Review Minh Tan 2 - Richmond

Onnida Thammapratheep
We ordered half duck as we've been craving it for a while, half soy chicken, fried rice and tried dim sim. Duck was good. Chicken wasn't so much. There was still blood so we asked if it's normal and a waitress said it's well done. Then, I told my partner I won't have it as I think it's too red. So we returned it and they didn't charge for it. Other dishes seem delicious but it was too much for 2 of us to try anything else.

We came on a Sunday around 2 pm and the place is still quite busy. Ordered a few of the basic Yum Cha dishes like hakaw and siumai. It was okay and nothing really stands out. Portion is generous however we find the skin of hakaw thick for our liking. Food - 6 Service - 7 Vibe - 6 Price - $$

Cozy place for gathering with friends and family. Food are great and friendly service. I also love their sesame balls.

Had yum cha here previously. It was a good experience. Recently I came back to pick up some takeaway baos. The combination bao was delicious but unfortunately there were no more custard buns left.

Delicious and authentic. Awesome portion sizes and quick service.

The two of us popped in for lunch today (Sunday). Walking down Victoria Street, and it stuck out because there were quite a few people inside. Looked promising. The ordering process was a little confusing because I think we unknowingly walked in to what we later realised was during Yum Cha service. Possibly explains why we saw a limited menu with no prices. Service was nice enough to cater for the dishes we wanted though we had a slight language barrier. Food was right on point! Fresh & lots of flavours. Loved the Dim Sum! In a very hit & miss area, I'm happy with the result. Oh & street parking was easy to find - $4 for 2 hours.

The is our favourite place to eat. Alway's make a beeline for our favourite restaurant when visiting the city. Fresh delicious food served promptly! 😋
Justine Streager
Lovely Chinese food. Drinks I found a little pricey, service was ok considering how busy it was for mother's day, had to ask for waiters attention a couple of times. Atmosphere was so-so. Some small miscommunication problems (language barrier). Short wait for food which was a plus. Seriously good food.

Came here for a quick take away. The place is unfortunately quite due to covid. At the counter we ordered a Bbq pork bao which was warmed up. The bao is soft, smoothe and fluffy. The char sui inside is tender and sweet. Great place for baos!

Overall score: 15/25 or ⭐️⭐️⭐️<br/>in 5 words: regular Richmond yumcha joint<br/>*<br/>Review: Minh Tan II is a clean and well presented restaurant along the (in)famous Victoria street. The best dish there was the egg tart - it was flaky, full of butter eggy goodness! At $2.5 a pop, I would come back to pack it. the bbq pork pastry could have been “flakier”, but the inner pork fillings were really good. The steamed pork ribs were also tender and deserves credit. <br/><br/>there’s room to improve the steamed dumpling offering. The siumai was a little tough and I didn’t spot prawn fillings. The shark fin dumplings were ok. Our meal came to $22pp. Would come back for the egg tarts!<br/>*<br/>Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️<br/>Ambience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️<br/>Presentation: ⭐️⭐️⭐️<br/>Price: ⭐️⭐️⭐️<br/>Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had a Peking duck. They cut the meat and wrapped them for us so it took a while for the dish to arrive. The meat was thickly cut, some might like it but not my mother in law who is originally from China. We got some noodles but they didn't mention that it's extra 10 dollars when we ordered. Portuguese tarts were not so great.<br/>Still, I think it was a good value for a whole duck.

Roast duck was delicious and the buns were like little clouds- went perfectly together and definitely will be back for this dish again! Must get a Vietnamese iced coffee if you like your coffees strong and sweet! It was superb!!!! <br/>

The food is good but staff service is very bad. The cashier was very rude. also waiting time for takeaway was too long. I am a food lover and honestly I have nothing against the food here. I would never come back in if I see the same guy cashier today.

We can never go past this place whenever we’re in Richmond. The roast duck here is one of the best in town! They also have a wide range of pastries which are amazing. Love the egg tarts and the sesame balls!

