Review Caffe Italia - Perth

Absolutely brilliant. We came here last night and had the best time. The food was delicious (seafood pasta, entree deep fried calamari, entree calabrese sausage, lemon lime meringue pie), all of it - i even ate 3/4 of the bowl of chilis in oil; the service was friendly and understanding, and the serving sizes were exceedingly generous. I highly recommend it...

We ate here on a Friday evening. It was very busy but we managed to book a table on the night. The service was friendly and efficient and the food was delicious. I had the veal saltimbocca. Sadly, the restaurant is closing, but they're opening a new one called Roberto's on Bennett Street, and I look forward to eating there as soon as it opens.

Authentic Italian restaurant which is actually run by Italian people! Service is very good, they treat you with care and attention, trying to make sure you enjoy your meal and have everything you need for that to happen. Food is very nice, decent amount of options and even a few vegetarian ;) Regarding the cafe attached, coffee is really nice, they sell baguettes that look amazing (haven’t had the chance to tried them yet) but they are freshly made and stuffed in the moment you ask for one! Variety of cakes and ice cream to choose from if you have a sweet tooth. I have to admit that sometimes even if I’m not in a coffee mood I go anyways cause I enjoy talking to Roberto while he prepares one for me! Super nice person! I recommend!

It was ok. Nothing special. The place closes down soon and it's the little things that you notice. Glasses weren't polished, table wasn't completely layed. The staff were really good but unfortunately there was an egg shell in my Carbonara.

Last night had the pleasure of getting takeaway chilli mussels from Caffe Italia. They were fresh hot and delicious! Thankyou Roberto and crew what a fantastic experience. Cheers

Nice venue in a not too busy area. Service is good. Dishes are large and quite tasty, particular the pizzas. The menu is traditional Italian. I found the gnocchi dish lacked a bit of flavour, but have always enjoyed the pizzas.

Good and cozy venue Friendly staff and they work very effectively and fast We ordered Quattro Formaggi pizza - four cheeses, really well flavored and cheesy. I like the pizza crust, thin and tasty About Ravioli, it's hot inside, soft and juicy Next is the lovely Parmigiana with Spaghetti bolognese, Parmigiana is crunchy outside, hot inside, chicken is soft, not dry at all, a little bit salty, which matches perfect with their spaghetti. Because the spaghetti is saltines with the sour of tomatoes sauce. I really into the Parmigiana, rarely see any restaurant has the chicken cover with the powder without any gap like this venue, it's stunning for me. Carbonara Pollo is normal, not really stand out for me Move on to the desert.... Tiramisu - homemade - is soft, tasty Apple pie is amazing, it's sweet but not too sweet, work well with the ice cream. Normally in other venue, their apple pie is really sweet, but not this one, which is really good Overall, the food is good, the venue's atmosphere is cozy, however the price is a little bit high!

The food is not the reason for this one star. Also, not the waitress who is very friendly. This one star comes from the manager (I assume), who told us that I could not share the pizza with my partner. We just had Korean BBQ before. We didn't saw there is a sign says "pizza is not for share" anywhere inside the restaurant. So we were asked to order another main even we actually did not want it. Because he said " this is a restaurant and we don't allow to share the pizza." I am not sure this is because both me and my partner are not white. If this is because of racism, I congratulate you that you were the first racist I have met in my six years living in Australia. Super disappointed and annoyed.

A fabulous owner operated venue with food that never disappoints. Friendly and accommodating staff, need I say more? But I shall because this place deserves the best. Classic and consistent old school Italian, these guys know their business and it shows. The place is always busy and bustling with service with a smile, and a little bit extra. If you haven’t checked it out already, treat yourself🙏

I came here on a date with this guy. The restaurant is very small and cozy. However they just rush you in and out and because of this the quality of the food is just not at its best!!! <br/><br/>The high light of the night was Arancini balls. They were crunchy on the out side soft in the middle with chunks of Potato and cheese and soft rice through them :-)<br/><br/>The tortellini was nice however the pasta was under cooked and quiet doughy! And cold in the middle If it was cooked to Al dente it would of been a 5/5 :-(<br/><br/>The margarita pizza was nice. Thin base with generous amounts of toppings!<br/><br/>The panna cotta was nice it almost tasted like the middle of Creme brûlée. It was topped with hot strawberries (very amazing)!<br/><br/>I think it’s a little over priced for the pasta when it’s not up to good standers... they also need to slow down the service and not try and rush you in and out with in 15 minuets it’s just not right. I even had to ask for the desert menu because they where hoping we would leave after our mains.... a little disappointing. I won’t go back there, as there is a lot more Italian restaurants in the area I want to try!!!

The food was awful and such a disappintment. I love Italian but this was very substandard. The pizza was incredibly salty; Pasta was dry and flavourless. They didn't have half the desserts on the menu- the apple pie was poor in presentation, crust soggy and stale, like it had come right from the microwave; and the sponge of the tiramisu soggy, and lacking coffee flavour. <br/>I am surprised to see Caffe italia with such ratings and positive reviews; they are undeserving of it. The only redeeming quality is the nice decor but it was rather quiet for a Friday night.

The owner himself is rude . I would never go to this place again. <br/>We weren't too hungry and ordered some starters and dessert for which is unacceptable even when the place is empty. <br/>Usually ppl are polite however just coz of the service I would never go here again

This place delivers what they promise - comfortable middle of the price point Italian food. I was dining by myself - was warmly welcomed; the service was great and the food really good. They were gracious and even a little flattering when I tried to practise my Italian which was an added bonus If I were back in Perth I would certainly come back.

