There's a reason this place is known as the best coffee in Surfers. Located smack bang in the middle of the Centre Arcade (Asian Alley), you'll be forgiven for walking straight past this unassuming "hole in the wall"... but you'll only be missing out! Best black coffees around and the jaffles go down well any time of the day!
The toast here is less acidic (I don't know what that technically means, but I don't like bitter coffee, so this is probs easier to drink as black coffee), the owner/barista Clayton is friendly and sports a sweet hipster beard. Drop in if you're in the area.
A great new edition to Surfers on the coffee front - it certainly needs it. Good coffee. Located in a dark alleyway so not great to sit and drink but takeaway on the way to the beach is perfect.
Cool and funky hole in the wall cafe in Centre Arcade. Fantastic coffee. Barista was warm and friendly with fabulous service. Little bit of Melbourne in sunny Surfers.
Cool, funky and friendly with bean hunter rated coffee. Small walk through hole in the wall cafe with limited seating. The staff are very friendly and there are heaps of Insta peeps around snapping pics for their feed.
Amazing coffee, lovely people, best coffee in the area...definitely. Try it!!!
They make it quite strong which is fine. Nice music and sound system too.
Beautiful coffee, available with lactose free milk. Opens nice and early. I went up to black coffee lyrics but there was no one at the counter
Luke @ Stairwell makes the best coffee I've found on the GC, & I've been looking! even better, the barista is nice! sorry Luke
Luke @ Stairwell makes the best coffee I've found on the GC, and I've been looking! No sea views but it's fun to sit & watch the Arcade go by and (big plus) he's nice to his customers!
Go early, he closes @ 3pm.
There’s something Tardis-like about Stairwell Coffee. Landed smack in the middle of ‘Asian Alley’, Surfers Paradise, its smart fire-engine red frontage and clear vintage branding stand out against the surrounding Babel-like confusion of hand-written signage and dishevelled shop fronts. The Centre Arcade is one of the oldest and least aesthetic arcades in Surfers, commonly termed ‘Asian Alley’ for its cheap eateries, although some are quite renowned. They sit alongside hair and massage salons, tattoo parlours and internet cafés, frequented by tourists and locals alike. Slightly dodgy by night, it’s a well-used thoroughfare during the day and, as its name denotes, holding prime foot traffic realty as one of the main shortcuts between Surfers Paradise Boulevard and Orchid Avenue. Though it’s located under Black Coffee Lyrics, their opening hours don’t coincide, Stairwell covering the week day shift, BCL the funky nigh
