Food is great, staff are genuine and sincere and always made to feel welcome.
Every single dish is worth having time and time again.
Take away is also well worth doing.
Keep up the good work
Delicious Chinese fusion food served by an enthusiastic and friendly waiter. Our local Chinese restaurant so will be back!
Delicious food and very accommodating for those following a low fodmap diet! (gluten, garlic/ onion free) Very impressed
One of the oldest Asian establishments in the area. They serve modern asian dishes coupled with excellent service. The food and service is somewhat semi fine-dine and the taste I would say are quite westernised.
The beef and the trout are the stars. It was tasty and moist. They don't have high chairs, only booster seat.
Love that you can book online!!!
Beautiful venue- warm feel & nice decor. Helpful staff with the menu. Beautiful dumplings, amazing pork belly & fried rice. Excellent wine list as well! Nice venue for a date night. Will definitely return for yum cha in the future!
I love a good yum cha sesh, especially when it's all you can eat. The choices of dumplings was very well received and the wait staff were very attentive. The two hour sitting time I found a little constrictive as we were enjoying ourselves so much we felt it come to an abrupt end. A MUST try is the Aloe-spritz! So refreshing and palette cleansing.
Just came for their weekend all you can eat yum cha. We were seated promptly and we ordered their house made iced tea. I would recommend getting this, it's very refreshing and not overly sweet. The food started slow and we weren't served with a few items. But once we brought this to their attention, our experience improved. Overall, quite attentive and cheery service. Dimsum variety is also good. BBQ pork buns, lettuce cups, 7 kinds of dumplings, 2 spring rolls, an eggplant dish, calamari, a pork belly main with a small cup of fried rice and a steamed veggie side, 3 desserts. Main standouts were the pork bun, prawn spring rolls and calamari. Worth the money if you come in hungry!
Just enjoyed another visit to David’s @ Prahran and as usual the food was great. Lots of variety in the yum cha degustation. Refreshing cold starters, succulent protiens, delicious dumplings. Loved the shanghai slurpee dumpling, bbq pork bun, beijing duck pancakes. And a special thanks to the team for looking after my vegetarian partner - just like every time prior, mention a veggo is at the table whe you are seated and throughout the session a vast array of special veggo treats are delivered so nobody ever feels left out. Lastly, the staff are all so very friendly, smiling, helpful, professional, and attentive... notice the same staff still working there for about 2 years or more... says a lot about the values and culture of this workplace so well done David. We will be back again.
Great feed and value with great service. Enjoy the tasting a bit of everything then ordering the favourites later. Love those white chocolate dumplings! Also that lychee mocktail was a nice surprise too
Had a lovely meal out. The food was different with fresh flavours and service was prompt. A cosy night out mid week with nice ambience. Will be back again.
Currently eating here at the moment and it is so amazing that I had to take a quick break from their All You Can Eat Yumcha to post this review.
Great hospitality and the food keeps coming! A wonderful start that even if the food slowed down, the starting experience is worth the 5 stars from me.
Always love visiting David’s who has been on the Melbourne restaurant scene for over 20 years 😊 they have always been able to strike a great balance between traditional dishes with some modern twists like the wagyu and turnip pudding was the winning dish for us! With such generous servings we always have enough to take home for lunch the next day which is always a treat!
An excellent yum cha lunch. $62pp on a Sunday ($60 on other days). None of the dishes disappointed and the white chocolate dumplings were an excellent dessert. It was unlimited but you probably won’t go past the one serving of each dish anyway.
We had the set menu- David's Selection, and left the restaurant feeling extremely full and satisfied. My favourites were the crackling pork, prawn dumplings (har gow) and the pork belly. Flavours were authentic Asian. But I felt that the bun/dumplings' skins could be thinner, and I think the pork belly could be more tender. Nonetheless, a good meal overall. Place was packed by the way, so do consider making a reservation before heading down.
i was here long time ago, good to be back. the food and the interior are staying the same!! the fried rice taste great, so fluffy, kong pan chicken are so tender , flavourful.
Xiao Long Bao aren’t juicy as before, taste good though.
the drink are not too bad, pretty refreshing.
We live 90 mins away so Providoor delivered yum cha today . SO Delish , fresh and tasty . Easy to understand instructions, even a recommended Spotify play list . Happy !!!
Such a fantastic experience! We had the veg (vegan) banquet and every dish was incredible and we left feeling full. Staff were all so lovely and attentive, we will definitely be back!
An absolutely great idea to serve Yum Cha. Pretty much every dish was delicious. You are served every dish on the menu and plenty enough for each party member. Then you are asked which dishes which you would want more of. Yep, a great dining experience. And, the staff are very helpful and courteous.
Fantastic restaurant and a Melbourne institution after 21yrs - congratulations! The venue & decor is open, simple, and elegant. The drinks are fantastic, the service is friendly and casual, and the food is sensational.
