Review 1090 Burger - Melbourne

Onnida Thammapratheep
Burgers 🍔 perfect size, not too big or small. I feel like having brioche bun because it was so soft. For those who like crunchy bun, it might not be your cup of tea. Beef patty was tasty, chips are great and seasoned well. We tried fried chicken stripes off kids menu too and it was yummy. Very reasonable price and staffs are friendly. Recommend if you're around the area and I would definitely come back again.

First visit to 1090 Burger in Richmond and glad I went, had the Baconator with fries, very tasty, easy to eat, smashed Patties were full of flavour with some crispy crunch, crispy maple bacon, well melted cheese and relish / red onion, quick friendly service, well worth a visit, will be back to try some !
Sandy
The staffs are friendly. The burger is flavorful and fantastic. I ordered one to share with my husband and after finished, I ordered the second one immediately. It was so beautiful and tasty. We love the burgers so so much. And milkshake here is great as well, we order the chocolate peanut butter one. We have an enjoyable lunch here. We'll be back again for sure ;) Highly recommended <3

I go here regularly for lunch. It can't be good for my health but damn these are consistently good. Great for a bite if you're feeling like a burger. If you can't decide, have the bacon single.
Natasha Swinburne
Best burgers ever! Our favorite burger joint. Friendly staff and absolute value for money. Would recommend and eating inside.
Tony Appleby
Burgers were really great. Fries were pretty good. Service was quite slow being that it was so quiet. Ambiance was pretty ordinary. But the burgers are awesome.
Denis Guillot-Reid
Absolutely phenomenal burgers. Highly recommended. Can take some time to get the order but we'll and truely worth the wait
Kyle
Excellent burger - I had the bacon double. Also tried the Thunderburger which was great if you like chili mayo and bacon. Delicious. Fast service and very friendly.
Katie Rae
legit almost ugly cried I was that happy to eat the double 1090 burger and thunder fries Only burger I will always finish, and a double at that!! that spicy mayo best in melbourne, BY FAR!
Matts Burgers
It wasnt the best burger going around but worth a try. Went with the bacon8ter thinking it would be loaded with flavour. In the end just a burger. Will try other venues along Swan St and see how it compares

The best burger in Melbourne. Owners are kind hearted people and staff are so friendly. Thanks 1090 burger. Look forward to having your shop opening in the West ;).

I've ate some of the best known Burgers in New York and L.A and I rate this burger up with the best of them, keep up the great work boys
Alana Rees
Very tasty burgers. You can taste all the ingredients and they are just made to perfection. Definitely the best burgers around!

Its just too good. New fav burger joint. Bechamel fries are a must.
Alycia Marie
The best burger place! Their cheeseburger is my all time favourite. Friendly guys, great customer service and delicious burgers. Coupled with the cheap burger prices, you can't go wrong.
Michelle Pollock
Really yum burgers freshly cooked with homemade quality patties and mayo - delish!
Daniel Gibney
Regular Triple Thunderburger with jalapeños sans pickles. My go to. Can't go wrong. Think I need to grab another one.
Jade Harward
Holy shit like your shakes fries buger everything is on point. Quick efficient amazingly good.
Alby Simpson
Top burger place.. got our burgers within 5 minutes of walking in Will be back, thanks guys!!!
Nick Soulta
hands down best burger you'll ever eat...even better than your mum's :)
Gareth Pye
Fairy floss is not bread. Every component of their burgers is a bit better than MacDonalds, but then they charge a bit more so it's equal value to McDs. Oh but at Maccas you have 100 items on the menu. Here you have 5. And they are pretty boring options at that. The best thing was their chillimayo bacon fries. Which were clearly screaming out for cheese. Any of the other options within 30m of this place are better choices.

Stick a fork in me...........Best burger in town!!
Meghan Scoglio
Best burger in Melbourne. Beatbox used to top my list but no more, these guys have got everything right.

I really don’t like to give negative reviews, generally I hope all places do really well. Having not been here for a couple of years I was disappointed, the burgers were small, flat, burger sauce had completely changed, was completely a different place to what I used to go there for. Clearly it has changed hands and they have stopped doing all the things that made this one of the best burger places in Melbourne. I really hope they find their feet and start producing burgers that live up to the name 1090

2.5/5

I got some take away from here. The burgers used to be amazing here.

On my latest visit in store I ordered two 1090 chicken burgers. Unfortunately I was given two 1090 beef burgers.

The burgers were average. They're wasn't much salad and the flavour was ok, but it definitely wasn't what I wanted.

