This place is a gem for good Indonesian food. We tried the nasi goreng, bakmi goreng and stir fried chilly chicken and everything tasted so good. The spice was just right and it left us wanting for more. The staff were so sweet and courteous and kept checking if we liked the food. One of the best places we’ve tried in Sydney so far!
Located on a busy street in Randwick this place allows you to reminisce Bali. Jimbaran does indonesian classics. If you're seeking a great indonesian meal, this is the spot.
We tackled two mains from the Chefs Suggestion menu.
-BETUTU which consists of duck wrapped in spices and banana leaf ($24). Duck is really tender and flavoursome.
-BABI GULING pork belly marinated with herbs and spices roasted and served with pickled vegetables ($26). Pork is succulent and really tasty.
Also had GADO-GADO steam mixed veggies and tofu served with home-made peanut sauce.
All paired with white rice as it allows us to fully appreciate the flavours of these dishes.
Jimbaran has classic indonesian desserts and they also have Italian desserts to cater to more people. I had KETAN HITAM black sticky rice with coconut milk. Found this on the sweeter side.
I thoroughly enjoyed this meal. Great find in the suburbs of Sydney 😍🤤
Very Nice food and very nice experience. They treat you like an important customer and willing to add more spice or decrease spicy, also a good place to celebrate your birthday. No cakeage fee
staff: super friendly and the owner keep asking about whether the food was okay or not
food: food is okay. the fried rice and chilli paste is good
vibes: feels like bali and indo
Great food and Great Service.
I love the snapper pepes and Udang bakar, I think its the best snapper pepes and Grilled Prawn in Sydney....
Cute, homie and intimate! Since Pondok closed down 2 years ago, we've been seeking for a place that did proper ayam sereh (lemongrass chilli fried chicken) and terong balado (chilli eggplant) all around sydney and well...Jimbaran exceeded our expectations.
Excellent food and service, this is now our favourite Indonesian.
My host parent recommend me this place. Days after, me and my friend came to try. They have various kind of foods that you won't find in any other Indonesian restaurants.
We ordered sop buntut, gulai ayam, udang telur asin, lumpia udang, and rice. But, unfortunately the sop buntut already deleted from the menu list.
We liked the taste of the foods. Very authentic. The service was good.
Keep it up, Jimbaran!
We received very friendly and helpful service here, including free prawn crisps and water-aplenty! The light seafood curry, and gado gado were truly delicious.
Jimbaran is an Indonesian Restaurant in Randwick that has a huge menu. It also has gluten free options, vegetarian options, dishes that are nut free and you can also cater for your spice tastes by asking for more chili. It is also good for groups as there are banquet options ranging from $40-$60.
In terms of the menu there are your typical Indo choices like nasi goreng, Babi guling and sate and heaps of entree and stir fries.
We were seated, given water and some free prawn crackers. Prawn crackers were really nice! I ordered Pangsit cah which stir fried prawn and pork wonton with vegetables. Nicely braised veggies with 6 fried wontons.
I also ordered pork sate which is 6 sate sticks. Really nice flavour and well cooked.
My husband ordered Ayam Goreng which was large pieces of fried chicken which he really enjoyed. He also got Es Chandol which is a dessert drink, a traditional green jelly drink with coconut milk and palm sugar with ice. Not my thing, but he enjoyed it a lot. Owner is lovely and nice waitresses. They have Byo too.
This is hands down one of the best Indonesian fine-dining restaurant in Australia and one of only Three in Sydney. Two of them are in Randwick and the other one in Dickson Street near China Town.
We love their Chilli Eggplant dish, White bait, Martabak, Ayam Goreng Kalasan and their Ikan Bakar. Have not found any dish we don't like here.
Also worth noting is that they serve great deserts here.
Love this Indonesia restaurant. The chicken fried / Ayam goreng kremes is one of the best. Mie goreng also very recommended. Nice! Try cendol as well
Great food and lovely service. Very nicely and elegant decorated. I personally think this is one of the best Indonesian restaurants i've ever tried in Sydney for the last couple years. Food is made with authentic Indonesian spices that make a very succulent result, rich of flavours and satisfying.
With a very reasonable price and Bali ambience, the restaurant itself resembles the jimbaran touch that is just perfect.
God knows how long I've been looking for good authentic Indonesian food. I celebrated my birthday here. From the rich, traditional flavours of the beef curry, satay chicken and fish to the sweet, satisfying desserts, every bite brought me closer to heaven. I loved the fact that the dishes weren't westernised, which made the flavours stronger and the chilli dishes, were actually spicy! Jimbaran ticked all the boxes.
Good food, friendly service. The food taste otentic Indonesian cuisine. Normally I don't like lamb, but the lamb here is good because it doesn't have a strong smell. The beef rendang is a bit hard though.
Had a really good dinner in here, one of the best authentic indonesian food. Everyone should try the grilled king prawn, totally awesome! If you love seafood, should try this restaurant for sure. The satay is also one not to be missed. Highly recommended, friendly staff; met with the new owner, such pleasant guy!
Great food with lovely service.
I personally think this is one of the best Indonesian restaurants ive ever tried in Sydney for the last couple years. Foods are made with authentic Indonesian spices that made a very succulent result, rich of flavours and satisfying.
With a very reasonable price and Bali ambience, the restaurant itself resembles the jimbaran touch that is just perfect, they could have overdone it by making things more western friendly but they got it just right
Thumbs up to this small restaurant
What a surprise package. Brilliant Indonesian food. Every dish tasty and spicy in a different way and cooked by a lovely Indonesian lady who was proud that she was still cooking the way her grandmother taught her. This is the real thing. Seriously you wont find better.
