If you are looking for a touch of spice in your life, then you should look no further than Chilli Panda, in Newcastle Street, the home in Perth of the spicy cuisine of Hunan – the birthplace of Chairman Mao, and particularly well known for the extensive use of chill, garlic and shallots. It has a spare fit out – untreated concrete walls, adorned with stylised Chinese prints, wooden screens with meld mesh inserts, and polished concrete floors.
Like what the name of the restaurant suggest, the food here is plenty o spicy! So u have been warned! But don’t be scared, you can adjust the level of spiciness and of course they do sell some non-spicy items. Despite not good at handling super spicy food (i ordered lower level of spiciness of course) the food here is really good! i even enjoyed their brusselsprout! There is plenty to enjoy here. I also like the ambiance, the large table, the large space - you totally would not expect this as the store might seem to be small from the outside!
The food at Chilli Panda is so wonderfully, awesomely, ring-of-fire spicy that it keeps you going back for more. My faves are the hunan style cold noodles, stirfried green beans with dry chilli, stirfried pork with chilli and fried egg, and the salted fish black bean fried rice. As I write this, my mouth has started watering.
The reason they're not getting five stars is because it's always so cold in there (even while your mouth is burning so good), and the hotpot chicken I ordered last time I visited was so tough, so dry and so awful.
The fir chicken is the best ever, so tender. If you like pork instestines, this is only place you need to try in Perth. Fantastic cauliflower with dry chilli. You will need to find the restaurant very carefully, the sign is too small, easy miss.
It should be the most delicious Chinese restaurant in western Australia. After ordering the spareribs bean skin pot, the taste is very authentic and rich. What a surprise!
My Chinese friend told me that this is one of the best authentic chinese (Szechuan) food in Perth.
And I wasn't disappointed by the food and the service.
The price was reasonable yet the portion was adequate.
The food is strong in pepper and cumin hence it maybe too much for some people.
Will I come back here? Definitely
Chilli panda's food is much similar to the Hunan cuisine, the food is real spicy but also the most delicious food to the chili lover!!!!!!!!
Tasty and authentic Chinese Szechuan food. The dishes they serve are usually oily and spicy, if you are seeking something healthy (less oil, light, gluten free etc.) this restaurant might not be your best option.
I really like coming here for dinner. They have a generous menu and the food is always flavourful. The beef is tender and the portions are decent. There are a few non spicy options available making it suitable for those who can't handle the spice as well. The decor is unique with it's picnic tables and industrial style open kitchen. The smells remind me of the food in China.
Came here to use a $25 for $50 worth of food Groupon deal. The food here did not disappoint me and I’m not sure why the ratings are so low. I really like spicy food so I was looking forward to this place. We got three dishes between two, the famous steamed chicken and chilli sauce aka saliva chicken, stir fried green beans with minced pork and pan fried potatoes with pork. Chicken was tender and the sauce gave it a nice spicy kick - really liked this dish. I liked the green beans with chilli as it was stir fried well but it felt quite greasy and salty after a while. Same with the pan fried potatoes, they were very tasty but the dish was oily in general. Food was served extremely quickly within 5 min. The deal made it really worth it and I’m considering buying another deal to go back again. Worth a try if you love spicy Chinese food.
Our favourite place to have Yunan dishes. Big menu with both spicy and non spicy dishes. Attentive staffs, huge portion and fair prices. Would definitely go back!
Friendly but busy staff. Niice food but a bit too greasy. Spicy not too much, good for non 湖南 people.
Well nice food
Also order beef cooked in oyster oil with rice , we love it , sorry forgot to take a photo
But the noodle in peanut sauce is way too dry and that’s the only food we don’t like it .
good food overall although some dishes can take long to arrive. most of the kitchen staff do not wear masks and outside staff don’t wear masks properly which is a huge danger to everyone. however staff are nice with great manners
Friendly attentive staff, very helpful and patient with us changing from dine in to take away back to dine in etc .. Additionally -- neither customers or staff seemed bothered by the spluttering, watering eyes and mucus dripping nose of a big nosed white freak like me. I can only imagine how painful it would be to observe watching their beloved food be desecrated in such an unholy show of defilement -- they even provided take away containers! Would recommend
They didn’t lie about chilli. Loved it would go again. 🌶🌶🌶