I also ordered a vegetarian burger which was so bad, it was basically inedible. The patty was potato, but it was dense, heavy, and to be honest, tasteless.

The onion rings that I had were completely undercooked and they didn't appear cooked at all. They were some of the worst I've ever had!

And to add insult to injury, they were no bigger than a 50c piece and there was only about half a dozen!!

Such a disappointing experience.

Cant go wrong with a beef burger here, smash patties are so good!! Bacon8tor with bacon & cheese fries and a choc PB shake was an awesome combo.
Michael.dungey
Potentially best chicken burger I’ve ever had!
Renee Bussell
Definitely up there with one of the best burgers in Melbourne. Loved it, if I had to fault- it I would say cheese sauce on the fries instead of actual cheese. Otherwise still a 10/10 from me.
GlennM
Very nice burger. Cruisy tunes and a fresh well cooked burger with quality meat, very nice bun, gooey cheese, and free condiments. Great fries all served quickly with a smile. What more could you want?
Birdman
4.5 pushing a 5 I thought. Excellent burger. The bun was soft and perfect, 2 thin patties with nice amount of bacon, double cheese and a special sauce which combines it all together for an excellent flavour. Not too greasy and holds itself together very nicely.

Came here for international burger day and I’m mad I haven’t eaten here sooner. I had the Thunder burger which was one of the best bacon cheeseburgers I’ve ever had in Melbourne. Only complaint was it was a bit too salty so if you’re worried about that kind of thing I’d probably try something with some salad in it to counter that
Clayhax
The chicken burger is my favourite from here but tbh everything is good. Chips are delicious. Like most burger places it's seems to be over priced a bit. They have a liquor license which is good but from what I can tell no washroom for customers
Denny Patron
Been here a few times, not for a long time and it’s still pretty good, nice fresh burgers, nice and juicy but not to greasy. Tasty patty, good cheese and sauces.
Bodybuilder Eats
Nice little burger joint. A must try if you’re passing through swan st. Both the chicken and beef burgers were good. Awesome value for money.
DineByNine
Burger wasnt bad. Chips were shoestring.
Presented nicely.
Only issues:
1. If a burger is called 1090, please ask the customer if they want a Beef, Chicken or Vegetarian version of it.
2. Better communication would be great, aor maybe a bit of "how was it?" Or a thank you when we leave.
3. Its Richmond, why is there a lack of multiculturalism behind the counter.
Hello. Imnikki
4.5

1090 Burger came highly recommended by Timinmelbourne and I cannot agree more with his glowing review! Delicious burgers that left us incredibly satisfied but not heavy nor oily to the point of weighing us down.

The Outback was a quintessential Aussie burger, with bacon, pineapple, beetroot and egg thrown into the mix. The pineapple provided a zesty tang, and the sweetness from the beetroot helped cut through the meatiness of this burger. The bun was soft, fluffy and held together well. I would have liked the patty to be a bit more red but really, that was just a trivial issue when all was taken into consideration.

The 1090Chicken was just as good as the Outback. The fried chicken fillet was tender and juicy, and covered in crunchy golden batter. So simple but so delicious.

The shoestring fries were reminiscence of Macca's fries, and I mean this in a good way. Delicate, crispy, and hot as, both figuratively and literally speaking.

Love that they have a bottle of hand sanitizer on each table so that you can make sure your hands are clean before and after eating. There's only that much licking of fingers that you can do after devouring such a juicy burger.
Kotix
Came here after a positive recommendation from a friend. I was extremely impressed with the burger here. Great patty and and bun, well seasoned. Strongly approve. I think this is Richmonds best burger.
Lisa Giles
We finally got around to trying the burgers here, after hearing such good things. I ordered the bacon single and my bf had the bacon8tor. Both were delicious! If anything the meat patty may have been slightly overcooked for my liking, but the sauce more than made up for it. My burger wasn’t too heavy, and the lettuce/tomato gave it some freshness. The combo of the bacon mayo and chilli jam on the bacon8tor was incredible, but beware this burger is very rich! We got the thunder fries to share, the shoestring fries were nice and salty and the chilli mayo was a welcome addition. All in all, a burger joint id return to.

If you're ever in need of a filthy dirty burger, go visit 1090 Burger in Richmond!

The burgers they do here are actually reasonably cheap and delicious! With each visit, I always leave here feeling happy and satisfied with whatever I order! The staff are really friendly and they're always there to help. Probably the only place that has sanitizers on the tables for cleaning your hands after eating greasy burgers!