Busy and polite staff. Didn't like the arancini much, quite dry but you can't like everything! Had to take half a point off because the toilet is through the foyer out the alley and services the car park..... it's not safe and it's not clean.

Never got to even try the food, was with 2 friends and we were intending on getting a pizza to share... when the waitress came she said that we had to order one main per person at a minimum... nowhere is this stated.. so they lost out on our business and I won't be recommending them to anyone else. Stop being so pretentious and start treating people with respect.<br/><br/>I also added this review on their Facebook page, but they deleted it...

Been back on many occasions. Can't say enough about Roberto and his team. Service is superb, food is consistently good, atmosphere makes you want to stay.

Pasta is my ultimate comfort food and being hungover, I was beyond excited to fill up on a delicious pasta. In choosing somewhere to order from, under the advisement of colleagues that Caffe Italia was "amazing", I ordered a take out Pasta Contadina. <br/>The serving size was gigantic but it was all pasta with a tiny bit of chicken and mushrooms. There was almost no sauce, was supposed to be a creamy tomato sauce, so it was really dry and there was literally no flavour to it AT ALL. The disappointment felt was immense. Won't be back.<br/>Needless to say, I will no longer trust any one of my colleagues when it comes to a food recommendation.

Best Italian food out! Amazing atmosphere and family friendly staff who are always outgoing with service. An amazing authentic menu that isn't over priced. I have dined around the world and I chose here!!

Great food, great drinks. Unfortunately, the staff is rude. I asked for a tissue but he told me to go to toilet instead. Wasn't really happy about it.

The food was average, but portion was big. The waiters occasionally group up and talk amongst themselves in Italian in the middle of the restaurant. which gets a bit awkward. The atmosphere is quite nice. But food-wise, it's only average.

Saturday night, called at 8.10pm to order a pizza. Told us 20 minutes to pick up, got there at 8.30pm and nothing. They asked me twice while I was there what I ordered so I repeated my order, wasn't sure if they had already made the order. At 8.45pm, my partner asked them if it was ready and the guy ONLY STARTED MAKING IT THEN. We were fuming by then. He asked for our money back and they just gave it back to us, with no apologies, nothing. It was as if they were doing us a huge favour by taking our order. NEVER GOING BACK THERE. BAD ATTITUDE, WORST SERVICE EVER!!!

This place is great. My office is nearby so I seem to eat here a lot but honestly why wouldn't I? Never had a bad meal, as a couple, table of four or larger group of 10+. Everything is good. Pizza, pasta, seafood, meat, I've had it all at different times. Wait staff are very good, professional, knowledgeable and importantly, Italian. If you have a table of maybe six or more don't order an entree but just ask them to bring you a selection. Arancini, squid, focaccia and more. Good, authentic Italian. This could be Rome.

Date night! Decided to stay close to work so we jumped into CaffèItalia. <br/><br/>It was 545pm but it was open with a few diners already sitting in.<br/><br/>We had a beautiful wood fired pizza, and a ravioli with an amazing sauce. Seriously - AMAZING sauce. I'm not proud of this, but we actually mopped up the sauce with the pizza.<br/><br/>Seems like it's been ages since I had a meal where I felt I genuinely got my money's worth. I don't remember what this cost (two hours ago) because whatever it was, the food I got meant I got the better part of the deal.

I have eaten here several times in the last 2 years. love the pizza some of the closest i have had to meeting the Neapolitan standard set in Italy here in Perth. (if you dont know what that is i suggest you google it so you know what pizza is meant to be like). Their pasta's are also good but i still much prefer the pizza. I find the wait staff friendly and attentive and the owner is always good for a chat on the way out the door. . You can BYO which is also a plus in my book.<br/><br/>Picture attached are takeaways

Below average pizza, rude wait staff. Went to this place for takeaway pizza. The guy taking me order was very abrupt and rude. "What do you want?". No "hello". I ordered my pizza "18 dollars", with outstretched paw. No "please". I hand him a $20, he slaps $2 change down on the counter, beside my open hand. No "thank you". "You can wait outside now", despite the fact that 90% of the indoor tables are empty. Never again.

Awesome. Our new favourite place to go! Great Italian food and no surprises. Good location, easy to get to without dealing the hoards. Will be back very soon

Bustling place with lovely food... The seating can be a bit cramped but I guess the food makes up for everything. We tried the Involtino Di pollo alla paesna (pan fried chicken breast stuffed with prawns nd capsicum) gnocchi and al Quattro Formagi they were absolutely spot on. For dessert we tried the tiramisu which was slightly on the sweeter side. The service is extremely efficient but they could do with a slight smile. Would definitely visit again.

