Leaf and bean resides in the centre of Mornington township, and is both a cafe and wine bar. Upon entering, I found the ambience layback and calming, with MOR /jazz standards tracks playing gently in the background. The decor is somewhat retro and eclectic, with funky printed image table tops, upholstered black wooden chairs and stools, mottled grey painted walls with dark timber features, and a huge exposed beam part way along the dining space. The counter is backed by a lime green feature wall. The menu is varied, with pizzas, focaccia, quesadillas, quiches wraps, and a range of breakfast items. I ordered a vegetarian focaccia and coffee, and both were good. I found the service friendly and chatty, fairly casual, and efficient, and it was a pleasant venue to enjoy my lunch.
just a lovely quirky place to sit and relax - it won't suit everybody but I like it. Staff are super friendly and helpful, the place is an odd shape but the comfy sofas at the back are great around the fireplace.m just like being at home. Free wifi is great too. I'll be back to eat real soon.
What a fantastic place this is. Had the best coffee I've had in a loooooong time. Has to be the best in Mornington by a mile. Food is great too, large serves and really inexpensively priced. I had the housemate Stew which was delicious and yummy, comfy sofas and some cool tunes on the hifi and free wifi - I'm moving in!
Curious decor, I guess they like green! Coffee bland, milkshakes were a hit with the little people. The chocolate mix on the counter clearly makes a difference! Hit and miss with the sweets, most were too sweet but that is probably more my palate. Nice to see gf options. Lots of space and probably really cosy with the fire going in winter. Not my type of place but certain to be a hit with many.
Very friendly staff! And a .... Very friendly staff! And a
Nice imported beer. Nice to chill on the side walk and judge the locals
Good coffee, good food, keep up the good work.
All this negativity from these beach bums should go get a job first before posting here, you live in beach bush, get some education first, you won't survive in the big world.
Good food, good coffee, open late.
Great place.
As it's name suggests, Leaf and Bean doesn't lack a thing.. Mornington has a very strong cafe culture, it's the kind of town that can support so many little local coffe shops (and a Gloria Jeans) all along the one street and last Summer I spent my free time trying them all out, putting them to the test. Today there is only one that I venture to come rain, hail or shine ( and in Melbourne it's mostly the former) and that is Leaf and Bean (barring Mondays of course when I'm forced to venture elsewhere or die of thirst, but no more, the store staying open seven days from now on).
This will mark the fixing of the one flaw that I have found in the place, for otherwise it has everything that I could want: great tasting, prompt and well prepared coffee that the owner will more than happily chat to you about in depth if prompted, happy smiling service with a 'hello' and 'goodbye' every time and plenty of space to relax, read, chat or soak the atmosphere in from. It's the complete cafe experience consistently whereas the competition can only offer two out of three at best.
Leaf & Bean isn't just a place that brings me back again and again on different days, it's one that gets me going up to the counter to order another ( thankfully then it's also affordable) so that I can sit a little longer and stretch out my stay.
Perfect place for brunch with friends on a warm day! All day brekkie was delicious. Atmosphere is great and staff are very friendly and kind. Can't wait to come back again!
Great food. Lovely atmosphere and very welcoming. Will definitely be coming back to make our way through the milkshake list
Loved the ambiance and the relaxing jazz music. The owner John had been a gracious host.