Went to this place on a weekday after lunch. Place was almost empty so had ampule time to decide what we will have. We presented with lunch and dinner menus so tried both. Dumpling and yum cha is nice for the price and was well prepared. We had combination noodle stir fried dish which wasn’t so nice. Waitress try to sell us a pricy crab dish & acted not interested when we enquire about other dishes. There was only one prawn in this seafood dish & that tasted old & off. Special fried rice were lacking of meat & richness. We also ordered a noodle soup dish that has mediocre taste. Place lite up with Christmas style lights & hand written banners of eastern & western mismatch interior. <br/>Overall service, ambiance, taste & food quality against price gives an overall score of 2.6*

<br/>Yum Cha here on Sunday and it was great. A good selection available for those who like meat and seafood. And we love they congee so mush. Service was quick and food was delicious. We all enjoyed our food.
Crabapples For Lunch
This rating is based solely on the BBQ pork puffs (char siew sou) and egg tarts we bought from here. The BBQ pork puff pastry was so good - flaky and golden on the outside, crumbly and moist on the inside. The BBQ pork inside was generous with the crust layer relatively thin - making the consistency of the pastry even more impressive.<br/><br/>The egg tart also had very nice and flaky layers of pastry on the outside, rather than short crust. The egg custard was incredibly balanced between soft and firm.<br/><br/>Would definitely recommend these two here in particular. I'd wager that if these were marketed as part of a new store for the Millennial crowd, it would do so much better than so many of the other new stores in the CBD.

Monday morning had a craving for yum cha. Well Minh Tan is not the place to go. Seriously were the only other table having this and I can see why. We got here at midday - spot on for first service. Did they have some left over from the weekend because that’s as fresh as it seems. And that’s about all I can say. It may be better on the weekend but today it was terrible. My advice is stay away!

This place is big, loud, and oh so busy on just about every night of the week. The waiters and waitresses are nice, but unfortunately don"t have the highest understanding of English so it took a while to explain things (e.g. I don't eat meat but will eat seafood, can we leave this plate but you can take the others, etc)<br/><br/>As for the food, I highly recommend the spinach with garlic. It's so delicious and wish I could have just eaten that all night. We also got a lobster and noodle dish which I didn't particularly enjoy. It was drowning in oil, not many vegetable in it at all, and the lobster was tough and non-flavourful. I also at a fish, scallop and tofu hotpot-style dish. This was quite nice, and I loved the tofu in it also. However, unfortunately it was very oily again and lacked seasonings.<br/><br/>The prawn spring rolls were nice and basic but at least the lettuce and sprouts that accompanied it were fresh and crisp.<br/><br/>Unfortunately, this isn't a place that I will be returning to, but might try their custard buns and bakery goods in the front one day.
Savina
Waaaay too overpriced. We ordered the Shanghai dumplings, stir fried ox tongue and the oyster omelette. Everything was average, certainly not worth the price tag - I don’t mind paying for good food, but this just wasn’t it. <br/><br/>When it came time to pay the bill, we realised the $21.80 ox tongue had been charged as $28.80. When my partner complained, the server pulled out a pen and changed the price on the menu to $28.80, saying this was the new price. He had no intention of refunding the difference until my partner insisted.<br/><br/>All in all, a waste of money especially when there are so many other options on this stretch.

My family and I are obsessed with Minh Tan 2. You know the place is legit when my Asian High EE family loves it. <br/>We usually come for yumcha, no frills and nothing fancy, but delicious and great quality food, great roasts, and absolutely delectable egg tarts. <br/>And all this with the friendliest and most genuine service. <br/><br/>Love love love —> obsessed. <br/><br/>Will be back on the reg. ⭐️

I believe that this place opened not that long ago. To my knowledge this is the only yum Cha place in Richmond along Victoria street. I stumbled into it today. <br/><br/>I needed a quick bite so I only ordered the roast pork and roast duck with rice. My favourite. My yardstick dish!!!!<br/><br/>From the outside the roast stuff looked nice. Neatly displayed. Nice coloured. Shiny and Fresh. I like it. Very unusual to hear this from me. <br/><br/>Another typical setting for a small eatery in Melbourne. Simple but clean. Service is good. He walked past my table then turned around and filled up my tea cup!!! Wow! Not having this done spontaneously for me for centuries. Yum Cha stuffs are pushed around on trolleys. I did not have any but they all look quite presentable, many varieties and guess what.....they are steamy HOT. Have not seen hot dim sims served for a while. <br/>Came my dish. I don’t like rice served using a bowl as a mould. It is just me. The pork taste good with crispy skin. The duck is ok. It is not cooked in the Hong Kong style but ok. Rice is fresh, nicely cooked and the sauce or gravy is very tasty. The serve size is fair. <br/><br/>I give it a 3. I like to return to have a proper meal for lunch, yum Cha and dinner. Then I may modify my review.