I really wasn’t expecting much of a restaurant located on the eastern end of Hay St on a Tuesday night but it turned out to be a bustling little low-ceilinged joint absolutely brimming with people. Pleasantly surprised already things only got better when our shared starters of salsiccia sausage, bruschetta and garlic pizza bread arrived. The sausage was rich and spicy and the bruschetta very well

Turned us away on a cold stormy quiet night. We turned up last Sat night<br/>When it was cold wet and stormy and they had few customers for dessert and coffee. They said no we are serving dinner.<br/>Very blunt and unfriendly.<br/>I can't imagine at 8 they would have suddenly become busy and they missed out on 4 paying customers plus our goodwill.<br/>Won't go back again

Bad experience. Do yourself a favour and head to Ciao Italia. If you cant do that, head to Woolies or Coles and make dinner yourself, for a better experience. Failing that, any fast food place would still be better. The food was poor and cold. Staff were rude where they would just snatch empty plates off your table without saying anything. Many better options considering the prices they charge. Heck even if you lose money at the casino, that would probably still be a better experience.

Absolutely delicious. Wandered up here from my hotel during a business trip to Perth. What a nice surprise! An absolutely delicious barramundi topped off with great service with a smile.<br/><br/>Will be back any time I'm in Perth.

Almost didn't eat here because of bad reviews glad I chanced it anyway fantastic Italian meal very authentic had the seafood gnocchi and hot salami pizza in addition to bruchetta for enter all meals were well above average if rate it 8/10 service was friendly and prompt would come back if I was a local

Experience descending. Been coming here for a while now but this time will be the last. I can handle the lack of service and rude staff but lack of service, rude staff and now poor quality product - ill take my business elsewhere moving forward

Nothing special, food is so-so and not seasoned well. I ordered a fettuccine prawn with zucchini and it's much below average expectation.<br/>Don't recommend this place at all for Italian food. No idea why people come despite poor customer service and arrogant owner mending at the cashier.

Rude Service, Okay food. The food was expensive and the restaurant felt cramped and noisy. We had a booking for a birthday party and some people arrived late, the manager was extremely rude and hurried us along since he had got the next booking after an hour and a half. The charge per person for getting our own cake was ridiculous so we asked over the phone if they sell cake. They didn't bother to clarify that we can't buy a whole cake and can only get slices. A no go.

Utterly disappointed! That.... Utterly disappointed! <br/>That I read good reviews about this one and saw people lining up to get a table made me interested and decided to try. Ordered fettuccine and my wife ordered spaghetti. We were very unimpressed. Most importantly, I am sure they were not cooked with olive oil because there was a heavy flavor of Palm oil in the dish. Would never come back.

Pushed out door as soon as you finish last mouthful. Enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Was there on a date, so plenty of conversation during meal. Still had a couple mouthfuls of food on plate when they came to collect plate. Within a minute bill sitting on table. Still with wine in glass - in a period of 5 minutes we twice had someone come to table and check for the credit card. A minute later owner comes to table and very rude (started talking when we were mid sentence) wanted to know how much longer we will be. Gave him credit card and he processed payment before I finished last two sips of wine. As we stood, a waiter blocked my date from getting out from behind table so they could remove table cloth off table.<br/><br/>I have never seen such rude service. <br/><br/>Only go here if you are willing to shovel food into your mouth and deal with a rude owner. If you are more interested in a relaxed atmosphere and enjoy some conversation with your meal, may I suggest you walk a couple of metres up the road to Bluerock Cafe. We ended up having to walk up there to get a coffee to finish the evening.

Love its linguine contadina, spaghetti olio oglio and pizza vegetariana. Thr olio oglio was simple but packed of flavor! Pizza was mois with plenty of toppings. Love the restaurant ambiance too. Service was professional. Would definitely love to return.

Love CaffeItalia. Always busy, beautiful food, lovely service - Roberto and his staff are fantastic. The pizzas are great and the Cabonara is amazing.

Best Italian in Perth. Do not even mess about and just get the specials - Baby goat (Capretto), Rabbit Casserole (Conigllo) or Ossobucco Stew. All the best dished you will find in any of Perth's italian restaurants <br/>And Roberto is not grumpy, just passionate

Hmm. Interesting experience. Lovely pizza and pasta, but the rib eye steak was disgusting. A great deal of fat, know its meant to have fat, but once it was all cut off and the actual steak eaten, there looked as much there as before it was eaten! and it came with a measly few beans and a couple of pieces of potato. Also, the coffee was awful! Great wait staff, prompt service, slightly cramped tables. So a mixed review.

Absolutely excellent. Four of us went there Saturday night 2nd August. New to Perth we picked it at random. Four of us each had different entrees and different mains. We enjoyed it so much we returned Monday night 4th August. Again 4 different entrees and 4 different mains and all different from Saturday. All food was excellent, as was the service and the sense of humour of the staff and the friendliness of Roberto the owner. We'll be back next time in Perth

Usually good food but last Thurs had calamari main. It was OK but calamari was a bit chewy and the green beans were way over cooked. I expect better for $29.

Visited on a busy Tuesday night. Great friendly service, delicious carbonara and pecan pie. I will go back :)

Terrible. We walked past on a Wednesday evening and decided to go in and book for the Friday night. The waiter asked our name for the booking but didn't write it down. Arrived Friday evening, obviously booking means nothing as he moved a table and got a table ready for us, so it is obvious that it is just first come first served. It looked to me as if everyone was trying to look super busy when there was no need. The customer service was appalling. Ordered seafood pasta and Osso Bucco. The presentation was poor and quality very average. Osso Busso was swimming in fat and some of it was very dry. We didn't feel encouraged to try dessert. When I paid I was expecting to be asked if we enjoyed our meal, however, no such question was forthcoming. We certainly won't return when there is so much choice around.

