Review Garum By Guy Grossi - Perth

Went there for a drink with some bar snacks, the quality of the food is average, duck liver was nice. They have happy hours between 4:30 to 6pm, half price drinks (some, not all) and bar snacks. The bar snack is bit pricy if not half priced. It is nice place for having a drink after work and staff are friendly.

Meal started off good with the sourdough which was a nice touch given we were all pretty hungry on arrival. Ordered the duck liver pate as an appetiser, which was really good! The wait for mains after was around 30 minutes. Ordered the cacio e pepe ($24) and clam and crab tagliolini ($28). Portions were extremely small for the price and pasta was done slightly under al dente and there wasn’t any crab in the tagliolini at all either. Clams were underdone and most of all, the pasta was bland and disappointing. One of us had been here before and highly recommended this place to visit. She commented that it never used to taste this bland. Informed the staff of this in case it was a genuine mistake on the restaurant’s part and were asked if we wanted to order more food instead. No real care for our feedback and no efforts made to clarify the situation. Waited another 35 minutes for our dessert even though this was ordered at the start of the meal. Tiramisu ($18) was alright but the mille feuille ($16) was dry and the ratio of cream to pastry was poor. Huge waste of money. Waited another 15 minutes and had to ask staff twice for the bill. Extremely disappointing. Definitely would not recommend for a nice dinner out.

Lovely ambience, great tasting food and friendly, helpful and professional staff. Will come here again with the family. Oh! And the semifreddo was delicious!

Food is delicious and staff is very friendly. I’d only have to say that some portions seem too small. It just depends on what you order. And we waited for our food for quite a while. Also, the room is a bit noisy, which is not very suitable if you want to have a romantic or a business dinner. Overall, I’d say that it’s a nice place and worth a visit.

Fantastic experience. Staff were wonderful and the food delicious. Being italian I normally find italian resturants food not quite right or what I expect, not here, It was dead on balls what I like and expected. Lovely building. Will go again for sure.

Beautiful setting but very intimate with other guests, could hear their conversations more than our own. Food was sensational, a must try! We did get someone else's food at one point and ours kept going to the table next to us; staff probably need to learn the table numbers but cannot fault the food and the lady that took our orders.

We had a dinner at here yesterday for celebrating our wedding anniversary. Foods were delicious and room was quite big and vibe was fantastic. Also, we were so touched by a service from a staff. He was so friendly and made our day. For sure, we will visit here again!

We came for dinner on Wednesday evening at 6pm, unfortunately I forgot the waitresses name who took care of us but she was phenomenal, her service was faultless and anything we asked for she rushed off immediately to get for us. We also asked if we could have a sneak peak at the private dining room before we left and she organised it with the manager for us. A really lovely girl and a great worker you have there! Secondly, the food was amazing! Wasn’t a single thing we could fault and we’ll definitely be booking here again for dinner and our private function.

Garum is the place that everybody is talking about in Perth. Celebrated Aussie Italian chef Guy Grossi, famous for his cook books, appearances on Masterchef, and fine Melbourne osterias, has opened this Roman restaurant in Perth at the Westin. Everything is faithfully Roman, including the wine list where the wines are listed in order of colour. We chose a ‘yellow’ wine to start – a Flametree chardonnay from Denmark, WA. This was a fine chardonnay with pear and melon notes and lovely subtle oak backdrop – the sommelier here knows their chardonnay.

Came here for dinner with a large group of people. Service was lovely and chef was accommodating to my dietary needs and general fussiness. Great atmosphere. Plenty of seating. Everyone was disappointed with their pasta dishes- portions of duck ravioli were small despite ordering the larger size and the pasta apparently tasted undercooked according to the 7 people that ordered pasta (I couldn’t try as coeliac). Worth a visit- you won’t leave hungry as there is plenty of free bread to fill you up.

This was a say excuse for a restaurant in a 5 star hotel. The service was slow, when the waiters brought out food, they didn’t even notice the empty plates from entrees and had to be asked to remove the plate even though there wasn’t enough room on the table. Water glasses not refilled, sparkling water ordered never arrived but was charged for a bottle. The steak was tough, chewy and not flavoursome at all. First time I have been to a fine dining venue and left half the food on the plate. The waiters didn’t even bothered to ask how the food was, I guess it was obvious. I would be surprised if these guys are still here in a years time. If you want a nice meal goto wildflower or hearth instead. You will pay the same but you won’t feel ripped off.

