Review Veneziano Coffee - Richmond

Thomas Lim
This venue is massive and it has a micro roastery which means they roast their beans themselves on-site which leads to a fantastic coffee being served. The venue itself is super spacious and the high ceilings and decor make it a fantastic place to sit down and relax. They have a few pastries on site to enjoy with your coffee as well. Would recommend and would definitely come back

Overall nice cafe with a wonderful organic industrial interior. I went with a friend on Saturday at lunch time. Parking was easy to find and service was quite fast which is a plus. I had the chicken + corn dish and a coffee. Chicken was tasty but the corn was a bit awkward to eat. The coffee was decent but the taste could have been a little bit stronger

I enjoyed the varieties of coffee, and food and service were also good. We had a couple of very helpful attentive staff helping us buy some coffee which was appreciated. It has a good vibe, and the venue is big, full of natural light with high ceilings and industrial decor and very clean. Definitely an option whenever I’m in the area.

I had a barista brekkie consisting of 3 coffee beverages done in 3 ways: espresso, milk based and filter. Each cup was from a different microlot and the quality was outstanding. Barista’s execution was flawless and each cup was more delicious than the next. The experience as a whole could have been much better though. The space is huge and you feel lost in it when sitting at a small bar in front of the barista station. He had no time to chat about these wonderful coffees due to the fast customer traffic. It’s great that the cafe is so busy but offering these specialty coffee experiences requires a dedicated approach. Aunty Peg, Ona and other smaller brew bars in Melbourne succeeded in this and I am sure Veneziano can too

The range of food on offer was good and the coffee was delicious. However, the seating in this place has got to be the worst thing I've ever been subjected to in any restaurant! You can see from the photos they are a flat wooden base, which is painful enough in itself. But they also have these horrible metal frame arms on them, with a pointed end that jutts out and stabs you in the thigh. They are built for super tiny people with no hips. I was in agony the whole time I was there and was forced to sit on the very edge of the seat. Not one server asked me if I was comfortable and just stepped around my seat which was sticking a fair way into the aisle because of how I had to sit. Take away only, if I ever come again!

Veneziano Coffee is a beautiful indoor space with good outdoor seating options too. A large cabinet of treats and the menu here has improved a lot since my last visit 3 years ago. The food is actually worth a visit for now! Coffee here is ok too. Service has also improved and is friendly now and prompt. Worth a visit

Got a takeaway coffee. The taste and smell of the coffee were excellent. Good roastery.

Fantastic, more than a 3rd wave coffee place the food and staff are top notch. The coffee is great, they have a huge variety and lots of detail, including tasting notes making the experience more like a cellar door than a Cafe. The food is great and very well priced (if anything it is cheaper than expected given the quality), the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly and the space is well thought out with a cool yet friendly vibe. If you are a coffee fan or just want a good brunch place to visit, give Veneziano a go.

If you want to have a good, or even a very good coffee ...

This is the place to go.

Imagine, having your own gigantic in-house coffee roaster and your coffee is not that good?

Thank God this place is good, very good.

When it comes to coffee, precision and consistency are the key, the word "precision" is clearly stated on their takeaway coffee cups too.

Yes, their pastry and food are good too. Formidable menu and it comes with a bottomless coffee now, how good is that.

For dining in, must reserved prior arrival (on Instagram) post Covid-19.

Enjoy.

Overall score: 21/25 or ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What you should order: prawn squid ink croquettes
*
Review: I honestly first stumbled upon veneziano in the leafy suburbs of surry hills. The branch at Richmond was originally a coffee roasting warehouse but it has since rightfully evolved into a full-fledged brunch place a year ago.

Coffee was obviously excellent - quite aligned with their tagline of finding coffee that people would talk about. Similar to most places, coffee in a cup does get cold pretty quickly, so I always ask for it to be extra hot to counter that risk.