I was excited to see that Minh Tan 2 had re-opened with a facelift with new owners, interiors, furniture and shopfront.  It is one of the few trolley service yum cha outside of the City. In the old days we used to get a good feed of yum cha for lunch at about $25 per head.  Word has obviously not got around as there were only about half a dozen tables full at any time on a Wednesday lunch. Whilst the food and service quality is still good we were  surprised when our bill came to $43.50 each!  I don't think that we ordered excessively or expensively and pretty well selected from the trolley.  It may have been a mistake in tallying up the running sheet.  Won't hurry back and if we do, we will be a bit more circumspect! One other thing. The food seemed to be heavy with MSG as my mouth was dry for 24 hours
Mat’s Munchies
Newly renovated restaurant that specializes in Vietnamese and Cantonese cuisine. Randomly ordered Mapo Tofu which wasn’t even on the menu after a quick conversation with the waiter. The quality is always quite consistent here so I knew it would be decent, but I must say it was better than expected. Wasn’t that spicy but it had great flavor and texture, felt really fresh. Will mostly likely order it again next time I’m there. HOT TIP: grab a sweet from the bakery at the front, my favourite is the red bean bun 😋
Mrs Mark
Newly renovated restaurant in the heart of Victoria street. For entree, we had the san choi bow with duck and satay skewers - both solid. For main we had the prawns with mixed veggies (bit too bland) and beef with honey and pepper sauce. The beef was very tender. Extremely attentive service. And the verdict - will we be back? Possibly.
Ilovefoodsomuch
The only Yum Cha in Richmond. The place is not exactly appealing on the visual front it's dark and gloomy but the food is actually not too bad 🤣
Lilmeh
Really confused people who cant even work out whether they accept cards. After much shuffling, and the whole place yelling at each other, they finally worked out they only take cards for payments over $30. It wasnt even a language problem, because I spoke to them in their own language. Unfortunately in this day and age, that type of service is really not very acceptable.
Chris
Amazing yum cha food, there was a queue however the wait wasn't too long. Great service and each table is given a bottle of chilli and soy sauce which never happens at any other yum Cha place. Price was reasonable too, will definitely return!
Luke Martini
Whilst the service at times can leave a lot to be desired, when you do get your order in the food arrives quickly and is tasty indeed. The won ton soups are especially good, but hard to find a bad dish here. Recommended.

This place just reopened after a renovation, which makes the place looks much nicer. The menu is still the same, with daily yum cha with the old-fashion carts, which is really cool. As I was on my own, I chose the BBQ pork with rice noodles.  There was a good amount of pork and tasty. The waiters may need more training though, who brought over the BBQ pork on its own before I informed her that it should come with the rice noodles.
The City Lane
Minh Tan 2 has been around since 1992, and has remained a popular spot throughout the years for a very simple reason. It offers a good range of tasty Vietnamese and Cantonese dishes at an affordable price, at a consistent level every time.
Scrumptious GG
Came here for their yum cha. Ordered shanghai dumpling, shu mai, sticky rice, pork congee, tripe, pork ribs in black bean sauce, chicken feet and deep fried squid tentacles. I love the sticky rice and pork ribs in black bean sauce. Beautifully cooked, and very juicy. Lovely!
Pitted4Lyf
The pick of the bunch on Victoria St.<br/><br/>I eat here quite regularly. After trying a number of different places on Victoria st I have concluded that this is the most consistently good. <br/><br/>The chilli lobster on noodles is a one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten.<br/><br/>Be sure to order the five spice quail, squid and flounder - all three are excellent.
Dom
Revisited Minh Tan 2 after the disappointing experience last time and was quite surprised. The decor is updated and the food quality has improved. Will be back again as I enjoyed the food

Chinese (Cantonese) food Vietnamese version.<br/><br/>Not much fanfare, but quite nicely set up and clean.<br/><br/>Traditional Cantonese fares and BBQ & Roast Pork are good too.<br/><br/>Easy to enjoy over the years.

