Review Heirloom Restaurant & Bar - Perth

Buffet breakfast for $30. Great selection of food. Fresh fruit, hot food such as bacon, eggs, sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms, hash browns. They have a nespresso machine for your coffee needs, and also juice and water available. The atmosphere is relaxing, and pleasant. Definitely worth going back for breakfast

When I go anywhere, the first thing I do is read the reviews. Here, I received both forms of feedback. I was perplexed by the reviews, but I decided to go anyway. And, thank God, I was able to attend. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was captivating. The location was fantastic!

I checked the reviews before I decided to go despite Quite A few negative ones. But our experience were fantastic. Good service and great food. Steak medium rare, perfectly cook. Twice cooked pork belly is unique and delicious. Beef brisket is a total new found taste and different from what I had before. Desserts were beautifully Crafted. This is not a place for budget conscious person or someone looking for quantity. The serving is although not big but it is adequate. When you are ask by the staffs on how is the food. Please reply honestly Not just going home with a disappointed meal and post bias comments. And don't bother for fine dinning if you cannot wait.

Food was good, I wish there was more light. The mango panna cotta was amazing with the sorbet and loved loved the brisket. The shared platter was ok but felt it needed bit more content

Had a lovely dinner here. The service was good, the food was good and the wine was good. It's on the quiet side of town, so parking was easy to find and free after 6pm.

Booked a date night at heirloom on a Saturday with a special request, our waiter for the night was amazing at his job super friendly and helpful, we ordered the pork pizza and a margarita which was super delicious and enjoyable to eat. As I did request something special for a date night at the end of our meals they had given us small complementary tiramisu following with the writing “happy date night” which has surprised even myself. 10/10 I recommend this restaurant.

Went there for dinner and ordered the 300 g Steak. Medium well done. Excellent. It has been a long time since I have had a steak that good. I had a special deal and it was half price. Full price 44

Lovely food and very attentive friendly waiters.

It wasn’t all that busy when we arrived, After being seated we were offered beverages and served, but the waitress seem to forget about coming back to take our order so we were ignored for quite a while until the hostess came to check on us and learning that no one had bothered to take our orders yet she was very apologetic and quickly took our orders including mock tails which also seem to take a while to arrive, again she noticed our mock tails seem to take longer than expected so she apologized to us again and kindly got them to us on the house. Sorry didn’t get your name but thank you for being attentive to us. It’s a shame the other staff didn’t show the same interest. The food was lovely couldn’t fault the food. But the rest of the floor staff could be better especially when it’s not all that busy.

***Edited/updated to include buffet breakfast review:<br/><br/>3.5 stars overall as breakfast buffet was nowhere near as nice as dinner. Breakfast spread was just okay, nowhere near as complete or fresh tasting as one would expect. Cooked food goes cold within seconds thanks to frigid air conditioning levels. <br/><br/>Stayed the night at Frasers and decided to dine in at Heirloom. Went with no/low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Steak and barramundi mains were good. Starter of arancini balls was the winner of the night. Dessert was the only true disappointment with the crime brûlée barely set and the top not hard enough for the classic “crack”. Unlikely to pick this is as my fave hotel restaurant
I.live.to.eat
only rating it a 4 because went with a groupon for 4 people (2 selected starters to share, mains and drink each, and dessert platter). if paying full price this would definitely be a 3.5. <br/><br/>the bread & dip and bread with chorizo & olives were nice. chorizo was really tasty and breads were warm and crisp on the outside. <br/><br/>for mains we had the steak (medium rare), the pork belly, and gnocchi, and the barramundi. person who had the barramundi loved it - said it was fresh and tasty. steak eater felt the steak was tough and over cooked but the accompaniments were nice. i had the gnocchi which i thought was great because it came with tons of ingredients, but unfortunately the gnocchi itself was very mushy and there wasn’t much sauce at all. pork belly was shared by 2 people who both said it was nice. <br/><br/>dessert platter was average - stuff you’d find at a buffet. <br/><br/>service was good, especially from the front of house (the only male staff that night in the restaurant), but food came soooo slowly. lucky we weren’t in a rush!<br/><br/>probably won’t be back, especially without a voucher of some sort, but we had a nice evening here.

We went to Heirloom with a Groupon Voucher, I cant complain about the price but we would not come back as nothing was impressive.<br/>I ordered the Sirloin Steak Medium Rare, it came out completely rare.<br/>My friend had the pork belly, it was very small but tasted alright.<br/>The dessert platter was the worst part, tiramisu was terrible, cheese cake didnt taste like anything,it was a combination of tasteless desserts .<br/>The best part was our entree which was chorizo and bread .<br/>Chips were good too.<br/>Service was average.<br/>
Waving Hand
This was an overpriced dinner for our special family outing. This with average service, flat beer, very average food in a noisy hotel lobby echoing above the conversation was so disappointing. Sorry nothing good to say about the experience we had.

Went to heirloom for dinner with wife for her birthday . <br/><br/>The food was typically standard fare, it feels like a hotel lobby kind of restaurant , especially since it’s situated under the Frazier suite . <br/><br/>I was expecting to be wowed since it’s link to Pete Evans , well if you are expected to be blown away don’t be .<br/><br/>Overall though the food was nicely done and the fish was well cooked . <br/><br/><br/>At least I had entertainment book .<br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>

I had high hopes for this place given Pete Evans linkages however, it was disappointed we went for breakfast and its not terrible but its not good either, just a run of the mill hotel restaurant. Adequate for some sustenance if I was saying in the hotel but nothing to write home about.

A group of five of us from four countries visited Heirloom on Saturday evening 17 March. We were all extremely disappointed with the place. The entrees took an hour to arrive, the mains another hour and when they did only 3 of our 5 meals came out with the other two arriving after the first meals were finished. We were freezing cold all night as the air conditioning was on Antarctic temperatures and they made no attempt to heat the place. As a final insult they would not split the bill in two which I think is completely ridiculous in this day and age. At the end of the evening I told the Manager everything I have written above but he said that 'everyone came at once' despite the fact that the restaurant was half empty. We will never go there again and suggest that you don't either.A complete waste of money and a very poor dining experience.
Ross
Coeliacs take note: although Heirloom says they do gluten free options, in reality there is one entree, two mains and one desert that are GF. The kitchen can’t adapt anything else. <br/>The food was very nice, just very limited. Service is a bit hit and miss, too.
Mike Fernando
Servings are fine dining portions.. Very small menu so difficult to please all at our table. Expect to pay $70 a person plus drinks. Tasting desert plate saved the day. Better options in perth for the price.

