Review Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King - Perth

After seeing so many great reviews on this place, we decided to give them a try. We must agree, the broth were amazing and delicious 😋 noodles and flavoured oil can be adjusted to our liking as well. Plus they gave complimentary egg & beansprout. This will be our go to place for ramen in the future. Highly recommended 👍 proof of vaccination needed in this restaurant!

Ramen here is pretty good - though it is a bit pricey compared to other ramen places in Perth. Having said that, they do offer complimentary boiled eggs and bean sprout as can be seen in images. Also a great vibe - almost authentic Japanese vibe🍜🍣🍱

One of the best (if not THE best) Tonkotsu ramen places in Perth. The broth is rich and tasty, and all of the toppings are excellent. Love how they allow you to customise your broth strength, spice level and amount of toppings. This does get crowded and it isn't a very large restaurant so come early to avoid having to queue (although the queue moves pretty quick). Tip: go for the "strong" broth option with the "warm" soup temperature - the warm is definitely hot enough!

The BEST ramen in Perth that we had thus far! The broth was rich & full of flavours. The flavoured egg was perfect! Noodle was springy! Everything is PERFECT for us! The beansprouts are very delicious too! It's free flow of hard-boiled eggs & beansprouts btw. There was a queue during our visit. We waited for about 15mins. If u go during peak hours the waiting time would be longer as there isn't alot of seats. Definitely worth the wait for a good ramen isn't it?

I ordered this place at 6:58pm or 6:59pm and the food arrived within less than 3 minutes like 7:02pm, very quick service of food and their hospitality is top notch 👌. Haven't tried the food but it looks amazing and smells delicious. I just finished the meal at 7:22pm AWST and truly enjoyed every bit it taste. So therefore I would highly recommend this place but this place might not be for yourself at each person will be different.

I went there last weekend for the first time with my friend as I saw good review. I ordered special red spicy ramen and I was dissapointed as it was too expensive $22 for 2piece of meat, My friend ordered same one but for regular size but the only difference was there's no seaweed in her bowl. The ramen broth was tasty and the rest together was delicious The staff were too busy to serve so I ended to call them a few time to ask a question There're no other side dish apart from free eggs and bean sprouts. So I'm not sure I would go back at this point

I give 5 stars as this probably one of the generous restaurant around Perth I ever visited, they give free eggs and unlimited bean sprouts that you can take as you like. It might be just a small service but for me I really appreciate it 😊 The Ramen itself is big bowl, we were super full, the soup is rich and you can choose the soup base light, normal or rich same as the toppings etc. Really great lunch 😊

Fresh made to order. Need to show vacs upon entry Less oil, soft noodles, served hot - are my faves Pork broth on point every time Complimentary sprouts and eggs are an added bonus Service great each time

30 mins waiting for dinner time and the waitress is not friendly, just focus on the phone. 10/07/20

What is it about Ramen?

Lying in bed on Saturday morning, I was checking out Facebook and watching New York's "Ramen Shack" do a pop up for one day. The man had taken 5 days to prepare 400 portions of the most perfect Ramen. I was hooked, mesmerised, I needed a Ramen fix.
Where to go? This place had received some great reviews, so I thought, lets go!

It was about 12:30pm on a Saturday and as I walked around Milligan St looking for this place, and not finding it, I saw a group of 4 young Asian guys and thought, Im close! Follow those guys. The restaurant is located in the Melbourne Hotel but on the Hay Street side. A small queue had formed and I knew I had arrived.

From the street the restaurant is lovely and clean and has a nice Japanese aesthetic. I noticed in the reviews many people complaining about the size of the restaurant, but for me it just confirms a closer tie to life in Japan. I could see people greedily gobbling down life giving bowls of Ramen, enjoying their Saturday with a good friend.
Even though I was in the queue for about 30 min it was all part of the experience. In Asia if you want good food, be prepared to line up. After living in China for the best part if a year, you learn to stay in the queue and not try the restaurant next door with NO customers in it. 🤢
So enjoy the queue. I ended up chatting with the four young guys about what was the best choice here and hands down they agreed the original Ramen was the best.

As I was on my own I got seated fairly quickly. This place is not where you bring 10 friends. The best groupings are 1, 2 or 4. But no more than that. They can do 6 but I saw that family wait a long time.
The serving staff were lovely and took their time to explain how to use the little sesame bowl and how to choose my Ramen using the order sheet. I chose the Black Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen special, with everything on the order sheet ticked normal except I wanted my soup hot.
But please note: do not expect your Ramen to come out boiling hot. It wont happen. The Japanese believe that food should be served at the right temperature as flavours are best experienced that way.