Cheap n cheerful does the trick! We had the pipis in xo sauce with Chinese donuts, super tender Mongolian beef, fried chicken with chilli n garlic that was roasted (we were expecting deep fried but it was tasty nonetheless), veggies with Chinese mushrooms, and crispy lovely fried pork ribs. Service was friendly and they even gave the birthday boy a deep fried ice cream ball with a sparkler. Nice touch!

My family and I always go here for yumcha so it's definitely a favourite bit this time we ordered the banquet instead for dinner and we were very satisfied with the dishes we chose! So Minh Tan 2 is definitely an option for dinner on Victoria St if you're willing to spend a little more for the quality of good food! The price is bit steeper than your average Victoria St food so just keep that in mind. We have always loved the yumcha at the restaurant! Price point is very good as well.

Today my parents celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary by indulging in a yum cha at Minh Tan 2. I tagged along. The food is so fresh! I don't add soy sauce as I like to enjoy the individual flavors fully. I could tell everything had been made fresh by the distinct flavors and intensity of flavour. We had all our favorites like prawn rice noodle roll, turnip squares, prawn and chive dumplings. The highlight for me was the pork, prawn, ginger dumping that was an absolute taste sensation! Also, the tofu prawn OMG! Talk about gorgeous, silky, super fresh tofu! The staff are very attentive and efficient so great service. Highly recommend yum cha here!

On Victoria St, the humble drip of Chinese Roast duck collects in a metallic pan. The scene has been the same for the past 24 years at Minh Tan 2. The family restaurant sticks strong to its traditional roots, serving authentic Cantonese and Vietnamese cuisine. The fusion scene has exploded in Melbourne. Sure, its fun to eat a sushi taco or caramelised pork belly, but good ol’ cantonese is hard to beat. There’s no obnoxious plating, food is cheap and you count on it being tasty. Minh Tan has a setup of a typical old school Chinese restaurant.  Specials handwritten on colourful paper, fresh seafood in glass tanks and of course – rows of dripping roast duck. Prices are ridiculously cheap, but quality is not sacrificed. Can you believe that diners can get a Lobster Tail banquet for four for a measly $98.80?! (details below). From Yum Cha to peking duck, Minh Tan 2 serves some of the best Chinese in Melbourne. No bells and whistles. Just simple good Chinese.

