Excellent and affordable quality Japanese BBQ in a casual and family friendly / party atmosphere. Food is ordered at your table via an iPad and delivered by friendly and efficient staff.
Loved it! Good food and good service! š
Been coming here with my family since it opened and itās always an enjoyable experience. The booths are really cute and really add to the experience. Japanese bbq is a bit pricer than korean bbq, but itās a lot more flavourful in my opinion.
I particularly enjoyed the ox tongue (with garlic) and the chicken karaage. They have a buffet at different price points but we chose to do a-la-carte. The wagyu didnāt seem that much better than the rest of the meats, but still delicious.
I enjoyed the meal and the service was good. It was quite busy which I took to be a positive sign. We will definitely come back and I recommend the sashimi.
Very nice Japanese Yakiniku restaurant. Nice ambience / cozy place. Fantastic BBQ meat and excellent service. Came on Monday evening. They have Mon-Thu $39.80 buffet with 50 variety. This promo ends 1 July (but when I last went the boss said it is to be extended for another 3 months due to popularity).
We decided to go Premium, $69.80 as we love Wagyu meat. Meat is of high quality so food wise, cannot complain. I suppose what we like apart from the good meat is the level of Japanese service. Very fast food delivery (maybe being Monday a bit quiet).
Highly recommended but one thing to remember, they accept CASH only for the promo deal.
This is a fantastic Japanese yakiniku BBQ place! It is run by the Japanese delivering the authentic Japanese yakiniku experience. They also offer 3 types of all-you-can-eat buffet. There are a lot of choices to choose from. Always go for the premium wagyu beef! The marinated sauce is good. The staff service is top notchššš. Note: no lift access.
There are so many great eateries in Neutral Bay. I absolutely love Izakaya SamaraiĀ Ā but recently I discovered a new Japanese BBQ Yakiniku eatery called Nikaido in Neutral Bay. The entry is not as obvious so keep an eye out for their sign as you walk up the stairs. Owner and Chef Hitoshi Takagaki of Nikaido tells us all about his love of BBQ flavours. His restaurant is a mix of Japanese Restaurant and Yakiniku as you can order lots of other menu items from Nikaido as well. For full review including photos, go to the blog post.
Having been to Japan several times, I have come to deeply admire the Japanese attention to detail and relentless effort to reach the highest standards. This pursuit of perfectionism is reflected in Nikaido Japanese Yakiniku Restaurant in Neutral Bay. Hinoki, a type of highly-prized cypress native to Japan is used throughout the restaurantās interior. Ā The wood is lemon-scented, lightly coloured with a rich straight grain and is of such quality that, for centuries, it has been used in palaces, temples, and shrines. Owner and chef Hitoshi Takagaki imported the wood from Japan, along with barbeque grills and extractor fans, to recreate an authentic dining ambience for native Japanese and local Sydney patrons.
Yakiniku is Japanese for "grilling meat" and when visiting a yakiniku restaurant like Nikaido at Neutral Bay, that is exactly what you do. Nikaido has recently opened and the restaurant looks amazing. It has a blend of old meets new, with even small traditional Japanese seating areas located away from the main dining area. If you are planning a visit, make sure to ask for the traditional seating area for that authentic experience.

All Japanese yakiniku restaurants are not created equal. While most Australian diners are likely to choose their favourite barbeque joint based upon premium cuts of wagyu (guilty as charged), for Japanese diners, I'm told itās all about the sauce. Iām speaking with Yuri Tazunoki from Washoku Lovers at Nikaido, where sheās very excited about the sauce. Weāre talking thick, brown Japanese barbeque sauce thatās made here with a not-so-secret addition ā ramen stock ā an idea generated from owner and chef Hitoshi Takagakiās time in a Sydney ramen shop. From his time managing a Newtown izakaya, Takagaki has brought over an extensive iPad menu of additional dishes to make your simple barbeque meal into a well-balanced, table-sized banquet. Luckily when our avalanche of side dishes arrives, weāre hidden from view in a top-of-the-line private booth screened with beautiful pale hinoki or Japanese cypress. Yuri explains itās quite an extravagant use of this slow-growing tree that is normally reserved for houses or baths. The heavy wood screens cleverly soak up sound too, so our booth feels quite intimate despite tantalising strip-wide glimpses of our barbeque-loving neighbours. After lining our tummies with...
We tried this Japanese Yakiniku restaurant last night and were very impressed! The restaurant opened only this month (December) with the official grand opening in January so currently the ambiance is nice and intimate. In addition to the standard restaurant open table setting, there are also partly private booths for a more intimate experience. The produce was fresh and of high quality and the service was just fantastic. We tried (and recommend) wagyu beef (perfectly marbled), marinated beef ribs, beef tataki (lightly seared and well flavoured), tofu seaweed salad, pork belly, lotus root crisps, chicken karaage and bibimbap. All of the dishes were reasonably priced.
We will definitely come back here for Japanese BBQ. I highly recommend dining here if you're in the area!
Have been going to this place for years and it never disappoints!
We usually have the All You Can Eat menu and choose either the "Nikaido" or "Premium" option. Kids under 5 years old eat for free and half price for years 6 - 11 years old. You get 90 mins to eat which is more than enough.
The meat selection is great and their quality of meat is fantastic. The selection of other items are also great.
Definitely one of the best yaikinku in Sydney!
Who can say no to UNLIMITED Japanese best quality beef, pork, chicken, sides etc in North Sydney?! With less than $50 pp on certain days, you can eat really good bbq meats til you drop here. Best to come in gang, hungry, angry and desperate to bankrupt the owner of this kind establishment š¤£š¤£
Both the meat and sashimi were fresh and very delicious. The sauce of yakiniku was homemade, and I could taste various flavors. There were many kinds of desserts and they were delicious too.
Best yakiniku!! Great value for the price. $68.90 for premium, can order wagyu beef and more for 100 mins. They serves portion size according to how many customer. Menu has a varieties of food such as rice, fried rice, sashimi, side dishes.
Love the atmospheres of restaurant as well, feel like I'm eating the meal in Japan. Recommended to do booking first as they always busy.
Very comfortable seating arrangements! Service is wonderful! food is fresh, super delicious and delivered quick! we've chosen salt and pepper to come with all our meat as they are fresh enough to not need any marinated sauce:) however some items(sashimi etc) can only order every 15 minutes which we think is a tiny little bit too long.. but it is still a great experience! Really enjoyed, Thanks so much againš
Love the premium meat. I have dined in here so many times and the quality of the premium meat is always very consistentā¦Just scrumptious ! I must say this is one of the best Japanese bbq I have ever had so far! Canāt wait for my next visit already! :)
Had the $70 all you can eat for dinner with a bunch of friends. This place has some of the best side dishes I've had at an AYCE, the sushi and sashimi is fresh and the softshell crab is also delicious.
The meat however (which is arguably the main attraction) is a bit lacking. A lot of it is frozen but the quality is still redeemable. I'd recommend getting the cheaper options.
Overall would recommend, great place and atmosphere!