My Ramen came out and it looked amazing. Lovely big slices of pork and a gooey egg on top. I tried the soup that had not touched the spicy black oil yet and it was amazing. Lovely and rich. The noodles were perfect and had a great texture. There were complimentary eggs and marinated bean sprouts on the table. I also ordered a hot green tea and this really complimented the meal.

The spicy black oil was nice but a little on the heavy side and if I go again I will just order the original Ramen. The boys were right. 😂

So if you're craving a Ramen, this place wont disappoint. Enjoy the experience of Japans best comfort food, Ramen.
GobbleDok
I must mention that their service was great! We took a small bub, so they made sure if she could be seated secure. Very busy place but gave us enough space.

Ramen was also good. The soup has bold thick flavour. Some may find it is fatty (I ordered 'notmal'). Not milk-like tonkotsu soup. It reminds me the ramen o-san in Sydney.

I definitely go back again.

Just a note for parents with small child:
They don't have a high chair, but provide booster seat. If your bub cannot sit without support, it would be difficult. The place is very tiny, so it would be better to avoid the peak time if you bring in a pram.
Cindy
The ramen is simply delicious and authentic. Many Japanese flocked this place. So I am sure it indeed has that authentic Japanese taste. Be ready to wait in line. Evening last order is at 8:30 PM although open until 9:00 PM.
Jia Sun
Easily the best tonkotsu in Perth. If you are a ramen fans like me and have been to japan, you’d know this place would beat at least 80% of Japanese ramen restaurant in taste and space — of course still rather small for Australian size. I come here 3-4 times a week. — addictive lol
Jerry
Easily most authentic ramen in town. But be prepared to queue... Not normal for Perth but worth it this time if you are ramen fan.
Arnaud Michelin
OMG! This was the best ramen soup I’ve had in years!
The place was packed, people waiting in the street to get in.
The menu is simple. There are 3 choices.
I chose the traditional pork ramen with all the toppings.
It tasted fantastic!
I liked the fact there are some hard boiled eggs and cured bean sprouts on the table. It’s a nice addition.
Ayaka Ioki
A bit busy during lunch time but the Tonkotsu ramen tastes just like ones in Japan. The broth was rich and noodles are chewy. It was a good surprise that the service was friendly even it’s busy. You can choose richness of soup, firmness of noodles and hotness of the bowl. Don’t forget to add Ajitama! The shop is small and busy so I would recommend this place for a quick bite.
Eunice Lau
There are always long lines for this restaurant, but for a good reason. The lines do move along quite quickly

Tonkotsu is not for the faint hearted as a very thick pork broth which is high in cholesterol. But it is delicious, just make sure you pick the level of flavour and noodle softness which works for you. The bonus eggs and beansprouts also makes Keisuke an attractive lunch place.
Lily
Be prepared to wait for a table here, they are very busy! They certainly did not disappoint - from the texture of the ramen, to the flavour of the broth were all on point! Pork slices were tender enough and this was the only ramen joint which offered unlimited eggs! Definitely recommend this place if you are a fan of ramen.
Thefoodchaser
Thumbs Up! The broth, the noodles, the char siew are simply divine! Would love an onsen egg in the bowl. Venue is abit small. Hence, do not go there hungry as you may be stuck in the line.
Ramen98
Great ramen. The broth is rich and decadent with a great colour, I can appreciate the technicality that is required to make it. In hindsight, depth of flavour is lacking as the richness of the broth distracts from this. However, it is still one of the best ramen broths. The wood ear mushroom is beautifully soft. Egg could use some marinating and be served slightly warmer.
Chashu consists of a paper thin slice of pork shoulder, somewhat necessary as the broth is so indulgent. I love the complimentary bean sprouts and eggs. Be aware It can add up if you want the ramen with all toppings.
I don’t usually like my broth too rich but somehow, Tonkotsu king has opened my mind and I now have a new standard for tonkotsu ramen.
James Harrisson
Having tried many of Perth's emerging ramen joints, this one easily takes the crown. The presentation of all three main dishes is superb, with your choice of broth and noodle style complementing the free condiments perfectly. If I had to pick on anything, it's the venue size - be prepared to queue up at peak times for a seat, and don't bring a big group - this one's best for smaller crowds. Indulge yourself, because this is one of the most authentic Japanese eateries Perth has to offer.
Samantha Davis
There is no better ramen in Perth. I have nothing else to say. They need a bigger venue, the demand is high because this place make a perfect ramen.
CSL
The ramen was definitely the best in the CBD of Perth! The services were good, very surprised that the hard boiled egg and bean sprouts are provided without any charges as a complementary before the ramen served to us. Will miss this so much and come back again if I still have chance to travelling in Perth.
Ian
Now that’s what I call a ramen egg! Broth is porky and tasty. Chashu is tender. Ordered the tonkotsu ramen with standard everything. Very nice bowl indeed.
Yan
The red tonkotsu ramen is fab! These guys have a strong ramen game and give free hard boiled eggs. Small place and there will be a line. Worth the wait.
Hysteric Ape
Ramen seems all the hype at the moment. Small joint at the top end of city close to West Perth at Melbourne Hotel. Had to wait in line for 10 min and shared a table with some strangers but that's no biggie. Had the Tonkotsu Red. Had enough chili without being overpowering. I selected standard strength broth with all the toppings. Rich broth (probably one of the richest in Perth) and nice noodle texture. Love the free eggs. Quick service and friendly staff. Bit out of the way in terms of location tho.
Livaus
Queues are expected, but they are definitely worth it - one of best ramen in town. Skip on egg, but get extra pork! Service is fast, ramen delicious, beer cold.