Food - amazing!<br/><br/>Sourdough bread is to die for.<br/><br/>Entrees, although a touch small, were presented well and tasted delicious. (Quail and kingfish) <br/><br/>Wonderful to have a proper cacio pepe!! Closest I’ve had to Rome. Carcioncini was sooooooo good! <br/><br/>Mains - the lamb is probably the best I’ve tasted in a long time. Porchetta was also delicious.<br/><br/>Service was a tad disjointed at times but apart from that the kitchen ran so smoothly and our food experience was second to none.<br/><br/>Highly recommend

Came here for a work lunch and got the 2 course special. An expensive lunch option, but a beautiful interior and atmosphere. A nice ‘one-off’ to try. Food was lovely and very light - I wouldn’t recommend if you’re after something more filling and hearty.

Have been twice. Good authentic food. Lovely venue. Saw Guy Grossi walk past but he didn’t acknowledge any diners. A nod would’ve been nice. Anyway will return again.

Tables far to close together.<br/>Wine mak ups the highest I have seen in Australia, particularly the Barolo with big big multiple of bottle shop price.

Pasta was very fresh! We love the breakfast buffet here as it’s filled up with Italian delicacies as opposed to intl/american foods

I celebrated my 42nd birthday at Garum.<br/>They had prepared a special Birthday card, handwritten by someone in the team to thank me for choosing Garum for my birthday, which I thought was a nice touch.<br/>The dining room is beautiful. Very high ceiling. It looks like an old church has been converted into this immense dining space. The high ceiling effect made it a little noisy at times.<br/>The waiting staff was great. My waitress acknowledged it was my birthday and thanked me again. She was very knowledgeable about the menu. She was from Argentina, so we discussed her favourite dishes on the menu.<br/>The menu reminded me of being in Rome. Their signature dish is Cacio e Pepe!<br/>I had 1/2 dozen oysters as an entrée. It was served with a dill and shallots vinaigrette which tasted divine. I’m sure they could have taken the peeps out of the lemon... that sort of lack of attention to detail in a fine dining restaurant is a big mistake.<br/>For main, I ordered the rabbit. OMG! That was beautiful. It was served in an olive and onion broth, just like my grandmother would have done it. Fabulous!<br/>For dessert, I treated myself to the Tiramisu. Very nice. Well portioned, fluffy mascarpone, savoiardi soaked in coffee just the right amount. Perfect!<br/>As you can tell, I had a great time.
Queen Of Food
After being seated by the host we waiting about 15 mins before we asked a waiter walking past to give us a menu. To begin we were given house bread with a lovely oil and spinach dip - a rather different approach to most restaurants. The kingfish crudo was lovey and fresh and perfectly balanced. The carcioncini was nice however I thought lacked a punch of flavour to make you want more and more. The local fish with capers was well cooked and seasoned. The service thankfully picked up with a lovely waiter providing recommendations and good service. All in all a nice dinner but just lacking that wow factor to make me rush back.

Stunning space and beautifully decorated, great atmosphere with very friendly staff. <br/>Had a chaotic feel with staff all running around frantically. <br/>Food was lovely and well presented, maybe a touch over priced. We were left waiting for 20 minutes to receive our drinks.

Unfortunately didn’t live up to the hype. Service was great, but so efficient we felt rushed. Entree showed up before aperitif and then everything landed on the table moments after ordering. The food was overpriced, over seasoned, over complicated and lacking true flavour. We had the $56 lamb special of the day and it was 3 cutlets... lovely atmosphere and staff though.
Connie
Amazing food. Loved the complimentary bread and pesto - wish I could get that recipe - delish. Staff was so friendly and helpful.

Walking into Garum you are greeted with a grand, spacious interior with beautiful high ceilings & a feeling that you may have been transported to a restaurant in Melbourne. Friendly staff promptly greeted & seated us and we opted to try their 3 course ‘Love Italy’ menu. Started with the Vitello tonnato entree (ok), followed by Snapper on pearl couscous (delicious), and ending with a chocolate & hazelnut torte (very nice). Hot, house made bread was included as well as a glass of wine and coffee/tea - good value at $49 (do not expect big portions however). Good overall dining experience, will definitely be back to try their a la carte menu.