April 2018;<br/>Have updated my review from a recent visit. The food has suffered since the change of menu and moving away from the Pete Evan endorsement. The chicken was greasy and the lamb over cooked. The menu on the website didn’t reflect the night and there was no suitable DF/GF desert option. Overpriced for what they offer. Have not offered anything different to a stand hotel restaurant that are depending on guests not wanting to go out. Glad we had a gift voucher otherwise would not have been worth $130. Staff were still friendly <br/><br/>Original post below (2017)<br/><br/>Enjoyed the evening meal here. Great for food restrictions (DF&GF) and generous serving size.<br/>Recommend seed crackers and dip<br/>The seed bread was average <br/>Chicken and steak were delicious mains.<br/>I enjoyed the paleo rocky road, but very rich favour. <br/>Desert came out about 10min before the tea/coffee. <br/>Service was friendly
Tara
Great service with a good selection of gluten free & dairy free foods! Candles in the centre created a nice romantic atmosphere. Will visit again!

We tasted 6 dishes at Heirloom. The food was tasty and well presented food. Staff kind, attentive and efficient. It is shame that the restaurant’s atmosphere doesn't set the stage for a good food to take the rightful spotlight as guests become its audience. Heirloom could use music, lighting, artwork and spacing to create comfort and intimacy. Currently it has more of a diner feel.<br/>Back to food, Lamb was cooked perfectly, salsa served with Barramundi was delicious. We didn't enjoy dessert, coconut panna cotta with fruit was more breakfast style than a dessert.

Came here for a buffet breakfast while staying at the hotel there wasn't too many people when we went which was good and there wasn't the biggest variety in food but there was a lot of paleo options would come back if I was staying at the hotel

Located in the new Fraser Suites hotel, it's well set out and a pleasant environment with attentive service.<br/>Easy to find a good wine either by the glass or bottle. The food is based around the Paleo principles of low carb and low fat and is very good. Unprocessed and healthy that even after a great steak and a delicious desert like a chocolate rocky road, I didn't feel overdone (or guilty) but had eaten well.<br/>This is a quality place and priced appropriately for the quality. I'll enjoy going again.

I've had breakfast and dinner at Heirloom and my comments are consistent with others here. While the food is good (but not outstanding), the service is lacking. I tried the paleo pizza and was pleasantly surprised by both the almond meal base and the cashew cheese but although it was a nice dish it really can't be compared with the taste and stringy cheesiness of a proper Italian pizza. The breakfasts are great and the chef's special and little pots of chia puddings and yoghurts are just superb.

Arrived early Friday morning before work for breakfast, advertised from 6.30am. When it came to order I was surprised that the menu offered was just your run of the mill hotel style. I asked about the Paleo menu (which was what I had come for - I'm not a Paleo freak, but do like some of their food) and was informed it was only lunch and dinner, in fact, lunch wasn't on (either at present or no longer available) either. The waitress explained it was too difficult to provide two types of breakfast (seeing as they are also an hotel). She was a lovely lady, so didn't just want to walk out. I ordered breakfast which was ok, but just your standard hotel food. I wish it had been made clearer on the website that this was the case.

I have to say that the rating on this restaurant do not do its justice! I love this place as the food I have to say is better than many of the fine dining restaurants out there in Perth. Located at the Fraser's Suite lower ground and as soon as I walked in the service has been impeccable. They have been very attentive but not intrusive. The menu is Modern Australian style and the place is spacious. My favourite dish has to be the Scotch Fillet with Bone Marrow, it is absolutely beautiful and always perfectly cooked! I have been back since for that particular dish a few times now. My other suggestion for main would be the salmon, barramundi and their confit duck. If you are looking for entrée, we have tried the king prawn and ho mak pla which are tasty. Pictures are from different occasions that we have dined in at the place. Unfortunately after the huge meals (since we always ordered way too much for what we can eat), we are always too full to try the dessert so perhaps next time!
Quality! It Shouldnt Be That Hard! Love A Wonderful Mouth Full Of Wholesome FOOD!
So I walked into this restaurant and there staff where into me straight away took me to the table! <br/><br/>I ordered the prawn and pesto zucchini, it was ok prawns a little over cooked, <br/><br/>For the main I had the barramundi it was on nothing wowed me about it, and a glass of wine, Keep in mind these photos are zoomed in. U really need to order sides!!!!<br/><br/>I think the food is over priced for what it really is, i came into the restaurant alone so the service was ok but not out standing, for example I called out to a waiter twice for the bill and she left the plate on the table, it was just average food and average service
Muse
had the zucchini lasagna and the scotch fillet. the lasagna was really nice but undersized. the fillet ($45) was nice, cooked well but there wasn't a whole lot of jus. I would suggest serving the sauce on the side so the diner can pour it on. not really a memorable dining experience overall to be honest and priced too high for what it is. still the food is of a reasonable quality.

We went to Heirloom for the $30 Earlybird offer, which included a main meal and a glass of house wine. First thing we noticed was the very grotty looking seat we were sitting on...some furniture refurbishment is needed. The food was good at this price point, although I certainly would not want to pay the regular prices...the high prices are not justified. The restaurant is a hotel restaurant and has that feel. We would go back, but only for the Earlybird offer.

Had an enjoyable night here in a group of 10, with tasty food & good service.<br/>This place is not cheap, so we were pretty disappointed that the grilled barramundi (at $39!!) was a minuscule piece of fish, and came with no vegetables......needing sides (at $9 each) to make it a meal. Pretty poor really....& with several of us ordering it, there were a few disappointed diners.<br/>Ironically the pizza was the best value on this 'fine dining' menu.<br/>We were also disappointed that having agreed to sparkling water, the waiter just kept opening more bottles & topping up glasses without asking - & at $9/bottle, it was excessively exy.<br/>We wouldn't come back.<br/>

I would score less if I could. <br/>Entrees not great. <br/>The main $45 steak which was inedible. <br/>Unable to cut with a knife. Tough fatty just the worst ever steak I have been served. <br/>The chef should be sacked first for buying such dreadful meat and then having the nerve to actually serve it to his customers. <br/>The waitstaff were really polite and we did not get charged the so call steak. A special evening was ruined and we would never recommend this place. Avoid. Avoid.<br/> <br/>

A while ago the Architect's Daughter and I had lunch at Pete Evans' paleo restaurant, Heirloom, in East Perth.  Notes and pictures below.  . The seed and nut loaf to begin with was good enough.  It's clearly not bread, and not really a bread replacement, but something else that's an equally good way to start the meal. Cashew Cheese had no taste and was there only to ensure the nut loaf wasn't dry, and I suggest it could do with a different name, too.

Upon arrival there were no staff present to escort us to our table. We had to wait for a good 5 minutes. Despite this, the food was quite impressive. The nasi goreng was very authentic, the steak was cooked to perfection and served with delicious bone marrow and the Moroccan salad was an excellent side dish. What was disappointing was the portion size of the barramundi.  Overall would go back again as it was affordable and on the entertainment book!

