Very very impressed with the meal and the service. I had eggplant dish as I'm vegetarian at the moment and spring rolls, my wife had beef brisket.
Filling fast and friendly
Under 40$ with drinks
The Chinese patrons all seemed to get massive bowls of soups and noodles
Will try these next time
Chilli King Chinese is a simple decor restaurant on Northbridge serving northern Chinese cuisine, some dishes from the Szechuan region. The clientele is Chinese and I got a few looks reminding me of my time in China at a “foreigner” entering the restaurant. I was greeted and taken to the table to peruse the extensive menu. The waitress came over which is a prompt to “you’d better be ready to order!” I was and I settled on the spicy soup noodles with beef brisket, perfect for the cold winter. After some time, a bowl arrived filled with a dark red broth with lots of chillies hidden under the thin noodles, chunks of beef brisket, and bits of buk choy. The broth is tasty but probably needs a bit more seasoning. However, there’s plenty of spiciness via the lip numbing Szechuan chillies which have a slightly numbing effect but aren’t that hot. Slurping the broth with the noodles is a tasty affair, one is warmed up pretty quickly. I really loved the super tender delicious chunks of beef brisket which melt in your mouth. It’s a great meal for this weather and I polished off the soup.
Don't know why I didn't try this place sooner. I quite like the noodles here and not too overpriced either. They are another Szechuan style restaurant offering a mix of share dishes as well as individual noodle dishes. We had the Wanton Noodle Soup and the Braised Beef Noodle Soup. The wanton soup was different to the standard Malaysian style as their broth was alot oilier and strong sesame oil flavour, the wanton doesn't have shrimp but was ok. Love the noodles they use, chewy and smooth and not egg based. The braised beef was tender and we'll braised, had salted vegetables and soup was oily and spicy but tolerable and not overpowering. Was a decent feed.
They were very accommodating for a large group. The food is delicious and authentic, with good vegetarian options! Would definitely recommend if looking for yummy Chinese food in the city!
Organised big group dinner for here. Everyone very impressed with the authenticity of the dishes-so rare to find proper Sichuan cuisine. Especially recommend the 鱼香茄子 but all dishes were delicious and proper use of 麻辣! Very reasonably priced and staff all very accommodating to any request we had and very generous of spirit. Best Chinese in Perth.
Fantastic authentic sichuan dishes. Spent six months in sichuan and rate this best in perth. Not like being back in china but as close as perth offers. Come for a taste of real food, real spice, real mouth numbing. Lovely staff. Basic decor but clean.
Its okay. Went there for lunch today and it was good. Service was great, reasonably price and very tasty food.
It's pretty decent food - not the best, but not the worst. Whether it's authentic or not, I really can't say, but I had two noodle dishes and pan-fried dumplings - taste was ok and price was pretty good for Perth standards. I have had better, but it's a decent place for decent food at good portion sizes.
Service was definitely lacking, but for what you pay, can't expect too much. I would not likely return, but not because the food or service was bad, just that there are better places to eat in the area.
