supermarket patty type. I can't do it...
Two bites and I threw it out. It was lettuce wet with mayo, that made it slip and slide within the burger. Think eating all those gourmet burgers have changed me, we can't eat at the average food court burgers. It was awful really. We also had the corn with a lime sauce, though even that was bad, the corn wasn't fresh and was on the bittery side.

This is my first review at Zomato. I try to find meals between $10-15, which should have plenty of food for one-time meal. So, I tried this chicken rappa meal ($11.50), comes with regular chips, can of soft drink and not to mention something like a chicken wrap. Chips and can were good thanks to McCain foods and PepsiCo. The highlight of the meal, chicken wrap had no taste, it comes with mayo and optional one more sauce but i tasted mayo only in the last bite. The wrap is quite small and has nothing except lettuce and a chicken wing, which is not so tummy-full compared to their spicy chicken embrulho meal. Thier chicken embrulho meal is quite good though and just for $10.

Firstly the pictures on the menu mean nothing to what you will receive. My wife and I ordered two boxes of chicken related stuff and when you open the box the first thing is to look back at the pictures and double check you have got what you ordered. Flavours are tame. Mine was the two piece chicken, two sides, bread and garlic sauce. Don't touch the sauce. It will make you immune from any vampire attack but good luck getting a date after that (for possibly the next 10 years)- disgusting. Chicken big and juicy, lemon flavour weak and probably from a jar. Chips fine. Bread excellent but my salad was thrown into the box and made it very hard to find and eat. That 's just f%ckin' slack. So for $15 it's got the quantity box ticked fair and square - but that's it. Couldn't take a photo as the eatery area is really dark. Wonder what that tells you.

Found a little gem in the Melbourne Central food court ..nice,yummy burgers with their hot sauce (not too hot!!) but definitely yummy!!! And this one is halal ...took the box of Bondi burger and loved everything except rice..not really need it!!!

Staff are friendly and attentive. Great menu choice with so many different kinds of chicken burgers. It's also a plus they have a vegetarian burger. Good for people who can't eat meat. Their chickens are also apparently cage free and no added hormones.

Fresh, quality food.. I've only started going to this place recently. It is a tad more expensive than McDonalds a few stores down, but definitely worth it. The burgers here are great, with nicely cooked chicken, and good sauces. I find that the lettuce and tomato's are always fresh here. The staff are always smiling and friendly to you.

If you attend RMIT University they give you a free upsize, which I think saves you around 60 cents. This is my go to place when I am in the city and want fast food.
