Nice place to take a break while skiing at Mount Buller. You can ski in and out of the back of the cafe.
It is cozy and warm inside (too warm if you have been skiing) and they offer nice hot drinks. The service was a bit disorderly and disinterested.
It cost about $5 for a nice chai latte, and I would pay that price just to use their clean and uncrowded toilets.
I have to say from the get go, while I love it when I get special treatment as a regular customer at a restaurant I also appreciate and know that they need to look after all customers, regular and new, if they want to succeed - after booking early I hated being seated right next to a door (bloody cold wind in Mt Buller) and having not just a stream of guests, but also staff pouring through all evening - even though there are double doors, they hold them both open for convenience! So when we asked to move somewhere a bit warmer while the restaurant was partly full, we were promptly told that all of the good tables were reserved for regular customers - well they should put a sign up stating this is their policy. The food was ok - tomahawk steak was a bit tough for aged beef and some of the tapas meats were also a bit tough and dry on the reheating - wine list was ok - service was fast and efficient. The over all layout is ok given the space - however I might rethink bar and seating locations. Would not bother going back as I am not a regular and clearly will get a crap seat.
Great place! Always go to snow pony when we go to the snow and it never disappoints. Just stopped by today for lunch. Had the burger and a chicken salad, both very nice. Delicious pastries and great hot chocolate! Perfect spot to warm up by the fire.