Highlights : <br/><br/>Decor and architectural features of dining room. <br/><br/>Simple yet elegant tableware. <br/><br/>Romanesque/Lazio menu with traditional elements.<br/><br/>The bread (yum)<br/><br/>Lowlights: <br/><br/>Pasta arrived stone cold, sent back and then had to watch my table eat there mains. Oddly in these situations when the food arrives hot it's never the same, somewhat tarnished.<br/><br/>What was kitchen thinking by hiding the protein (ocky) with a random piece of toast.<br/><br/>The journey to the rest rooms<br/><br/>A tad overpriced.

Garum is a beautiful venue and the staff are incredible.  The evening started off really well with 2 flawless entrees. I highly recommend the Octopus and the Scallop. Unfortunately the evening took a dive when my Carbonara arrived. Perhaps it was a poor ordering choice on my behalf but it was definitely underwhelming and lacked seasoning. To finish we had the semifreddo which I didn't enjoy as much as I did the chocolate mousse which was an accompaniment. Overall I did enjoy my experience and everyone went above and beyond to make my birthday a special one.

Amazing ambience and the freshness within the pasta and the sauces are my highlights. Bit on the pricier side for the portion sizes, but the quality, presentation, service and ambience justify the extra costs.

The 49 dollars 3 courses lunch includes wine and coffee! Food were delicious with good flavour... will defiantly go again for a la carte menu

Took my partner for a date night out to Garum after weeks of anticipation as we had heard so much about Garum.<br/><br/>The experience however was sadly a let down, and as this was my first (and probably last) time, I cannot say for certain that their standard is consistently low, but it was for me.<br/><br/>FOOD:<br/><br/>We ordered 1 entrée ($20), 2 pasta dishes ($28 each), and 2 Main dishes ($45 each), as well as 2 glasses of wine.<br/><br/>Out of all that was ordered, the only thing remotely palatable was the entrée, and complimentary bread, I know, the irony. Wines were nicely filled up in large wine glasses which helped tone down this review.<br/><br/>Every hot dish was served lukewarm, if not cold. The carbonara was "sandy" as the percorino had not been fully incorporated into the dish, their tortelli was passable, but very room temp.<br/><br/>Their Fish of the day dish, a Red emperor, came with nothing but that and two mussels on the side, with the entire fillet overcooked and dry except for a 2cm part in the middle. If all that is going to be served is literally a fish fillet as the default star of the show, one would imagine some effort would be put in to not stuff that up.<br/><br/>Lastly, the biggest let down of the night was the Rabbit stew.<br/><br/>The rabbit stew was simply insulting. It was like someone had put Campbell's vegetable stock with a few pieces of carrot and celery and chucked a few leg pieces of unseasoned, over-boiled rabbit in the middle. This dish had to be returned as my fork could hardly even pierce its flesh, and may I remind you that this dish was $45?<br/><br/>It was such a sad dinner knowing every creature on that table was made into food unworthy of its death.<br/><br/>The service was great however, and when the rabbit was returned, they did not charge us for it.<br/><br/>We had no confidence to try their dessert because I really didn't feel like spending another $20 of my hard earned money on potential disappointment.<br/><br/>We gave feedback to the server who was apologetic but we told him not to worry as it wasn't his fault but to just pass the message on to the kitchen.<br/><br/>I also wrote a genuine email to their manager to let them know that the standard of food served that night was not acceptable, and all I got back was simply a "sorry you've had a bad experience, we hope you give us a try next time."<br/><br/>It was a disappointing response but made the standard of food also unsurprising as there was no sincerity in trying to amend any issues brought up or explanation as to why they were falling short on that day itself. It leaves a terrible taste in our mouths (pun intended) after spending nearly $200 on dinner.<br/><br/>Unfortunately Garum has proved yet another point, that our "fine dining" is sorely sub-par compared to our eastern and international counterparts especially with the price tag attached to it.<br/><br/>I hope this establishments takes on feedback, as it has so much potential to be a gem in our city, with such lovely architecture and ambience, (although pop music was not a great choice of music for a fine dining restaurant may I add).<br/><br/>Will not be going back there again in the near future.

