My wife and I had a three-course dinner with wine at Hangout on 20 Preston bought from Groupon celebrating her birthday last night. This is the first time we came to this restaurant. The restaurant sits on a slope overlooking the river offering a magnificent view at dusk. There is plenty of free parking along the roadside. We like the interior decoration and ambience of it.
We ordered a glass of Vasse Felix Chardonnay and a glass of Pepper Jack Shiraz, and both were of very good quality. The shared entree we ordered was lemon pepper squid. We were surprised by its portion size, not to mention the squid was battered and fried to perfection on top of a fresh salad. We could taste the freshness and tenderness of the squid. My wife had barramundi as main-course and I had sirloin steak. Again, we were amazed by their portion size. Both dishes were nicely decorated. After tasting the barramundi, we knew straight away the owner and the chef wanted to impress the customers with their quality of food. Our taste buds were not bombarded by intense flavours, instead we could taste the freshness and quality of the fish and vegetables used to make the dish. The creamy sauce was not overloaded with butter and cream that might kill our appetite. The 300gm sirloin steak was another surprise. The moment I stuck the knife in the meat I knew it was something exceptional. It was very tender and cooked to my liking, which was medium rare. The cross-section of the steak revealed to me it was dry-aged. It was darker in colour and showed a jelly texture. Again, the pepper corn sauce was not salty and intense. I knew they did not want to mask the real taste and quality of such a prime steak.
We were quite filled before being treated with desserts. We ordered affogatto and banana, berry and chocolate crepes. And again, we could not help ourselves to tell the waitresses how fantastic the desserts were.
We had a very good night and were very impressed by the consistent quality of food provided to us by this restaurant. I told the manager/owner of what I mentioned above before we left.
Another one of my favourite breakfast and even dinner spots in Perth! The brekky menu is sensational (I'm a simple poached egg and avo person), the coffee is great and it's a cute little spot. The dinner menu is just as tasty, my favourite being the pork belly
Came here for a brunch with a bunch of friends. Called 1 hour prior to make reservation and no hassle at all as the girl is very helpful.
I had big breakie, standard. But bacon was a bit over cook thus dry. Flat white was ok, but feedback is for the cup, handle is not ergonomic.
But ambience is good in general. Customer service is good.