It really depends on what you order here and to me, the prawn and squid croquette was a clear winner! Pickled cabbage, paired with well-executed croquette was a breath of fresh air to the Melbourne brunch scene. The river street Benedict was also pretty good - well-executed potato rosti and very fresh smoked salmon. Portions were just enough for me, but perhaps a bit too little for a hungry man!

All in all, I love the cafe ambience (large coffee warehouse space where you can watch coffee beans being roasted). Service was also pretty good. It’s been a while since I had a commendable brunch, so I call this a #citaymusteat
*
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ambience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Presentation: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Price: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nice fit out and the staff we come across were friendly. I had the chilli scrambled eggs which I thought were delicious but others on the table were not raving. Eggs Benedict ok, breakfast burger ok and one of the avocados were as brown as and had to be taken back which they did no dramas. $8.50 for an O.J although very nice and fresh is pushing it. 3.5/5

What a beautiful venue, perfect for a great work meeting with coffee being roasted in the background, delicious food and great music, just all around good vibes 💖!

Pictured is the Smashed Avocado (goats curd, pickled green tomatoes, sumac and fresh mint) & Skim Latte

I loved this place. Tucked away in Richmond in a massive coffee roasting warehouse. I loved the layout, the deco and the atmosphere, it was right up my street. It looks like they also do coffee classes, I would say it’s worth a visit just to look inside!

The staff were ace, the food was tasty and I full enjoyed my brunch!
We ordered the broccoli which came with a green hummus with add ons of mushrooms and poached eggs. Both eggs were perfect. And the broccoli was well cooked and seasoned.

The pancakes were MEGA. Full stack of sweetness. The pancakes were fluffy, the caramel sauce was sweet and sticky, the snow foam was delicious and a nice addition.

Both dishes looked fab, both tasted great and the whole brunch was the quality I expect in Melbourne.

Would definitely visit again, even if it’s just for a coffee and a sit in a very impressive cafe.

Beautifully designed, spacious and open. It’s a venue you want to take out-of-towners to check out the Melbourne coffee roasting scene.

There are clear windows you can see all the roasting going on, and also learning stations.

There’s also a very interesting all day menu, with something for everyone.

The house filter comes in a handle-less ceramic mug. Looks good, but a little hot to hold.

It’s fruity, and a little on the sour side, but there’s a range of other beans to choose from.

The roastery café is a little bit difficult to get to, but worth driving to for the experience.

Great space. Easy parking. Good service. Coffee on the weak side.

Very spacious venue with cool ambiance. Had a cup of batch brew, came in a big bowl. The bowl doesn't have a handle and it was too hot to pick it up😅
It's not bad, but I didn't get the hype everyone is getting.

Batch brew coffee is really good. Chilli scrabbles eggs and baked eggs are the ones to go for. They are so delicious. Staff were friendly and the whole place looks gorgeous!

Check out this place on your way to Ikea Richmond!

Great coffee, great food, great ambiance.

They have all sorts of type of coffee, as well as milkshake for kids.

We tried the Cubano Sandwich. However, Pork was abit oily, but other than that, we enjoy it.

Cool cafe in a spacious warehouse. Interesting menu and nice coffee. I had the mushrooms with goats cheese, sweet potato chips and seaweed on toast. It was quite nice but I felt the dish was a little bit dry. Could have done with an egg or some kind of maybe.

This is really a roasting house that has a wonderful trade of regulars and passerbys who enjoy good coffee ad their cafe section. You can sit and watch how the coffee is roasted and how the process works. There are barristas' everywhere plus there is a coffee tasting room.
Today I had a burger with chips and pickles on the side. Very nice. Good portion size and fresh tasting ingredients. My friend had the scrambled eggs which were good as well.Did find the menu a little limiting though.
Staff are very helpful and seem to know many of their regulars by name. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Pram/stroller accessible. Reasonable parking. Dietaries catered for. Takeaway food available .

This was a good experience!
I only found this through researching good coffee places as this venue is tucked away in a side street in a semi- industrial area and I’m so glad that I went there.
It is where the coffee is roasted on a very large scale and the cafe area I’ve very large as well with a good modern ambience and friendly service.
I tried the cold drip coffee first which was good and then the food, which was well presented and very yummy. Followed by an espresso that was superb, while my wife had a very good chai tea.
We will be back!

