We’ve tried this place twice, once for lunch and once for bbq dinner.
We really liked how homey ans generously portioned the food is. My favourite was the stirfry pork. It packs a punch of spice. The egg soup was savory and smooth. Perfect with rice.
The bbq is good too. The charcoal bbq gives smoky and aromatic meat but ventilation was good enough. The beef rib was very tender and the pork belly was flavourful. I was delighted to see intestines on the menu. They also give you a basket of shredded lettuce which goes really well with the fatty meat.

The spicy crab was ok, it satisfied the cravings but was a little expensive.
Their banchan is a little different, which is quite refreshing.

3.5/5 There are many Korean BBQ restaurants in West Ryde and nearby suburb Eastwood. I have often gone to Stoneage and the Barn several times before so I thought I'd check out Mapo Charcoal BBQ for the first time for something different. I've walked past this Mapo Charcoal BBQ often when I used to live in West Ryde. Mapo Charcoal BBQ is located on Victoria Rd. As I walk in, I see most of the tables being filled by Koreans so I hope this is a good sign.

Came here with a few mates during the weekend for apparently was one of the ‘best Gamjatangs in Sydney!’ . I think the flavour of the soup was on par to that of Kogi in Haymarket. However the meat was chunkier and more tender here (with bits of bone marrow here and there). My friend also recommended the dumplings, which I happily contended that it was pan fried to perfection.
