Fishing on the beach at Surfers Paradise till 7pm tonight and I am feeling the cold. I decide on a bowl of hot soup noodles at Pho Hung. I order the Combination Pho Dac Biet ($13.80) with extra meat ($3).
Seeing the large serve of fresh salad and herbs I know this Chef will serve me a quality Beef Pho. I wait over 20 minutes for my order. Finally, my meal is served steaming hot and I quickly add the sprouts, basil, chilli and lemon juice. The soup is very good, hot and flavoursome and the silky smooth noodles are delicious. There is a large serve of sliced beef, raw beef, beef balls and beef tendon. No beef tripe. The raw beef is very fresh and tender.
This is a quality Beef Pho and my big appetite is sated. I rate it 4.5/5.0! Thank you Pho Hung!
Surprisingly this restaurant is quite good. Their ‘pho’ (beef noodle soup) is pretty good and authentic. The noodles portion is a bit small. Their rice dishes are not bad either.
The smoothies are not that great, so just stick to the pho.
The place is quite clean for an asian eatery. I gave an extra half star for cleanliness of the toilet ;)
Lovely place that I've been coming to every time that I visit the Goldie since the min 1990s when it was first the ambitious Saigon Palace. Changed hands at least 3 times that I can tell, but the food concept remains the same, old school Vietnamese done well with a lot of variety (much more than most). Prices are very remain reasonable and most likely the best Vietnamese that you'll find on the coast. Be glad that such variety can still be found when most Vietnamese now specialize in Pho, would give it 4.5 if they still had bun rieu and if the staff were a little more attentive.