Ok, food was nice and tasty. Serves were reasonable, given the restaurant class. and the small wine list had enough options. Make sure you buy sides to get enough. Desserts are also nice but small range. I have issues though...<br/>+ no one to greet me - stood there for 5 mins<br/>+ serving staff finally came out and my booking was not recognised so they put a table together for me - lucky it was a Sunday<br/>...<br/>My pet hate - why do the chefs put lycée on the panna cotta? Why did you carve up my shortbread? Leave the food alone. It is tasty enough. The Chicken was awesome and my sons steak was really nice.

I am extremely disappointed in Heirloom’s continuous downward spiral in the quality of food and the service of the wait staff. I am posting this exact same review in 3 different review sites because I would like for this to reach Heirloom staff and for them to take note. When I first visited Heirloom two years ago the service staff were professional, friendly, engaging and knowledgeable about the wine and food menu. The food was impeccably made and definitely worth the price points. Now I am sad to say that I have noticed the quality of the restaurant as a whole rapidly declining with every visit. There is a complete new selection of wait staff who seem entirely disinterested and disengaged in their jobs. They stand around in clusters seemingly gossiping and much more interested in their personal conversations then tending to their customers. I have also noticed that they keep disappearing out of the restaurant for periods of time, which is extremely frustrating when I am after their assistance for another drink or to ask a question. The host at the front counter, a young man, also seems very disinterested in his job, not moving from his spot an inch throughout the evening. Perhaps the young waitresses reflect their laziness from their manager (??) I assume as he wears a suit.<br/>The quality of the food is an entire other matter. The presentation continues to become messier, sloppier and less appealing with every visit. The texture of the coconut lime sauce on the barramundi has become far runnier and watery, and the dish looks very rushed and ill-prepared, with sauce leaking into a million directions on the plate. Another complaint is the pizza. The pizza used to be nicely made, and a nice side addition to a meal to share, or to order as a larger entrée. Now, the base of the pizza is always crusty and burnt, and extremely hard to chew through. The dough is tasteless and dry, and the cheese is always either over cooked or undercooked. I do not understand why the quality of the food has declined so drastically over a short period of time. The chefs need a serious new reassessment and training. There is no way that Pete Evans would want such terribly cooked food to be sold under his name.<br/>I do not recommend this place to anyone. The terrible service experience and food quality are not worth the price point. Disappointed is an understatement.

Booked this place on dimmi. Arrived at the restaurant and was shown to our table by friendly staff. We ordered the Pork ramen, the chargrilled fremantle octopus and the king prawn zucchini noodles for entree. Loved the chargrilled octopus, it was delicious. Wasn't a fan of the pork ramen though. The zucchini noodles was fresh and tasty. <br/>For mains we ordered the macadamia crusted chicken schnitzel, the barramundi, the salmon, sweet potato chips, the moroccan carrot salad, and the puttanesca pizza. I don't normally order any chicken dishes at restaurants, but the chicken schnitzel was delicious. The salmon fillet with romesco sauce was delicious and so was the barramundi. <br/>For dessert we had the strawberry shortcake and the coconut and lychee pannacotta. Loved the strawberry shortcake. Not so much the pannacotta. The experience here has been pleasant. Would definitely come back to dine but not in a hurry.

Was at Fraser's for a work conference and we ate breakfast and lunch at the restaurant - breakfast was very good and the lunch was ok. I couldn't fault it the food was nice and service very good.

The restaurant, located at Frasers Suites Hotel, is a nice looking restaurant. The service was pretty good, the staff friendly. Ordered the Freo Octopus and the Beef with bone marrow. Overall the food was tasty, the steak was cooked perfectly. The menu lacks choice, and tries to be a bit too "healthy" without sounding appetizing. The desert menu is lacking.

Please note: strongly worded review below: <br/><br/>What I don't appreciate about restaurants like this, is the fact that the price and service do not match the vibe, location and name. I don't care who your consultant chef is and how fancy your dishes sound- if you can't put together a decent meal when he's not around, I'm not going to go with the flow and put out a review in your favour. <br/><br/>After tasting multiple dishes through their room service menu, my husband and I finally decided to dine in at Heirloom. The chicken schnitzel was pretty decent- I would've been so happy if we just ordered two of those, because the steak that we had was a hot mess. <br/><br/>Our server was very obvious and matter of fact with her response: "oh it's a scotch fillet" when I asked her if the steak was well marbled and if she would recommend it. Perhaps I wasn't clear with my question, although her response would not make sense regardless. <br/><br/>The steak was way overdone, horrific in its dry, juiceless texture, and even the fat on the side was like biting in to rubber. (I eat my steaks medium). If you can't do it right, pick a better cut of meat or just take it off the menu. <br/><br/>WhAt I genuinely respect though, is the fact that when I called in and requested for 2 of their best desserts with a happy birthday message for my husband, they delivered under fifteen minutes and the plates were very beautifully prepared. The pumpkin pie with bacon bark was okay, but the strawberry shortcake and coconut sorbet was divine. <br/><br/>It's great to have a well renowned chefs name attached to a restaurant, but it's equally important to maintain quality of food and service.<br/><br/>Ps: I'd just like to add that on a separate occasion, my husband and I sat at the attached bar for 20 minutes and watched the server help several guests before even taking note of us.(we sat down right in front of her - at the bar itself) In fact when we asked her for a menu she asked us to wait and helped three more before giving us a menu. We finally got up and left. I felt bad as she seemed overworked but once I interacted with her I realized that she seemed very disinterested in serving us.<br/><br/>Needless to say, the next time I'm staying at Fraser Suites (and that will only happen if the company sending me to Perth decides to book it for me), I will eat and drink anything under the sun before I make the mistake of spending a cent from my own pocket at the restaurant or bar.

Good service, very tentative to our needs. We had the local octopus and the salmon tartar for starters which were great. The mains we had the salmon and streak with bone morrow. Washed it down with a generous glass serving of mr riggs cab sav. Couldn't fault the place.

We have a high expectation on this restaurant as the name is "by Pete Evan" but only from the menu sheet we were told Pete is the "Consultant Chef" of the hotel. Anyway, all the dishes are well presented. However, we had a salmon main course with fennel salad but the salad got no fennel at all. We checked with the waitress and she just go and check with the kitchen. We also saw her check the menu before she go in. Then she just come back with a side plate of the salad with some fennel added in, with no explanation and apology. Alright, we didn't have any chance to respond. Later on we found the salmon is overcooked and got a bone on it too. The confit pork belly is not confit at all to me, as it is obviously pan fried and roasted with a crispy skin. The whole piece of pork is way too dry and overcooked again. We were so disappointed and the waitress came back again to check with us. We expressed our concerns (salmon only at that moment) and she said she will talk to the manager, but we are not sure if she did it. We didn't finished the plate and check the bill at the cashier. We then met the manager and she started to apologize to us regarding on the dish. However, it's too late and she just took out the salmon from the bill. A very minimum damage control. All in all, a lot of improvement required in the kitchen and with the service.