Amazing flavours and food - great Italian. Been back a number of times in the past 4 years and trying many things on the menu that all have been outstanding. The restaurant is Italian style service, the food is amazing for done in or the jumbo takeaway pizza. It seems to always be busy on Friday nights, but well worth making the effort to get a table. Finally a decent pizza place in Perth! After spending three months living in Italy we were starting to give up hope of getting something comparable. Pasta was al dente and arancini was not bad either (although a sauce was on top of it we could have gone without). <br/>Atmosphere is fantastic, frantic and all the waiters spoke in Italian, made us feel like we were back in a sweet little Italian restaurant. <br/>Far too full to try dessert but there is always next time.

Arrived at 9:30pm with party of 3 to have a quick desert. After being seated in the half empty restaurant, ordered desert and was told we weren't allowed desert unless we ordered mains first. I expected the host of candid camera to appear and tell me it was a joke...... we were told to leave as it is a "restaurant" we were loyal customers until tonight NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Very unimpressed. Made to look silly by the waiter who was a smart Alec. If it had just been the 2 of us, we would have left but as we guests, I remembered my manners and reserved my comments. The subsequent fish dish delivered was watery and flavourless.Green beans do not constitute a description of "served with steamed vegetables ". My OH stated his pasta dish was average. The lack of air conditioning on a hot night did not help. Will never return.

FAIL 101. Ii ordered a pizza abt 2 weeks ago and it was really bad. <br/>the eggplant was undercooked, it was very sad<br/>Closing time it was then so I let it slide and <br/>Yesterday in a blitz of hunger i gave this place a second chance<br/>Waited 40 minutes on a warm summer evening on a hard wooden stool<br/>I asked for garlic bread all i got was pizza base with sauce<br/>My pizza was like slop from a very poor source<br/>Never will I solicit this restaurant even with a gun to my head<br/>I warn you all the same , cook at home in your bed.

Lazy home cook. Best pizza in Perth by far - thin crust, minimum toppings in the real Italian style. Fast service, very friendly staff. Will go back again.

Crap management. After hearing fantastic reviews from friends I decided to come here for dinner for my birthday with my family. I had booked a table for 7 people for 7pm, four days before hand, however, when we arrived our table was not set up and we had to wait for them to move tables together in order to sit us. <br/>Our mains came out at random times over a period of 20 minutes. Five of us received our meals over a 10 minute period, whilst the other two had to wait for their pizza and calzone to arrive for another 10 minutes. After asking two different wait staff what was going on with the food and getting no communication back about what was happening, the rest of us had to start eating (which had begun to go cold by that point). <br/>When we complained about the fact that the food had not come out with in a reasonable time frame of each other, we were told that it was because of all of the take away pizza that had been ordered. Shouldn't customers who are dining in the restaurant (and had booked a table) take precedence over those who are doing take away? <br/>When going to pay the bill, the manager was indifferent and basically said "these things happen". This is a case of incredibly poor management and lack of valuing the customers. Having worked in hospitality myself for the past 8 years, this kind of service is simply unacceptable. <br/>Will NOT be going back there again and will be telling everyone I know not to subject themselves to such poor treatment.

Disgusting!. Just left cafe italia for my birthday dinner we ordered 2x salmon steaks & 1x macaroni ossobucco. It was slop soaking in oil, the way the salmon was cooked was shameful, the potatoes were soaking in oil & rock hard. The ossobucco was half hanging of the side of the plate and swimming in oil! All three dishes were left on the plates hardly touched and charged @ $155.00 for slop. To top it of the owner of the premises extremely arrogant head on him! When asked for a takeaway tiramisu he said no.... It wouldn't taste the same if served into a takeaway dish. We replied well it wouldn't taste any better than the slop you just served up.! Don't eat at this place, he doesn't know how to cook, save your money & disappointment!

Overpriced Slop!. We ordered a jumbo sized 'Carnivora' ($30) and after an extended wait we got home and opened the lid to find the most sparsely topped pizza i'd ever seen,it was incredibly oily and the base was undercooked so much so you had to pick it up by crust and the tip otherwise the cheese and toppings will slide straight off into a oozy mess.The guy at the counter was one of the rudest people i've ever met not to mention our order was 25 minutes late,double the 25 minutes we were promised on the phone.<br/><br/>Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Love this place. Went back second night because the food is so good. Had the Swordfish, it was excellent and the others were very happy with their food.<br/>It is always busy so you may have to wait for your table(even if you have booked) but it is worth it.

Grumpiest owner I've ever come across. Went for our staff Christmas dinner (we work across the street) on a Wednesday night, with 6 people we ordered lot's to share around. We booked for 6pm, after 2 hours we were told by the owner we'd taken too long and we needed to leave. Everyone at the table still had wine in their glass. After another 20 minutes of death stares from the owner he abused us and told us that we needed to leave now. The food was good, however I will never be going back. Never been so insulted in my life!!

Good pizza - chewy, thin, authentic crust and flavoursome pizza sauce. My vegetariana was great, made quickly, and with a smile.

The food is good but the service is terrible. <br/>We waited more than one hour for our food and both the waiter and manager were very rude about it, they don't care about customer service. <br/>I do Not recommend this place, there's many better options out there.

CaffeItalia Addict. Can't get enough of this place. My partner and I are regulars a minimum of three times a month feeds our Cafe Italia addiction.

