We had a great visit to Port Arthur on March 27th. The site was well maintained and the staff helpful and informative. The best part of the visit was the short play that depicted three of the personalities that you would have seen when it was a penal colony. Highly recommend viewing one of those plays!
Great place with a lot of beautiful scenery. Would recommend a visit to those who have never been there.
I'm giving the historic site five stars as it was absolutely incredible and the caretakers have done a fantastic job maintaining this place. If you like history, it's here in spades. We did the ghost tour and unfortunately our tour guide, Jacinta, really cheapened the experience with very disrespectful humour and over-the-top storytelling. I would do the ghost tour again but hopefully we'd be able to request a different tour guide. To be fair, she was very young and probably doesn't understand the depth of how much suffering really went on. At least that's how it seemed. Overall though, the place is beautiful even with the overwhelming sadness and heavy feeling that's in the air... It's worth taking a few hours to walk around on your own during the day to really get the full experience. Especially in the morning