After reading the overwhelmingly positive reviews decided to give this place a try. Very cosy with a fun and inviting atmosphere – complete with multicoloured Japanese ads and a bar overlooking the kitchen. Great for groups, couples or the solo hungry traveller.

Service was excellent and bean sprouts and hard boiled eggs are complimentary (like some other reviewers I am also slightly confused about the latter, but whatever).

You have the option of choosing the soup base (normal, spicy, black pepper); noodle texture (soft, normal, hard); and soup intensity (light, normal, strong). I chose (normal, normal) soup and hard noodle. The noodle had a good texture but for my personal taste the soup was too rich/gluggy – this is just my personal opinion. Similar to Gumshara in Sydney.

Just be aware of whether you like thick broth (in which case order normal) or the lighter style (order light).
Kario Teguh Chandra
awesome dining experience. Broth was very rich, meat was tender. One of the best ramen in my life. Although the queue was long, but their staff very efficient in managing them. Definitely a must place visit in perth.

This place is currently the best tonkotsu ramen joint in Perth, located in the Melbourne Hotel, near the RAC Arena.

I have frequented this venue on multiple occasions from it's opening week (early April 2018) til now, and the consistency of the food is what keeps me coming back.

When restaurants first open, they might be excellent, but after a honeymoon period, there may be a decline in the food quality. However, Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King hasn't declined yet. I sincerely hope they continue what they're doing with the same passion and enthusiasm they've displayed to date.

Highlights:
☑️ Strong and tasty Pork Bone Broth
☑️ Noodles which soak in the broth, but don't go soggy
☑️ Chashu, which tastes great and falls apart in the mouth

Bonus:
☑️ Complimentary Bean Sprouts and Hard Boiled Eggs
☑️ JRock ambience.

Papillon
Great ramen restaurant! Came here one weekend for lunch. The place is small so keep in mind that you may have to line up. But the line do move fairly quickly. I ordered the original noodle which is full of flavour. It is on the richer side but I guess that’s the characteristic of tonkotsu soup. I also appreciate the complimentary bean sprouts and boiled eggs. Still don’t know what the boiled eggs are for though. Just be careful not to fill up on the freebies or else you’ll spoil your appetite for the mains
Everxkr
Great depth to broth and light on the stomach. Will come back to try other flavours. They were packed when we came but empty when we finished so try your luck! Food comes out super quick ❤️✔️
Pip
Hands down best ramen in Perth. Really nice broth. portion size is just right. Love that they offer free boiled eggs for dine in only. Nao comes in second.
More Than Nourishment
After seeing all the amazing reviews, I was worried that I would be disappointed. We came on a weekday just before midday and got a seat right away. With only three dishes on the menu, it didn’t take long to decide on the red spicy ramen and the original. I loved the ability to customise your order including noodle firmness, flavour of the broth, temperature and oil flavour. I got normal broth, light oil, hard noodles and hot. It was perfect. The broth was so creamy with the right amount of spice.. I slurped it all along with eating a free boiled egg and topping it with slightly spicy bean sprouts. I think one of the top ramens I’ve eating. Will be back very soon!
Pim Tamolwan
Have to wait in a queue to get a seat, but worth for waiting. Staffs are every nice and polite. There are only 3 soup selections to choose for ramen, and each of it are very tasty and strong flavour (you can choose soup flavour how strong you like). Will definitely come back again.
Reynaldo
In my opinion, I think this is, hands down, the best tonkotsu ramen in Perth.

