We had a wonderful long lunch here. Charred has an amazing wine list, fabulous cocktails, excellent, professional and knowledgeable service and the food was some of the best we've ever had. It's low key and no nonsense putting local produce front and centre. The truffle custard egg was sublime. A real treat. We'll be back.

What a gem this restaurant is! If you want the best of what Orange has to offer in farm-to-table cuisine, Charred is a can’t-miss. They even showcase their local suppliers on their menu! We got the tasting menu, one regular and one pescatarian. Both were incredible value for the price, and the courses were exquisite. The standout for me was the corn dish, which was a celebration of corn and truly one of the most innovative dishes I’ve ever had in fine dining. Corn meal shaped into a corn on the cob with a corn salsa and a charred corn tortilla, nacho crumbs (brilliant and tongue-in-cheek) with cream and hot sauce fashioned into an “egg” on top. My partner’s favorite was the steak which he sincerely proclaimed as the best steak he’s ever had. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. Charred bartenders also know their way around cocktails, so maybe plan to visit a bit earlier to grab a drink or two.

We had the delight of eating at Charred on our weekend away for Day on the Green, the degustation menu was outstanding and great service from all the team. As per the photos the food has a real artist flair and substance to it, and great local produce. Also worth trying the locally inspired cocktails.

This place would probably be one of the best restaurants in NSW. The variety of flavours and types of dishes in the tasting menu is extensive. The food portions are good and you could tell that the best available ingredients are used to cook your meal. The staff is fantastic as well and takes time to explain the dishes. I would definitely be coming back here next time I am in Orange.

Incredible experience for this night, the three entry snack surprised me an my friend, especially the first one, salted melon and pickled onions mixed delicious flavours, love it!! The two Mains Angus beef and lamb are juicy and well cooked, totally matched my preference. Moreover, the dessert must waiting for the Vanilla cream melt and well mixed with the watermelon splice that you will enjoy the amazing taste of it. Great service and excellent environment, we'd love it and will come back in the future 😍😍😘

Top quality restaurant in food and service. Everyone knows what they are doing. The food was great. The wine was local and great. The place is better than a lot of so called 5star places in Sydney. It was a pity that an older amorous couple ruined the feel of the place later in the night.

WOW! WOW! WOW! I cannot fault this dining experience - literally was blown away! We were extremely speechless, the price vs the master piece on each plate….. this would easily have been north of $300 in Sydney! I cannot wait for the new season menu, we will hand down be back again. This place is a must when in Orange! You won’t be disappointed!

Amazing staff who looked after us all night. Mouth watering food and delicious wine to match. We started with the beetroot, then gnocchi and followed by the steak. For dessert we had the cheese platter and the caramel pear tart. Just wow! We chose to add local wines to each dish. Dave was very knowledgeable about the Orange region matching wines beautifully. If you're not one to spoil yourself, but do enjoy good food, do yourself a favour and get spoiling. You won't be disappointed.

Coming from Newtown in Sydney I am never short of restaurant options, but Charred in Orange blew my regular haunts out of the water! From the minute you step inside you know you are in for something special, the decor and ambience is stunning. The shared dining style was perfect for my table of 8 and the staff explained the menu well and recommended the perfect portions. A particular favourite of mine was the Fire Roasted Chicken with soubise and charred onion in roasting juices - if you think you've had plenty of chicken in your time think again, this melts on your tongue! Even the little things like the bread for the table were special, handmade in the kitchen it was incredible (and I never thought I'd say that about just bread!) Without a doubt the ultimate desserts were the Citrus Mess and the the Moroccan Donuts, ohhhh those donuts were divine! Add to this the perfect selection of wines to compliment every dish and cocktails to finish the night on a high! I will definitely be returning, in fact I may ask if they take standing reeat bookings!