It's okay. The texture of the dim sum is thick and chewy which is bad. Although they have good customer service. Price is a little expensive where u cn get better yum cha at Gold Leaf
Tiges
We wanted to try Yum Cha somewhere closer to home and I'd heard Minh Tan 2 did a good, unpretentious all day yum Cha... Trolleys came out as we were leaving but before that you can just order off the menu. <br/>The yum Cha is just okay... Nothing to rush back for ... Not when there are other yum cha places that do it better (and still in this price range).
M. T.
Your expected Chinese family restaurant. We have yum cha here regularly not because of the decor or the brilliant service - neither one of which you should really expect but sometimes they might surprise you - but because this place is the epitome of authentic Asian dining without all the whistles and bells. Food is always fresh and never disappoints in terms of taste and quality.
Carol
Food is good and I recon is one of the best yum Cha place in Melbourne .price is also vey reasonable. Only thing need to be improved is the service, staffs seemed to be unhappy all the time.
C
Standard Vietnamese/Chinese fare, although the quality of the ingredients is somewhat lacking in my experience. Not a bad place to eat, but there is better near by.
Chasing A Plate
Posted by Chasing a Plate in Richmond on 17/09/2015. Yum cha at Minh Tanh 2 is what you might call rustic. The pork and shrimp siu mai are chunky, the pork roughly diced and at three to a basket are bigger than usual (not complaining). The rice noodles in the cheong fun (rice noodle rolls) are a little thick and lack a certain silky slipperiness. And the filling in the har gow is slightly stiff, the prawn a touch overcooked. But where the dim sum lack in delicateness, it makes up for in flavour.
Jack Chrapot
We just keep coming back to this establishment <br/><br/>When we introduce friends here they just can't believe how good it is<br/><br/>The food is great and the service although not overly friendly is very quick and efficient
Food Baby
Should you find yourself with a little space in your stomach while wandering down Victoria St at 9pm on a week day night, and are feeling like something small, quick, cheap and delicious to fill that space, pop by Minh Tan 2 for an hot egg custard bun. Space no more!
Purple Monkey
Overall theSunday mroning Yum cha was affordable and tasty. There were a few hit and miss dishes and I would have liked a few vegetarian options to choose from. The tea was hot and the prawn dumplings were delicious.
Jason Chan
Best Yum Cha hands down at very affordable prices. Me and the Mrs love going here on Sunday to cure hang overs with tea and Chinese dim sum. Highly recommended. Baked Oysters are a must try!
Mochaccino
Worse dim sum I have had. My first and will be only time here. I have never had to return a dim sum dish to the kitchen before, I did here. The pork spare ribs and dim sum fillings were the cheap and fattening cuts not of quality. If you say dim sum here are good you hadn't had better.
Decisive Cravings
Minh Tan II has been around since the early 90s, and we’ve been going there that long. Over the last two decades the one thing Minh Tan II do well, apart from the delicious Vietnamese/Chinese food, is their consistency – the old chestnut that makes people come back for more. What we come here for are the delicious Yum Cha spreads on the weekends. Think all kinds of precious dumplings, like mixed seafood, scallop, and chicken and prawn, or delicacies like the prawn and bean curd (so silky and melt in your mouth), or the ginger prawn dumplings in a beautiful light gravy/broth. If it’s an evening affair, we highly recommend trying the steamed oysters which they do with a range of sauces. Minh Tan II also deal in live seafood, but we have not been brave enough to venture there. However, if seafood is not your thing the BBQ roasts are a great option, with all the usual suspects: duck, pork and chicken awaiting the cleaver, as well as Peking Duck. And when you’re orderin

How does one differentiate itself from some 30 other Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants in the same stretch of street? One way is to offer something the others don't have - Yum Cha. However, if a restaurant does offer something different, that something needs to be good or it might tar the rest of the offerings from that very restaurant. Minh Tan 2 has survived on Victoria Street for a very long time, so, it must be doing something right. The ala carte offerings are pretty good here, but the highlights are the BBQ meats. The yumcha while passable is limited in terms of range. The biggest let down is the completely uninterested service. If you can actually put up with that - you should be fine, otherwise, takeaway or pick one of the others along the stretch on Victoria Street.
Marc Unger
Another of Minh Tanh’s strong suits is their liberal steamed rice policy. Where some of the street’s other establishments opt to charge a few dollars per individual serve forcing you to ration out the staple, MT2 provides you with a seemingly endless bucket of the stuff. While this was irrelevant for Midge who is carb free since ’93, it was graciously received by the rest. The sizzling beef and bok choi proved to be the perfect foil for this abundance of rice. The tender beef provided an ideal balance of flavour between the sweetness of the honey a

Avoid avoid avoid, food has no taste, is Shanghai duming is dry and tasteless, much better options outside for sure as the food here is not eatable and staff not interested only yelling out to each other in Chinese

Terrible Foodcourt style food.<br/>Don't bother!

Good weekend YumCha.. Great hangover killer.

Yum lunch. Mid week lunch and It was pretty quiet, A boy's lunch with a couple of bottles of red was happening at another table. Efficient service, not over-friendly, but certainly no complaints. I love quail and after several months of testing it along Victoria Street it would have to rate right up there. Maybe because it is that deep fried indulgence but I love it (and I never have deep fried but one has to make an exception). My friend had the Peking pork ribs on rice and enjoyed those too.
Food For Life
I love the yum cha here Gre.... I love the yum cha here<br/>Great food<br/>Small but nice
DP
You have to put aside the fact your eatting on butcher paper. Water is served out of recycled plastic juice bottles that still have the sticker on them and plastic hard plates. Why.... Because the food is good!
Yuming Ma
Average food, yum cha bit salty but ok price
Tim
Dumplings were awesome and service good to. We came early before they were busy.
HANGRYmonster
Best place for yum cha on vic street, hands down. Average staff but delicious food. Definately a favourite.
Troy Anderson
Rude staff, not a comfortable place to hang out, food was not bad. Will not come back for sure!

