loved every minute, what a fantastic find on Fitzroy Street!
Came with 50% off on Dimmi and had an amazing experience! The service was very affable and jovial! We loved the house made bread that started the night (we were cheeky and refilled 3 times and they didn’t deny us!) The Kingfish had lovely flavours with the grapefruit although the texture of crunchy celery on the fish was a bit out of place. The standout small dishes was the quail on top of a “porridge” mash (which I sussed out is parsnip) is ridiculously creamy! The pork belly was also so tender and a generous portion for a small plate. Unfortunately, they forgot our order for the lamb shoulder which was recommended by the waiter. Even though, we went on a Dimmi reservation they were still willing to comp the dish due to the delay -above and beyond service! The pumpkin and goats cheese risotto had great flavour but was missing the crunchy element of hazelnuts which was included on the menu. When we told the waiter, he seemed a bit confused and said he would ask the chef. We enjoyed the dish anyway. For so much quality food for under $50 for two people, we can’t complain! This is a place with funky decor and delicious quality food! Will be back to try the Mulloway and fresh pasta next time 😉
A great neighbourhood gem revived by new owners Lachie and John. Tolarno’s decor is beautiful, warm and inviting. To top of off their food is exceptional! We visited this place in a group and tried a lot of the menu (because we couldn’t decide) and everything was amazing - pumpkin risotto, pork belly, sirloin, Mulloway filet and eggplant ragu to name a few. We will definitely be back!
