Review The Common Terrace - Orange

The worst experience I’ve had at any restaurant. We were the only people in the restaurant and had to wait 30minutes for an entree which had chicken and it came out raw. The waitress did not know what ‘raw’ means. The rest of the food came out and please refer to the pictures. Curry came out frothy, Pad Thai had an off smell to it, the fried rice and stir fry did not look like it was cooked today. When I asked if the food was microwaved the waitress said no and as she said no we hear the microwave ‘ding’ in the kitchen. Her excuse for using the microwave was to “keep the food warm after it was ‘freshly’ cooked straight off the stove”. We didn’t eat anything because the food was inedible but still had to pay a portion of it. The waitress had told us we had wasted her time because she had to take time to “wash the dishes”

I visited this restaurant with my wife and we loved the food that was cooked for us very much. My wife ordered mango chicken which was very delicious and fresh. I ordered the beef biryani which was honestly the best I've ever had, fresh and full of flavour. The owners are very friendly and even stayed back for us after a last minute booking on a Sunday night. We'll be coming back here again on our visit up from Sydney next time

I usually buy Thai from the other Thai restaurant on Summer Street which is great but thought I would try this one today, for the first time. However, they irked my Friday evening mood by giving me food that's not worthy of being sold at a restaurant. The lady had no telephone manners when I called to place the order. When I finally arrived at the counter, she was equally arrogant and condescending. I felt very unwelcome. Very unprofessional. The Pad Thai had no taste except plain, cheap sweetness. This place needs investment both in cooking skills and customer service. Wish you all the best. All deserve a chance to learn and improve. I would like to hear of improvement before I return here.

Food: Came with a big group of friends to celebrate a birthday. 3 of us shared a few dishes (Massaman Curry Beef, Salt and Pepper squid, Tom Yum Soup, Spicy Fried Rice). Our friends ordered other dishes so we can't speak for them. They were all decent food, but they were all very small portion sizes except for the fried rice. The Massaman Curry Beef had a very one-note sweetness to it. We tried a friend's dish (a noodle one, Chilli and basil?) and the taste and smell of bamboo overpowered most of the other flavours in the dish. Customer service: Quite good, nice and polite - it seems to be a family run business which is very nice. Other: One of the dishes that my friend tried to order was no longer served because it was too hard to make - it might be a better idea to update the menu not to have this menu item, and also update the menu to have Chef's suggestions or favourites as there are almost too many options to choose from. Our friends who ordered from the Indian part of the menu seemed to enjoy their dishes a lot more (even with the very small portion sizes), so I cannot speak for everyone's experience.

Honestly, every dish ive had is the best in either Thai or Indian. You wont get better. The staff are so professional and the food is beyond fantastic.

Delicious food! This was our first time trying this restaurant. We ordered hokkien noodles, massuman curry, rice and tom kha seafood soup. We will definitely be going back. Keen to try the indian next.

Ordered takeaway. Worst green curry I’ve ever had. Full of sugar. We threw it out because it was inedible.

The best Thai restaurant in Orange hands down. Friendly staff, quality value for money and with a cafe style menu attached, it makes the common terrace an appealing eatery for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Highly recommend to all lovers of authentic thai food. We sampled the chicken satay skewers which were delicate and tender practically falling off the skewer, served with a creamy, spicy peanuty sauce followed by four delicate vegetable curry puffs whose filling was so moreish I wanted to order another. Next was the Chilli and Basil noodles with beef which sang of authentic Thai flavours, the massaman curry with beef pieces soft enough to cut through with a spoon. The Chilli jam and cashew nuts with prawns was sweet salty and just hit enough to linger on the palate. The dish of the night definitely had to be the Chilli jam fried rice with pork whose subtle shrimp paste and sticky sweet flavours tied all the dishes together to create one memorable dining experience. Thank god, finally some decent thai food in Orange.

Fresh and flavoursome dishes. Best Thai in The central west. The various vegetarian options are consistently fabulous. The family who run this business are lovely also! Bonus!