Whilst the venue is beautiful, the service is amazing, the food is delicious, the part where this Garum doesnt get 5 stars is the portions. While I appreciate that this is a fine dining restraunt I think maube 15-20% more pasta needs to be added in order to not feel insulted when the food arrives. I've been here twice and i was upset the second time with ordering the most expensive pasta which is the crab meat raviolis and only having 5 pieces. My boyfriend ordered this and he is a 95kg man who just seemed really disappointed to recieve such a tiny meal.
Queen Of Bad Timing
The Roman-style cooking here is a nice take on Italian cuisine, and what I particularly like is that they highlight Western Australian produce while keeping true to their recipes and techniques.<br/><br/>Our first shared entree – fresh figs with cured meat and parmesan was a real treat. It’s the simple things in life that can often pack a punch, and I could have happily eaten this all day. Salty, sweet and just a little sour.<br/><br/>It was in good company with the quaglia, which is quail with honey, garum, fennel, currants and pine nuts ($22.00). I’ve had this dish before at Garum, and it really is a must order in my opinion. Cooked perfectly, with the centre of the bird rosy, it was bang full of flavour and had a really satisfying char on the skin.

Garum, Roman fish sauce made by salting and fermenting fish in small clay jugs or vessels, was used commonly throughout ancient Roman cooking. This Roman osteria is a collaboration between Guy Grossi and The Westin Perth, housed in the historic Hibernian Hall in Perth City’s East End. Our menu, delivered by head chef Mario Di Natale, focuses on both these ancient Roman techniques and modern roman classics in a modern and relaxed environment.

During my annual visit to Perth, I discovered that there was a Guy Grossi restaurant and was keen to make a trip to the Perth CBD to try it out. Garum focuses on Roman-style cooking with handmade pasta and ancient Roman techniques. After we were seated, we were asked whether we wanted tap, still or sparkling water, and provided with the menu for the day. Our waitress was happy to explain the menu to us and was very knowledgeable about each dish. It was actually a really tough choice to decide on what to eat!
Just Another Foodie
We decided to go to Garum to celebrate our wedding anniversary (we were staying at the Westin anyway). Initially we were a little disappointed. While the venue is beautiful it is really noisy and the tables are quite close together, as in you can hear the conversation on the next door table. We spotted some better spaced tables over near the bar (which didn't have anyone at it)  and asked to move there. The staff were really obliging and moved us without any fuss at all. Actually, our waitress was fantastic the whole evening. She really knew the menu and was really attentive with filling our water and wine glasses and checking in to see if we wanted anything.   For entrees we shared the crudo kingfish (as in cold cooked) which was really light and we both loved the combination of lemon and dill. It was a small serve though and we both felt it could have been double in size. We then shared the zucchini flowers which were just delightful.  The zucchini was perfectly tender and the stuffing in the flower creamy and luscious with just a hint of maybe white anchovy and herbs.  The size if this entree was much better but I'd still go back for me.  For mains my partner had the lamb shoulder and I had the slow roasted pork which was the special for the night. Both meals were really tender and full of flavour. We kept swapping bites because we couldn't decide which was the best. We ordered sides of rosemary potatoes (loads of garlic and rosemary, nice and crisp on the outside and soft and tender on the inside) and the cos salad (which is literally just cos lettuce with just the right amount of dressing).  For dessert I had the tiramisu which was seriously the lightest, creamiest tiramisu I've ever had the pleasure of eating.  Could have been a little bit heavier on the coffee maybe but I really love my coffee so that is definitely a personal taste thing.  My partner a pear tart which was deliciously light and moist. He chose that mainly because he wanted to try the olive oil ice-cream which didn't even have a hint of olive oil taste (I'm not sure why we expected it would).  Oh, and the complimentary bread came with a really nice herby ricotta spread and olive oil. It was seriously good bread too.  The wine list is really extensive which is good but we found there weren't anywhere near enough affordable choices by the bottle (the prices were $50 and above).  Having said that there was plenty on offer by the glass and the glass prices were pretty much the same as everywhere in Perth. They could expand their selection of dessert wines though to include some chilled varieties.  Overall we really enjoyed our experience at Garum and would head back there again.

Went to Garum on a Saturday night. Very efficient and friendly service by our waiter. We ordered the pickled ox tongue and the octopus for entree.  The most tender octopus I've ever had in Perth and the ox tongue was amazing, melt in your mouth delicious. The pasta mains were very good and the desserts of Tiramisu (the best we've had in Perth) and the poached peach were fantastic.  Great atmosphere and we could see what was being cooked in the very calm open kitchen. Would definitely come back here, although a little pricey but when we get good food in Perth, it's worth it to go back.