Heirloom is the in-house restaurant in the Fraser's Suits Hotel. I was dying to try this restaurant.  I truly enjoyed my visits, and they have put together a menu that is both healthy and yummy. The food reminds me a lot of the food that was served at the now-closed Solomon's Cafe in Mount Lawley.<br/><br/>Their buffet breakfast is not worth the price unless you eat a lot in the morning. Otherwise, it is overpriced and you will be happier and pay less ordering a la carte. I didn't see anything exciting or out of the ordinary, and way below other buffet breakfasts I have experienced in hotels overseas.<br/><br/>The chia pudding was absolutely yummy. Very fresh and creamy, crunchy flavoursome nuts, sago pudding sort of texture, and the berry compote at the bottom was delicious, and not too sweet. I ordered a soft boiled egg as side. Two were served to me, and when I said I had asked just for one, the explanation (lie) was that they serve the eggs in pairs. Nevertheless, the eggs were perfectly cooked.<br/><br/>The muesli breakfast should be called something else because there wasn't any muesli in my muesli. It was carrot "muesli". To be honest, the breakfast was yummy and it didn't taste of carrot, it has a great colour, great textures and flavours, so I loved it. However, I was expecting a proper muesli. Carrot is not a muesli, pardon me.  I ordered a soft boiled egg as side. There were only three tables with people, but it took the kitchen an eternity for my breakfast to be served, and the two things came apart despite being ordered at the same time. This time they got the number of eggs right but it wasn't a soft boiled egg, it was a slow-cooked egg that had gotten cold by the time I ate it.<br/><br/>Thee zucchini lasagne  tasted great thanks to a olive-and-tomato pesto that enhanced the flavours of the raw zucchini. However, despite this being a late lunch and the restaurant having three tables with people, and only one to serve (mine), the food took a while to come, and the lasagne came mostly cold, a bit tepid on some parts. I get that the raw zucchini is going to be cold if it is raw, but if the rest of the ingredients were hot, one would not get the whole dish cold. This was a bit of put off, really, because it was not summer when I visited and one expects  lasagna to be hot.<br/><br/> The Moroccan carrots were wonderful in their simplicity with a very soft dressing, mint, crunchy almonds, some sultanas and quandons.<br/><br/>The pork belly was really lovely, regarding textures, quality of the meat, and flavours; however, there was less than a spoonful of pure on my dish, a few drops of sauce and the pork belly was quite solid, not juicy or grassy, so once the sauce and puree ended, that is, in a second, the dish turned into a very dry thing to eat.<br/><br/>The kale side was really good. Kale is a fussy vegetable to cook, not easy to get it right re crunchiness and coction. This here was perfect and the sauce really complemented the Kale.<br/><br/>Heirloom is a hotel restaurant. Although pleasant and comfortable, it lacks character and doesn't feel like a proper restaurant. At night the ambience improves considerably. They use paper napkins in the morning but fabric ones at lunch and dinner, something I really appreciate. <br/><br/>The waitresses are lovely, but the service at the kitchen is slow, something I found inexcusable because they charge you top buck and there were very few people during any of my visits. Moreover, in one of my visits, a lady who arrived way after I did was served before I did and was given the royal treatment, something I always consider unprofessional. The service was mostly slow, the food seemed to take quite forever to come out despite the very few people in the restaurant, they were getting the orders wrong and there was a clear lack of communication between the kitchen and the rest of the staff; also between the reception desk and the restaurant reception as I was told that the first breakfast was included in my booking and I didn't sign any receipt, but then I was told at reception that no way and was treated as I was trying to cheat a meal.<br/><br/>The food is overpriced in most cases because, except for the meat and fish mains courses, the ingredients used are very cheap and the portions quite small.<br/><br/>OVERALL<br/>Worth a visit! Yummy healthy food. Overpriced. If you are into Paleo food or healthy food you will especially like it.

I really had high expectations and wanted to love Heirloom because I'm a Paleo and Pete Evans fan. I love having a new 'Celebrity Chef in Town', love having somewhere new to eat, and love having a different style of menu. Unfortunately, I didn't come away in love and wanting to come back soon. <br/><br/>I was unsettled that the restaurant is in a hotel lobby;  Heirloom venue and decor reminded me of the Holiday Inn on Hay St and former Holiday Inn Sirocco. I was disappointed with (in my opinion) the limited and 'Perth Normal' dinner menu; I can go to most restaurants and get barramundi, nasi goreng, salmon and grass fed beef. Not saying 'Pete' doesn't put his touch on the preparation, but I didn't fall in love with anything enough to order from the mains.<br/><br/>My guest and I started with the Octopus and Chorizo, the King Prawns and Mug of Beef Bone Broth. All entree's had great flavour and were nicely presented. Out of the norm and excellent menu item was the Beef Bone Broth. For our main we shared the Puttanesca Pizza w/Paleo Base. The pizza was nice and enough to share (if you have an entree) and the base was very nice for paleo. The homemade chips were cooked perfectly, but not exceptional when compared to other restaurants. We finished our meal with Paleo Rocky Road and Pumkin Pie w/Bacon Bark. Now don't be surprised... the RR was not a chocolate mash, but a Chocolate Ice Cream Bar with Cherry Jelly and Marshmallow(?) elements. Now it was beautifully presented and tasted very nice, but definitely not 'Rocky Road.' The Pumpkin Pie was pumpkin filling in a glass with cream and dark/burnt chocolate wafers. It was beautiful and tasty, but not pumpkin pie and I didn't find any bacon. :(  <br/><br/>Our servers were fantastic. Very informative, friendly and came by twice to check on our meals.<br/><br/>So when compared with other eateries in Perth, I just felt empty when I left Heirloom. There were definitely good elements but nothing that would make me come running back. I would recommend to anyone to give it a go and make your own decision when it comes to Celebrity Chef restaurants. <br/><br/>For 2 ppl= 1 btl still water, 2 entrees, 1 main, 2 sides, 2 desserts and bottle of wine...$174.00<br/><br/>Atmosphere: +0<br/>Food: +.5<br/>Price: +.5<br/>Presentation: +.5<br/>Professionalism: +.1<br/>Other:

Wouldn't have come here if it wasn't for the 50% off total bill (excluding drinks) deal on offer from Dimmi. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprise as the food was simple and very tasty. <br/><br/>For a 5 star restaurant I'm surprise the paper menu doubled up as a placemat. I gave the menu/placemat to the waitress who said she knows it's tacky but she wasn't going to remove it. <br/><br/>

After listening to comments Pete Evans made on 'My kitchen rules', we were expecting something that would blow our taste buds away, in terms of flavour. Entree of 'Banana flower salad with crispy cashew crackling chicken' was a promising start, a little tangy, enticing the taste buds. What followed was a disappointment. For mains, we ordered 'Vegetarian nasi goreng with cauliflower rice and free range egg', which turned out to be completely tastless and 'Chorizo and chicken hot pot with fermented okra' - when we saw this on the menu, we expected something spicy with a lot of seasoning and what we received looked like a cheap, home made meal with no taste. On top of that, chicken was a little dry. We decided not to have any dessert. Based on Pete's reputation, we expected a little more from a restaurant that carries his name.

