Have been ordering from here for years now. Very yummy food and friendly staff. My favourites are the veggie potato curry, red curry and pepper & garlic stir fry.
Such an amazing place. I feel lucky to love close by! Their food of very tasty and authentic. Ask most locals and they works agree. We definitely almost always order their duck curry but all are very good. Worth the wait if there was ever a long wait on orders (that’s because so many people order in!)
Yaring is a local hidden gem which has AMAZING Thai and excellent customer service. Yaring is an extremely understated eatery and more people should know about it. I have visited Yaring three times in the past 12 months and I this review is of my most recent visit last week.
🔆LOCATION🔆
Yaring Thai Street Food is situated along a small stripe of shops on Mitcham Road between Whitehorse Road and Canterbury Road, not far from Mitcham train station. There is car park at the front, and side street parking around the area.
The restaurant is REALLY small and can only seat up to 12 people (at most 14 people) and they are always very busy. I have seen a lot of customers come into pick up their take away orders.
🔆SERVICE🔆
You must make a table reservation if you wish to dine at Yaring. Reservations is by phone only. They don’t have online reservations system. A lot of time it goes through to voicemail and because they’re so busy may not be able to get back to you, so try to ring when they are open so you’re call will be answered.
Each time I dine at Yaring, I am greeted ever so warmly, it feels like you’ve entered into someone’s house to have a home cooked meal. The staff acknowledges you by name (that is soo rare!) and when a dish is delivered to the table, we are advised what dish it is. Service is very efficient, and we were so surprised how quick our food came out.

🔆VERDICT🔆
The Chicken Hor Bai Toey was extremely tasty. The chicken was very tender and moist with lovely marinated flavours from the soy, garlic and sesame oil. As the chicken was cooked with the pandan leaf you can taste the light aromatic pandan flavour as you bite into the chicken. I didn’t have the nahm jim sauce, but my sister said it was really good and had a good kick of spice and chilli in it.
The portions of the main meals were very generous in size. We weren’t able to finish everything and asked for container to take home.
The Beef Pad Thai was the best I’ve ever had in Melbourne. There was soo much flavour and you can taste the wok-tossed noodles that gives it that delicious taste. The beef was tender and all the ingredients mixed well with the flat rice noodles.
Our favourite has to be the Moo Krob (crispy twice cooked belly) with Pad Pug which has garlic, onion, spring onion, red & green capsicum, broccoli, carrot, cauliflower and mushrooms. The plate was bursting with colour from the mixture array of vegetables and the pork belly was delicious.
Yaring serves amazing quality Thai food. I’m definitely regular customer. Hopefully in future they will open a bigger premise.