We went here for my birthday, I should say that the entrees were amazing , I tried one artisanal soda and the pork, the pork was very greasy and the potato's very dry. My partner got the steak and was amazing , if I return to this place I'll they the beef or the pasta instead. Prices are very high for the food.

Great place fantastic food accompanied by great service.<br/>The only thing thats missing for this type of place are white cloth‘s on the tables.<br/>That would give it the 5th star for me.<br/><br/>Just had an espresso.<br/>I am a espresso lover. This one just has too much acid. Sorry guys. I know the guys in southern Italy like it like this but I just prefer the northern style ;)

Went to Garum for the first time for a family Christmas Eve celebration. Our party numbered 10 and ordered off a set menu that provided 3 options for each course. <br/>Every dish came out in a timely manner and showed a consistent high level of excellence and authenticity. The wine list offered ample choice to complement the fine food. <br/>We were looked after by friendly staff who were very attentive without being pushy and who were very generous with the delicious bread that is made on the premises. The head waitress in particular was very helpful. She had excellent knowledge of the menu and was able to explain the elements of each dish in great detail. <br/>All these aspects combined to provide us all with a fun night and a very enjoyable dining experience. We will definitely be calling in again.

Friendly customer service! The food was ok but yes a little pricey, good for a night out with friends in the open environment concept. Kitchen was all out and you can see your meal being prepared

I had not heard great things about Garum.<br/><br/>Slow service, average food and an air of superiority had been conveyed to me when I told people I’d booked.<br/><br/>I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, the setting is beautiful, the food shows some good skill, but the service lacked initiative.<br/><br/>For example, 4 slices of bread for three people. Or not advising us there are two zucchini flowers when 3 of us are sharing.<br/><br/>We also fell into the age old trap of asking for “a couple more minutes” to select our meal... and then struggling to get a waiter for a further ten minutes.<br/><br/>But the reason for our delay is that the menu selection is actually very good. A little bit of culinary knowledge is required to decipher the menu, but the waitress was knowledgeable enough to anticipate and answer our queries.<br/><br/>Good wine list too, although I thought it more cutesy than original to order in according to colour (there is a reason it’s collectively referred to red vs white wine).<br/><br/>Definitely a good corporate lunch venue.
Fly Away Bird
It was good but the service was way too overbearing. For a Sunday lunch, we arrived at 1pm and were out of there by 2.15pm. Was hoping to relax but everything happened too quick. We had 5-6 different waitstaff. It’s good to receive good service but this was just a bit too much. Please relax your service a bit otherwise I don’t think we’ll be back. Food was fine. Would have enjoyed more if we weren’t approached several times during each dish. NB. Sounds weird bitching that service was too good.

My wife and I and an excellent night here. Beautiful building in an historic part of Perth amongst the Hibernian Place precinct. Service was impeccable. Food was wonderful. All authentic roman cuisine, simple but tasty. No spag bog or pizza here. Excellent drink list with most beer and wine from WA. Dessert and coffee delicious. We'll be back, highly recommended!

Was such a privilege to have dinner at the Garum Voyager Estate collaboration. Greeted with smiles from everyone. Canapes and champagne to start. Absolutely love the cheese arancinis! Everything we had paired well with the wines and they were very accomodating to my food requirements. Love the freshly baked bread they served as appetiser! Definitely coming back for their regular menu!<br/>
TheBearReview
I expect so much from Garum, after reading about it in the Qantas magazine and hearing everyone talk about this new restaurant like it is the new prince of the Perth food scene. Certainly the crowd on the Wednesday night seemed robust and excited enough. The menu looks promising and a fairly healthy wine list to much. <br/><br/>I ordered the Crudo, it is a tuna beetroot and some lemony compote and sorrel. Cannot taste the tuna for the life of me as it was completely overwhelmed by all the other flavours. What a waste. Next up was the vongole pasta, which I thought at $28 an absolute steal in a place like this. But I have never seen smaller clams in my life. They might actually be frozen as there was zero flavour. The pasta was clearly handmade and cooked very well but essentially I felt like I was eating pasta with garlic and parsley, which for $28 is an absolute ripper off.<br/><br/>Despite all that, It was still lovely evening, and although the food did not hitting the high note, it was good enough. Perhaps it was made buoyant by the crowd - I would come back and eat here again - If i was staying at the Westin, which by the way is an excellent hotel even though the concierge has no idea. But that is for another forum.
Love Eating Out
Beautiful venue and food.<br/>We went on a Sunday night to celebrate our anniversary and staff had kindly written a card for us and was on the table.  The complimentary bread was sooo good we bought a loaf and took it home.  We had the vongole pasta and the pork ragu and both were delicious.<br/>The deserts was also a winner - the panacotta and italian doughnuts.<br/>Would definitely recommend it.