Give them a visit! They do some pretty dope burgers!
Brillat_Savarin
The burgers here decent, and very reminiscent of what Huxtaburger used to be back before they sold out. At 1090 the burgers here are your sweet bun phat patty plastic cheese type served with Maccas shoe string fries that are probably best suited to after a night drinking in Richmond. Nothing wrong here but yeah...
Phil Gough
This place lived up to its reviews, dropped in before visiting the G recently and was not disappointed! The fries are excellent and can recommend the 1090 double, just make sure you are hungry!
Rin
Stopped by to have a salted caramel shake and battered onion rings before dinner. Both tasted great! I’ll be back to try the Southern Fried Chicken burger. Looks absolutely delicious.
Spicynoise
Yum yum yum! I had the 1090 burger and onion rings. The burger was juicy, had enough sauce but wasn't insanely messy, the ingredients were fresh AND the bun was actually slightly crunchy, which was really nice. And the onion rings were fantastic and came with a dipping sauce (which I didn't know they would come with). They were also really friendly. Highly recommended!

Decided to go here instead of the spud bar cause who can say no to burgers went ahead and got these bacon8tor and am I glad I didn't get the extra chicken patty cause it was huge absoulte qualitt friendly staff and great beer options as well go check them out if your in Richmond

Ride up on the Swan St Tram, jump off at stop
Number 11 and pull up at burger 1090. I ordered the thunder burger with thunder fries on the side (of course). Crunchy flavourful shoestring fries sprinkled with bacon bits and gherkin and melty cheese. More of the same with the burger, bacon, cheese, gherkin and double pattie in an excellent brioche style bun. Simple huh? Best burger on this street of many burgers. 1090 gets you 💯

If your looking to have early dinner, this place is convenient. I work near Richmond and stopping by here on a Friday evening is easy peasy. The shop picks up it business only after 7 or 8pm. It’s mostly take away orders since most people live around there. It’s a cute place, not too extravagant nor too small. I ordered the thunder burger and thunder fries.. supposed to be fiery but wasn’t.. fries weren’t up to my expectation.. since I love my fries, it’s gotta be amazing..
It’s worth a visit.. they have milkshakes as well for people with sweet tooth..
clean & cozy place!!!!

After an impromptu trip to the city, getting caught with soccer traffic, we pulled aside in Swan St and found ourselves here. Lucky chance, as the staff were friendly, the venue (whilst smallish) was reasonably clean and (more importantly) the food was quite nice. The chips were a little small for the price, but the burgers were decently sized and not overly sweet. 1090 chicken for me was a massive breast, coated and fried. Absolutely huge!
Zest_of_life
Great burgers at great prices 👍 staff are friendly and the place is clean and light filled. No complaints here. Great spot for a casual lunch.
Danielle Nguyen
Can confidently say that it's one of the best burgers I have had. The bun was super soft and the flavours were just right. The meat is juicy and hot which melted the cheese 👌
Constantlyeating
Absolutely love this place!
Although the decor isn’t that crash hot, and there isn’t too much seating in the restaurant, staff are super friendly and burgers are great!
Wait times aren’t too long, and the brioche bread they use will make you want to go for round 2 in an instance. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area!

A friend and I popped in after we saw that Belle's Chicken was full (Wednesday trivia night). I'd been meaning to try 1090 for a while, and I wasn't disappointed. I got the fried chicken burger and it was really well-priced, generous and delicious! My friend got the cheeseburger and he said that it was pretty good too. The shoestring fries were also great. Nice to see a more down-to-earth burger joint in Richmond, particularly given that Swan St is now essentially saturated with burger options. Service was also great, even if the place itself is rather no-frills.

1090 Burger! The 2nd best burger place that you can find in Richmond right under Three One 2 One. 1090 brings that shock factor when you bite into the burger and is one of the best burgers you can find in the state of Victoria.

8/10 The Bacon8tor
A great burger that really shocked me with my first initial bite. This is a must have for any burger connoisseur.
Naz Ardalani
The burger and chips were soooo delicious and light and the same time, high quality angus beef
Wouldn't recommend the onion rings though!
Will Definitely go there again👍👌

Firstly remember to take cash with you as these guys are a cash only store. Once you have that sorted be prepared to enjoy the best burgers in Melbourne! Consistently good been here so many times and never been let down. The chicken burger is the greatest so so good, pair it with onion rings and you will be instantly addicted! The beef burgers are delicious too, ingredients are always fresh as are the buns. Staff are really friendly and you can eat in or take away. Store is always very clean and it is a great place all around.

