I had the 200 gram beef scotch fillet with green pepper jus and buttered medley of vegies for dinner and the continental breakfast the next morning. Both were very nice! The staff were friendly and attentive too. Would recommend if staying at the Mantra on Murray!
We had a lovely evening at the society bar and kitchen on Saturday night with our friends. Our entrees were very nicely presented and very tasty. I had the duck breast for the entree and my husband had and friends and had the crocodile spring rolls. Three of us had the barramundi which were very tasty nicely presented and the other serve was the mushroom risotto again was very tasty and quite plentiful maybe a bit too big.
So yes we would recommend this restaurant.
A place that does traditional breakfast packages a la room service style. Fabulous. I had the continental brekkie with all the trimmings and enjoyed it immensely
Had lunch across the road at Society Bar & Kitchen, inside the Mantra on Murray Hotel. They have a standard menu but also offer an express lunch option of 2 courses for $19, with lots to choose from under each course. I chose the confit duck in brik pastry for entree and the cajun shrimp tortilla for mains. I really loved the confit duck which was absolutely amazing! Such delicious succulent tender and well flavour duck encased by a delicious crunchy pastry. I relished each bite. We were told the tortilla is filling and it certainly was a generous serve. I like the light crunch from the tortilla and pretty tasty filling. I didn’t care too much for the shrimp though. The tortilla wasn’t too bad but no match for the duck. Several people at the table chose the steak sandwich and by all reports it was really tasty and enjoyed by all. If you’re after a quick and relatively cheap meal which is still tasty, has good service, and is quiet and relaxing, stopping by here isn’t a bad choice.
Visited last Friday to eat before seeing a Play at 8. Whilst Murray Street was noisy as, Society Bar had a quiet, relaxed atmosphere, overlooking it thru the dining window. We had pre-booked but it wasn't busy. Waiting staff were friendly and attentive. Mains were reasonable but my steak was overcooked but still tender. Wine list small but we still managed to find wines to our liking. Dessert was excellent and above expectations. As it was just after 7 we decided to have tea & coffee but I was advised the coffee machine had been turned off!! I think the look on my face suggested they should turn it on again which they did. Overall not a bad experience and value for money with Entertainment Card. Would go there again. Dean K
Best food in Melbourne (and great, liberty loving owners).
I called in there with my FB so he could use the toilet. From all reports they were wonderfully clean and would rush back again anytime
The Manager Anu has been great to us over the last 3 days. Thanks !!
