Wow!! What a gem of a find Gaudenzi wine bar is. It is located in the small rural town of Penshurst which is conveniently positioned to be an ideal base to do a day trip to the Grampians or down to the coast to Port Fairy or Warrnambool. Across the road there is lovely airbnb accommodation. On a Thursday, Friday or Weekend Gaudenzi wine bar would be an ideal place to ventured to for lunch with a designated driver. The building is historic and has been beautifully renovated with obvious passion and attention to detail. Trevor is a very obliging host. The menu changes frequently so ring ahead and check what is available. On our visit the menu, of homemade chicken and leak pie with coleslaw dressed with dijonnaise dressing and a tasty chutney, or a chunky beef pie with the same accompaniments, was a small selection, but very much to our liking. Trevor was obliging enough to put together a platter of cheese and fruits at my request. Small nibbles are served with drinks and our little tart was a tasty treat. This is more that just a place to go to eat or to indulge in its extensive list of wines and beers it is an attraction in itself.
A great French inspired wine bar with a local drinks menu and yummy bar snacks that come out with drinks. We had a three course meal ( need to contact to find out and book when they are on ) and it was delicious. Thank-you Trevor, we will be back !
Fabulous touch of Europe in the small town of Penshurst. A great range of local wines, beautiful finger foods and excellent service. Highly recommend a visit.