didn't really like it to be honest, overall experience was alright. for the prices we were paying it wasn't great. did quite enjoy the bread and the pasta, service was good too but after that the rest of the evening was kind of...underwhelming. the prices for the main dishes were insanely high, the portions however minuscule, dessert was nothing to rave about either. to sum it up, i've had much much better italian, for much much less.

Had Dinner on the 24th , venue was impressive, service was relatively good , pasta was disappointing ! Entree Salumi was excellent , Dessert was good , Pasta was tough and chewy, accompanying sauce was insufficient for dish !

I had to go to that place to find out for myself! A bit posh for my taste and the food concept is a bit different from what I’m usually used to when it comes to Italian food. The food was very good, can’t deny that. However, we were not explained as well as I would have liked to about the food. I was really expecting a good explanation about the food and what to expect since it’s a new restaurant. But we did not get any of that. We ordered polenta and pepperoni as entrees for pepperoni expecting what we know as pepperoni (but it was actually capsicum so we got a bit confused) and for polenta well the usual polenta blocks you normally get. While they were really tasty, we would have liked to be told about it. For the mains, we got the pork ragú pasta and the carbonara. Do not expect to find chunks of any meat in the pasta as you would in any other Italian restaurant. The pasta tastes like pork for instance but there are no pieces of pork in it. Very delicious though. The prosecco was fabulous, too.

Lovely renovated space, high ceilings and modern features which is the new cool of old and new. Had a pleasant lunch and really enjoyed it overall although the service was slow at times as I was in desperate need for drinks to be flowy.<br/>Starters really great, pepperoni (btw which is not meat) was so delicious with the goat cheese and the crunchy bits. Pasta wise you can't go wrong with the Pork ragu. This is the type of pasta that I will have over and over again. Now the Carbonara I was a little "ummmm" about, if you like el dente and salty then this might be your thing.<br/>Great classic negronis and just a comfy old but new space.
Chris
Had a beautiful pasta dish with a glass of red. Was a very busy Friday night when we arrived at 9pm. We were seated, but without menus that took around 10 mins to arrive.<br/><br/>Staff were friendly and food was great. I suggest making a booking if you go peak times
Phubu7
Started with the octopus for entree, it was cooked well. The main course was the pasta with clams. Hands down the best pasta I’ve ever had and well worth the price. Then finished with Italian donuts, it was alright. Will come back just for the pasta!

After reading a news report on Perth restaurants going out of Buisness, will this place be the next?<br/>What a joke! Turned up for breakfast and stood at the entrance for several minutes waiting for someone to seat us then given menus and after 10 minutes I had to walk around and find someone to come and take our order. Even though there were only 3 other people dining, I waited a good 20 minutes for 2 pieces of half buttered bread with one tiny egg on each. That was it!!! Could have made a substantially more tasty and visually pleasing dish at home with minimal effort.<br/>EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING
Bissi
The cacio e pepe pasta I had at Garum was one of the best ones I have tasted. And I am Italian. The pasta was al dente and the sauce very tasty and traditional. A bit too pricey for a pasta dish. <br/>The ambient is beautiful, the kitchen is open but not noisy. <br/>Went back to try to have breakfast, but we were told they do not accept walk-in clients, at least not yet. They should be more clear, about this policy, on their website. I have spotted a long queue of hotel clients waiting to be seated (and I would have not be happy to be one of them, having to wait so long to have breakfast at the hotel I have just spent the night at).