Super cool boutique coffee bean roastery tucked in behind the Yarra trail. The coffee has a wonderful depth of flavour. You can look at the roasting machinery behind a window which is a nice touch.

Really great open modern space, and good food to match. Chill scrambled and smashed avo both top notch. The side of goats curd was amazing and a great elevator for the chili scramble. Coffee was cold and we had to send it back but there was no issues and it was changed quickly. Hidden off the main streets but worth the effort to visit. Will go back for sure.
Came here for lunch today with family, absolutely incredible atmosphere, very clean without feeling sterile, amazing quality food, generous portion sizes, exceptional service, very reasonable prices and toilets cleaner than a 5 star hotel. I cannot recommend this place enough. By far one of the best places I’ve eaten at in Melbourne. Check it out!

Very impressed with this place. Food was wonderful. I had the pancakes with salted caramel and it was amazing! Everything was great but the food took quite a while to come out. Nearly an hour. Was worth the wait but had to eat quickly because of parking!

Visited for the first time and what an amazing brunch spot! An amazing menu, bringing restaurant style dishes to a cafe feel venue.
Calamari was perfectly cooked, and perfect with a refreshing salad on a warm day. Next time will add the egg to make the dish go a little further. The barrumandi was amazing - so soft, with beautiful crispy skin and worked so well with the broth.
Highly recommend a visit!

I really like how bright and spacious this place is and the coffee was good too. However the service we received last Sunday from one of the younger girls was terrible. I wanted a pastry or donut so I went up to the counter to see what they and there were no descriptions as to what the pastries actually were. I asked the girl serving us our coffees and you she got pretty sour because I dared to ask her a question that she evidently didn't know - sorry to inconvenience you.

Large and beautiful space that smells of freshly roasted coffee. Had no idea these facilities were hidden in Richmond's back streets, but so glad I found it. I started with a soy flat white that was not extra hot as requested, but otherwise nice. (Perhaps hot soy curdled with their beans?) For a main, I had the asparagus, pesto, straciatella and poached egg on sourdough. Oh my god, it was delectable. Looked small but was so satisfying. I'm a huge straciatella fan (who doesn't love salty, stringy cheese?), but that wasn't what made the dish. The real highlight was the pesto, as it contained jalapeno which gave it the subtlest spice. Would love to see jalapeno replace some of the chilli on brunch menus!

Went there during a hot summer day. Can’t decide what filter coffees to get and the waiters just suggest why not both. I got the Kenya and Ethiopian variety. Both are really fruity and has a nice body ( I prefer the Ethiopian one which has a good acidity in it). For brunch I got the pancake with bacon, cheese and maple syrup. Unlike the other brunch place I went, the pancake here were not overly sweet and the saltiness from the bacon and cheese really make it a good this

Consistently good coffee, great food and great options. Staff are attentive and friendly. The chilli scrambled eggs were amazing! Definitely a local fave.

Beautiful converted space within the Veneziano coffee roastery & warehouse. If you can't decide what to drink, the barista breakfast is a great showcase of their various coffees. After eating here a couple times, the star of the menu is definitely the Cubano with the perfect mix of pork, cheese and spicy acidity from the pickled guindilla peppers. Be prepared to wait on the weekend but it's worth it!

This place on River Street at the industrial end of Richmond was recommended to me as a great place for coffee and food.

So I called in today to see what this place was like. The service was friendly, and ok overall.

My piccolo latte was a bit disappointing to be honest. It tasted watery and weak. I was expecting or at least hoping for a really good coffee in this coffee roasting factory.

Foodwise I had scrambled eggs which were creamy, but they lacked seasoning. The sourdough toast was really good.

Overall it was a ok.

My new favourite place! Coffee is on point. Food is yummy and the staff are genuinely happy make your experience a positive one. I have been here twice since it opened, if I lived closer I’d be there nearly every weekend. Worth a visit for sure!

