Great food and service. Perhaps Sydneys best Japanese BBQ. Terrific value for money. Ill be back soon.
First time to Randwick restaurant
Always ate at Neutral Bay
Food and service awesome as always
Would love Sunday lunch maybe one day
I enjoy eating here. Expensive Japanese bbq but so worth it. The meat melts in your mouth. The soft serve is sooooo goood. I got the green tea latte with ice cream.
Sister in law invited us to the restaurant, all the menu selected were great. Wagyu was good, the raw beef was also fresh. Tongue was also exceptional. Unagi was also great, couldn't get enough. Quite spacious and has children playground as well.

Get the ALL YOU CAN EAT (unlimited oxtongue one) ☺️❤️ got the juiciest and slimmest oxtongue in town! Best yukkae 😍❤️ they also have soft serve vanilla & greentea ice cream - so save a bit of tummy for that!
Generally quick service unless weekends.
Better order as much as u want at first.
Wide selection of good quality buffet options, beautiful atmosphere and excellent service. The staff here are very friendly, polite and professional!
Yum! We shared the all you can eat BBQ buffet and the service was lovely and food was delicious! Very good value and plenty to choose from and enough healthy options! New favourite for us.
Went for $49.90 buffet. I have frequented Koh-Ya back in where they still at neutral bay. Many of the visits were good and few occasions not so good because the meat quality kind of drop.
My last visit, I was surprised by the quality of the meats. They seem to have improved on their meat quality since my last visit. For the price offered, it certainly represent great value. Plenty of choices to choose.
Would definitely recommend this place. It's 90 mins all you can eat with last order being 60 mins. The time is sufficient for us 2 persons. The dishes come fairly quick and the fire is strong so you won't need to wait too long for it to cook.
All in all, a very pleasant experience and great service.
Our first experience of Japanese BBQ, generally good ambience, service and tasty BBQ. However, meat was frozen on serving. And staff did not inform us of surcharge of $1 for BBQ mesh.
Quality meats and friendly staff. Portions are quite generous and the BBQ seems quite premium compared to other BBQ places, I think the $50 option is worth the money considering you also have the option of ordering sashimi. The soft serve and the green tea ice cream are also lovely!
Lovely place, the wagyu beef ribs and tongue hold best value, the meat is juicy and well seasoned. I love the yukke and salads too. Do opt for the $50 menu because they offer all the great stuff! I was happy with the service overall and it is a cosy place. Walk in table on weekdays are definitely easy to get
Korean Style restaurant with a stove in the middle of your table to cook the food. It's basically a cook your own style joint with an expensive price tag. For 4 people we ordered two types of wagyu meat, mixed vegetables, buttered fish, chicken, rice, gyoza and edamame and kim chi. Meat was very good quality. You cook yourself but it's such a high temperature, it's done really fast. About 9:30 they clearly wanted to close. They are getting a 3.5 on the basis that the chefs are awesome.
Made a reservation for 6:30pm, and arrived a few minutes earlier. It was undeniable packed with customers that night. The staff were rushing all over the place, and had ignored us for a bit though it was understandable. We were finally seated when a staff came to help us out, and for the rest of the night, the staff attending to us were sweet, though I can feel the stress in their heads since it was so busy.
My partner and I had the buffet, and we had ordered so much food that it was overwhelming. Everything tasted incredible, and not a bit of meat was left to waste. The cooking grill was a bit difficult at first. We had really thinly sliced meat served to us initially so a lot of it was stuck to the grill. All the other meats weren’t a problem though. Everything tasted so good, and we soon realised that they were using a very similar kind of sauce for all the meats we were getting. Not that it was a problem, because the sauce definitely made it taste better. There was such a large array of foods to choose from that it would be a lot better if you saw it for yourself, but I can definitely say there’s something for everyone, and its well worth it. The quality of the food is also exceptional.
Would definitely come back again, and Id highly recommend to come here on an empty stomach so you can fully indulge yourself with this.
We have been to Koh-Ya many times now for the buffet menu. The service has slowed down slightly each time that we've come, but the staff are always busy and trying their best. The quality of meat is good, as are the other dishes you can order.
The last time we came, the restaurant was extremely smoky, noticeably hazier than previous times. Hopefully this ventilation issue is fixed soon!
Best Japanese bbq delivery during lockdown in Sydney east, highly recommend their premium wagyu, ox tounge, beef finger roll, porck neck, ray wings and all salads!
Sometimes these /5 ratings are about as trustworthy as a politicians hands under a banquet table. Here at the 4.1*koh ya, I can kinda see why some fellow eaters are not seeing the 5* scene. This is not Tokyo department store Japanese dining (paradoxically excellent), but we are in the spot, randwick, which is let me put it kindly, not an epicurean epicentre. There's enough in the area that's good enough, and this place is at the better end...reliable, mostly Korean takes on Japanese food...which is pretty normal. The cook yourself options are fine, though they'd benefit from some pungent Korean sauces. The real stars are the more mundane menu items...seaweed soup, sashimi, and stone pot bibimba...all served as quick as said politicians hands, and at prices that work.