We went on a Friday and was expecting the restraunt to be buzzing and busy but to our surprise there were only 2 other tables taken. The food was delicious but the servings were miniscule! I had a seared baramundi with delicious crispy skin and my boyfriend ordered the soft cooked chicken. Service was good and staff were attentive, and polite but I wouldn't really go back because of the overpriced food and the relatively lacklustre atmosphere.

The prices are typical Perth expensive prices. However, the food is adventurous and tasty, while the service great.<br/><br/>Glad to see someone trying to be a bit left of centre in this town!

We came here for lunch and we are all agreed that the food is overprice. <br/>But we still want to give it a try coz we are foodie and love adventure, with that price tags we also have high expectation of the food.<br/>We had <br/>Salmon tartare and grilled octopus for entree: delicious..love every bit of it<br/>For main we had:<br/>Confit belly pork-some part of the pork was dry and the skin was hard to bite, if you had a crown/fake teeth, I would not recommend you to try this dish😅😅<br/>But The sauce was nice<br/>Roasted Barramundi- the fish a bit overcooked for me<br/>Grass fed beef fillet, bone marrow- for me: the beef a bit dry...<br/>Overall, we are disappointed with our main course <br/>

There are strong headwinds for this place. A celebrity chef with a philosophical (paleo, low carb) bent who is mostly absent, though his face is on your placemat which doubles as menu; the hotel lobby restaurant syndrome (lots of distracting foot traffic from the corner of your eye, boring decor and high prices - 21-25 dollar starters and mains $31-45). <br/><br/>Despite all of this, I thought the food and service worthy. I liked my starter - the chargrilled Freo octopus with chorizo, though the octopus was perhaps a little too soft and tender with very little resistance. The harissa mayo was like many of the other mayos, over thick. The protein based mains were interesting and of varying sizes - from the water; a huge slab of salmon and a notably smaller piece of baramundi ($38 and $39 respectively). The confit pork belly was my favourite - moist and tender, perhaps a little too much salt (#37). The macadamia crusted chicken ($31) was the cheapest of the mains - the meat a dry, but otherwise acceptable. The only traditional carb I could spot were the thick cut chips - more roast potato than chip ($8) We also tried a rice free nasi goreng - good flavours and crunch, perhaps better as a side/share plate than a main.<br/><br/>The pictured dessert a deconstructed rocky road ($14) - playful and textural.<br/><br/>Short wine list - mostly WA based wines, seven reds and seven whites, nothing particularly exciting for a hard core wino, everything by the glass and no bottles over $65. The priciest of the bottles being a Shaw and Smith SB, so approx x2 (standard restaurant) markup.

Was a bit disappointed. We stayed at Fraser's and a buffet breakfast was included. Pete's breakfast was just a little too healthy. The 'carrot cake' and the 'banana bread' were terrible! <br/>Bacon was delicious. Nice atmosphere but I agree with the other comments of being overpriced. <br/>We also had the chips for dinner and they were not very tasty and did little but fill a gap.... Was expecting better.
Vegemicated
Overpriced! After looking at the website you get a sense of fine dining and some ambience, however this is not the case. Very casual place with kids there and absolutely no ambience. Definitely not a place to take your partner to for a nice intimate dinner. Service was ok, average. The lasagne entree was nice but that was the only thing that was worth noting. Bread for the dips was like cake, wasn't a fan. The Nasi goreng I was lost. There was no rice considering it's a fried rice dish???? It was just cauliflower, broccoli and beans mainly. The veggie pizza was just warm when we got it so very disappointed there. They also served an espresso martini in a whiskey glass??? Where is the martini glass since its a martini. Bar tender needs to be replaced. It's located in the Frasier Suites building and you get the impression it's a bit classy and they charge for classy but very false indeed. They also charge 1.5% on all credit cards which is unnecessary and ridiculous. Avoid.
FineDiners
Quite disappointed on all levels. Obviously in saying "by Pete Evans" we had higher expectations for the food.<br/><br/>I had the Roasted Barramundi. It was nice but nothing to rave about. Presentation didn't wow me either. My sister didn't even bother taking a picture of her Roasted Lamb as presentation was lacking also. According to her, it tasted better than it looked. The others had the Beef Fillet, which looked the best and most unique with the massive bone marrow on plate.<br/><br/>As for dessert, that was more than disappointing. This time, it looked better than it tasted. We decided to have two sets of the shared dessert plate for 2. The little blobs (not sure exactly what each dessert was as we weren't advised - even though we saw the table next to us being introduced to each one) weren't very tasty. The purple one was okay, but the best were the two with the fruits on top. We all wished we had ordered one of the other options.<br/><br/>Moving onto service, this is probably what put me off the most. Their serving protocols appear to be very strict or not efficient, for example:<br/><br/>1. When we first sat down, I had a bottle of wine on the table as a gift for a friend's birthday. We were advised no BYO, which is fine, but I told the lady no worries as it's just a gift. Then she said we can't have it on the table and maybe best to hide it because if management sees we may get told to put it in their kitchen til we leave. Okay...<br/><br/>2. We actually asked if we could have an extra portion of the desserts, as we had 5 people, and we would pay the difference. The lady said they probably can't do that and seemed worried to even ask the kitchen.<br/><br/>3. I asked for plates when the desserts came out and was told to wait a moment as she's supposed to only be looking after one area/department. Anyway, she came back with plates and said "Oh it's ok, I snuck out and got them". Okay...<br/><br/>4. I asked a different lady for a knife. Not looking all that friendly, she told me to wait also and she'll get someone else as she was doing something. Anyway, within that minute, she ended up just turning around and grabbing a knife from another table.<br/><br/>5. We finalised the bill at the table. Upon leaving and walking out, a different lady to the one who gave us the bill, asked if we had sorted the bill. No... we were just going to do a runner... :/<br/><br/>We all said afterwards, "disappointing and won't be dying to return any time soon".<br/><br/>
Food Mania
Drink was not service when they ask us to sit down. After 5 mins siting down, we still did not ask what drink we want. My hubby complaint to manger, he offers to give compliment drinks for you. We share duck leg entree and sweet potato chip. Duck leg is good. Sweet potato chip a bit burn. Then we wait for more than an hour, main meal has not been serve. When the main meal comes, I have barramundi and my hubby has the beef fillet. My hubby asked beef to be medium rare. When my hubby cut the beef, the beef has done in medium. Manager said they will redo the beef. The whole night dinner was spoilt. It is my hubby's birthday. We decide not to have dessert any more. Not a good experience at a fine dining restaurant.

