I really enjoy coming to this place for all-you-can-eat rice paper rolls and have come a few times even though North Strathfield is a bit out of the way for me.
Those expecting a Vietnamese-style rice paper roll (the more commonly known ones) will be a bit surprised because these are wollamsam - Korean-style rice paper rolls with more variety of fillings and with different flavours too (including pineapple which I'd never seen in rice paper rolls before).
It's only $22 per person for dinner ($20 for lunch, although I've only ever gone dinner myself) and it's generally not too busy so you can eat in comfort. Although $22 can seem steep for rice paper rolls, they do have meat and avocado (my favourite part!) so it's not just purely vegetables that you're paying for. Part of the fun is also making the rolls yourself and learning how to do it along the way.
It's a great place to get a good feed, and a good healthy alternative to other dinner options!
I have been coming to Bakehouse for over 7 years now and can’t believe they still do this many fresh vegetables every single day! Now I live in a different state I crave every time I go back to Sydney I have to have the rice paper rolls! Service changes from season to season. I’m so happy that this places exists! Lunch time is the best time to go ;)
If your new years resolution was to eat clean, but also indulge yourself at an all-you-can-eat buffet, then this is the place for you ($22 pp). In concept, it seems straightforward enough -D.I.Y. spring rolls with vermicelli noodles, but the freshness of the ingredients coupled with the fish-based dipping sauce really does take it to a whole new level. In saying so, I don't really know how this is 'korean' as there wasn't any kimchi or what I would typically expect at a Korean restaurant. If anything, this would be a Viet-Korean fusion? Also, if you're expecting top quality meat, this is probably not the buffet for you as both the beef and pork were quite underwhelming. However, I do believe they offer kbbq service in addition to the buffet which includes a range of meat options. Overall, this was the perfect meal to combat the Australian heat and avoid any possibility of 'meat sweats' from traditional kbbq buffets. Also, a great option if you have a vegan/vegetarian friend.