Nice little joint! Friendly staff who can remember regulars and know our preferences. I go here almost weekly once for their awesome beef burger and shoestring fries. Satisfying meal for every afternoon and above all most affordable.
Thumbs up to staff for making burger juicy.
Find The Next Meal
Awesome burgers, always great to see a huge piece of fried chicken on my fried chicken burger. The thunder burger is also juicy as - been here several times already and felt like I should give it a thumbs up!

I finally got around to visiting 1090 and I can't say a bad word! My partner who is an absolute know-it-all when it comes to burgers in Melbourne took me here and despite it being a busy Saturday night, the staff were extremely friendly - providing great customer service and were fast with getting food out to customers. I had the cheeseburger and it was fantastic. It was simple, but very delicious and cooked just as I had requested. There's no doubt I will be back to try more off the menu!
Costa
Alright, Im going to say it. BEST BURGERS IN MELBOURNE! The 1090 burger I had yesterday is a some beef burger with Mayo lettuce and tomato between a soft bun. The meat is delicious and juicy, no dry beef here! Highly recommended!
Iwan W
Just before an ANZAC AFL game thought it would be good to feed off fatty burgers… heard about 1090 burgers as it was close by. We arrived at burger place and it wasn’t packed, which was good! (As all other places were packed in the area due to the game). Cash only FYI. Easy and simple menu, if you’re indecisive when choosing food it’s your lucky day! Ordered the Thunder burger – double patty with bacon and chilli mayo and salted caramel milkshake.
Danny Nguyen
Love the thunderbuger here and their salted caramel milkshake. I honestly believe they have the best burgers in Melbourne. Highly recommend for all burger lovers.

1090 Burger is another burger eatery that I've been interested in for awhile now. I have heard many good things from other people, and discovered 1090 from quappzburgers. The photos he posted looked amazing at the time, so I really wanted to try it out. A year or two later and here I am. So what makes 1090 stand out? Well. Their bun is similar to Royal Stacks in a way, which is good. But what really stood out was the sauce, there was a lot of sauce. Mainly tomato and mayo. It gave everything else in the burger a lot of life as there was a lot of moisture. And generally the whole thing was very wholesome, fresh and full of flavour. It's one of those burgers that make you appreciate life and I will say it definitely is one of my favourites. Is it the best out of the best, however? That is a difficult question. And one that I'll have to go back to at some point later on. If there is one problem, it's that due to the amount of moisture, the bun seems to struggle to keep together near the last bites. The lettuce is also shredded, which falls out easily. Other than that, it was quite simply amazing. And one definitely worth trying.
Luke And Hannah
Cheap burgers but lacking identity.

We were here on a Thursday evening after 6:30 and there were plenty of tables available.

Luke got himself the original 1090 beef burger while Hannah order the Thunderburger - double beef patty with bacon (though she couldn't finish it).

Both the burgers were okay (3/5 points), they definitely did not taste bad but on the other hand they were very basic and boring. Bacon tasted like bacon, beef patty tasted like how they should be and those buns were just plain sad. The menu was quite limited as well with just a few variations of beef/buns/lettuce.

The chips told a similar story, (3/5) they definitely tasted like Macca's or Hungry Jacks' - bland and underwhelming- though definitely not oily.

We also got ourselves the salted caramel milkshake which tasted slightly too sweet (3/5).

Overall, it is a good place for cheap and efficient burgers but definitely not the best burger place out there.
Filet De Boeuf
Very, very solid burger at a competitive price. Make sure you go crazy with the burgers, the menu is pretty conservative compared to some burger joints, but add in as many patties and as much fried chicken as you can handle, you won't regret it. A side note - the fried chicken is delicious and moist, not dry like fried chicken patties from many other burger joints.
Gastroman
Hands down best burgers on Swan street! Love this joint, may it be for the ultra classical American style cheese burger to the perfect fried chicken there is not much to fault here(-:
Highly recommended!!
Dale Zeinheiger Culpin
Amazing burgers. These guys started out in a food truck a few years back and I've loved their burgers ever since. Never had a bad experience and their fried chicken is huge and too big for the burger but I actually like it that way.
HungryBear
Epic burgers! The fries are way too salty though.
Real_forking_diet
So I went on a foodie trip to Richmond again but this time trying out 1090 burger, I saw salted caramel bacon mayo and got a serious bump up on my list 😁 Being a recovering Mayonnaise addict 😂 I had to try it…. Double beef: a bit too cooked for my liking but still very moist and enjoyable.
JZY
非常普通,包偏软,薯条也很普通,住在附近可以偶尔吃吃,完全没必要专门去吃。
super normal
Nova
Good burgers, though admittedly the mayo tends to make some of the higher stacked burgers slip when bitten into.