Couple the amazing food with an award winning beer & wine list add attentive friendly service and you have a venue that is a world better and we are lucky enough to have it in Orange!!!! Everything about this restaurant is truly exceptional. The ambiance, menu, service and food could not be flawed. We loved the lunch menu and will definitely be back to try out the dinner menu too. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself, you won't regret it.

I had to leave after ordering my food to resettle my baby at home. On my return the rest of my table were finishing off their last main meal. The chef insisted on cooking me all my meals fresh which was extremely lovely of him. The food was amazing and the service excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant!!!

Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. This concept of dining stands out in Orange - shared tapas-style plates of various portion sizes; and the dishes themselves were exciting and delicious. Bone marrow melted! Divine lamb. Etc Etc. Great desserts. Wait staff attentive and personable. Loved the alcohol menu, especially because there were imaginative choices for 'non-drinkers'. I was taken there as a special Mother's Day pressie experience. So glad I chose Charred Kitchen and Bar, thanks to a positive recommendation from a former student.

Fabulous night with great food and wine pairings. Locally foraged mushrooms made in to a custard was a standout. Dave, the sommelier shares our love of food and wine pairing and spoilt us with choices from both local vineyards and beyond. The bao was so good that we went back at 5pm the next night for a pre dinner bite and more interesting wine. We will definitely return to this gem in Orange & hope to bring friends with us.

From the minute we walked up to the front door, we knew we were in for something special - and we were not disappointed! What a warm and inviting atmosphere! The staff were all friendly and knowledgeable, and the shared plates are brilliantly paired with suggested wines, but if you'd rather choose your own, you'll find plenty to choose from in their huge selection of wines and spirits. The food was beyond amazing, and among the highlights were the Wagu beef, lamb rump, and salmon, and for dessert you can't go past the Moroccan Donuts or the Honey cake. All in all, an absolutely amazing dining experience, and one that we'll be heading back to try again very soon!

What a wonderful place to dine. It’s a bit rustic and spacious but has a lovely warm feel to it. The staff are very friendly and chatty and the service was excellent. Although they made a number of errors during the dinner I have forgiven them as they rectified everything and really this is a good place to come so they got 4 stars. The menu is not big but what they serve up is fantastic . Wine is also special here and all in all a great night and thanks to cat who saved the night. Desert was a peach melba and the best desert I have ever had. Yummy yummy. I will go back again and we’ll done. Go to dish is the crab entree and steak.

A huge wine rack stares you in the face as you walk into Charred. As I went with a group of eight we were forced to eat the four course banquet menu at $85 pp. The service was polite and unobtrusive. The food was excellent and the presentation perfect.<br/><br/>It's good, it's not cheap, but you'll still want to go back anyway.

the glazed sauce, this chicken was cooked to perfection. Soft and juicy tender chicken. which was moist inside and yet perfectly charred on the outside. Don’t want to. sound redundant, but I think this was the best dish of the day. The puree on. which the chicken was placed was a soy bean puree which went really good with

Absolutely loved the food here. Had the tamale first. Never had tamale before so not sure if this is the best or anything. All I can say is that we really enjoyed it. Liked the corn salsa it came with, freshened up the tamale and sour cream. Next had the bone marrow. Deliciously fat, butteryness spread over charred bread. Could have had more!! The main was lamb rump and broccoli. Loved the addition of the almonds on the broccoli. Added nice crunch element and since they were covered with the burnt butter sauce, tasted really nice as well. The lamb rump, cooked to perfection- so tender. The char on the outside added a beautiful flavour to the meat and the minted yoghurt and onions helped cut through the heaviness of the meat. Little bits of falafel also very enjoyable. Small bits of flavour bursts. Finished the meal with a donut. Light and fluffy inside, light crunch to outer layer. Absolutely amazing hot, cold combination when filled with custard and granita and eaten together. If I wasn't so full on the lamb, I would have ordered more. For the amount of food we ordered, I think the price is very reasonable too. Would have liked to have been part of a bigger group to try more.