Myself and my partner had dinner Thursday evening at caffeitalia as it was recommended by a friend and I must say we were not let down! It was by far the best service we have received in any restaurant so far in Perth. The staff were very attentive and the food was spot on. Will definitely be returning !!

Good food & service. Went here on a Wednesday evening with 4 other friends. I had the Penne Alla Contadina. It was absolutely lovely! Such good food. My friends had pasta and one had pizza. Everyone loved the food. The wine was good too. Prices were reasonable. We stayed on chatting til late and the staff were very friendly. We were very happy with the service.

Shocking customer service. I booked a table for 12 people at 7pm, we rocked up at 7.04pm only to be told by the Italian man that he'd given our table away as we were late and didn't think?! we'd turn up - he then went on to say he tried to ring us (which was obviously a lie, as there was no missed call on my mobile and he wouldn't have had time to have rung in those 4 mins, as the restaurant was so busy/humming with customers). Seriously?, he obviously didn't need our business as he could (as he did) gave away smaller tables for diners from the booking for our 12. He said it would only be a 10 min wait, so waited and then he said 10-20 mins, so with that we said forget it and walked out and took our business elsewhere. I did feel bad writing this review, but upon reading other reviews about the bad service and attitude from the staff, I'don't feel bad at all! This now means that we will recommend/tell all our friends not to go there...and we all know how small Perth is.

We booked this restaurant to catch up with friends. definitely Don't recommend it if you want to have a nice & peaceful conversation with your friends after your meal without being rushed to pay your bill. We booked at 5pm, the manager was late & the door wasn't open till 5.10, as soon as we finished our main, about 6, the waiter put the bill on our table, the manager came twice to "hint " us to pay, saying there are people waiting, well you should manage your booking better then! We had our quickest catch up, less than one and half hour! Food is average anyway. Will not come again!

Excellent traditional Italian style food and service. great food, byo and well priced, worth the wait for a table. the mussels are a must!

Another good one for Italian food lovers. I was there with a friend, we booked the table but we waited for 30mins for our table to be ready. It was my first time there, a packed sardine can that would described it. Customers are outside line up and waiting. We finally got a small tiny table fitted in the corner room and surrounded by big groups of table. <br/>Noisy, Big boss yelling and screaming, which I had no idea about. Wait person are so great, so efficient , good service with smile and nice manner which differ from the big boss at the counter. <br/>The food were slow to arrived but totally understand and apology by wait staff. I had my chilli mussels but it was a turn off as it wasn't to fresh to eat. The other dishes were superb. Awesome place to eat if you don't mind the long line waiting, noises and manners. Not suitable for family with young children for sure.

Rough service! Horrible experience!!!. What makes dining out with friends more memorable are the services you get in a resto, cafe or pub or wherever you go. If this is felt by everyone, a place become memorable and customers will tend to go back to that place. THIS PLACE, being my first time to visit, FEELS very exclusive to some and very discriminating to others. There is a distinguishing treatment to people who are one with its italian roots. <br/>The owner has always treated us with indifference, and actually raised his voice on one of our friend about him unable to set our table because she was sitting on the chair placed outside, which in the first place was there for waiting customers. <br/>We were placed in a table only suitable for 4 people while there were six of us. The food took too long to be served and the mains were served before the entree. When the plates came, there was not enough place for all the plates to go, so the content of the other plate was just transferred on top of another food...(Talk about resourcefulness and inconsideration)..<br/>As a whole the food taste was good but the quality was bad and top it up with a really bad service....

Waited 1hour for a seafood pasta that had prawns (shrimps) out of a packet, mussels that were overcooked and sans the clams specified on the menu. No seafood taste at all. But what was more annoying than the pathetic pasta was the lack of an apology from the manager. Won't go back and wouldn't recommend it.

Rude, ruder, rudest!. Never written a bad review for anyone before, but this place takes the prize. The guy behind the till (who seemed to be in charge) was so rude it could have been some kind of TV stunt. We had our food thrown at us within ten minutes of ordering. The starters and main courses arrived at the same time. The waitress refused to deliver them seperately. When it came to settling the bill (over $90 - less than half an hour in the place) I mentioned we were a little unhappy with the service. The guy's response was, 'Don't be so ungrateful. Maybe you should concentrate on the food rather than the service. If you are not happy then don't come back.' Charming. I also heard him telling another customer 'if you are not happy then go to Jamie Olivers'. Make your own mind up if you want to contribute to this guy's wages! As far as the food goes, it was ok. Nothing to write home about, but tasty enough. It has to be said, however, that places much better than this are ten-a-penny in London, normally for at least a third of the price. Besides, if I had wanted fast food I would have gone to McDonalds!

Thumbs up. Walking down Hay St in East Perth there is aplace that is always buzzing and always full. So full in fact people are waiting outside and some are getting takeaways. but when you taste the meals that they have you can understand why the place is always busy as the food is fabulous with often genuine Italian staff. Whether it be the steak, seafood, pasta,entree mains or dessserts it is all good. especially if like me you enjoy Italian cuisine, but I did enjoy the pizza back in the days when they were on Bennett St and they had a genuine wood fire pizza oven. The "Ai Gamberi" (seafood/prawn) pizza was my favourite and was divine! The manager , an experienced chef called Roberto can be grumpy, but with the pressures of managing a busy restraunt it is not surprising but when the pressure is off he is a nice person. A waitress; Eliza who is Italian provided an amiable and sensational service and she earnt evry cent of the payment she received she is a credit to the establishment. In fact this establishment was once graced by Angus Young of ACDC fame and I am sure he had a great meal which shows he has class and sophistication,I totally recommend this restraunt as the crowds that are there every night except Sundays when it is closed speak for themselves!