The portion was quite big, the price was reasonable, and the broth was amazing

The place was pretty small so most likely you will have to queue to get a seat.
Vicky Li
Was super excited to try this place out after hearing so many rave reviews and it definitely didn’t disappoint. Ordered the regular tonkotsu with the “normal” option selected for everything on the order slip. Broth was a bit rich for my liking so I’d probably opt for the lighter option next time, however the flavours and noodles were really good. I’m not sure how to rate this because I’m still unsure about how much I actually liked the ramen itself but the service was prompt and friendly and I’d definitely go back.
Live2eat
Fantastic Ramen! Free egg and bean spout too 😃. But be prepared to que 1/2 hour (at least )🤔.... so may not be for everyone. Basically only 3 type of Ramen but they are all v v tasty.

My partner & I went here for our dinner tonight after a week of craving ramen. Hands down, it was the best broth I’ve ever had! And every element can be tailored, I really loved that. The oolong and green tea were so good as well, I ordered them cold and it just cuts through everything. You definitely need to visit here and try the chef’s ramen! A beautiful, clean and cosy space to eat in. 10/10
Mr Robot
Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu is one of the many Japanese Ramen chain to hit Perth shores. I consider this quite a pleasure being able to sample such a wide variety of ramen styles. Having JUST got off the plane from Japan a few days ago, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to have a decent comparison between the two countries’ ramen. As a benchmark, I had a ramen enthusiast friends living in Japan take me to the best of the best speciality ramen stores Tokyo had to offer – often a 1.5 hour wait for stores that only opened their doors for 1-2 hours a day, sometimes only 3 days a week.

Ramen Keisuke has a similar vibe to the stores in Japan - limited seating in a small store, with a handful of counter seats for the people eating alone (or not), a loud greeting from staff upon entry and even a line outside the store. Upon being shown your seat, you receive a small paper slip to choose what style of ramen you have, any extras, broth strength, etc. to cater to your preferences. I opted for 'normal' as this was recommended - presumably by the head chef who intended how the ramen was to be eaten.

The ramen broth has a rich (こってり) heaviness to it, utilising a pork bone base - thick and full of emulsified fat. I found the broth quite over powering and continually fighting for dominance on your palette. For reference, most broths used in Perth are 'rich' (as opposed to light - あっさり) and I would opt for a lighter broth strength next time.

The type of noodles used were thin and straight. Whilst controversial, I much prefer thick noodles used in rich broths as these tend to absorb the flavours of a rich base more. My noodles were slightly over done and lost its structure halfway through the meal - I may opt for the "chewy" option next time.

The chashu pork used is something that I have not been able to see Perth (or anywhere in Australia) replicate successfully. Eggs were good, soft boiled and ever so slightly runny with a strong colour. Scallions and menma were good adding levels to the flavour. One thing I did choose was for the ramen to be "hot" as opposed to warm. The ramen I received was more on the warm side.