Fries were quite nice, felt like they were salt and vinegar'd ever so slightly to get the right aroma but not enough to get the taste which was interesting, while the regular seasoning mix was the predominate flavor of the fries.

The fries themselves though were McDonalds-esque, not leaning towards "stylized" fries like Schnitz.

On that note I must say the fries do seem a little over the edge with price, stand alone fries themselves were fine but if you wanted the other toppings it increased the price almost two fold.
Eggcelent Eatventures
If you enjoy eating frozen meat patties... then this is the place to be! Possibly one of the worst burgers I have had in Melbourne. Couldn't chew gum fast enough after a bite of that burger to get the taste out of my mouth!
Foodie AC
Superb burger joint. Fresh juicy burger full of flavour with chips as thin as you can get- perfection. Burger places everywhere in Melbourne these days. This is one of the best around. Leaves 8 bit for dead.
St4n4zol
I've been here a couple of times and the burgers are the business! The burgers are soft, meaty, cheesy and all the ingredients are as fresh as can be. Highly recommended!
Lily
The burger was decent but didn't get much of a salted caramel flavour in the salted caramel mayo. Milkshakes are delicious, if you like peanut butter and salted caramel. Best southern fried chicken I've tasted in Melbourne so far, better batter than kfc.
Convivialsins
The 1090 double... good burger but nothing outstanding. It's the type you'd go back for if it was from your local chippie. It would be a fantastic burger if it had a standout something! anything!! It had 2 beef patties on coleslaw onion, cheese and tomato on an ordinary bun. Simply the 1090 double was ur plain Jane thank u ma'am burger. forgettable. No special suace. Patty was ordinary but done well. That's it reeaally.
CafeEnergy
These are the best burgers in Melbourne. There are other good burgers in Melbourne, but 1090 is the best. Consistently delicious, I followed them south when I heard they were opening a venue.

The cheeseburger is sublime and has the perfect meat:bun:sauce:cheese ratio. Sauces are simple ketchup and mayo, and they work brilliantly. The mayo helping to bind everything in your mouth, the ketchup providing acidity to cut the richness, along with the pickles. The cheese is also perfect, the burgers are always served with immediacy and this ensures that they are piping hot with cheese that is already starting to run down the side of the burger.
A simple burger, executed flawlessly.

Many people seem to be against brioche on burgers but I find that the soft, pillowy bread really allows you to experience the texture of the meat and the sweetness complements the savoury aspects of the meat.

If you want something more substantial, then the thunderburger doubles the meat and cheese, along with bacon, chilli mayo and ketchup. This burger has a little more going on than the cheeseburger, with the chilli and bacon, but don't let that detract from the cheeseburger, as it is stellar in its own right.

Fries are a great side and it's refreshing to see a venue steering clear of the 'thick cut' crowd. They are also always excellently seasoned.

Do it.
Natasha Bird
This burger was very ordinary. They probably couldn't make it any better with the ingredients they use. Sweet bun, sweet sauces- it seemed like Maccas.
Kris A
Best Burger in Melbourne. Even better than the Truck. Never, ever disappointed Well done guys, keep it up...Cant wait for my next visit
Boxitrepeat
Love their 1090 beef and chicken burger! Preferred the beef much more to the chicken, tho it was delicious as well. Had the thunder fries, which was great, but maybe they can try using thicker fries instead of these shoestring ones, so the chilli mayo + bacon doesnt overpower the potato taste.
DamoForce Food
Good little store in Richmond pumping out a solid feed and saucy af burgers! Some of the best fried chicken in a burger going around and reasonably priced for the area.
Timbo
Here is the menu we have followed:

Chicken Burger
1090 Single and Double
Chips with bacon bits and mayo and cheese

Now here is the verdict:

1. Chicken - lovely fillet and fried beautifully, but the burger was lacking taste or any zing!!
2. 1090 - nice on the single patty but the double patty was lots of meat, but with no real taste. Needs some imagination for those who like herbs etc to add to the mix
3. Chips ok - they try really well

Overall, service fantastic and the effort to detail is there however with the menu size, the burgers don't live up to the hype. If there was a fusion mix of spice and steady, this could be a winner!!

Two times but maybe not a third, unless there is some alternative approach!!
Clamburger
Solid burger, had to baconated, partner got the 1090 with added bacon.
Also shared some chips and a salted caramel choc peanut butter shake. Surprised how the shake tasted, wasn't expecting them to go well together but it really hit the spot.

