Stumbled across this cute japanese restaurant when looking for dinner on a Thursday night. They were quite busy so we sat up against the bar window which we didn't mind too much. I ordered two cocktails, soft shell crab, katsu curry and the volcano roll. My favourite would be the roll, the salmon was definitely fresh and all the flavours really worked well together. The katsu curry was nice but I felt it could've benefited with abit more sauce (curry) as there was alot of rice! Dinner was about $75 inc drinks
In love with this place - Their meals are vibrant and so so many options. Portions are nicely big and filling! Definitely an amazing Japanese place in Parramatta to try out
Delicious Japanese restaurant on a new strip of restaurants. Umaya offers dishes that come out in very little wait time, we had the edamame, ocean sashimi plate (very fresh), gyozas (soupy like a xiao long bao), wagyu tataki (very salty), seared salmon roll (quite nice). We also had the chicken karagee which was very juicy and tender.
One of my favourite local restaurants and so lucky I do not have to travel far to enjoy a great Japanese meal. Great staff and ambience in the restaurant. A few of the favourites - curry katsu don, beef tataki, takoyaki, gyoza and the sushi is fresh and perfectly presented. I keep coming back and will do so to try the other dishes on the menu.
Consistently awesome karaage curry udon! Service has always been friendly and the decor is very new and pleasant. Besides that karaage curry udon, the sushi has been a consistently high quality too.
Great service and food, reasonably priced, nice decor. The waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and was gave an honest recommendation about how much food we needed.
We visited in a Saturday evening, without a reservation, when the restaurant was quite full. service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere is very pleasant and modern, but with traditional roots, against a concrete walled background.
The menu is varied while covering the popular Japanese dishes. We had three shared plates and a salmon teriyaki set between us. All very good quality. Parramatta needs a traditional Japanese restaurant with good quality service in a nice atmosphere. $50 without drinks is reasonable for this quality and service.
New izakaya menu is just brilliant and friendly pricing. I will never get tired of eating here every day. Salmon poke is the best. Grilled Scallop is melting in mouth. What else can surprise me more!
Been to this place twice now and enjoyed their authentic Japanese teishoku cuisine. Having waited sometime for proper Japanese restaurant (other than sushi!!) in Parramatta this place is a welcome addition to the area. Might not be for everyone who likes large portion meals with lots of herbs and spices. Could do better with the rice but overall more than satisfactory~! Really friendly staff who genuinely wants their customers to enjoy. My recommendation for the kitchen is to remove menus like Wagyu Tataki and stick to what you guys are good at~~!!
The dish was good, tasted very close to Japan island. The environment was excellent, like the feeling the of 1st floor and 2nd floor has completely different style. Friendly staff.