Whilst Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu may not be able to compete with the top tier local Ramen stores in Japan, it might have taken my personal #1 Ramen store in Perth. Or at least until another chain opens its doors.
Honsie
Would love to give them a 4 star but really disappointed with their consistency. Been there for over 5 times, when the team was made up by the original bunch of Japanese staffs, the service and table management were a lot more efficient. The soup were also thick and tasty. But other times their table management was bad with idle tables and customers stayed for chatting. The soup suddenly became salty. some how they seem to switch team for reason I could not understand.
J
THE BEST RAMEN I'VE EVER HAD! Would definitely come again, and definitely need to introduce all my friends to this awesome place. The prices are decent and the taste is just unbelievable. The line might be long at times but definitely worth the wait. MUST COME!
LittleAsianGirl
It is a really cozy place. Delicious meal here! We ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen and the Red Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen with flavoured egg. What a delicious bowl of noodles! Love the thick and rich flavoured broth. The red spicy ramen wasn’t spicy for me but just as tasty. The flavoured egg was delicious. Cooked to perfection. Love the complimentary beansprouts and boiled eggs. Definitely coming back for more!
Reuben Black
Very cool place with very cool ramen. Cosy atmosphere and prices decent. You could get your own boiled egg from the basket on the table which was pre funky. Got the black spicy special which was nice and the spice wasnt overbearing. Broth was super thick and creamy, but you could customize your entire meal to have it exactly how you wanted it.
RK
I would say Keisuke is the best ramen in Perth . Complimentary boil egg and bean sprouts . Soup base is rich and taste so Japanese . Love it !
Grounded Gourmet Globe-Trotter
A fast paced eat out spot for a delicious ramen! Loved this quirky spot that offered could complimentary hard boiled eggs and bean sprouts along with a pestle and mortar to grind our own sesame seeds. We ordered the plain ramen, and two black spicy ramen with strong soups and less oil. I love how we can customise the ramen down to soup strength, oil or noodle thickness and they had a variety of toppings to pick from to add onto the meal. Loved it so much I went looking for ramen again the next day....
F4fitfunfoodfly
We had the ramen with boiled eggs and all you can eat bean sprouts. The soup was thick and rich. Some thought it was too salty but once mixed with bean sprouts it was just ok. The kids didn't appreciate the boiled eggs and thick noddles but the older folks loved it. There was a queue outside & they take your order in the queue. When seated your order is delivered. A system that could go wrong if you don't identify yourself on your order form. We got the drinks for the next table served to us. Easily resolved as we didn't order drinks and had the house water. The service is fast and soon the bellies were full of boiled eggs, bean sprouts, ramen and thick consomme. The tables are not large & if you are a group of 5 or more you need to share tables. Fast food full feed fun.
Practical Kitchen
Great ramen I have ever eaten. Ordered original tonkotsu ramen. Soup not overpowered by seasoning....just nice and well balanced of flavor, but maybe for some people will find the broth quite thick and rich (don't worry have an option for lighter soup). They also give complimentary fermented beansprout and hard boiled egg (you can eat as much as you want)... Fermented beansprouts were really nice to eat with ramen because they cut off the richness of the broth. Surely will go back to this place again.
Phubu7
Lunch time on Sunday expect to line up. It’s worth the wait as the ramen is quality here. The soup is flavoursome and you can choose your toppings too. Will be back here again! Best in Perth.
JuYeethejoey
Conveniently located next to QV1 and in melbourne hotel is this ramen place that everyone is talking about. I decided to give it a go on Sunday afternoon and queue for an hour to get into this restaurant. There were complimentary hard boiled eggs, bean sprout and sesame that you can ground with a mortar and pestel. I had the tonkotsu ramen and it was perfect. The broth is thick and porky and ramen was cooked to perfection.
Urbanconcept
The latest ramen joint to hit Perth is Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King. Part of The Melbourne Hotel, the tiny restaurant has a simple tonkatsu menu with complimentary boiled eggs and bean sprouts which is great. The soup was the perfect balance of creamy and flavour, without being too thick or salty - I enjoyed it better than Hakata Gensuke or Ippudo. Check it out next time you're in the city, and be prepared to wait given it doesn't seat many people. Enjoy!
C
My go to ramen place in the city! I have tried both the black spicy and red spicy and definitely prefer the red spicy. I love a good pork based broth with well balanced flavours, and they do it perfectly here. Love the free flow hard boiled eggs and beansprouts. I love how you can grind your own sesame seeds and add it into the ramen - makes the whole dining experience so fun! Plus you can choose the texture of noodles and strength of the broth. Definitely recommend this place!
Lunarcry
We had to try this new ramen place that has recently been the talk of the town. We were there at 6.30 on a Sunday night and there was a small queue building up. After a 15 minute wait we were finally seated. A simple menu with 3 different types of ramen to choose from: original, red spicy and black spicy. The black spicy had a hint of Sichuan spiciness that leaves a tingling sensation on your palate. Overall I thought the ramen were delicious. The broth is full of flavor, in fact a little too porky for my liking, though might please others. This eatery also offers free flow beans sprouts and hard boil eggs which is a bonus.
Ricky Emilius
Dare I say, this is the best tonkotsu ramen I've been to in Perth yet. The broth was thick, flavourful and creamy. The flavoured egg was really yummy. Their noodles texture and consistency is just right for everyone although I prefer tougher which I can choose to have next time anyways. Definitely a must try and if you like spicy ramen, their red tonkotsu is a must try. Big plus on the free bean sprout topping, I love extra bean sprouts with my ramen especially when they're free. Good stuff
Adamjomi222
Probably the best ramen in Perth. The broth had a rich taste, the noodles had great texture and the toppings were enjoyable. My only complaints would be that I ordered the spicy ramen and it didn’t pack much heat and the pork wasn’t very tender. Other than those points, this ramen joint comes highly recommended.
Julie Pham
Staff were extremely rude, will definitely never go back. If you have to wait in line to get a table then one person shouldn’t be able to stand in line for 10 people - it’s just unfair! Do a number system then.
Rafira
They offer only three ramen flavours here - a traditional flavour, a black pepper, and a red spicy flavour. I forget the actual names, but my companions and I ordered all three so I got to taste them all. Each had a unique taste which indicated real thought had gone into them beyond simply "black pepper sauce on top" or so on. The noodles are hand made and fantastic, and the eggs are cooked so perfectly - just slightly more well done than other restaurants which gives them a beautiful gooey consistency.

The menu customisation is considered and affordable depending on how hungry you are and although I really appreciate the complimentary eggs,I was unfortunately packed full of Ramen at that point.

Staff were friendly and the store is cute. Worth queuing for sure.

This is not the place to go if you're on a diet. However if you are in search of the richest, porkiest and creamiest tonkotsu out there... Well this is the place to go!