Baconated burger was tops, the special mayo in it gave it a great taste, no real grease dripping from the nice juicy Patty's.
Don Djoe
Relatively small burger, simple toppings, normal chips that arent really spectacular, and quite quiet place for a burger place. Despite all that, I love that I decided to come here for dinner. The burger taste was great and bold thanks to the mustard and the patty seasonings (not sure whats in it). The bun was soft and crispy at the same time and I liked that they at least tried to decorate the dish, at least look at that dipping sauce that came with it. This place accepted cash only though, quite surprising for a burger place.
Joshua Ellen Lose
Really good burgers, fries were great and the milkshakes were spot on! Cool staff as well always a bonus.
This line is to fill the character limit :/
Issac_eatsalot
Best burger in melbourne! Humble staff who just work hard and make magic happen between buns. Top 3 fried chicken I've ever eatwn. Always always always make sure I get a burg when I visit town!
TheyCallHimX
Always happy when I get to visit the guys over at 1090. Cause I know I will walk away happy every time.

Love it when they have those Krispy Kreme x 1090 burger specials!
Keedan Rigney
Surprise, surprise. more great burgers in melbourne. where the hell do i go. If you go here definitely add a fried chicken patty. I dropped mine and ate it off the floor #caring
BellaLovesPasta
First time 1090'er here. I got the Veg burger. It had a veggie patty that was pretty much potato. Plus mushrooms, cheese, lettuce, mayo and tomato sauce (minus the pickles and tomato).

The first thing I did notice was that the burger had a lot of sauce, it came out of the burger in the first bite. Kind of just scooped it up with the fries we got to share (however that does come with tomato sauce and mayo as well)

My partner got the 1090 burger and he enjoyed it as usual. Saying they do a good meat patty.

The staff were friendly, when we arrived and left as well. Overall, pretty good. Would go back again.
Gavin James
Great tasting burgers at a very reasonable price. Onion rings were tasty. Ambience is more like a take away fish n chip shop, but at such a reasonable price I couldn't complain! Service was good, quick and receptive. Will be back!
Stacey.anne
Not sure how this place could have any negative reviews it is a 10/10 nothing to fault. I haven't heard people talk about this place like all the popular burger joints so I wasn't expecting to be too impressed but this is as good as any burger I've had. Service was spot on.
Tharik
For a burger joint with a small menu, I would expect them to nail everything on their menu. But sadly, I walked away disappointed. Well, not a total disappointment. I had the vinta burger which was supposed to be a beef patty, mushroom, Mayo and the usual works.
The beef was seasoned amazingly well. That was the best part about my lunch.
But when you take a bite of the whole burger, there is just an over powered taste of Mayo and the beef. The taste of the bun, lettuce, mushroom, etc are pretty redundant.
I also tried out the salted caramel shake, because burgers have to be accompanied by shakes.
But the shake was too sweet. It was an overdose of sugar and kind of kills any taste in your mouth.
My first experience of a burger in Melbourne has been a pretty bad one.
Here's to hoping my next one isn't.
The World Loves Melbourne
1090 Burger is a standout burger joint on Swan street Richmond having started out in life as a food truck (still going strong in Ruckers Hill Northcote); boasting quality affordable burgers and is the home of the notorius Rocky burger. 1090 Burger is unpretentious in a world of burger hype. No fanfare here; no heralding or trumpeting. The proof is in the pudding, or should we say "patty"; all massive 330g of it.

I had an enjoyable experience here (at the permanent shop in Richmond), but I was a little surprised to find the place had made the Burger Adventure's top 10. The burgers were delicious but very small - at $8.50, however, there's not much to complain about. The chips are standard fries; it would be nice to mix them up a bit and have a thicker, more imaginative style. The decor was super simple with the burger being made right in front of us. There was a reasonably strong greasy smell, though the extraction fans seemed to be working at full tilt. A pleasant experience, but not one I'd be rushing back for.

--------------
Updated review 27/05/2017
--------------
I love 1090! The staff are so lovely and the burgers are consistently great! I had the bacon8tor - the salted caramel bacon mayo is delish 👌👌👌

-----------------
Old review
-----------------
I visited the 1090 Burger truck at Welcome To Thornbury and had the Thunderburger - absolutely delicious. Just the right amount of spice in that chilli sauce - YUM.
Latin Headquarters
Arguably the best burgers in town!! These guys have a small but tight menu and it's always done to perfection, presentation, taste, and service. It is a hidden burger joint that can compete with anyone in Melbourne. Staff are awesome down to earth happy to talk to you type of people, burgers are amazing from their food truck to their burger place. Maybe the only thing missing is a cold one.

