One of the best places to buy Ice cream in Port Douglas!! They have a wide selection of Ice cream and cakes. Another thing that stands out is about Capannina is the deal for 2 scoops of ice cream for $5! Which all other ice cream places in Port Douglas charge $5 for 1 scoop!! Definitely the place to go for ice cream šØ
This is possibly the best and most delicious ice cream / gelato in Queensland, served with a friendly smile. I think Iām addicted. If youāre in Port Douglas you have to try for yourself....
This place offers fantastic, fresh gelato - the kind Iād find in Melbourne places like Pidapipo and Piccollino. Itās not overly creamy or fatty, but light and flavourful; done the traditional Italian way. Itās a joy to eat.
The woman who appears to run it/own it, I am unsure of her name, is extremely passionate and encourages that you try the gelato first before committing to a flavour. She explains the work that goes into hand making the gelato and concocting the flavours, really adding to the experience.
Weāve been there every night weāve stayed at Port Douglas and I highly recommend it over the other gelato places there, which offer mass produced and much less complex flavours at higher prices.
What I find so remarkable about Capannina is that a small cup of gelato costs $5, which is incredibly reasonable considering that includes two flavours. I will happily pay that every day of the week to have such an enjoyable, fresh gelato served by such a passionate and friendly staff.
Amazing gelato! Creative, natural and true tasting flavours. There are new flavours everyday and the owner is kind and passionate. Would not go for ice cream anywhere else in Port Douglas.
During the day, a Capannina ice cream was a great way to help cool down. Range of flavours from traditional to exotic tropical fruits. I had the soursop which was different with a mildly sweet taste
Whenever we are lucky enough to be in Port Douglas we end up visiting Capannina every day for an ice cream or two. Except on Tuesday...they close on Tuesday. The ice creams are as good as the best in Italy and the service is even better.
My husband and I are travelling around Aus and with each place, like to sample the local gelato/ icecream. This place had glorious, hand-made gelato which was very flavoursome, serving size was perfect, beautiful soft consistently and the server was jolly and sociable. Previous posts have been negative about the reduced flavour options so, I turned up expecting 5... there are AMPLE flavours, very varied and you'll certainly find something (or a number of things) to suit your taste. I think sometimes, people may not appreciate the time it takes to make high quality gelato - I'd prefer to have 10 (or so) high quality flavours than 30 average. Highly recommend.
Hands down the best ice cream in Port Douglas. Authentic flavours in true Italian style. Superb! Tried the other well known ice creamery - no competition for this one. Lovely owners too, who are congratulated for the magnificent ice cream they make!
Absolutely loved my dessert! I ordered the chocolate ball, which contained a mixture of mousse, caramel and passion fruit, not too sweet. It was so delicious, I cannot believe how incredible it was.
Donāt waste your calories at the other ice cream shops. This place is easily the best ice cream shop in Port Douglas!! One of the best chocolate flavours Iāve ever tasted.
Everything about our experience here was delightful. The setting was lovely. The service was friendly and cheerful. More than happy to offer samples even when not asked which is a great touch. The flavours were ssooooo good and the selection of gelato and sorbet flavours as well as the desserts was perfect. Not overwhelmed with selection but something for everyone which is great. Definitely recommend this place š
