Enjoyed every dish we chose for entree and main. Plan to go back!
Very nice! Definitely recommend the Nonay Beef it was supurb - we couldn't get enough. Staff friendly and attentive. Great choice for a quick, midweek dinner.
Tried Jacks Satay Bar with the family and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
From the delicious chicken Satay kebabs for starters to the sizzling beef which was tender and just spicy enough for me, all meals were met with smiles around the table.
The spicy pork was excellent and my wife’s Laska curry was full of fresh seafood that was well portioned.
Service was quick and friendly also.
Will be back again soon!
"Die Die Must Try!", a term so often used in South-East Asia when it comes to the pleasure of indulging in mouthwatering delights. Having been a household name in Melbourne for over 30 years, Jack's Satay Bar is an eatery that marries phenomenal service with mouthwatering treats emanating from neighbouring countries Singapore and Malaysia. The secret to the brand's longevity in Melbourne's hospitality scene can perhaps be attributed to its extensive array of food that is set to whet your appetite.
The signature Sizzling Beef is brought to you in a hotplate with a generous serving of assorted vegetables , succulent with every bite. Meat dishes aside, the brand also prides itself in offering the ocean's freshest catch, with their Ikan Kerisi, otherwise known as steamed perch. This is in addition to the tantalising Mango Scallops they offer, straight from the Hervey Bay in Queensland. To top it off, one cannot visit the eatery without feasting on the brand's signature Satay Skewers, served with peanut sauce - sensational in every sense of the word.
If you live right here in Melbourne, you might as well forget about flying out to Asia for fine-dining cuisine. Jack's Satay Bar brings the best of the East to your front door with their delivery service as well! This is convenience and simplicity at its finest.
Head down to 571 Mt Alexander Rd, Moonee Ponds VIC 3039, and let excellent delights excite your senses today!
Having been around for close to 20 years, Jack’s Satay Bar offers up patrons a modernised, Western take on famous Malaysian classics like their famous Satay Skewers.
With delicious cocktails and generously sized portions, coupled with incredible hospitality from owner John, it’s not hard to understand how they’ve succeeded for so long!
Our first visit to Jack’s Satay Bar was to catch up with an old friend from Perth after 10 years. The venue was perfect: very cosy and the ambiance perfect for a good “catch-up” conversation. We were welcomed at the door by Jack and then handed over to a friendly waiter. The food is very tasty and bursting with flavour. And the portions are generous! All in all it was an amazing dining experience with good friends at an amazing venue.

Will we return? YES!!!
Jack's Satay Bar has always been a hit with the locals and now we can see why!
We started off with a mixed platter of satay and some roti on the side. The satay was definitely the highlight of the night - full of flavour and super tender!
For the mains, we ordered Jack's Malaysian Curry and also the Nasi Lemak. For all those who love a Malaysian curry, you have to try this one! Don't forget to order some roti with it too!
The interior of the restaurant could do with a bit of modernisation, but the food makes up for it. Definitely a must if you're in the area!
Thanks again Jack for the invite!
There’s a reason why Jack’s Satay Bar has been open for over 28 years and that was evident when we came in for a meal last night. Attentive staff and friendly owners along with some good quality classic South East Asian dishes offer long term diners and sense of familiarity. Being so close
To Moonee Valley race course there is horse memorabilia on the wall as you enter but much of the venue is conservatively decorated.
It was a hot day so we started with some cool drinks, my dining buddy ordering white wine by the glass while I was swayed by the delicious cocktail special, the Gin Rickey. Gin, Mint, Lime and Soda they may as well said “Your favourite things” cocktail. This was delicious and seriously refreshing.
We started with curry puffs, spring rolls and pandan chicken parcels for entree. The curry puffs were the largest we have seen and came with a much needed satay sauce ... our first introduction to this home made Satay. My pandan parcels were so tender and flavoursome too ... but I still added before mentioned Satay to make it even more so.
For mains we ordered a sizzling beef plate and boy did it come out sizzling. A delicious and substantial hotplate with a tender beef (flavoured with a salty soy) and plenty of vegetables to. I originally had intended to eat this with roti but got rice on the side too.
My dining buddy wanted more Satay but being vegetarian didn’t have an option on the menu. Fortunately they were more than willing to create a vegetable Satay dish for her and it was very tasty.
Roti was exceptional and quite thick roti but still crispy and delicious and perfect for mopping up leftovers.
By the time we left the restaurant was teaming with locals who were maybe in early in the week rather than on the previous weekend, where racing meets has the place packed out to the max. It probably pays to book when Moonee Valley is open.
Thanks so much to John & Karen for inviting us in.
Jack’s Satay Bar aims to satisfy Melbourne’s unquenchable thirst for South East Asian cuisine by offering flavour-laden food in Monee Ponds.
An absolute favourite among the locals, the menu features a variety of South East Asian favourites including hawker style food as well as main dishes to share with rice.

Jacks Satay bar is definitely once of the best Malaysian restaurants we have been to. The place is nice and clean, staff was lovely as well.
We were lucky enough to have been invited to dine here. We started our meal with beef/chicken satay skewers, which were divine. My boyfriend literally licked the peanut sauce clean. Next we had the lohkiang, which was fried mince pork and prawn wrapped in crispy bean curd skin. We also had the jacks oyster, which were fresh oyster in 3 different toppings. It was an interesting take on raw oyster, very yummy.
For main we had the chicken curry with roti and ducksi goreng. They were both delicious as well. Top notch Malaysian food!