For my birthday my partner surprised me with dinner at Heirloom.<br/><br/>After looking at the menu and seeing all the food coming out of the kitchen I knew this night was going to be good.<br/><br/>We decided on sharing a entreé - Braised pork belly with black vinegar and cuttlefish salad. It was a pretty generous serve and we are happy that we shared it. The pork belly was cooked very well and the crispy skin was superb.<br/><br/>For mains I got the Blackwood valley grass fed beef fillet, bone marrow, parsley and hazelnut salad with red wine jus. I did ask for it medium but it came out a bit too rare for my liking, but I still ate it anyways… it was too good and the meat was very tender. I was more surprised by how delicious the salad was and the bone marrow was to die for.<br/><br/>My partner chose the roasted barramundi fillet with sweet potato puree, coconut and lime sauce for mains. I tasted this and for me to say it was delicious is good considering I do not like seafood.<br/>But we were too full to have dessert.<br/><br/>**Our main meals had come out at the same time our entreé did - think there must have been some confusion in the kitchen. But they were very apologetic about it and the issue was rectified very quickly and then after we had finished our pork belly 10-15minutes later our mains arrived :)

Went here with the Mrs (T-M@c) . Service was below par. Took a while for us to be seated and service was a little slow. Food was great, we both had the steak. It was cooked perfectly.

We came to Frasers for a stay-cation and decided give Heirloom a try. We waited a very long time since arriving as the waitress was very busy telling her life story to the couple who had paid and was ready to leave. After waiting 10 minutes, we were served and seated. We both ordered the steak with bone marrow. They came out within a reasonable time and both were cooked to perfection. The very tart salad with pickled vegetables and capers offset the richness of the marrow. Overall it's nice. Service besides the wait at the beginning was good, ambiance was good, food was good too.
ITADAKiMASU
Beautiful and neatly tucked away restaurant. I visited with the 50%off special and wasn't disappointed. I had the Barra which was cooked to perfection with its crispy skin and creamy celeriac purée. The sweet potato purée was delightfully creamy and not too heavy. I didn't like the turmeric powder which was not mentioned on the menu though. It took away the delicate flavours of the barramundi. My friend enjoyed the beef complete with marrow but the balance of flavours in the salad wasn't quite right. The sweet potato chips are perfection. The pork belly was more than 60% layer of fat and does not have crackling but still tasty all the same. Although the service was brilliant, I'd be more hesitant about dining here at full price though.

Other than the huge delay between dinner and desserts, and waiting for someone at the front counter to great us (we had a 5pm booking), the dining experience was good. My dining partner didn't really enjoy any of the dishes, possibly because unaccustomed to paleo food? I felt you could definitely tell you were eating healthy food for the mains and dessert. I had the lamb for my main dish and it was absolutely incredible. The crispy nori were super oily. The duck was ok. I think it's great to have a paleo restaurant and would definitely come back. Prices are high so you definitely know you're paying for healthy ingredients.
Martin's Masterchef
I went to Heirloom for dinner with my wife, the food was excellent, the speed of delivery fast and the atmosphere sedate. The deserts were so beautiful to look at that I almost didn't want to destroy them. <br/>I did and they tasted as beautiful as the looked. Just keep in mind Pete Evans philosophy on food. Nothing bad to say. 4.5 Mr Evans!

Thoroughly enjoyed lunch for 4 people. Service was attentive and efficient. Food was well presented and tasted great. We all ordered something different and enjoyed everything.
Will
The 1.5 score is basically for the environment and service. Unfortunately, the food is quite bad. I had the lamb for main , the lamb is very dry , just like it has been boiled in water, mixed with vegetables and sause. The desserts are very average... Very disappointed.
Celina
very good food, love the fish and sweet potato chips. But very slow as well. we waited 35min for lunch. If you in a hurry then better go at dinner time.
Taste Test - Food.Life
Wedding anniversary dinner at Heirloom - food was good but nothing amazing, lots of Asian inspired flavours. Unfortunately my fish had two bones left in it. Service was just so with a little bit on the slow side with pouring water. Felt like I was sitting in the Qantas club lounge rather than a restaurant (not sure if good or bad?). A good experience overall, I'm giving them a 3.5/5
Le Grand Chef
I was keen to try paleo food cooked professionally and what no better way than at Heirloom By Pete Evans.<br/><br/>The dressing on the salads had lots of flavour.<br/><br/>The star dish of the evening was the beef fillet with bone marrow. The knife cut through the steak as if it were butter.
THE ILLUSIVE FEMME
Beautiful paleo food from MKR's Pete Evans' recipe book. The restaurant is a part of Fraser Suite's and it is modern eatery with a healthy menu fit for any palette. Tried the crispy roasted barramundi fillet with sweet potato puree, coconut and lime sauce. The fish was beautifully cooked and skin was delish and crisp. Well seasoned and very nice. The coconut and lime sauce was so luxe - I probably could have licked the plate! YUM. We also tried the Sweet Potato fries with Chipotle Mayo - oh my. The chips were crispy and sweet, loved it! Tried a Dessert Plate to share ($20) - yum ! I'd totally visit again in a heartbeat and I walked out feeling full and satisfied but not TOO full.
Queen Of Bad Timing
Neither of us could take our eyes off the 200 gram Blackwood Valley 100% grass fed beef fillet with bone marrow, parsley and hazelnut salad, and red wine jus ($45.00). I actually love a good steak, but I hardly ever eat it because I tend to gravitate more towards vegetarian or seafood options. But when you’re out and about, steak can be a real treat for your tastebuds – especially when it’s cooked properly.
Inexology
I thought they would serve the bone broth in a small bowl but the portion that I received was quite big. The broth was really tasty and it contained a lot of diced beef along with some vegetables. This dish was so heart-warming and is a perfect entrée choice for winter or if you're looking for something comforting.<br/><br/>Hubby ordered the salmon tartare with crispy nori, avocado, salmon roe and kimchi. The combination of salty crunchy nori really mixed well with the sour kimchee and salmon tartare. This dish was really easy to eat and delicious, if only there was a larger version of it.<br/><br/>I was jealous looking at Hubby's glorius puttanesca, chorizo, olive, tomato, capers and mozzarella pizza and I could tell that he really enjoyed it. The menu said that a paleo option was also available with almond base. While there weren't many pizzas to choose from the menu, this was made up by its crunchy base and tasty toppings. While overall it was tasty, hubby mentioned that he couldn't taste the chorizo much.