I am absolutely blown away by this tonkotsu broth. There is nothing subtle about it. It's heavy, it's salty and it is so very good. It's like drinking milk except well... It's pork fat really. You can even see the bits floating in the broth. I don't mind however because the result is an amazing broth unlike any other I've tasted.

Also... Complimentary unlimited boiled eggs are standard with every Ramen purchase. So are the bean sprouts. That's good value. I ate 4 eggs and nearly a whole jar of bean sprouts. I also liked the touch of being able to grind the sesame seeds with a mini mortar and pestle.

There was a queue when I arrived around 1, so get in early if you can. It's definitely worth the effort. This is some amazing, albeit incredibly unhealthy Ramen.
Tsewyllaw
Best ramen broth i've had for a long while! It's richness packs a heavy punch full of flavor and porky goodness. Definitely worth the long queue!

Easily my favourite ramen place in Perth. Their broth reminded me so much of the authentic ramen in Japan. The portion of the pork was also huge - and free eggs and bean sprouts too! I also like the fact that it is not overly expensive and that you can get the basic ramen tonkotsu and still leave the place feeling so full and happy! I love this place so much i keep coming back. 💕

Ps. The queue can take a while (10-20mins) but at night around 7.30ish there isnt any queue.
T122
Excellent Ramen and very friendly staff who are happy to stop and have a chat.
You’ll see a line of people outside as it’s only a small venue, which gives it the appeal. Looks of good Japanese art on the wall.
The menu isn’t overly complicated so you go there for 1 of 3 types of ramen essentially.
Message to owners - don’t ever change!
Thegreeats
We have tried Hakata & Ippudo and this is by far the best ramen in Perth.
Words can’t describe how richly smooth and creamy the broth was.
Portions were just right and it was actually one of the best ramens Ive had in my life.
Complimentary boiled eggs is also a cute unique touch. Its really good dipped in Mayo while you are waiting.
Speaking of which, you must prepare to wait even on a weekday.
I suggest going 10-15min prior opening hour if you dont want to wait.
110% recommend

In 2011, Keisuke Takeda-san, founder of Ramen Keisuke, won the title of Ramen Champion at the Tokyo Ramen Championships against 30,000 other ramen chefs in Japan 🍜🤴. Since then his empire has expanded to 23 outlets in Japan and 8 in Singapore. Why Perth has the pleasure of being the first Australian city to house this next-level liquid gold remains a mystery 🕵, but we are forever thankful!

The eatery has an incredible Japanese feel with small space, cheerful chatter and friendly folks being the common themes. There are free-flowing hard-boiled eggs and bean sprouts right at the table, so do refrain from stuffing yourself silly 🥚🌱. My special bowl of tonkotsu with nori, ajitsuke egg and extra chashu arrives with a gloriously opaque gloss over the top. The broth is visibly thick and OMG the way it coats your mouth can only be described as #ramengasm 😍. I have never EVER had such a rich, full-bodied and umami-enhanced concoction before and who needs fillers when there are this many fatty bubbles 🐽? People either love or hate those cubes of pork fat and I absolutely LOVE them! They add to the creaminess and compliment those melt-in-your-mouth chashu slices extremely well. If there's one thing I cannot fault in the recent months of ramening it's this bowl of perfection right here.

Seriously, this ramen makes all the baby ramen say "I wanna be like that ramen when I grow up!" Don't worry child, so do I. 🍜
Teepee7500
So so taste. I've had better tasting ramen from other joints in Perth. The place is so small that they only accommodate diners in either groups of 2 or 4. Not children friendly at all. There are no high chairs and they ask you to sit your child on your lap. Very bad service.
El
Delicious Ramen! Definitely worth the visit.
We lined up at 5.10pm on a Saturday night and made it into the restaurant on first go (can probably fit only 18-20people at once).
Food comes out very quick if you get your order in first. The order process allows you to write your own order on a piece of paper with options. The Black Spicy is already very spicy - can only imagine how bad the Red Spicy is!
But the original was delicious. I really like how you can order extra serve of just noodles.
But it's not a place for "sit and catch up"...you line up, eat, and leave.
Ilovebeansprouts
Rating : 4.5
One of the best ramen around. Love the milky, white porky broth that is so rich in flavour and the super tender char siu that just melts in your mouth. There are 2 types of Spicy Ramen - Red or Black. Prefer the Red Spicy Ramen over the Black. The Black Spicy has a bit of numbing effect, like eating Sichuan Peppers, and leaves your tongue tingling, while the Red Spicy is spicy from its hot chilli oil and spices. The noodles are thin and chewy, and have a great bite to them.
There's free-flow of hard boiled eggs and beansprouts on the side, as well as some sesame seeds to go with your noodles, which you can grind yourself.
A small, confined dining place, but pleasant ambience. Service is quick and efficient.