5 Star for the coffee, vibe, and service.
3 Star for the food - got the chilli scrambled eggs. Small, bread was hard, and scrambled egg wasn’t silky.
Can't comment on the food as I've only ordered a small takeaway flat white. Coffee was smooth, but seem to lack body even for a small 5oz(?) cup.

On side note, team was friendly and love the space available.

Coffee is excellent! Bond St is well balanced and not too milky. The batch brew is delicious as well and the bottomless is just bonus. Food is however disappointing. It was not hot, and the portion is little and the price is very high. We ordered the potato rosti and it was very tough and tasteless. Cubano was again cold with a price of 20 AUD! French toast was however very delicious. Hope they will improve their food and I might come back again.

Like their coffee, both Bond st and Bella are nice, we only had coffee because just had lunch at another restaurant, I will try their food next time

Coffee, coffee and more coffee. These guys don’t mess around and their barista breakfast was a selection of carefully picked flavours. I was mind blown by their milk coffee and their house espresso. Will be back again 👍🏻

Coffee was really nice, but could have been a little hotter. They also didn’t have any almond milk. Food was really nice fresh and light. We had the beef burger and the potato rosti. Staff were lovely and friendly

Great new place in Richmond.
The food and naturally the coffee was brilliant.
Service was very friendly and prompt.
Great vibe, great atmosphere and will quickly become a favourite, if not already, of Richmond’s. Well done.

Oh, and I know it’s good because I forgot to take photos of the food because I was so excited to just devour my meal. 👍🏼

**3.5 stars** I love the fact that you can see part of the actual roastery right off the bat, when you walk into this building. The space itself is huge with a super high ceiling and beautiful greenery placed around the area. The look is modern and simple, with a long coffee bar situated in the middle. The coffee itself, I found to be strong and smooth (but served in a rather small cup...) The pressed orange juice was served in a tall thin glass with lots of ice cubes… so with a few sips, it was all gone. It was delicious, but I don’t think I would pay $8.5 for that again. Anyway, the menu has quite a lot of options, including the classics. We ordered the Brioche French toast which was the almost the perfect sweetness (maybe a little less salted caramel and the plate would have been the bee’s knees!). The Chilli scrambled eggs came highly recommended by one of the waiters. It had an interesting taste with the addition of the chorizo crumbs and crispy sage. Unfortunately, the bottom ends of my sourdoughs were burnt. Overall, there’s a nice vibe to this place. The food can be improved though. NOTE: The kitchen closes 1 hour before closing time.

A really great space & super attentive staff. The meal was a little disappointing. I had the salmon which was lovely but the egg was" just" poached, the rosti flowery, the toast underwhelming & the plates cold. Think I will give them a little time to gel before revisiting

Richmond’s newest coffee roaster cafe has a great fit out set in a large warehouse with super high ceilings and giant windows letting in maximum light and give the place a grand feel. We visited on a rainy and windy Sunday in August for lunch with a group of 5 and had a 10 - 15 minute wait. The floor staff were very polite and helpful but I noticed some were still trying to find their groove on the team. The variety and flavors of coffee was really good and Japanese style mugs were cute. The food itself was quite enjoyable; we tried the chilli scrambled eggs with crispy chorizo crumb and fried sage, Salmon eggs Benedict, breakfast brioche burger and eggs on toast. Will come back next time for the smashed avocado, Hamburger and coffee

Food is nice. Coffee a little weak and muddy. Make sure to wear warm clothes as it’s a very cold inside. Sweet treats/pastry are a good option as is the fresh juice.

Great space with a well lit industrial feel. Staff were friendly and the coffee was good, however, unfortunately the food did not meet expectations. I had the chicken schnitzel and my gf had the granola. Whilst the coating of the schnitzel was nice the chicken tasted very rubbery and was almost undercooked. Similarly, the granola was no better than out of a packet. Hopefully the cafe can invest in some better quality food as this place has potential.