Firstly the service was below average. It was difficult to order right from the drinks. Then, we had called in advance to ask if they had a good vegetarian menu. They had one salad and the rest were side dishes. I then ended up ordering the baby beet salad and a side of sweet potato fries. Both of which were nice but not awesome. My husband ordered the blackwwod valley beef. He said the bone marrow delicious and the steak was OK. Definitely not a $45 steak but OK. We didn't bother with dessert as we didn't want to risk disappointment. All in all it was OK. Glad we came to experience this but I will not be back again.
Shake-N-Bake
Just finished lunch here and was a bit dubious after reading some of the reviews... But was a great meal, food was excellent, portions were Large!!! Had the nasi goreng, was really tasty and filling! My wife had the schnitzel with slaw and it was also very nice! Overall I'd rate it a solid 4.0 and wouldn't hesitate to recommend!

We had lunch at The Heirloom the other day because of Dimmi 50% off offer. It's a spacious modern restaurant inside Fraser Suite building. The were not that busy and only one third tables were filled but we waited quite a while for our food to come when other tables already got theirs (including those came later than us). When our meals came, we're stunned by how tiny the portions were. My friend's mom had the ginger braised short rib of beef with Asian greens and miso dressing. It was the best dish of all three. Ribs was soft and basted with enough sauce. My friend had Blackwood Valley 100% grass fed beef fillet, bone marrow etc2. Beef fillet was small and tasted just okay she said. As for bone marrow, I think it's missing something. LR does bone marrow dish better. I picked roasted barramundi fillet with sweet potato puree, coconut & lime sauce. After waiting so long, I was concerned that I wont be full afterwards because my fish was tiny. However I had to admit that it's a yummy and tasty dish. Fish was cooked nicely and loved the sweet potato puree and coconut lime sauce, punchy. We also ordered sweet potato chips to share. Still got space for dessert, we had the shared dessert plate for two where you get two of every dessert. It's got coconut & pineapple pannacotta, raw raspberry & cashew cheesecake, orange & almond cake and baked chocolate mousse. To be honest we're a little bit confused by it. Some of them didn't look and taste as they should be. The texture of pannacotta wasn't quite right and cheesecake wasn't cheesy enough, very weak. The best of all four was probably the orange & almond cake. Baked chocolate mousse was alright. Service was okay. Our waitress was friendly.

First time visit to Pete Evans Heirloom restaurant at Fraser Suites in East Perth. I’m not familiar with the paleo inspired dishes but I didn’t find them a significant departure from the usual, in fact, they’re more healthy. For entree I had a delicious flavoursome bone broth which took on a slightly sweet Asian influence. The braised beef brisket and veggies were also excellent. I also had a small taste of the pork belly which is amazing. For mains I thoroughly enjoyed a delicious braised beef short rib which was super tender. For dessert I had a raw raspberry and cashew cheesecake which resembled more of a coconut slice type dessert, definitely not cheesecake.  I really enjoyed the experience, their strengths are the entrees and mains, executing delicious dishes, many with Asian flavours. The dishes are quite pricey.

I dined here on a casual Monday night for dinner. I was surprised that there was no mention of paleo even thought much of the menu is paleo. I ordered the chicken schnitzel and this was a large serving of protein which tastes delicious with the slaw. My husband ordered the braised beef ribs and he loved it - the meat was soft and sauce was great. We shared the panna cotta for dessert and this was ok for summer - keen to try the cheesecake or mousse next time.

Food that is crafted from quality local ingredients, sourced by sustainable methods and a contemporary menu that evolves with the seasons. So go the principals guiding The Heirloom. . You may be familiar with a chef named Pete Evans (My Kitchen Rules Celebrity Chef judge, face of Sumo Salad). You may also be familiar with what is known as the paleo diet. After having reached a sort of food enlightenment, Pete Evans transitioned to Paleolithic eating and in turn, cooking. It is therefore no surprise that his recently opened restaurant The Heirloom, based at the Fraser Suites in East Perth, reflects this outlook.
The Urban Bento
Pete Evan's restaurant Heirloom is in Fraser Suites down the causeway end of Adelaide Tce. It looked nicer than expected. The food and service however was below average sadly. The pizza we shared as an entree was good but the mains were significantly lacking flavour. I had the chicken schnitzel with slaw and sriracha mayo and not only was the schnitzel limp but also unseasoned. My partner's lamb was okay but the cauliflower tabbouleh was again lacing in flavour. We finished off the meal with a shared dessert plate for 2 which was a mini selection of the desserts on the menu. I personally thought the desserts were okay but my partner didn't. The best was the orange cake.

My favourite dish is pork Belly - Asian twist with a super crunchy crackling. Beef broth is to die for. Steak and bone marrow is a must try. Prawn salad was refreshing with alot of Asian Tang incorporated into the dish. Overall really good place to dine regularly. Well priced
Zoe Barnard
Really nice good quality meals, a bit small and pricey but very tasty. However would skip the dessert next time as I think desserts should never be paleo and these were very underwhelming compared with the mains :)
Miss Healthy
Amazing, healthy, paleo influenced menu. Very tasty beautiful food. Pleasant staff that went above and beyond to even get me coconut water which wasn't on the menu. Also portions were large for a fine dinning restaurant.

They aint got it.  I've found that good cooks are better at making 'different' foods.  Chefs are trained in particular ways to get flavour, so if the dishes require something different to that the mark gets missed.  This is what has happened here.  We ordered Bouillabaisse and when it came out it was 'deconstructed'.  Deconstructed wasn't on the menu, if it was we wouldn't have ordered it.  Even so it was tasteless.  Everything was stodgy and tasteless really.

Had the grazing menu. Amazing food and service!!!

Lovely place, serving innovative food. Venue: Stylish relaxed bar area and contemporary fitted out restaurant. Nice and quite - unlike a lot of venues in Perth. We were able to enjoy a conversation. <br/><br/>Service: Impeccable! 10/10 <br/>Food: Innovative. Fresh, interesting ingredients. Creatively plated, well prepared, generous serves.

