Great place great food always experienced friendly service. Feels like Italy
Amazing service and honest italian fare. Always a great time
A real Italian coffee restaurant in Sydney!Amazing pasta and relaxed atmosphere. We definitely go back!
Solid Italian fare. Very good garlic bread, recommended. Large penne with sausage in a cream sauce and Linguine Bolognese also very good. Husband wife team runs the restaurant and they are excellent hosts. Reasonable prices too.
Caffe Amici is a small, quiet Italian restaurant in the heart of the CBD. Offering a variety of Italian dishes to choose from at relatively good prices, this cute little restaurant has it all - good wine, pizza and pasta.
Service is great, serving sizes are huge and a good location which makes it easy to get to (just a couple minute walk from Town Hall station). I definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a more down-low feed in the city, away from the overcrowded streets and flocks of people.
Food recommendation: linguine arrabbiata

I don't usually write reviews but got to share how good this little gem is. My fiance and I love coming to this restaurant because of how consistent the quality of food is. Being a tomato lover, my favourite is the arrabiata - the tomato base is one of the best I've had in Sydney CBD. My fiance enjoys the cream based pastas as well. The owners of this restaurant are also very friendly and attentive, which makes us go back there so often.
Dining on my own tonight while in town for work and this small restaurant took my interest as I walked past. I was after unassuming and casual and Caffe Amici ticked those boxes. The reviews online were good but mostly dated. I took the punt anyway.
Though there was a specials board with delicious options on offer, I ordered the Linguini Amatriciana from the regular menu, along with a glass of Chianti. The service is welcoming and friendly and the food arrived very quickly.
The linguine came in a generous heap on my plate, with a very tasty tomato sauce and bacon pieces throughout. Maybe a touch on the salty side for some but I like my food tasty! I heard several diners compliment their food as they left. Every plate I saw was pasta and I am curious as to what the pizza is like. Though there were a few takeaway pizzas going out. All in all, a nice little spot for a relaxed meal.
If I could give Caffe Amici 4.5 stars (because no one is perfect), I would!
Caffe Amici is one of the few restaurants I’ve been to lately which I could say definitively that I’d be coming back to again and again. And indeed, since trying the restaurant a fortnight ago and writing this blog, I have been back there.
I have walked past Caffe Amici a number of times prior to going there for a friend’s birthday and to be honest, had not assumed great things, as it looked a little dingy from the outside and it just felt old and outdated. This was partly true but also part of its appeal – Caffe Amici is no fancy swanky restaurant, it is a family run, mum and pop shop with homely Italian cooking.
I felt instantly welcome and at home when I stepped into Caffe Amici at about 6:30pm on a Friday evening. Mum and dad (well, I’m not sure they were actually mum and dad or even married) were starting to prepare the kitchen and restaurant for their evening bookings but the lady made sure I was seated, with a full glass of wine and checked on me every few minutes until my friends arrived. I wish I had taken a photo of the menu: non laminated, crinkled, yellow pieces of paper on a little clipboard. This was such a great reminder that I was in someone’s family kitchen that happened to also be opened to the public – charming!
The food was amazing. It wasn’t super heavy Italian cooking, but homely, simple, fresh dishes which was part of the reason why I could picture myself frequenting the restaurant. My linguine amatriciana was the best pasta I’ve had out in a long time. Just linguine, a spicy tomato sauce with pancetta running through it. So simple but so good. The garlic bread entree was also decent and definitely garlic-y. On that point, one of my favourite memories from the restaurant was just the smell as you walk into the restaurant – the garlic, the onion, the tomato. Yum.

Decided to give this place a go on a Thursday night after work with some uni friends. It was a really gloomy, rainy day and there weren't any people sitting inside when my group dined in. The man who seemed to be in charge of the place was very friendly, and joked around with us. The service of the food was a little slower than expected, but it was delivered anyway.
Ordered the penne boscaiola ($17.5), and was quite impressed with the dish's serving size. I didn't think it would make me full, but it did. The chicken was cut evenly and quite juicy, and seasoned well with cheese. The sauce however, was a bit salty in my opinion, although it did give the pasta a general boost in taste. The penne itself was a little harder than what I was familiar with.
However, at the end of all that, definitely would call it a relatively positive experience considering the friendliness of the staff and some high points with the pasta dish I had.
Had a really great experience at lunch here today. I ordered the chicken scallopini with mushroom and mash, was really good. Colleague ordered the penne special he said it was really good also.
We were offered a complimentary Italian liqueur shot after our meal, a nice gesture and man did it have a kick!
Great little place this, good food and great service - casual, down to earth, and really homely.
What an amazing find this gorgeous place is! Super friendly staff and great service. The pasta was cooked to order with a perfect blend of chicken, onion, peas and a touch of chilli. DOCG Chianti complimented the meal perfectly and you MUST try the fresh homemade pesto. I'll be back!
Coffee crazed. I enjoy a good coffee so this place will become the place to find me