Quail, crispy skin pork, pork buns... Byo booze...<br/>This place is now my favourite in the area. Loved, loved, loved. Will be back for sure.
David Food Leasing
Fk yeah. Cheap and cheerful. Can't go past the chicken ribs, xo pipi with donut.

Seafood at this place is amazing. Weekend yum cha was great and hassle free too!
TasteBuds
Best Chinese food I've had in a very long time. The crispy garlic chicken with chilli - amazing. We'll be back for sure.
CAP
The yum cha was very disappointing, the dumplings were ok (not great but edible) but the deep fried food was pretty gross and the turnip cake was far from nice. Also $30 minimum on visa. No eftpos

BYOB what more can you ask for

Yum cha n Vietnamese. Great yum cha....interestingly a number of single women and women groups....basic staples well served hot and fresh
Hungry Danbo
Honey BBQ pork - tough and fatty, total waste of money.

Just nice. Prior to this, we normally frequent Gold Leaf and Plume for Yum Cha. Minh Tan 2 is kinda like a blend of good things from either establishment. It's not overcrowded, fairly priced, not stiff and of course - the food is good on most counts.

Renovate recently and gave this place another go after a few years away from the place.  This used to be a weekly icon for the family and we visited this place almost weekly.<br/><br/>Food: Good lunchtime menu offering Cantonese and Chinese variety<br/>Service:  Seemed to be consistent and was also serving Yum Cha which was reasonable (but not as much variety as some)<br/>Decor:  Renovated and now appears to be clean and sleeker than it used to be...but we were coming from a low base.<br/><br/>Overall, worth a try.   Lunch time menu is good value.<br/><br/>Al a carte menu is good but prices are not rock bottom.<br/><br/>Duck and Pork (cha siu) worthwhile but not huge serves.<br/><br/>Pork Buns - very nice.<br/><br/>Give it a go as you will not be disapointed.
HungryCBDstudent
The BBQ meats here are the best on the street it trades on. The crispy pork is perfect with layers of extremely juicy and tender fat and meat. According to my sister the roast duck is to die for. Their cooked dishes are all tasty at an amazing price. Give it a go!!!
Sanpedro667
I can put up with indifferent service if the food is good, but it wasn't. Beef with lemongrass and chilli, with a warning on the menu that it was Hot, was devoid of any spiciness and was filled out with big chunks of onion. The duck was average. Basically the food is edible, but there are much better options on Victoria St.
MyWisdomTeethHurt
7.75/10 - Delicious Yum Cha. My favourite restaurant for Yum Cha on a Sunday morning or dinner on a Saturday night. The seafood is fresh and absolutely delicious. The Yum Cha is traditional and is well priced. The service isn't too flash, sometimes you need to repeat yourself but other than that, eating here is always an enjoyable experience. The menu offers a good variety of food and everything I've tried has left me wanting more. Two thumbs up! <br/><br/>Food: 10/10<br/>Service: 7/10<br/>Ambience: 7/10<br/>Price: 7/10

I've been living in Australia for 20 years now and nothing reminds me of home quite like the food here. The duck is always a delight to have - a special treat for the kids. The yum cha is perfect for lunch time get togethers with friends or family. Always delicious! :D

Attack of the clones. Is it racist if you say that all Asian restaurants on Victoria Street look the same? I don’t really care either way – I needed to look at Street Level on Google Maps for 10 minutes to remember the name. The fact is that they’re mostly BYO and almost all elicit as much salivation as they do trepidation.<br/>Minh Tanh is an unspectacular, not unpleasant yum-cha eatery with the typical cast of characters – the well dressed, more mature gentleman who is solely responsible for oversight; the well-practised mother-figure salesperson encouraging you to buy things you hadn’t planned on; the naive, probably student-visa-possessing waiter who looks at the floor for fear of catching the eye of a customer who engages him in conversation using a tongue with which he isn’t familiar. <br/>The food is ok – that’s as far as i'm prepared to go.<br/>I can’t say Minh Tanh is better than the other Victoria Street restaurants, but it’s by no means the worst. It’s probably personal opinion that will decide the enjoyment factor more than any magnificent menu or sparkling service. My opinion wasn't negative, but not overly positive either.
Purple Bear
Mixed. We visited Minh Tan for a mid week yumcha. I'm a lover of yum cha so know the difference between good and bad. There are some good dishes as well as some which were below average. It's a bit hit and miss but overall, not too bad. There's not much competition for yumcha joints on Victoria St so for that reason, we may return.
Kathleen Stibbard
Kasho. I have been going here for 20yrs approx and find the food fresh and always delicious.<br/>You do need to book. The Peking duck is delish, as is the bbq pork from the window.<br/>If you decide in the lobster this is THE best in a light ginger sauce yum.