Very poor service, staff a bit pushy to empty your table for next group. The ramen was just ordinary, However, the broth was way too salty. If you just want some free boiled egg, then this is the place, otherwise, many more better ramen places to choose.
I have nothing to complain about from this restaurant. Attentive staffs, quick service apart from the long queue to get in. The Red Spicy Ramen I ordered was absolutely delicious 🤤.
Complimentary eggs, beansprouts and jap mayo??!
Yes, Please!! 😍
Marie

I came to the restaurant with my friends. The dining experience is fantastic here. I ordered the spicy black ramen and the taste similar like what I had in Japan. Also, we asked for the soup to be hotter but surprisingly they changed the whole dish completely. Wow! What a huge shock to show their hospitality. Highly recommended to dine in here 👍🏻

Went there for an early dinner at 5:30pm but there were already people queuing! Waited for about 20 min before we got a place. The ramen was served really quickly. The tonkotsu broth was very rich and flavourful and the noodles were cooked just right. The best part is the free flow bean sprouts and boiled eggs you get here, which really fills you up

As of today there was still a que! Was there 5 minutes before opening time and had to wait for another 30 minutes, even though it was on a Monday morning. Worth the wait but I can't imagine waiting on a weekend. Cute and cosy environment, ramen was served very quickly as we have already ordered through a paper/checklist during the que. Love their free egg, bean sprout and sesame! I had their signature tonkotsu ramen, and ticked all 'normal'in terms of texture of noodles, oiliness, and taste of broth. There are little white globules floating on the broth, even so I still like it! The pork has a slight gamey smell but I'm play with it. I would come back but only on a weekday!

Incredible quality ramen, I would say that it is the best I've had in Perth. The wait is a pain though, as the place is very popular. Expect to queue. I really like the free eggs and sprouts.

Well worth the wait in queue for these hot steamy bowls of sunctious sticky broth with thin wheat noodles cooked just the way you like them.
We got the black and red spicy tonkotsu Ramen and were met with huge bowls! The soft boiled egg tasted great and had been lovingly marinated, the chashu was tasty and had a good texture with a bit more bite that went well with the lip smacking collagen tonkotsu.
Complementary bean sprouts and hard boiled eggs were fun as well as the sesame bowls and condiments so you can really make it what you want.
Quirky decor with fun music the place is tiny and hard to move around but the staff navigate this with finesse.
I'll be coming for round two for sure, oishii!!

Came here 10 minutes before opening on a weekday and there are already people queuing up outside the restaurant. The ramen here definitely live up with the hype. I like how there give us the option regarding the texture of the noodles, how oily it is, how strong the broth /soup to be , any unwanted toppings and etc. There are a basket of boiled eggs and bean sprouts available and free of charge. The restaurant itself is very small so definitely recommended to come early to avoid the queue.

Ramen is all about the broth and the broth here is amazing. Thick, creamy, nicely seasoned. Not too weak or too strong. Thumbs up, highly recommended.

I have to queue for 45 mins to eat. You get free eggs and bean sprout. You can eat as much as you want. They give you a small place of sesame so I can make into powder and put into the noodle. It is quite a big bowl. It is a bit salty for the broth. I have to drink lots of water after eating the noodle. Egg is good.

Bad service. Waitress was very rude. We tried to take our double pram in and the waitress said there wasn’t enough space, despite us sitting down already. Other staff didn’t seem to have a problem walking around it but she took exception. So we have to get up and leave. Oh well we find broth is better at Nao anyway.

Since opening, this ramen bar seemed to have huge lines outside for lunch and dinner. Some one month later we go the tip that the line was finally starting to die down quicker during lunch.

Excitingly, wife and i quickly planned for a late thursday lunch to check it out.

3 variations of the tonkotsu were on offer, normal, black spicy and spicy.

A basket of eggs and a big serve of fermented bean sprouts were on the table for us to help ourselves. Small bowl of sesame seeds was also place on the table. We settled on the original and the black with the standard configuration.

The broth was very porky in my original, in the black there was a strong hit of pepper. With some fungus, a big slice of pork, a soft centred flavoured egg and a few other bits, it was a joy. My only complaint would be the noodles were piping hot, but the broth was barely warm. Would have liked the broth a touch hotter.

Not a huge bowl, but after a couple of eggs and some bean sprouts the tummy was more than happy.

I did notice i got abit thirsty afterwards, possibly msg?

We got here at 1.00 pm on a weekday for lunch. Long queue and we had to wait 30 mins so went across the road to Mary Street bakery to get some cookies to tide us over. Order through the sheets of paper that I’ve included here in the photos. Service is friendly and fast but pretty much no service after giving you your ramen.