Have been twice this week after being recommended by an Italian. Food was good except both times one main was almost completed by the time the other main arrived! If they could sort that out it would be fantastic.

Good pizza and decent pasta. I agree with some of the other reviews regarding some of the other options. The pizza base is one of the best in Perth. If you are going for the first time don't skip the pizza & you'll be happy you tried the restaurant.

Good Food. I dine here once a month with without fail with my family great food and friendly staff .

Just average. I had the fresh local squid seasoned with herbs chilli and garlic. One word. Bland. Squid was cooked well. But it was just bland. And they don't even have tomato sauce to go with their side serve of (undercooked) fries. Friend's linguini allo scoglio (clams, mussels and pippies in creamy tomato sauce) was quite tasty though! Don't understand the popularity of this place...

We could not believe it when we lined up on Saturday night to buy an ice cream for our daughter that the cafe was too busy to serve us and was only looking after customers that night. I guess the $18 for three ice creams doesn't count as custom and the future meals we may have bought also isn't custom !!!

A good informal italian restaurant. The pizzas & pastas were delicious & the service was friendly. Would recommend it and when given the chance will return.

Excellent Restaurant with Roberto at front of house attending to all your needs has the best Barramundi in Perth. Make sure you ask for the specials as the Goat is really something special. This Restaurant just never let's you down!

Unfriendly waiter. Just had lunch with a friend and although the food was good, not great, and was served in good time the young waiter was the most unfriendly I have ever experienced. Other staff were pleasant enough.<br/>Having firendly staff serving is an important part of the dining experience perhaps something the owner really needs to consider.

Always good!. I often go here with my colleagues on a Friday afternoon for lunch and it is fantastic - large serving sizes and beautiful food! They are always busy so it is good to book ahead if you have a decent sized group. Can't recommend this place highly enough

Poor service. I explained I was going to be there for only an hour and was was with my 3 children. Only ordering a pizza,glass of wine and coke, was also told it cost more to set the table I was eating off! So I said, what; I'm not spending enough money hey?? Little does he know, that people actually come back to your restaurant when you have good service! That guy has seriously bad manners, what a pig of a man! His business will never succeed while he's running it

The food used to be soo good but yesterday when I went there, they did not clean the prawn properly, so I tasted the sands in my mouth. It was aweful. I will never go again. Also, worst customer service too. One of the waiters was extremely rude and unprofessional and pushed us to finish our meal asap and get out from the restaurant. The owner was not professional and and made a sleazy joke about my friends and me, which is disgussting. Sorry, but higly recommended not to go there.

Great Local. I'm surprised to read the negative reviews on this site. I live around the corner from CaffeItalia and either dine-in or take-away at least once a month. The pizzas are the highlight - thin crust, authentic topics. I'm also a big fan of their fish dishes which are simple but always great and the specials. CaffeItalia is always busy. There isn't much spare space inside which is why take-away orderers are asked to wait outside, I think it's pretty considerate that CaffeItalia provides seats for those waiting outside. This isn't the right place if you want a romantic meal or to be waited on hand and foot, but it's perfect if you want a great pizza and a bottle of wine (did I mention that it's BYO?).

Bring your wallet - or STEER CLEAR!. We were asked to leave by management. After being seated at our table (myself and 3 company-director friends of mine from over East), and ordering 2 of their massive pizzas to share between us, plus drinks, breads and probably desserts later too - we are asked to increase our order size or leave, because we are not ordering enough to justify having a table. The manager was completely unapologetic and then made a song-and-dance about it when we got up to leave and kept telling us that we don't justify a table. Rudest and most arrogant restaurant EVER!<br/><br/>Unknown to them - I was there on company assignment to write for the Sunday Times and Sydney Morning Herald for a restaurant review!!! Keep your eyes on the newspapers CaffeItalia, because you'll have plenty of time to read them!

Love it. Seriously this place rocks my world. Ive been there a number of times over the past six years, and its never let me down. The staff are attentive and the food is to die for. I took my family there the other day, it was their first time, and they absolutely loved it. The portions are generous and the quality is top notch.... really like the added chillies in olive oil for a condiment. Cant wait to go again with my family.

Disappointed would be an understatement. I booked a table for 5 2 hours prior to arriving and was told a table was reserved for us only to arrive and be told our table would be a ten minute wait. We were kept waiting out the front for half an hour, during which we were shown no apologies or care, before I had to go into the resteraunt and ask to be seated. Once seated we experienced poor service, one waitress in particular looked like she was attending a funeral. Of the five mains that were ordered, the food was relatively good, aside from mine. The pasta was raw in the middle and I asked for it to be sent back only to get a replacement of more raw pasta. We will not be going back and do not recommend that you eat here. There are far better Italian resteraunts in Perth

I live around the corner and go there all the time both dine in and takeaway. I've never had any problems with service at all - in fact i get a warm greeting from the owner every time. They always seem to manage the waits out front really efficiently, and once in, sure mains may take awhile sometimes if they're super busy (as you'd expect in any busy restaurant) but order an entree to get u started and the main is there before u know it. Food is good, though i go there more for convenience and a reasonably cheap italian hearty meal than a fine dining experience. Was quite shocked to see all the bad reviews actually. I'm a fan

Negative. They cannot cope with the number of people at the restaurant. We ordered a pizza and a pasta it took over an hour to get our food and it was not worth the wait. The pasta was salty and the pizza was burnt.<br/><br/>Definately not going back there.

