My partner has been trying to get me to go to Kurtosh for a good six months. I was never keen as I’ve had a lot of baked goods in my day, but one day we found ourselves at Kurtosh after we travelled to Albee’s Kitchen only to find it closed. Kurtosh’s slab cakes are cut from the slab and sold by weight, which is handy because it means you can get a few small pieces of different cakes to try at any time. These were reasonably good but not memorable enough for me to even remember what they were. I think the white one was tiramisu.
The most amazing unique and delicious desserts available. Very convenient location with indoor and outdoor seating and friendly staff.

Had the lime and ginger meringue cake. It's interesting that they price it by weight but it does make a lot of sense it's just awkward trying to explain how much you want 😂 the kurtosh is good and really nice when it comes out fresh! We got the pistachio which adds a crunch to contrast with the soft inside!
Love their tea cakes! The orange blueberry, walnut cinnamon and flourless chocolate cake. Also their brandy balls!!
The Hungarian chimney cakes are great when eaten fresh, crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside.
Cinnamon funnel cake is the bomb! Keep you comming back for more thats for sure! Nice cosy place for those cold winter nights great place for a catch up over coffee. A nice variety of cake and funnel cakes. I will be back!
We walked into this place after an amazing dinner at thai-riffic next door to this cafe. I was very excited to try this cafe as the reviews were exceptional. The concept of cake/slice by the gram is great! I walked out with about 500g of various cakes all of which were exceptional. The staff were very friendly and engaging. All I can say is this concept should be rolled out Australia wide. Highly recommended. Thank you for a great experience.
The funnel cake was heavenly. I’m a sucker for cinnamon and sugar so this really hit the spot. My sister ordered another flavour, I forgot what it was but she also loved hers. They are also made fresh when you order.
Everyone was really welcoming and polite. I would definitely go back to try more treats from Kürtosh when I visit Sydney again.
The cafe had a nice vibe and staff were friendly. I got the classic Kurtosh as this was my first one.
Crispy on the outside and soft inside, this is the ultimate snack! It was quite filling to be consumed after lunch - definitely keen to try other flavours next time.
Tried few of the brownies they were ok. I am not much of a fan for sweet treats. Friend told me about this place but i actually missed buying the kurtosh itself which is the specialty. Got few seats inside and outside. Some pastry as well.
Kurtosh is one of my all time favorite bakery. I love their Nutella kurtosh bread. It was so fresh, crispy with just the right amount of nutella filling, therefore the sweetness was not too overpowering. Today i waited around 10 minutes for my kurtosh to be made. So yummy to eat it while its pipping hot and fresh out of their cool little oven. Their little chocolate brandy balls was a nice litte treat too...
They have tasty cakes and croissants. This is the raspberry croissant and the raspberry cheesecake. Had their kurtosh before and they're really nice. Cakes a bit on the pricier side at $6.5 per 100g. Haven't been here in a while due to having some bad experiences last year but everyone was really nice this time
Love kurtosh been coming back here for their wide range of delicious cake slabs. But the other day was the first time having their signature chimney cake! Crispy caramelised flaky outer layer, with soft inner walls, soft tender pull that falls apart with ease.
That day we watched the process of how it was made from the kneading of the dough to the torching of the sugar and coating of hazelnut. The dough effortlessly coils around the rolling pin ready to be baked to sweet golden goodness. It’s hard not walk past and get a whiff of the sweet pastry smell. The staff were so friendly and accomodating, prompt service and very clean with with their processes.
My personal opinion is to get a cinnamon scroll with Nutella middle, the perfect sweetness. However if you have a severe sweet tooth go for the loaded toppings with the choice of hazelnut and pistachio with the Nutella centre just be mindful that there is an extra layer of caramelisation to keep the topping on. My go to cake slab is always a cheesecake and this raspberry cheesecake was just divine! Sweet however tinge of tartness and sourness from the raspberry creates the perfect balance ! If you don’t have much of a sweet tooth they have some savoury pastries to!
What a nice chill cafe for a hot drink and cake. Stopped here as I was early for a movie and really like that they’re open late (close at 10). Really convenient if you want to have a hot drink late instead of a bar.
They’ve got a nice selection of cakes too and the atmosphere is chill.
First saw kurtosh or chimney cakes in the markets of Budapest & Prague years ago and was fascinated by them. Tried the nutella kurtosh here for the first time and it was divine. Crispy and flaky on the outside and soft on the inside. Just wanted to add that the girl who made our kurtosh was friendly and warm. Thank you! Brings back great memories of Europe. 😊
Amazing place for some sweets and coffee. The cakes are delicious and the staff is friendly. Highly recommended this cafe to everyone
One of the best desserts in Sydney. They have amazing ambience which feels very homely. Their hot chocolate, tiramisu and red Velvet cake is incredible. If you haven't tried Kurtosh yet, you are missing out!
If you are ever feeling nostalgic for traditional European pastries and cakes, Kürtósh will transport you to an old town medieval city with its tasty treats. Kürtósh is especially famous for their Chimney Cakes which are all handmade in front of you and take about ten minutes to make. They also have a variety of slab cakes which they sell per piece and are priced by weight. You can also get hot beverages to go.