Not needed as the product they serve you is that good.
JupitusMercury
I enjoyed 1090 - it didn't amaze me (hence the 3/5 rating) but there was certainly nothing wrong with it! The burgers were nice, the service was brisk but efficient, the decor was plain but that's not a dealbreaker as far as I'm concerned. The prices were impressive, especially for the quality of burger. I've had better onion rings elsewhere but again, it's not like 1090's were terrible - there's just a lot of competition around! I would recommend, especially if you're looking for a great-quality burger at a cheaper price-point.
Paul B
I guess it was ok I got the chicken burger and that really good tender and crisp no complaints would recommend also it's really oily keep that in mind for me this was not a problem. My friends for the beef burger and the patties were really dry and tasted like charcoal wasn't pleasant at all maybe it was because we came in before they closed but still wouldn't explain the lack of taste. Look over all I would say get the chicken.

The 1090 chicken is AMAZING.. best comfort food.. always perfectly cooked, juicy chicken with a crispy flavoursome coating. Can't go past thunder fries either.. that mayo sauce stuff is wicked.
Thanks for the goodness

Meant to review this ages ago but didn't get round to it. Good burgers if you prefer them more towards the greasy side, can tell they have come from a food truck background due to the takeaway vibe at the store. Closed on Sunday's when they could be the answer for everyone's hangover
Food Etc.
Came here after a few warm up beers with Daniel Taylor. I followed my rules and got the basic burger; the 1090 Burger. A solid effort; possibly the best burger within walking distance of my house. But, not spectacular. The bun was way too soft, but the rest was really good, although the 2 stack of tomato is very confusing to me… Nice patty, very creamy ingredients with a focus on the tomato sauce and mustard. Average pickles out of a jar.

It's easy to find a burger restaurant in Melbourne but 1090 is up there with the best. The burgers are a bigger than your average burger restaurant and a little cheaper as well. WIN WIN!

Put it on your food list, people. This is one of the best burgers I've had in Melbourne. These guys know how to make a whopping good burger. Brilliant double patties, perfect brioche bun, all the trimmings. Ah need one right now. Go there for the amazingness, or catch them at various markets in their food truck! Burgers on the move. What more could you want.

Not really sure how I felt about my burger.. I got the veggie one and it didn't necessarily taste bad but I was just confused by it.. I couldn't even tell what the "veggie patty" was, barely got to wrap my head around the taste of the burger as a whole before it was gone, felt like I had just consumed bread and cheese and oil and some other random flavours added in... I'm confused but wouldn't re-purchase

No joke. This place is the real deal. Burgers are the best I've ever. They have their regular menu as well as another menu for those that aren't the faint of heart. Seriously - like 5 different meats and loads of cheese. Anyway, I got the Thunderburger.. No other burger has beaten this burger and I am in love. If you haven't had 1090 Burger then you are seriously missing out! Go now!

These burgers are on point.. I knew it was going to be great when I saw the bro throwing out buns that were (slightly) over cooked. Most places would've had no hesitation in using them buns, not these homies. It's all about attention to detail when you make something as simple as a burger.
Great to see them get in a shop after paying their dues in the van up on ruckers hill.
All they now is to get a license and stock some good beers. Do that and they get 5 stars from me. Boom.
Chasing A Plate
Posted by Chasing a Plate in Richmond on 15/10/2015. The fact that 1090 Burger have set up shop within walking distance from home makes them dangerous. Very dangerous. Because these guys know their burgers. They already have a loyal following from their food truck which you’ll often find parked up on Ruckers Hill in Northcote and this permanent spot on Swan Street is only going to get busier and busier. We time our visit well- during the footy final. The streets are deserted and 1090 is empty.

If you're buying an American style hamburger you expect a curtain level of greasiness, and if you are watching your weight steer clear. If you want one of the best damn burgers you have ever tasted however I highly recommend 1090 Burger. I had the 1090 Burger, my wife had the cheeseburger, and we shared some thunderfries. I hope I'm not understating this but Best. Burger. Ever. Can't wait to return.

Originally B and I went to Northcote to get some Ten Ninety but there was no truck to be seen so off to Swan St we went.

We were really surprised when we walked in as the place was empty at 7:30pm on a Thursday night. After hearing good reviews this wasn’t going to stop us. Live a life of courage right.

The staff were really friendly the whole time and made us both feel welcome and a positive for me is there is not a huge selection which usually means they’re comfortable with what they’re making.

I ordered the 1090 Double with bacon and we shared a fries, onion rings, coke and salted caramel shake.

