Go to weekendfoodescapes for full blog review including photos. I was fortunate enough to enjoy a group dinner at Mr Wong. My work colleague often talks about fond he is and is a regular diner at Mr Wong so my expectations have slightly increased. I was looking forward to the upmarket Chinese banquet and the good company on this particular night.

Busy restaurant with a really cool vibe. Asian food. Great for groups
I’ve visited Mr. Wong to have lunch with him countless times and it’s one of the finest Chinese restaurants in Sydney CBD. If you order their best dishes, it’s probably the best Chinese restaurant in city. I like their dumplings, duck dishes and fried rice. It’s a great place to have business lunches or dates. I give this place 4 bears
My partner and I visited Mr Wong for their late night dining (10pm) for the first time a month back for our anniversary and honestly if I could rate it a 10/10 I would! We ordered the banquet which was $100pp however it was so worth it. The food was incredible and the service was absolutely amazing as well as the decor and ambience of the entire restaurant. This deserves 5 stars not just because of the amazing food but the entire experience! Thanks so much guys! We will be back really soon :)
The food is made in perfection. The restaurant has great atmosphere and vibe. The place to go when you want to impress
All the food is very tasty, very delicious indeed! Buzzing atmosphere, great for a night out in the city
Another very impressive Merivale venue and is well deserving of all the hype and feedback it receives! The cocktails are absolutely stunning and so easy to drink (especially the blue one)!
The dumplings and dim sum are delectable and I still dream about the Peking duck pancakes - they way they melt in your mouth is a one in a lifetime experience that everyone needs in their life.
Would highly recommend for any special occasion and for all age groups as there is bound to be something on the menu for everyone.
Love Mr Wong and Dan Hong!
There is probably not a great deal I can write about Mr Wong that hasn't already been written. The building is huge, always busy, always buzzing, classy interior and beautiful looking (and tasting) food. Yes it is expensive, but within the vicinity of the CBD and looking at restaurants with similar price points, there is a reason why people (myself included) return.
The dim sim platter looks beautiful. With appropriate condiments they also taste great. The Peking Duck is probably a relatively weaker dish on the menu (relative to the other dishes, not a 'weak' dish per se), and the wonton soup is a very tasty starter.
However, the signature dish which alone is worth coming to Mr Wong for is the sweet and sour crispy pork hock. The name does not do this justice, and nothing can prepare you for the giant cube of pork that comes out in front of you which can be sliced and diced with a spoon before your eyes - so tender, with an almost melt-worthy quality. I'll return (again) and yes, when I do, I'll be ordering the sweet and sour crispy pork hock.
Mr Wongs is an amazingly cool restaurant. The venue itself was an old printing house, it had beautiful stone walls, high ceilings, two levels, it epic!! The service is always spot on, the staff are very knowledgable and always know the answer to any questions. The sommeliers are all helpful and incredibly good th recommendations. The food is good, it has amounts of MSG so is very rich but also very tasty. The overall experience and vibe is always amazing here.
Sydney trip for a conference. Did a bit of digging around my local area and decided on mr wong. Absolutely stunning venue and staff. The venue is huge.
The food is amazing. Raw harimasa kingfish as a starter followed by angus beef cubes. These are so delicious with a massive pepper hit. King crab fried rice made me love rice again such a great idea for a dish
Cantonese food… good. Drinks… good. Table service… good. Ambience… good. Definitely the quality and experience you come to expect from a Merivale establishment. Staff were very attentive in making sure you’re well looked after, your glasses never empty and making recommendations based on the number of people and order of the dishes coming out of the kitchen. I would definitely recommend for any nice occasion, celebration, date night or just because.
We had a delicious diner in a very nice atmosphere.
The food was really good and tasty. The cocktails were delicious.
The service was perfect and the staff super friendly.
The music is really nice and not too loud.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone for all type of occasion.
It was a very good surprise and I will come back for sure !!
Mr. Wong has got to be one of the best restaurants for whatever occasion. The food here was absolutely delicious and the portions did not disappoint. We had several doggy bags!!
We ordered the vegetarian fried rice, half roasted duck, sweet and sour pork and green beans. Each dish was outstanding. The pork melted into the fork. Go for a small portion of fried rice if you are in a group of 3 or less - we order the large and have enough leftover for 3 days. The beans and duck we equally as delicious.
The ambience is another reason to love Mr. Wong. The fitout is excellent and every one of the staff members were incredibly helpful.
One of the best upmarket Chinese restaurants in Sydney. The food, cocktails and desserts were superb.
The place can get very busy so plan in advance. Courteous staff and great service. I’d love to go back when I’m in Sydney next time!
Celebrated a friend’s birthday here at Mr Wong. We were amazed by the beautiful quality and taste of the food from start to finish. The duck was particularly phenomenal. As was their fish, which paired perfectly with my glass of wine. We finished off the evening with their fried ice cream; that butterscotch sauce was to die for. I also want to note how incredible the staff were. So attentive and friendly, especially considering that we were a group. I wish I had gotten the name of our waitress (blondish curly hair, wears glasses and dr martens, European?) - she was so lovely to us! Thanks for a beautiful night, Mr Wong.
The old school Singaporean charm of the restaurant is amazing. Their menu has great variety and their cocktails and wines are delicious. The service is second to none and you will not be disappointed. 5 stars!
First time at this restaurant. It was very busy and booking is essential and pleased we booked our table for 4. Our waitresses were Amelia & Marta and Georgie provided the wine. All the staff were awesome 🤩
The food was amazing especially the duck and pancakes.
We really enjoyed our visit however be prepared for the several flights of stairs to navigate around the restaurant.
The food here is superb and delicious the price of what you pay is definitely worth it. The restraint is also nicely decorated and has a great theme. The staff are nice kind and very efficient.