This is new and the service shows this as the people are still learning to work together. Great atmosphere, lovely old building, nicely organised sections, open kitchen etc.<br/><br/>Food was nicely prepared and presented. Somewhat plain, not overly spiced or salted.<br/><br/>Wine list and bar well stocked. Give it a crack, ok value for money.
Cris🇮🇹
I’m italian and I do recommend this place. Architecture, service and food are amazing! Vongole pasta was delicious, perfect balance of taste. The combination of flavors give to pasta an amazing sea taste even if apparently there is no sauce, that’s how is supposed to be served! Octopus and Tiramisù dishes were a good choice. I will come back!

We tried to book dinner on a weekend but could only get late booking for weeks ahead so decided on a Wednesday night. The building is gorgeous and the high ceilings and interior lovely. They have done a wonderful job. We booked for two people but were taken to a table for 3 and the waitress filled 3 water glasses. Ha whatever no biggie. Our main waitress was a lovely French girl but seemed inconsistent as did the rest of the staff. They were very good at refilling my wine glass from our bottle but continued to ignore my empty water glass and I had to ask a couple of times for a refill. Once we asked for the bill we waited ages to give payment. The staff are friendly but they don't seem to be in sync and a bit all over the place. Hubby and I shared three entrees - octopus, crudo kingfish and salumi. The octopus was the stand out even though I don't like olives or capers! It was so soft and melted in my mouth. The meats were very thinly sliced and tasty but the kingfish was a bit of a let down. It was ok but I've had better - all I could taste was the oil it was soaked in. We then shared the carbonara and cacio e pepe - both good but unfortunately not great. I expected better. We have been to Italy a few times, including Rome twice and love our pasta but this was a bit of a let down. We've had better that's for sure. Hubby had the donuts for dessert which he enjoyed but I thought they lacked flavour and a bit stodgy. So over all it was a pleasant experience but I left bit disappointed as had expected better.

First, the trail blazing Brookfield Place, a hub of cool eateries and bars arrived in the CBD. Then Perth was positively spoiled with the State Buildings dining precinct. Now, Hibernian Place has opened in the city’s east end. Here, the stunning five star Westin Hotel seems to have sprung up out of nowhere and with it has brought a whole host of trendy restaurants and bars.
Aaron
A beautiful building with an excellent fit out which allows diners to see straight in to the busy working kitchen. The layout and lighting creates a lovely ambience although the tables of four did look a little cramped for space. Lucky for us we got a last minute booking. We came in a large group which also meant we could try a number of the dishes on the menu. The highlight was definitely the octopus. It was tender and flavourful. Beyond that the food was well cooking but lacked creativity and was rather plain. We had a nice evening however when you are paying premium prices it is fair to expect exceptional food. Sadly for Garum this wasn't the case. Look elsewhere.

We've decided to go try out the new restaurant in Perth CBD which is located in the vicinity of The Westin Hotel. <br/>When we arrived at the restaurant we were a bit early hence we wanted to check if we can go in early to get a seat. The waitress told us that we can either sit at the bar or alternatively sit outside in the cafe. <br/>So we sat at the cafe and waited until 6 pm and go to the restaurant.<br/>When we were seated at the table, the waiter we had explained the menu and brought us the bread. The complimentary bread was nice warm outside but icy cold inside. I asked for a replacement of warm bread. When the bread came out again it was cold. <br/>We ordered for the mains pasta carbonara, vongole pasta and oxtail. <br/>The oxtail dish was very amazing! I strongly recommend trying this dish. <br/>The only entree we ordered was the quail. The pasta was cold when it was served on our table. We also ordered dessert, Globi doughnuts and Mela Cotogna. <br/>My conclusion of this restaurant was the food was average.
Truth Be Told Australia
Ambiance is beautiful, warm and very cool. Service was ok, not super fast . 4 of us on a Thursday lunch , we started with a few entree dishes and all were exceptional, standout was the cauliflower dish. I had the pasta with clams for main , it was a bit too salty, mum had the lamb and she loved it . S had the pasta and that was underdone and average, and J had they ravioli, and that too was underdone around the edges . Considering its Italian the pasta dishes for us were not the highlight unfortunately. The bread was amazing , and when we did mention our problem with the pasta the manager or head waiter could not have been more kind and tried to give a dessert but we were full. I would recommend and return a little further down the track. Nice to see the management care though!! <br/>
Yo
The food at Garum was incredible.. everything was so fresh and full of flavour. The service was also very good, staff were always attentive. The restaurant has an awesome vibe, and is the perfect place for date!