Posted on May 6, 2015 by annettejevans Tucked away in the Fraser Suites at the beginning of Adelaide Tce, it’s a bit tricky locating the Heirloom restaurant. It’s even harder to find a parking spot, and one of my three dining pals overshot the Terrace and ended up on the Causeway. It’s worth persevering though, as our dining experience was well worth the effort. Don’t you love Groupons? The Heirloom ones enabled us to enjoy a superb lunch with a glass of bubbly for only $25 each. That will barely get you a toasted focaccia and a coffee  in Perth in 2015, so this was a particularly amazing deal. Our first course was a generous antipasto plate, comprising fresh figs, pork terrine, mixed meats, olives, grilled eggplant, sundried tomatoes, sauerkraut and crisp pita triangles. There’s your $25 value, on that one plate. We didn’t finish our first plate as we sensibly wanted to leave room for the other courses, and we were glad we did. A little palate cleanser was presented next with watermelon, dragon fruit, goats cheese, pine nuts and dried kalamata olives. Sounds like an unusual combo, but it worked well, with beautiful colours and presentation. On with the big girls plates, starting with crispy skinned barramundi on a bed of subtly flavoured tahini, slivers of fresh sliced fennel and cubes of roasted beetroot. Barramundi is not my favourite fish, but these were delectable fresh fillets, beautifully cooked and presented. The remaining dishes were served together, and the Burmese beef cheeks were a bit hit with my gal pals. Now, I’ve read complaints from other diners about the beef cheeks, but as they are cooked Burmese style, the flavouring is deliberately subtle. None of the robust red wine flavours here, but  simple, slow-cooked, delicately spiced cheeks in a thick sauce. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender. You may or may not know that I don

I won't vote for or against heirloom as I had two seperate meals of varied quality. The breakfast buffet was great, with a good selection of hot and cold foods, as well as decent coffee. Downside was the pizzas for dinner. The spelt bases were not at all appetising, though I'm not sure if we just got a bad batch? Service was great, couldn't fault it.

Average Food, Poor Service, No Atmosphere and High Prices. We had high expectations but none were met. The food was poor and the service was even worse. We had the grazing menu thinking it would allow us to sample a bunch of tasty dishes but all bar one left us disappointed. The amuse bouche (salmon, microgreens & caviar) was nice but everything was downhill after that! The antipasto platter tasted like a selection of cheap day old items from a supermarket deli. The sauce with the beef cheeks was desperately under seasoned, the cauliflower rice and braised vegetables were flavourless and soggy, the fish was very ordinary and the sides with the fish (pomegranate, walnut & fennel salad) just seemed mis-matched and didn't come together at all. Dessert - pistachio balls, raspberry mousse and chocolate balls were all flavourless too. Most plates went back to the kitchen barely eaten.<br/><br/>On top of that, our waiter seemed clueless and distracted. He was confused the whole time, took 20 minutes to get us a water and spilt bubbly all of the table and din't bother to clean up or apologise. Overall, disappointed with our experience at Heirloom, especially given the fine dining price. We will not be going back there.
Tex
Thankfully not all weird and paleo. Had breakfast after staying in the hotel. We were concerned it was going to be all weird paleo chicken feet broth etc. But it's actually fine, if a little bit healthier seeming than your average buffet.

Such potential - Wasted!!. We were excited about coming here as it's advertised as being a 'Pete Evans consulted' restaurant. We are Paleo and were so excited about a fine dining option for us.<br/><br/>There was no atmosphere as we were the only people in there initially (That's not the restaurant's fault though and we can accept this)<br/><br/>Whilst the staff were nice and friendly, they were clueless to what's Paleo. I asked 'Are all the dishes Paleo friendly?' To which they replied, 'Yes, we have Gluten and Dairy Free dishes'. This doesn't make it Paleo!!<br/><br/>We were served Oysters which were warm with a Entree Fork. What the? What happened to the Oyster forks?<br/><br/>Then after paying $40 for a Salmon dish, it was completely dry and overcooked. My lamb dish was ok, but I could have made it at home myself.<br/><br/>Just because food is healthy, doesn't mean it has to lack finesse, technique or flavor. Just check out CNR Kitchen, Solomon's Cafe and Morries Anytime in Margaret River.<br/><br/>All in all, nice idea and has potential, but needs to work on lots of things in order to meet this potential, especially if we have any chance of recommending it or going back. At this stage we won't.
Jo
Loved the food! It's nice to go to a restaurant and eat something relatively healthy but still delicious. Unfortunately the service was mixed: we booked earlier in the day but still had to wait in the bar area for our table to be set, drinks took a bit too long to arrive, no table water was provided until we requested it after being seated for 10 minutes or so; on the other hand I must say despite their shortcomings in terms of table service the staff were very friendly and made us feel extremely welcome. With the prices of some of the mains and the quality of the food I just expected a slightly better level of service, but I will most definitely be back to give them another shot.
Peter Fez
The food was an experience of many different and various but enjoyable flavours which is exactly what we like to sample in these types of restaurants. <br/>The music and ambiance was relaxing and the service was a little mixed to begin with but then the Manager Brice came along and our night to celebrate my wife's birthday was happily complete. We'll be back.

Ambience was chilled. My menu choices were tasty. However the big disappointment was the staff. No wine knowledge, long waits between drinks, placing orders, queries etc. No peppermint in my peppermint tea. No avacado dressing on the avacado salad. It actually appeared as though staff were upset with one another? Heirloom could be so many things but it ended up being a disappointment
Thebarron
Perth foodie. Terrible service. Over rated and over priced food. Hotel itself is tacky would not recommend eating or staying here.
Rebecca
Great menu, presented well, but service from both the kitchen and front of house were slow and ruined the whole experience. Will be a destination once the service improves
Paul
Promising start. Reading the other reviews here I can see that Heirloom has had some teething troubles, but our experience was different. My partner and I had dinner on a Saturday night and were both pleasantly surprised. The service was enthusiastic and polite, even though they were training up a new member of staff on the night.<br/><br/>We both have dietary requirements that are not well served in Perth, she is gluten intolerant and I am vegetarian so we were both quite excited to try the food here. Her sweetcorn soup entree and spaghetti with parsnip instead of pasta main were both delicious. My watermelon salad entree was fresh but perhaps a bit too light on flavour whilst my veg tagine main was good but not especially noteworthy.<br/><br/>My main criticism would be that the vegetarian options were few and uninspiring compared to the meat/seafood choices, but this is a criticism that could be levelled at many Perth restaurants. Since Heirloom does not claim to be vegetarian it would be unfair to judge it solely on that. For omnivores who prefer gluten/dairy free food it really pulls out all the stops, with a wide range of well thought out dishes. We are looking forward to coming back for the new season's menu.
Monique
Entrees and mains quite tasty and healthy. Bread given at the start seemed dry like it had been sitting there a while. Desserts all tasted too strongly of honey (we had a large table so I was able to try a few different ones). No one enjoyed their desserts and many of us are Paleo so it was not just because they were healthy. Wait staff terrible except for Kaylee. Would not go back, there is no atmosphere and staff seemed like they had never worked in hospitality before. Such a shame as Perth really needed a good healthy restaurant like this. Prices were reasonable.
MarsBar
Good food, service nonexistent.. My family went for a meal on a Saturday night and we had to wait to be seated, then wait a very long time to actually order, then wait even longer to receive our orders. It was a real hassle to even get any of the staffs' attention. The one exception was Ashleigh who made us feel welcome and was the only member of staff to pay any attention to us. It was a real shame because the food was delicious for the most part. Hopefully they can learn from this mistake and increase the number of staff on the floor.