Hands down the worst "Italian" restaurant I have ever been to, out of 5 people none of us were happy with our meals, small calamari and salad serve, over powering cheese in the ravioli, asked for garlic bread, got garlic pizzas which are more expensive. Chicken salad drenched in oil and flavorless. Calamari was flavorless. Waste of money for a dinner out.

Having heard so many complaint about the services, our dinner turned out amazingly wonderful. Busy Saturday night, but good services, friendly staffs and even though we had to wait for about 45 minutes for a table of 6. Smaller party would get a table quicker. Since most of us had lunch at 3pm we were pretty full at dinner time. We had meatballs for starters, which is distinctive as a homemade meatballs, yum. We had marinara spaghetti, fettuccine, gnocchi and lamb shank. Pasta wise, we thought they were just ok. But pizza wise, it was a bomb! For dessert we all had tiramisu, no complaints from fellow diners. Attentive staffs, and a good casual dining to catch up with friends. Would love to try the gelato ice cream next time!

Outstanding. This is without a doubt one of the best Italian Restaurants in Perth. The service is excellent, the food is authentic, and the atmosphere is brilliant. Expect to wait for a table if you dont book and the pasta and pizza is great value. There are always interesting specials and all this is coming from a wog boy. Check it out.

Lying cheating con artists with substandard Italian food. Just returned from dinner with family and I am still seething with anger. Granted that the pizza was apparently nice, the rest of the food at this Italian joint was just absolutely terrible. Do not be fooled into thinking that the queue outside this place means that you will be served a good Italian meal. Absolutely not! I had to return the gnocchi special (which was over $30) because the meatball was uncooked and cold in the middle. A plate with gnocchi went back to the kitchen but only the meatballs returned minus the gnocchi. No apologies. Worse yet, after paying for my bill, I noticed that I was overcharged. Honest mistake, perhaps but, when I brought this to the owner's attention that he overcharged me, I was dismissed and told that he just punched a different button but it was for the same meal (untrue of course) and then walked off. Perhaps, it was "my mistake" that I did not ask to have a look at the bill prior to letting him swipe my card. I thought that those in the hospitality industry such as those running this place had the decency to be fair to their paying customers. I would never ever go back to this place again and you bet that I will be letting my friends know as well. I would give it a subzero rating if this was available on tripadvisor. Don't waste your money but If you do dare try this place, I would urge you to check your bill before you hand over your cash or credit card. It may not be much but it is the principle of the matter that counts.

Food is OK, service was terrible. Staff played stupid games with our group of 5 - we had no booking, and they dithered for 10 minutes about whether we could get a table or not (it's a yes or no). They then were clearly pissed off with the amount of food we ordered (apparently no other customers share pizzas). The pizzas came in good time, but then another 1/2 hour passed before the one person who ordered a main dish got their meal. Most of the staff were acting like it was a real effort to serve. Not recommended.

The service is idiosyncratic, they will do whatever they can to get as many people through as they can, but the food is excellent. If you're dining alone, don't be surprised to find another solo diner at your table, I loved this. If you're coming with a big group, make after plans as this isn't a place to waste away the evening. I think it's worth checking out.

Good Food - Terrible Service. Terrible service!!<br/>Waiting almost an hour for two main courses, a couple at a table next to us who were waiting slightly longer rightly threatened to leave.<br/><br/>When we paid there was some complication with the eftpos machine and wouldn't you know it when I returned home I had been charged twice.<br/><br/>The manager was not impressed when I returned the next day for my refund even though I was able to provide him with a copy of my receipt and also my bake statement showing a double payment..<br/><br/>Will not return

Regular Customer. I dine here about fornighty and have regular take away pizzas. <br/><br/>I find the staff freindly, helpful and courteous. The food is always very good. I highly recommend. Try the Tiramassou .. its the best desert I have ever had.

Possibly the best pizza I have eaten in a long time. Pretty pricey for takeaway ($30 for a jumbo meat feast) but it was massive and more than enough for two to share. Restaurant was packed so glad I went for a takeaway.

Do not go here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I have never met a more rude owner in my life!!! We had booked a table for 6.30pm last Sat night ( 4th June) for 8 people. Got there early at 6pm ,was out of there at 7.30pm,never been so hurried out of a restaurant in my life. Owner really rude, telling us people needed the table ( no mention of this when I booked the table for 8 people 8 days prior expecting a nice social relaxing Sat night with our friends!) I emailed him my feedback on Sun morning,didn't even have the courtesy to reply,surprise,surprise!!!

Major Disappointment. I ordered Linguini a Fongole with "fresh clams".<br/>There were sever shards of broken clam shells in the pasta and the clams were like rubber.<br/>There was a smell from the sewer grate in front of the place which wafted across patio with every little change in the breeze. Maybe I should have ordered the special "Baby Goat"?<br/>That sounds totally disgusting. Give me a break Australia, you can do better than this can't you??

