Baked goods, count me in. A Sunday morning visit to Uprising Bakery in the quiet neighbourhood of Maryville. Don't mind the queue, it moves fast. Oooh, so much to choose, I got the following:
Savoury Danish - light crunchy pastry with a delicious filling, absolutely loved it!
Berry Brioche - sweet, jammy and tart berries compliment the rich delectable creme patisserie in this lovely brioche creation
Bostick - orange soaked brioche filled with almond frangipane, this is a light and very tasty item
Hazelnut, Maple and Chocolate Tart - lovely balance of flavours with a strong chocolate flavour coming through but not too chocolatey. Delicious.

This place was just amazing... It was a bit of a drive and very well hidden, but definitely worth it. We had the continental breakfast which was absolutely amazing (and huge). You get to pick your pastries and they were just devine.
Nice decor. A little hard to find if using Google Maps, as it isn't recognised as an outlet yet. Staff were pleasant and the choice of food for lunch and breakfast good.
Had the ratatouille pie which was tasty, and a coffee that was good.
Already wrote a review about my love for the bread here but today I tried a bacon and egg pie and lamb sausage roll. Both were super tasty. The pastry on both were to my liking. Pie one held its shape and had nice crunch. Sausage roll pastry very flakey. The pie was really interesting. The egg part was tasty, nice herb flavour and creamy with two large egg yolks and bacon on the bottom. Lamb in sausage roll also full of flavour. Meat was juicy. Now I'll come here for bread and pie. Also got some hot cross buns because it was good friday. Massive line up. It was quite dense. I don't usually eat hot cross buns so really don't know if that's good or not but I enjoyed it.
Almond Croissant. Delicious flaky sourdough pastry with a light sweet honey and buttery flavour. Yum!!
Bakery review. The bread is fantastic and well worth a trip to buy. Haven't tried the cafe section yet.

First off – this place was way bigger and way more impressive than I had expected. It’s like a huge warehouse, the majority of which is filled with bread as far as the eye can see as well as busy people baking things and lots of flour.
The best chocolate tart I’ve ever had in my life. It wasn’t too sweet together with the tart pastry that was absolutely perfect.
Croissant was wonderful, it would be great if I were there earlier for the freshly baked one.

If you love Croissants, you cannot go past this place. The best, not just in Newcastle, but easily on the Central Coast. My photo does not do it any justice. You have to experience it to believe it. They also do amazing Almond Croissants and have great coffee and great Sour Dough bread
This store at 25 Downie Street Maryville, formerly known as SMEDMORE is the site where my Great Great Grandmother and Grandfather lived and started the Lane Clan in 1841 / 1842
Beautiful selection of bread, cakes, tarts and savoury items. You have to get in early to get what you want though as they sell out. It's also very popular so there's often a line up. On the more expensive side of bakeries but great quality and very tasty.
We drove 2hours to have sausage rolls and x-sants.it was worthy it!
What a rustic and beautiful experience. The place is serene and is located inside rather than on the main road. You may not find this while travelling on the main roads and is a best kept local secret.
The kitchen inside is huge and people seem to be like locals but may have travelled from other suburbs. Reminded me of the past how people would have gone to the cafes.
I loved the Almond croissant and have never had anything like that anywhere else. This shop serves food with love.
In an unpromising entanglement of one-way streets you’ll find this magnificent bakery. But it’s a food destination that’s well worth your time finding. Their meat pies and sausage rolls are encased in perfect flaky butter pastry and brimming full of delicious meaty-filling. We were there for lunch and had the traditional beef pie, lamb and preserved lemon sausage roll and the pork and chutney sausage roll - each were excellent! The lemon and rosemary house made soda was a little flavourless but our friend’s ginger soda was lovely. The cafe itself has a relaxing atmosphere if you’re eating in. And there’s loads of goodies to take away. We stocked up on a couple of tarts, lemon yoghurt cake and a loaf of their specialty bread for the road.
