This place always has a massive queue at lunchtime. It's famous for its Laksa but was way too hot for that today so went with the Nasi Lemak , another Malaysian staple.
It was very tasty. All the flavours and contrasts where there, and was delivered in real street food style. However the side broth (usually a great accompaniment), was way too salty and sweet, so became overpowering.
Overall though quite good, I'll be back to try the laksa. Service was brisk and efficient considering the small kitchen and high demand.

Understand that laksa isn't 100% authentic, but it is the best laksa I've ever had. I don't quite like the traditional laksa as it's too sweet for my taste. I used to eat there once a week when I was working in North Sydney. Now I'm located in Sydney CBD and have not found a good laksa place yet.

This was my first time trying out a Laksa. I ordered the beef Laksa and it was so delicious and so much for what I paid for. Great taste and great value for money. Strongly recommend it.

We Food Hunters are always on the lookout for great laksa, so May's being the North Sydney institution it is was a must-visit. Despite the fast and furious service and turnover, there was still a reassuringly long line waiting at this food court outlet when we arrived for lunch time peak hour. We managed to get a table and almost instantly the laksas were ready - chicken and prawns. The vegetable ingredients were fresh, and though the chicken and prawns were nothing to write home about either in quality or quantity, it was the soup that was rightfully meant to be the star of the show. There was a little more coconut milk in it than I expected, but that said the balance of flavours was handled so well that I almost didn't mind.

Great laksa! Busy at lunch time so get there early or be prepared to wait. Have heard other dishes are really nice too so will have to come back to try.

I was expecting great things but in the end, it's a food court fast food place - authentic but didn't wow me.. I had the Nasi Lemak which was supposed to come with chicken but they substituted beef rendang (but in chicken curry). Go figure..

Finding new eateries in North Sydney now the office has moved and this one is right on the money for good value and quality Malaysian Hawker food. Laksa is the main stayer but plenty of other traditional fare too including Mee Siam and Char kway teow. Better hurry if you want Randang as the chef yells out 'its all gone today' with a big smile on his face.

Great laksa and chicken rice! The quality has gone down since the owners changed at the end of 2014 but those two dishes are still really good for Sydney
Shame it doesn't open weekends

Oh Yeah. The massive queue speaks for the high quality food.  Situated in the food court of Berry Square, you would not expect the taste buds to dance so wildly as they do.  Known for their Laska, I personally have been a massive fan of their rice and noodle specialties. On this occasion I ordered the curry with the roti bread (another favourite of mine).  Delish baby! A lot is packed into a tiny bowl. My friend got the laska where she hoped there were a few more prawns but plenty of noodles and other accompaniments to test her tastebuds. Get there early if you can as they at times run out of key ingredients. It's a food court setting so it's a cheap and cheerful setting. It will set you back about $10 for a meal. I also ate a handful of prawn crackers at the counter... Prawn Laska - Mar Mee $10.90 Curry with Roti $9.50

Nasi lemak is considered a national dish in Malaysia and comes served with coconut rice, ikan bilis (anchovies), toasted salted peanuts, half a hard-boiled egg, rendang (meat in dry curry), cucumber slices or acar (pickled vegetables), and sambal (chilli-based condiment). The version that May's Laksa House serves is slightly different - it had the coconut rice with dried shallots sprinkled on the top, ikan bilis, peanuts, hard-boiled egg and cucumber, and was served with beef rendang (though I found this to be quite watery and more like curry) and also a slice of fresh tomato.