Damn good pizza... damn bad service. I came here during lunchtime on a Friday and it wasn't too busy (luckily). We ordered a calzone and a pizza, and I couldn't believe how great they tasted. <br/><br/>But then I went to pay, and there was such a lack of co-ordination between the kitchen and the front desk that the old lady at the front was getting annoyed at us because she couldn't find our order receipt. They eventually found it in the woodfire pizza pile. I found this pretty funny considering one of the girls trying to figure it out was the one who served us the pizzas. <br/><br/>Overall, I definately would come here again, not being biased, but I've found that service and waiting times are always a let down at italian restaurants I've been to.

Caffe Italia = Crap Service. We will never eat there again! Their service is so bad! We decided to get takeaway pasta last week, we phoned our order & was told ready in 25 mins. My parnter turned up 25 mins later and not only had they not started our order but had forgotten it! So my partner waited another 20 mins. <br/><br/>Deciding we can't be bothered cooking the following night, we phoned through our pizza order & was told it would be ready in 25 mins. So once again my partner turned up 25 mins later and once again they had not started our order and it wasn't even written down. My partner mentioned that this happened to him the night before and he was told to pay & wait outside. When my partner stated that he would prefer to be told the truth on the phone that the pizza would take 45 mins rather than 25 mins, the guy told him that he was not getting a pizza, get out and he was calling the Police! At this time 4 of their italian friends were sitting at a nearby table & my partner could see that they were ready for a fight! My partner asked if he was getting a pizza or not and the guy said only if you shut up, pay now & wait outside. All this to get a bloody pizza!

I get taken here a lot for work lunches and for what u pay for it is okay. The portions are huge but personally I think it is too much for lunch time meals. There could be more salad options. As there is only one. But it's a good one thou

A Nice Find. Great menu with lots of choice. The pizzas looked delicous. We opted for pasta and two appetizer dishes. The pasta portion was huge and very tasty. Calamari very soft and delicious, didn't care for their cheap out of the jar tartar sauce though. The cooked sausage appetizer was OK, nothing to rave about.<br/>Tiramisu dessert got an A but the Latte was only just warm and too much froth not enough coffee.<br/>I'll definitely go again but will think about some different menu choices.<br/>Service was adequate but we were there early and they were not yet busy.

Cafe Italia - Dinner. I visited recently for a quick business dinner. I had two clients with me. They were staying close by and this was the only restaurant I knew about in the area. We all had the Osso Buco. Fantastic. I had some concerns as had heard service was a bit slow, however it was a very good experience. Go again for sure.

Totally forget it - good food, rubbish service. I REALLY liked this place (dined 5 times in 3 weeks there), but after my last experience, forget it. The food is good, but the service is rude and rubbish. Take your custom else where.<br/>After walking in and standing waiting for around 10 minutes entertained by watching the man in bare feet & pyjamas collecting his takeaway. Our party of two, was snarled at saying "I have a table of 5, and three tables of 3 to seat, come back in half an hour". Sorry, if you can't even offer a simple"sorry guys, a table will be a half an hour" to a regular customer, I'll take my business somewhere else that knows how to treat people who want to give them money.

Go For The Food. It's a busy restaurant, so don't expect smiley faces, or long conversations. <br/>I had Scallopini al Funghi ( Veal in Mushroom Sauce ), with beautiful vegetables. Good food .. service is average. Hgreen, I agreed with you.. food is great there. we had pizza, calamari and a pasta dish... cant fault the dishes. the service however was cold and they didnt make us feel welcome. I'm contemplating of going back but not sure if the service will improve..

Food 10/10. Service 0/10.. This place is like that famous episode of Seinfeld - "The Soup Nazi" - lots of people like the food and don't mind waiting outside the shop in the rain and cold... the food is excellent but the service is a shocker.<br/><br/>I once ordered a take-away pizza and was told to pick it up in 30 minutes. 30 minutes later I arrived only to be told they are very busy can I please come back later - in the end I had to wait for another 30 minutes.<br/><br/>Last time we booked a table for 6pm we had to wait outside until 6.30pm because they had double booked it (or as I suspect, they'd given it to another punter who had rolled up at opening time). This is a cardinal sin and even though the food is good, we won't be going back.

The food here is great. The pizzas are excellent and the serving sizes are huge. The wine list is pretty good to. The service can be a bit hit and miss but the food makes up for it.

For a work lunch we chose Caffe Italia as it's online menu looked delicious. And the food was mostly good. What a shame that a place that has an excellent location, decor and menu was so terribly let down by it's service. There was a 50 minute gap between when the first meal arrived and the last, and when one member of out party inquired as to when his meal would be arriving he was told 'Hey, when I get it, you'll get it'. Really? That's how you speak to an paying customer? Shame.....<br/><br/>Won't ever be going back, as when the wait and service was mentioned to the manager we were completely brushed off with 'well it's very busy' despite the fact that we had called and emailed ahead to place our order to avoid a long wait. Manager was rude, staff were worse I wouldn't recommend it.

The food here is amazing!! The authentic Italian service and food is extreamly good, the wine list I'd great and the pizzas cannot be missed, better than in Italy !!

The saporita pizza had a nice light thin base with plenty of gooey mozzarella cheese, soft juicy capsicum & chunks of spiced potato. A tasty pizza. The spinach and ricotta ravioli in a four cheese sauce was nice but lacked seasoning. The tiramisu had too much cream but was tasty.
