ordered from here twice. both times on point. the condiment are all there plus some. pho broth is tasty but just a bit fatty. maybe cut down on the fat. but food is onpoint
Probably the best Pho I've had in Melbourne. I prefer to add a bit of chilli and Hoi Sin a la Hanoi and leave the bean sprouts off. Not quite as strong as the stock in Pho joints in Vietnam, but certainly passable and great if you need "Vietnamese Penicillin". Pho is the Vietnamese as chicken soup is to the Jewish! Both are awesome if you have a bit of a sniffle! Spring rolls here are great too!
With the unexpected (and very sad) closure of Thy Thy, I was on the hunt for the next best broken rice in Richmond, along the semi-decimated strip of Victoria Street.
I ordered the Special Grilled Pork Broken Rice as a takeaway. It was packed sturdily which made its transport home uneventful.
The broken rice was well cooked. The pickled vegetables were crunchy and not too sour - my taste buds had a good time. The star of the dish was the grilled pork which was tender and tasty. Everything tasted fresh and service was friendly enough (though slightly robotic).
So while I'm still pining for Thy Thy's broken rice special, Pho Chu Thai's version is an okay replacement for now.....
Pho Chu Thai has been open for over a year now. It’s one of the Vietnamese restaurants on Victoria Street that is often overlooked which is a shame. I come here a lot with family and friends because honestly, the standard is up to par with most of the restaurants on the same street. The price is a tad cheaper too. I find this place makes a fantastic fried flounder with spicy salt and pepper and you can’t go wrong with the fried quail. Maybe it’s the interior design that’s putting people off? The lighting is dim with minimal decorations and there’s a big, long mirror that covers one side of the wall. Service is pretty much what you can expect from Vietnamese restaurants in Melbourne - so so. Other than that, I can’t really fault this place. Come here for Vietnamese food!
Craving rice, and Richmond not being far from where I was, I decided to give Pho Chu Thai a go. I ordered the Vietnamese staple "Broken Rice". The pork chop was flavoursome and the Nuoc mam married well with the dish. Soup came out without me asking which is a plus! Definitely would come back!
We passed Victoria street, North Richmond on the way back and it was lunch time; whatelse the options that you have the most other than Vietnamese restaurants. This time we would try the new restaurant. From outside, it looked okay and nothing fancy. When we came, we felt very comfortable as we had a warm welcome from the customer staff and the place was very clean. The ambience was very nice and the customer staff threw few jokes to us.
We ordered :
* Rice vermicelli with grilled chicken and spring rolls for $11.00. (complementary chicken soup)
The rice vermicelli had great taste and spring rolls served were very fresh. It had a great value of dish, the taste was great served with absolutely fresh ingredients and the grilled chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked. It's really recommended dish by considering of the price (cheaper than average), quality and taste.
* Special grilled pork broken rice for $11.00. (complementary chicken soup)
The broken rice served with grilled pork, shredded pork, and Vietnamese dish bì (thinly shredded pork mixed with cooked and thinly shredded pork skin).Grilled pork had great taste, perfectly cooked and it wasn't oily.Unfortunately, the shredded pork served on side was very dry and slightly tasteless. Other than that, we really enjoyed the dish.
Today the winner was rice vermicelli with grilled chicken and spring rolls!!
Yay : Service was great, grilled pork was perfectly cooked and had great taste, complementary chicken soup

Food was absolutely delicious. They used fresh and quality ingredients in our Pho. The crispy prawns were cooked well and had great flavour. Staff were helpful and attentive. The venue itself was very clean- everything from the tables, cutlery and menus were spotless. You can tell they put a lot of effort into their family restaurant and have pride in it.
Decent service and good food. Pho noodles were nice and smooth and the broth was good. However, for $12 I could have gotten a better deal elsewhere. Also, I found the restaurant decor outdated.
Good service and excellent food. Been here many times. Tried all popular food: noodles, yellow pancake, cold noodles dishes, white ice coffee, fruits drinks etc. Always nice.
Enjoyed a nice relaxing fresh lunch at Thanh Tam. Service was fast and I ordered the entree of pork springrolls which were served with iceberg lettuce and fish sauce.
I also had the Rice Vermicelli with Shredded Pork and Spring roles which was very refreshing along with the Rice Vermicelli with Beef Betel leaf. The beef wrap was slightly dry so a little disappointing.
The overall highlight was the three colour drink which consists of crushed ice , coconut milk with mung beans and 'green noodles' which are made from water chestnut starch. This is a highly recommended for those hot Melbourne days. - EK
The chef is a master, I can't stop thinking about the taste. So good and the staff know what to do. I highly recommend to try their signature dishes. And of course Pho. I encourage people to try something that they haven't had. I mean you're a dingo if you order spring rolls and the like without being a bit adventurous, or you don't know what you are missing!!
One of the best Pho Da Bien Love have have had yet.
Enjoyed the meal with my friend and we drank beer and ate satay beef with special fried rice and spring rolls and the waiter was nice and helpful.
I will certainly be returning and be recommending this venue for a wonderful, fresh and economical meal.
Great value and quality Vietnamese food, we had a fantastic feast and thoroughly enjoyed our meals will definitely be back