We got tonkotsu and spicy red tonkotsu with flavoured egg. My friend ordered extra flavoured oil but we got normal for everything else. She’s had the spicy black one as well and says that one is more numbing (like Sichuan peppercorns) and recommends the red over the black.

Noodles - got the medium. Good chew and texture.
The broth is flavourful. Very strong pork flavoured, almost to the point of boar taint/gamey. Not too salty. The broth is less homogenous then Nao or Ippudo’s and had more than a few fatty floating pieces which comes with good tonkotsu.
Loved loved loved the spring onion, black fungus and chasyu. The flavoured egg was also tasty, a bit slightly overcooked but had a nice sweet and salty flavour - soy and mirin I’m guessing. Worth getting.

The table also comes with complimentary bean sprouts in sesame oil which were fantastic and yummy, I do love my sesame oil though so I’m biased. Also hard boiled eggs, not 100% hard boiled though and slightly underdone in the middle. Yum yum. And little bowls of black and white sesame seeds to pound up and put in your broth.

Worth a try. I came back a few months later after coming back from Japan and it’s comparable. The black oil one is oishii.

BEST RAMEN IN PERTH. So authentic, so flavourful, i ordered rich broth which was an umami bomb in your mouth! I travelled around Japan and this one is the closest to Japanese ramen that I love.
Free extra egg and bean sprout is so generous of them! Double like!

Lunch was at 12pm and there’s a queue. Waited 10 minutes to be seated and was handed a menu. Notably they only had ramen listed and it had a range of choices to choose from to customise to your particular tasting from depth of flavour to noodle hardness. I opted for the Black Spicy Special w/ All Toppings, Strong Flavour, Normal Flavoured Oil & Noodles at Warm Soup Temperature.

Once we sat down the food came quickly and was worth the wait. The soup reminded me of the Tsukuramen I had in Japan but with the ramen inside. The toppings were yummy w/ large chashu servings. It wasn’t spicy at all though despite the spicy label. Maybe its just me.

Verdict: I’ll definitely be back here again to try the other ranges!

Short review: The best tonkotsu ramen in Perth.

Opened April 12 at the new Melbourne Hotel, corner of Milligan and Hay street. Keisuke Ramen Tonkotsu King is a well known chain on Asia.

The chef, flown in from Singapore. The noodles, hand made in house. The broth, pork bone boiled to the point the collagen, pork fat and flavours emulsify into a creamy, white and deceptively fulfilling base for the ramen.

The queue. Expect 30-60 minutes. The restaurant is small not like all things in Perth, small and inefficient. Groups >2 are disadvantaged as you have to wait for limited space if you wish to seat together.

How was it? Delicious. Noodles perfectly cooked. Tip is to request “hard” like the Japanese do, and they will soften as you eat. With that al dente bite until soaked through. The broth, probably the best tonkotsu in Perth and certainly up there. Choice of black (pepper), red (chilli oil) or regular. That’s all they do. Vegan NOT friendly!

Unlimited bean sprouts soaked in sesame oil and hard boiled eggs. Eat those with the works ($19 including seaweed, extra slice pork and marinated egg) and you’ll be post prandial all night.

No takeaway. Service - this is a ramen place. You’ll receive a bowl of noodles and flag someone for water, or extra condiments if you need to.

7/10 - might seem harsh, the tonkotsu ramen is worth a 8.5 but how often would you go back for a 60 minute queue?

Waited at the queue for 45 mins and got in finally. Service was quick and ordered the Black Tonkotsu Ramen. The broth was rich and tasty. Noodles was great with perfect texture (selected HARD). Price tag was a little bit dear but definitely a quality bowl of Ramen that was served and worth. This place is not a big and only sits around 20 people approx., as similar to most of other Ramen's joints. If you are bringing baby, you might need to compromise as this is not their fault for not trying to give you space for your prams etc IMHO. So the rating I've given them surely was for the bowl of RAMEN and quick service. Enough said.

We’ve waited half hour outside with my one year old baby. We’ve told the staff THREE times that we cannot hold our baby and eat our ramen at the same time and would need space for our compact pram. They repeatedly asked us if we could hold our baby while we eat. We just ended up leaving. Stupid staff and not considerate for young families. Would never come again.

Came 45mins before they even opened, around 20 people were already queueing in front of us. Place is so small and can only fit 20ish people, we had to wait another 30mins before we got in! Fortunately they cooked the noodle pretty quick. Very rich broth, noodle was nice and chewy. When cold, the broth became sticky, that’s what I didnt like. We appreciate their free (unlimited) beansprouts and boiled eggs on the side, same like what they do in Singapore.