Shockingly awful!

Richmond delight!. It was a big, festive cultural celebration at Minh Tan with lots of family and friends. We were well looked after and enjoyed rounds of mud crab, seared pork, steamed barramundi and asian sweets. Will be back again soon.
Famishedfoody
This place puts the YUM in yum cha!. We have been going here for at least six years and it is always great. More relaxed mid week but not as many varieties to choose from. Sundays offer the full deal, try the ginger prawns and stuffed bean curd with pork and prawn, make sure you have room for the deep fried squid. All the dumplings from the basic to the superior are all top notch. If you feel like duck or bbq sweet pork order it from one of the older waiters that way it will be hot as the young ones tend to walk around in a dream letting these dishes go cold as they are not in the steam trolley. The silky rice noodles also a winner, best to arrive 11am on Sundays this will ensure a seat!
Enthusiastic Diner
Best yum cha ever!!! My husband hasn't been there for over 10 years, and still after all these years a fantastic Asian and yum cha restaurant. It is fantastically priced. After we received the bill we considered round two :)! A must try.
Jimmy D
Love to hate it. Pretty good consistent food - although the quality of the duck can be hit and miss. Have had some of the best duck ever and some complete crap - bones and dry meat. You just say " no thanks " and they will fix it up. We go here quite often so it helps to know the score regarding service. It is hilarious how rude some of the staff can actually be. I just dish it straight back now which can make for a fun night. Overall pretty good.
Trang Bang
Best yumcha!. This is probably the best yumcha in melbourne. I am a regular there, as I live close to Richmond. There's also a Gold Leaf Yumcha in Preston but their chicken feet isn't nice there, it's too bland and flavourless. <br/><br/>If you go to Minh Tan, you HAVE TO TRY their chicken feet, They make the BEST chicken feet ever :-) Totally recommend this place to anyone! Prices are average, my boyfirend and I always go together and on average we always spend about $40 or even less and we are FULL. I don't reccomend those all you can eat yumcha's, they can't be good :/ fresh is best!
Seaberry_girl
Bloody Terrific. I've never had much of a taste for Chinese food, but boy did this place change my mind about it. Friendly staff and a great manager, whose always cracking jokes with you - top bloke in my opinion. The food was delicious, I took some eggs custard tarts home for the kids and they loved it. Highly recommended.
Linda
Awful. The worst service I ever had, and I do not recommend people to go there.
Pamela Gruddon
BEST CHINESE/VIETNAMESE DINING. Without a doubt one of my all-time favourite places to dine out. I love like, the kids adore the owner (Hong! white hair, cant miss him), and everyone else seems to be a fan as well. You can not go past the Soy Chicken and Pork hanging delectably in the window and also the pork buns! Make sure you get in early for yum-cha and book for dinners because this place is on everyone's "go-to" list of reliable, quality restaurants that don't break the bank. Be sure to try the mud crab, oysters with black bean sauce and deep fried ice-cream! Take the whole family, it will be an absolute treat for everyone!
Kim
Shit hole!Terrible service, soggy BBQ Duck, more bone than duck. Dodgy dim sims & rude staff threw plates at us we didnt ask 4. Couldn't get out fast enough !
Racy_jacy
Among the very best yum cha spots in Melbourne! But still decently priced!! Be sure to book a table, or you could be waiting for a while - it's too popular!!

Worst service ever!!! Staff were rude and misleading about portion sizes and the menu. Meals were extremely average and overpriced for what they were. Waited 45 minutes for our main course. Will not be returning.