After only about 10-15 minutes we had the burgers presented nice and cleanly on the plate.

1090 Double – a pretty big size and I’m annoyed I went such a big burger. I can be a big eater but I’ve been trying to cut back on the amount though. Anyway, the burger was delish. Meat cooked medium, fresh lettuce, lots of mayo, mustard and ketchup, the pickles were so tasty and there was some good oil drippage going on. One of the better burgers I’ve had in Melbourne.

The fries were cooked well but pretty standard, would love to see a bigger serve. Onion rings were tasty though undercooked. Could’ve used a few more minutes in the fryer so they weren’t as ‘floury’ but they did taste alright.

The shake though. Best salted caramel shake in Melbourne. Why you ask? Because they actually put ice cream in it. It’s a proper shake, not this topping and milk rubbish you get at so many other places. This was a heavy cup of prime artery clogging shake with the right amount of salted caramel. Nice a light and not overpowering.

Overall a real good burger place, just go the single though unless you want to undo the top button on your jeans when driving home. Not that I did that …
Always Choose Pizza
This is what I ordered, this is what I consumed, it has every grease source under the sun. This is the cherry on top of grand final day. Ambulance please.

So glad 1090 now have a shop! These are hands down some of the best burgers in Melbourne. I was surprised at how quiet it was, I guess Swan Street when there is no AFL on is pretty quiet. So got a seat easily since there aren't many and did not have to wait long. The only thing that was disappointing was the new chicken burger. Much better fried chicken burgers can be found elsewhere.

Holy s**** I'm loving this place. Friendly staff, fast service, decent prices and a delicious burger. Absolutely loved it, would recommend it to my friends.
Out & About
Smashed a thunderbird. But first I added 2 extra beef patties, 4 extra bacon, jalepenos & pickles. It was cheesy, beefy, bacon goodness. Well priced. Coulda used a little more heat or some hot sauce but was super delicious.

Really good burger! Love the shake too. Doubles might go down better for guys though. Fries of fury sure packs a sizzle, recommended if you like spicy stuff. Will definitely be back.

Cosy little spot, not too obvious signage so don't miss the place. Smell of burgers will linger in your clothes long after you've left, might be a minus.

Cons: Limited seats, tables are mostly for two people. Definitely not for groups. Order system is a bit haphazard, using numbers would be far easier instead of names.

Fantastic burger. Had the 1090 double and was just the right size given my hunger. Patties tasty and fresh, didnt feel too fatty. Lots of ketchup and special sauce which I personally enjoy on a burger. The bun was soft and buttery. Was the closest thing I've had to a Shakeshack burger in melb. The fries with harbaniero sauce were definitely hot but a little rich to have with the burger.

With this only opening recently and after hearing really good reviews of the original in Northcote, I thought I would give this place a go.

Me and a friend went for the Thunderburger and the 1090 burger. With a side of the 1090 fries I think (It’s the one with all the extras on top).

Food came out and it looked really good. We started off with the burgers and they were both really good, soft bun, juicy patty, the right amount of toppings and the perfect amount of sauce. The thunder burger was definitely the tastier one, the sauce was really good.

Then we tried the chips, they use some special type of sauce. And it made the chips taste weird and made them ridiculously oily. We didn’t even finish them.

If I was rating this place on just the burgers it would definitely get a higher score, but the chips made us feel gross after.

Great burgers, little on the greasy side just the way they're meant to be. Best American style burgers that I have had in Richmond. Highly recommend

Dropped in for dinner with the wife and had a Double 1090 and Cheese Burger. Both were superb would highly recommend a visit. Both cooked to perfection, buns soft and a great sauce.
Please, please turn down the music. The burgers are fantastic. The staff are friendly, this review needs 140 characters though so go lakers.

So happy to see these guys get a shop after being such a big fan of their truck. I always recommend the thunderburger which is a meat cheese ooze fest that makes me so happy.

The new addition of the tempura onion is welcome, I am not a fan of beer batter so these are perfect. The loaded fries are unique with a sour/sweet sauce that no one else is serving up.

I will repeat what I said in my last review which is I'd sell my body for it. The guys have not dropped the ball and I cant wait to see them grow.
DontMessWithTheFoodie
Greasier than a Coburg Lebo. Much better burger joints in Melbourne. Patty is cooked nice but it's drowned in mayo and cheese sauce. My friends talked it up but I was disappointed.
Long Lunch
Had the basic cheese burger. Good fresh patty and bun. A pretty honest burger in itself, but for $8, a very good burger. 1090 will do well as an after school, after footy, after drinking burger
